After November, December really doesn't make it easy for us either. But, after all, he also belongs to 2020, so why should he keep it different... Well. So first of all, welcome to Saturday Coffee with knitting inspiration to knit yourself and especially - keep (keyword "Egostrikk"), a bit of net talk, Christmas spirit and an important note!

Christmas Peaceful Piano via © Spotify

Of course, first there is something for the ears and for the necessary mood. I was SO close to present you the Christmas hit playlist. But since I want you to continue to visit here, I have then but waived it. But it exists, just so you know.

The other day I realized with horror that I have no knitting project for the holidays. Yes, of course, there are already a few smaller things, a few more balls maybe also and yes, quite possibly I have a few UFOs (= unfinished objects). But you know it too, that magic when you unpack your Maschenfein package, the pattern come out of the printer and you unwind the thread from a new skein. Hach, hach, hach.

The Jules sweater in the cozy versionPhotos
via Instagram © instagram.com/paulastrickt

So I have chosen the Jules Sweater from Paula_m. Yes, I have become a victim of my own newsletter, because I presented it to you last week. But it's somehow just right for my current mood: cozy, slightly heavier needles, stripes, Sophia likes it. Knitted according to the original pattern, which you get for example on Ravelry, but just from Smart and Tynn Silk Mohair from SANDNES. So it will be really nice and fluffy. If you prefer to knit with the original summer yarn Ica from LAMANA, you can find our knitting kit here.

At Ravelry was this week also a lot going on. At the end of the year, many great designs have appeared once again, which will bring us in any case knitted well over the holidays and into the new year.

At ChrisBerlin for example Syster a classic cardigan at first glance, but one that comes up with clever details. Knitted top down in a half brioche of Premia and Merida from LAMANA, a really nice, cozy combination. What I like most about the design are the saddle shoulders and the long cuffs. You can find a finished knitting kit here. Dagmar is also knitting it right now for our #maschenfeinesschaufenster and also participated in the test knit. I'm telling you: In our WhatsApp group it went high, it was one or the other time geribbelt, but now the pattern is and the result is .

News from PetiteKnit from Denmark

Let's continue with the cozy knit: even though it's December, the latest model from PetiteKnit fits perfectly. November Jacket (it's all 2020 anyway!) is a warm top-down cardigan in a brioche pattern. With this is actually said everything, you only need the matching color at the used yarn Peer Gynt of SANDNES 😉 All right. You'll get some more info, because the jacket is constructed diversely:

First you knit a part in doubleface technique, namely the back collar, which in turn connects the front edges. From this part you then pick up the stitches for the back, after which you knit right and left shoulder. These three parts are then collected on one needle and form the body, which is worked in the brioche pattern in rows with facings with doubleface technique. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up around the armholes. Finally, pockets are knitted in the brioche pattern, which are sewn to the jacket.

Or rather a vest?

Almost exactly the same construction is the matching vest to the jacket: The November Vest is also knitted in the brioche pattern top down and is a knitted piece for all those who just can't imagine ending up on "Sleeve Island" towards the end of the knitting. Personally, it always takes me a while to motivate myself to knit sleeves, but eventually I get the hang of it. Nevertheless, I find the vest, which is also knitted from Peer Gynt by SANDNES, very charming. On Instagram also came up with the idea to knit the jacket or vest from the Snefnug of CaMaRose, which I imagine even cuddlier.

By the way, when deciding what to knit next, I always turn on the head cinema: How do I look while knitting? (Well of course, the Christmas decorations sparkle, the child plays contentedly, the man sleeps - optionally vice versa). How do I look wearing the knitting? (Well of course, so honest!) Do I have the material at home ? (Of course not, so honest!) So. Vest and / or jacket thus remain possible Anstrick designs.

"Finland" is spelled L-A-I-N-E

We also have the latest issue of the Finnish knitting magazine Laine in stock today. You could already pre-order it and we will try to send it out to you as soon as possible.

Ever since I knitted the Encadré loop, I've been a big Julie Hoover fan. I really like the timeless, classic designs of the US-American. Luckily for me (unluckily?!) she is now also represented with a design in the new Laine issue. Skog is a light oversize sweater with a loose turtleneck. On the arms you will find a subtle Fair Isle pattern. Do I like it? Oh yes!

The sweater is constructed from the bottom up: You start in rounds with the cuff and knit up to the armpits. Then the knitted piece is separated into front and back and knitted in rows. The sleeves are also knitted in rounds starting from the cuff, then you knit the shoulders in rows to give them their proper shape. Sew everything together using the mattress stitch. For the collar, pick up stitches from the neckline and knit in rounds.

...and which yarn?

Of course, it is also very important which yarn we recommend to you. Unfortunately, I have a talent for picking out tricky projects... Luckily, we have Sandra, who has such a good overview of our yarns that she always knows how to help. And so also here: For the "main" yarn, we would go with Rakuda from ITO. For the colorwork part, which is worked in the original two-ply, you can either use Sensai and knit it together with Rakuda, or you can use a completely new combination, namely Shio and Sensai. Egg, egg, egg. I tell you, my head, it's already knitting very, very diligently here!

Multicolored was here the last few weeks often a topic. In October, for example, we told you a whole lot about Fair Isle & Co. Now you can use this knowledge for the new design by Isabell Krämer: Jingle is a timeless top-down sweater with a pretty Fair Isle pattern at the yoke. With the help of short rows you form the slightly higher neck at the back before the yoke is knitted in several colors. Once you've separated the arms, knit in rounds until you reach the cuff. You can do this even with a full belly over the holidays, when your head might already be a little sluggish. For the sleeves, pick up the stitches you've stopped and knit down in rounds as well.

As a yarn, we imagine the Merino Twists Solids from Cowgirl Blues beautiful. The wool is hand-dyed in Cape Town and has become so popular that founder Bridget Henderson has been able to employ several women, giving them a fair and secure income. Henderson spent some time at Luis Vuitton Moet Hennessy in Paris and then worked as a management consultant. But as sometimes happens, even the best-paid or most prestigious job doesn't fill you up. And so she went back to Cape Town, started knitting again and experimenting with textures and colors. The result is, among other things, the Merino Twists Solids in your hands.

Team Rosa, please sit down!

Oh man, Andrea Mowry's latest design really makes me weak. Wouldn't Pink Fizz not also a nice piece of "Egostrikk" for the holidays? By the way, the term comes from Scandinavia (hence the slightly different spelling, in this case Norwegian) and simply means that you knit something for yourself. So has a lot to do with self-care and we all know how important that is 😉.

The sweater is - typical for Mowry - knitted from the bottom up. The shoulders are overlapped and the sweater is kept rather loose. The underarms are tighter and give the design contour. Due to the lace pattern, the model is certainly something for advanced knitters, but some may still be looking for the challenge for the holidays! As a yarn we have chosen here for Island Blend from Rowan.

But rather something small?

If you're looking for smaller projects, the new designs from Melanie Berg are something for you. The hat and cuffs are knitted from Cashmere 6/28 by Pascuali, one of our absolute yarn favorites this year.

If this year has taught us anything it’s that we can pull through the toughest times together.

This sentence comes from the Ravelry description of the two designs. And I think: It's true. This year has been extraordinary in every way. Exceptionally exciting, exceptionally exhausting, but in some moments perhaps exceptionally beautiful. Remember that when you reward yourself with good yarn and some knitting time. And something is ringing a bell with me right now. Cue cashmere, cue Pascuali... I can't figure it out. Best I update the podcast playlist of Only One More Row tomorrow. Maybe something will come up.

If you're still looking for a pretty little something, you could reach for the Tape Measures from CocoKnits. Tape Measures are made of polyactide, a 100 percent biodegradable, plant-based plastic substitute. The tape, which comes in three different colors, can be used to measure in both cm/mm and inches.

Fine accessories from MINUK

And do you know where you can store the measuring tapes? In the project bags from MINUK. Founder Antje has recently developed the bags further. So the Project Bags in size M and L now have so-called D-rings on the side or on the leather straps and can be carried with a leather belt. Thanks to the very robust canvas cotton fabric, the bags have a good stand and offer space for two to four balls, depending on the size. Both designs are closed with a drawstring. Smaller, narrow inner pockets offer space for double pointed needles or scissors. Here's a little warning (aside from pointing out that MINUK accessories are really, really pretty!): The strap is only included with size L, you'll need to order it separately for the smaller size M bags if desired. We've ordered it in any case and will get it to the warehouse as soon as we can.

Speaking of warehouses: When a Maschenfein package arrived the other day (*cough*), I could see how incredibly busy DHL is at the moment (of course, this also applies to all other shipping service providers). Via a Livetracking you can track your package and see how many stops it is to your home. And there have never been so many as on this day with me.

2020 is also an enormous challenge for our warehouse and our shipping service providers. Increasing school and daycare closures come together with an even higher volume of packages than usual at this time of year. As always, we do our best and try to get everything to you as quickly and safely as possible.

And another info about the live tracking: In the past weeks the automatic sending of the number did not work properly. But we found the error yesterday and hope that soon all orders will be recorded so that you get your tracking number automatically.

Maschenfein knitting round

Finally, in addition to my inspiration, there should be some from your own ranks. The best address for this is, as always, our Facebook group or our #maschenfeinstrickrunde on Instagram.

Still I discover felt projects with you - how beautiful! With Ulrike, for example, two Tova bags are finished. Stephanie has posted her Sunday Sweater and makes but directly desire to "Egostrikk. 😉

While waiting for the yarn for this year's Christmas shawl. Lucia i_pfefferminza simply knits the one from the last one: Namely Margaret's mom from the Milano by LAMANA. And finally, with the manufacturer Regia, it's all about the sock yarns. And about our last podcast episode. I'll link it to you again now for the conclusion. Next week there will be the last Saturday Coffee for this year, in which I will provide you with reading fodder for the turn of the year.

We ourselves go on December 24 in the Christmas break. Here is a reminder that all voucher orders that are paid by December 24, 9 a.m.(please note the booking times of your bank), will be sent by us in time for Christmas (the vouchers will be sent by mail). You can also order "between the years" as usual, but our support will be limited during this time. So please be patient if it takes a little longer than usual to get back to you. From January 4th on we will be there for you again as usual - possible lockdowns aside.

But until then it still takes a few days. Therefore, I wish you first of all a nice, quiet third Advent and a lot of fun and relaxation while knitting. Stay healthy!

With a flick of the wrist, it's already been a week of Advent. Raise your hand if you get scared every time. How does it work? That time runs so fast? I have no idea. But sometimes it helps me to just sit down somewhere for a while. Let's just do it together, okay? Read, take a deep breath, rest for a moment. So welcome to the wish list Saturday coffee on the second Advent weekend with fine accessories around knitting. Because let's be honest: Besides beautiful yarn, we also enjoy everything that makes the most beautiful hobby in the world even more beautiful. Of course, there's also a bit of net talk and ideas about which knitting kits would make a great gift to a fellow knitter (or to yourself!).

For you this time a few Klassikervia
Spotify

Of course I have again picked out a playlist for you. This time a few classics. Hach, I just love Christmas! Who likes, may take as usual also a cookie in the hand and / or the coffee cup. But do not spill on the tablet, right?

Franziska Klee x Maschenfein

Only today, so on December 5, 2020, you can order the collection of Franziska Klee x Maschenfein, after that the products will no longer be available. We - or rather Franziska and her team - will of course do our utmost to ensure that all orders that arrive today will be processed as quickly as possible. Because each bag is only manufactured when it is ordered.

You can choose from the small bag Mila, needle case Mara and the bag Mona. All handmade in Leipzig and made of high quality, ecologically sustainable leather from southern Germany. Here I have introduced you to the bags in more detail.

Organic cotton bags

Beautiful project bags for your wish list are also available from Kaliko. Either as a so-called crossbody bag with strap (which is not shown in the pictures) or as a bag with zipper. The bags are sewn and dyed in Germany with low-pollutant synthetic dyes. The individual prints and colors may vary from model to model - these variations are the result of the random dyeing process. And let's face it, you really can't have enough project bags, can you 😉.

By the way, an unwritten knitting law says that pins belong on project bags. Is so! And there we also have a nice selection for you:

I now have a small selection of pins at home. They look just pretty on my many bags and also make quite wonderful as a small gift. Since this year socks were so incredibly popular, but the matching pin would be just perfect. Or rather a skein for wrap lovers? Or simply the request: "Knit". Knit something again. 🙂

Or you can give away our Maschenfein pin with our lovely wool suppliers. And from the pretty Minuk pins we still have a few of the motifs branch and leaf in stock.

Christmas books and magazines

In the last newsletter I told you about the new Laine magazine, which you can now pre-order from us. I think the new issue would also make a great gift. It will be announced to us for the warehouse on December 12 and will be sent out to you as soon as possible. Please note, however, that everything you put into a shopping cart with this magazine will also be sent to you only then.

Another wonderful gift - perhaps complemented by matching sock yarn? - is also the book 52 Weeks of Socks from Laine. Like everything else that comes from Laine, this work is so beautifully designed and finished to a high standard - making it the perfect Christmas gift for sock knitters and sock knitters.

Of course, knitting kits are also perfect for giving as a gift or a present. Brand new is for example our Christmas shawl Lucia, about which I have written in detail here. Since you can choose between the Comoand the Bergamo variant.

A very wonderful Christmas gift is of course our knitting kit for the Kolding by ChrisBerlin. Knitted from Lunar and Silk Cloud by Shibui you get a really, really soft and noble scarf. But since we are always asked for alternatives for the pattern (which you can buy here on Ravelry ), we have of course also an answer ready:

For example, you can also knit Milano from LAMANA (nine balls) or the combination of Modena (5 balls) and Premia (6 balls) - also from LAMANA. Also possible are the crown yarns from Regia. We recommend either Premium Silk or Premium Cashmere. Here you need five balls - and supplies are on the way! Oh, you are interested in the crown yarns? Then you should keep an eye out for our latest Advent podcast tomorrow. We might have someone on who can tell you a lot about these yarns...

Shibui under the Christmas tree

If you follow designer Rosa P., you've been getting a taste of her latest design bundle for a few days now: Polly consists of a headband, pulse warmers and a loop. Today the designs are released and you can buy them either in Rike's store or on Ravelry. We've put together three knitting bundles for you, all made from the combination of Nest and Silk Cloud by Shibui. A really great combo that will make any knitter's heart beat faster. The individual knits have a lifting stitch definition that is easy to knit, but very effective and conjures up a beautiful design.

Ready to Wear

If you prefer to have something ready knitted, you will also find it in our shop. In the store we have two ready knitted products: The Sensai scarf and the pulse warmers from ITO. The scarf is a feather-light dream made of ITO Sensai (60% mohair, 40% silk), weighing only between 120 to 130 g. The scarf is made in a small knitting factory in Japan on a fine knitter with a very fine stitch definition that can hardly be achieved by hand knitting.

The wrist warmers are made of 100% bourette silk, namely ITO Kinu. They are a great addition to any wardrobe - tone on tone or as a color contrast. Both in any case very pretty gifts.

If you want to knit a Sensai scarf yourself, you can of course also take the Osaka knitting kit. Either with a fixed color choice or completely for self-selection.

Always practical: vouchers!

Very uncomplicated - and perhaps easiest for all desperate men and women out there who don't know much about knitting - are our vouchers. Because I've never met anyone who didn't know what to use their voucher for at Maschenfein 😉 You'll find fixed amounts in the order field, but we can combine them into one voucher if you wish. Just leave us a message in the comments field.

The voucher will be sent to you by mail and is thus also well advised for short-term gifts. All voucher orders that are paid by December 24, 9 a.m.(please note the booking times of your bank), will be shipped by us in time for the gifts. By the way, our parcel service providers are already warning of delivery delays. With a daily parcel volume in the millions, I really don't envy the work of the many delivery people. So remember to order and ship in good time (Christmas presents should go out by December 19 at the latest!) and give your delivery people a smile or maybe even a euro or two.

Maschenfein knitting round

I almost forgot, but (almost) no Saturday coffee without a look at our Instagram knitting round:

Mary fortunately feels the time racing away just like we do - and is busy knitting her Tova bag from Fritidsgarn. Our working student Jule is running a little competition for her two headband designs, which we are happy to support. So be sure to check it out!

At Lina 's you can see the very first beginnings of our Christmas shawl. And by the weather you can see when we start planning our actions. And at Steffi was also Fritidsgarn on the needles: The result are our cozy felt slippers.

Finally, and to shorten the waiting time for our podcast episode tomorrow, I recommend the first episode of our podcast advent series. In it, Marisa and Sandra talk about everything that's going on in the background (or sometimes not), about Advent at Maschenfein and how our Christmas shawl came to be. Feel free to listen in. And tomorrow there'll be fresh fodder for your ears.

By the way, if our lead picture today looked familiar to you: It's true. That's from last year. But we still think Martina 's pictures are beautiful. And because not everything always has to be new and we thought of her often this year, we decided on a second use. Have a reflective second advent!

Well, what can I say: It's December and the year is officially coming to an end. This morning it even snowed here in Würzburg and I am now fully in the winter-Christmas mood. Everyone has to go through it - but you are used to a lot from me by now.

Of course, the appropriate knitting projects may not be missing. And of course, almost all of us have something on the needles (Jule must urgently add! ;-)). But you can already see that it's getting closer to Christmas: There are a few little things that still need to be finished before the presents start. Oh, and you will see right away that our team has grown. We are very happy about that! So welcome to our monthly round on the needles. And don't forget to tell us what you're knitting at the moment!

We continue felting...

We've already hinted at it on Instagram: We're still in felting fever and just can't keep our hands off the fritid yarn. In addition, there is the Advent hustle and bustle, which also does not stop in front of Corona. Or Corona, which in turn does not stop at Advent and additionally "delights" us with many a quarantine. For this reason, Marisa continues to knit the felt slippers Doble Tøfler.

With Marisa the felt slippers are on the needlesPhoto

The felt slippers have become a real hype. The knitting kit, with which you will also receive the German translation, can be found here. As we have already told you several times, there is a small modification: In contrast to the original, we have decided to cast on the stitches only provisionally and to connect them afterwards with the stitch. Then there is no seam pressing on the foot. So that nothing goes wrong, we have made three videos for you. A big thumbs up to Sandra, who has been busy knitting and filming. You can find all videos in our YouTube channel.

A basket full of Fritidsgarn is also at Sophia. Currently there is the color Plomme (4529) on the needles for the felt gloves Fritzi. Besides, the gauntlets Elsa are knitted from the wonderful Cashmere 6/28 from Pascuali. After all the hand washing, knitting this soft yarn is pure bliss. The knitting kit is available here. You can also buy the pattern separately.

On the right picture you can also see the Tova bag, also made of fritids yarn and a super quick to knit project. Jule has also knitted one. I tell you: They really just fly over the needles. Meanwhile, we have almost all knitted one or even several.

But we can also be big!

Sandra knits a cozy cardiganPhoto

Sandra continues to knit - besides the many small felting projects she had on the needles, of course - her Cardigan Morginn from Laine Magazine No. 4, knitted in brioche with the Alpaca Fino from Pascuali. A dream, quite honestly. And it makes me really want to knit sweaters and cardigans. I already have something in mind... More's maybe already in the next blogpost from Auf den Nadeln. 😉

And finally, I would like to introduce our newest team member: As of today, Katharina joins our support team. A warm welcome! And of course she is knitting a project right now:

Lifting stitches used in very different ways: the Aut Idem by JanukkePhoto

Katharina has the scarf Aut Idem by designer Jana Huck aka Janukke on her needles. The model consists of numerous variations of the woven pattern: dots, dashed lines and stripes are created as well as a continuous three-color pattern. Knitting is done with Shio and Rakuda from ITO.

Your knitting projects here at Maschenfein

And what do you have on the needles?

"On the Needles" is a series from Maschenfein. What are you knitting in December? What has become of your last projects? Will you tell us here? We are looking forward to it! Just comment here under this post or link up in the links section. On Instagram we use the hashtag #ontheneedles

You can link yourself for the whole month! Attention: You must set a backlink to this post or blog in your post, otherwise it will not work with the link tool. A backlink is nothing more than a link to this blog :)!

Welcome to the Saturday Coffee on the first weekend of Advent! With knitting ideas, net talk, a bit of chaos here and there, garnished with fir branches and the smell of cookies and of course - so tomorrow then - with the first candle of probably the most unusual Advent we've ever had (Feel free to correct me at this point).

I have appointed myself to the maschenfein Christmas commissioner. With the result that I got there this week but slightly stress. Sandra has already wondered how I, of all people, could not yet "lie under angels and stars". I asked myself the same question. And directly I had the realization that I have missed it smoothly to provide also with me for the appropriate ambience. So poof everything stand and lie let, the box with Christmas decorations from the basement fetched and the apartment aufgehübscht.

And maybe I'll manage to bake a few cookies. But if not, I know where to buy good ones. None of us needs unnecessary stress. By the way, I still haven't managed by far to make the presents I originally planned (by "by far" I mean "nothing"). So: Let's just make ourselves comfortable together with this Saturday coffee. Plans just change.

And to give you a good start to Advent, I asked a few days ago on Instagram what you want here today: Rather "egostrick" or still inspiration for Christmas gifts? You guys have a slight tendency to "gift inspiration". But I think I can make the other faction happy today too. Have fun reading! And of course I have also picked out a nice playlist for you.

Little things for the gift

I love to wrap gifts. Almost more than I like to make them. I just like to pin a little twig here or tie a little heart there. And how nice is it please to add a corresponding mini version to knitted gifts? I find something like that totally cute.

In the store of Say! Little Hen you can find for example this tutorial for a small sweater. As yarn you can use for example Como from LAMANA. And if you're giving a hat as a gift, why not hang one of paula-m's mini hats on the present? In an Instagram highlight, she explains to you how the hats are knitted. For the hats in the photo Susanne used yarn in Aran strength (about 80 meters per 50 grams). If you use thinner yarn, the hats will be smaller - but that wouldn't be so bad. So you have quite free choice and can use up super yarn remnants.

For the good cause

Just in time for today's start of her charity campaign, I would also like to recommend Miriam 's new tutorials to you: A three-piece set consisting of a hat, loop and cuffs: the Kate Charity Pattern Set. You can buy the patterns individually or bundled.

The proceeds from the sale of the cap and gauntlets go entirely to the work of Equality Nowan organization that campaigns for the rights of girls and women. They work with the legislature to bring about lasting change in society and improve the lives of women, which is something I am SO supportive of and so happy to see Miriam doing. The tutorial for the loop is free, so really everyone can be a part of Kate. You can find all the tutorials in Miriam's Ravelrystore since tonight.

Who this Kate actually is? The design is inspired by Kate Sheppard, a women's rights activist from New Zealand. It is thanks to her efforts that New Zealand women were the first to be granted the right to have their voices heard in elections. "I think it fits this year and the whole situation and just gives courage - every little action of a brave woman has a value, a meaning and can become part of something big, something world-changing," Miriam wrote me and I can only agree with her.

Do not think your single vote does not matter much. The rain that refreshes the parched ground is made up of single drops.

Kate Sheppard

We may all be just a single drop, but together we can make a difference. So maybe you'll feel like buying the pattern and even giving a gift to someone else. Double the joy, so to speak. And you can also follow the current donation status on Miriam's Ravelry page. I will participate!

All pieces are knitted from Como Tweed and Premia by LAMANA. Coincidentally, both are among my favorite yarns. It's a match, as they say 😉 All three garments are decorated with a beautiful zigzag pattern, which is not obtrusive, but leaves enough room for the yarn - and vice versa. Surely even advanced beginners can dare to follow the pattern: You don't need a cable needle for the mini braids, and the pattern is included in charts as well as written out ininstructionstterninstructionshe pattern are available in German as well as in English.

Maschenfein in felting fever

On Thursday, our live evening took place on Instagram. Wow, we were really a bit excited. But it was fun! You'll find all sorts of tips on the subject of felting and the projects presented. By the way, we also have tutorials on the popular felt slippers in our videos. Feel free to check them out if you need some help! Click here to go to the YouTube channel.

(If you don't see the video here, please just click on "Check out this post on Instagram.")

For those who can't/won't let go of felting, here are two more bags I found. The Curve Bag would also make a great project basket. The felt clutch still requires a bit of sewing skill, because it is lined and has a zipper - but what can scare you? 😉 You get the tutorial in any case via the link in the Ravelry description. Oh, and of course you can use the Fritidsgarn from SANDNES for both.

Also, during our stream, someone had asked if you could work cable knit gloves that would then be felted. Since we haven't tried that ourselves yet, we were unsure if the pattern would come out right. However, while searching for inspiration for this Saturday Coffee, I found Mitten No. 1. Here you see: a cable knit pattern definitely works. Unfortunately, the pattern are only available in Norwegian. But maybe you dare to do it anyway? The Internet helps for sure!

Cute foxes

And who is still looking for a gift for children, I would have this cute fox hat and matching scarf in the luggage. Aren't they cute? I've had them in my favorites list on Ravelry forever. And for this Saturday coffee, they just fit perfectly. As yarn we would advise you here to Bergamo from LAMANA. A rust red is not yet available there as a shade, but also the combination of gray-cream I imagine beautiful. Or green-grey or or or. You're sure to find something!

Team Egostrick: Here's something for you!

Paula-m has published a sweater - after many doubts whether she can and wants to wear something like that. I think: She can! And you too, of course. For example, you can knit the Mara Vest with Merino 50 from Lang Yarns. On 8mm needles it goes very quickly and maybe it will even be a Christmas gift for one or the other.

By the way, if like me you cringe at the yarn description because the merino wool comes from Australia and you are concerned about the sheep (keyword mulesing), then I recommend this blog post. Lang Yarns decided in 2017 to switch to wool from merino sheep that are guaranteed not to have been subjected to the procedure of mulesing.

The sweater is knitted from the top down. First in rows, because front and back are knitted separately, and from under the arms then in rounds. This way you can adjust the length flexibly. And with Susanne you can be sure that you get a super detailed pattern with all the help you can use so.

When I now looked at Instagram, what's going on in our knitting group, it soon blew me away. You knit tirelessly many little things and I'm sure that there will be quite a bit under the Christmas trees. Great!
Simone, for example, knitted the headband Ava by Paula-m from the Cusco by LAMANA - all ears stay warm (in our knitting kit you'll find the Puno by LAMANA). And warm hands you get also with our maschenfein cuffs with cable pattern (with us in the knitting kit also with the Cusco). Here knitted by Anja.

Fritidsgarn I have of course discovered heaped. For example, with Claudia. She has her Dimasq scarf from Stichfest lying next to it (knitted from Mini Alpakka from SANDNES). At Lina 's place our popular Doble Tøfler are finished, at Christina 's place our felt gloves Fritzi and at Jana's place you can see one of our classics: the shawl Hinata. Jana calls herself a "knitting beginner" - I'd say that's an understatement!

Finally, I'd like to recommend that you check out our podcast "Just One More Row" tomorrow. Maybe there will be a new episode? Who knows 😉 In any case: Have a nice weekend and a (preferably) contemplative first Advent. Stay healthy!

I've been on the Maschenfein team for almost two months now, and my conclusion so far is that it never gets boring here! This week, for example, we sent out our new newsletter. I tell you: Thrill! Marisa had to hold my hand via phone because I was so excited while sending it. But then all of a sudden it was out and you guys were thrilled. And it doesn't get any better than that. So I'm jumping straight into the next task - which is this text. Welcome to a fresh Saturday coffee with knitting ideas, a new magazine, glimpses of our new branding, and a secret airing.

Cooperation with Franziska Klee

So beautiful: the bag collection in collaboration with Franziska Klee.

Maschenfein

Let's start with the secret (because it's just so beautiful!). Finally we can show you what Marisa has cooked up together with Franziska from the fair fashion label Franziska Klee. The Leipzig-based company stands for minimalist cuts, sustainable materials and attention to detail - all qualities that we also appreciate here at Maschenfein.

And when Marisa met with Franziska in Leipzig, there was a lot of fun on the one hand, but above all three great results with the names Mila, Mara and Mona.

As you can see, a lot of time and passion went into this cooperation. All bags are also adorned with our new branding, which you got a big taste of in our last mail. So the excitement on our side was correspondingly great. And because we want everyone to see how Maschenfein is developing, you can find the latest newsletter here. And if you like it (which we hope you do!), we would be happy if you subscribe to it. Just scroll down this page and enter your e-mail address in the field "Newsletter subscription".

When I was preparing the newsletter, I read her article "My lateral entry to happiness" on Franziska's site and was - I just have to put this a bit pathetically now - really touched. A young woman writes about her path and her passion and you can see in every line how much she burns for her work. And you can also see that in the high-quality products: Franziska Klee knows her leather suppliers from southern Germany, who in turn tan their leather on a vegetable and ecologically sustainable basis, and Franziska and her small but fine team then process it in Leipzig. So 100 percent "made in Germany". The end result is an accessory that will accompany you for many, many years.

And of course that's exactly what we want with the three products that were created in this collaboration: Make you happy and accompany you.

All three are designed to meet the (high) demands of a knitter. Bag Mona is the perfect knitting companion for on the go. It accommodates the current knitting project and can be opened from both sides in no time at all to quickly knit a few rows or rounds in between. It's not unusual to have five minutes to spare. And how practical it is when you can also use it for knitting!

We have developed the needle bag Mara in such a way that on the one hand it has space for particularly many tips and on the other hand it also has various compartments for ropes of different lengths. Because who does not know that? The tedious search for the right rope length? No longer happens. In addition to the leather color, you can also choose the color of the elastic band that closes the needle bag.

The small case we have christened Mila and it will accommodate all your things that you need on the road so. It can be knitting utensils or cosmetics - it doesn't matter. Mila takes everything and always looks good in it! And did you notice the embossing on the bags? It is a combination of two logos: Franziska's and our new one. We are thrilled! But of course we also want to know how you like our "new look". So feel free to tell us in the comments!

Anniversary at LAMANA

Photos: © LAMANA

There's also something new from LAMANA, one of your favorite yarn manufacturers in the store. The Bielefeld-based company recently published its tenth magazine with ladies' designs. For this anniversary, the makers have therefore also opted for a perfect binding and dispensed with the staples.

The 2020/2021 winter collection includes 28 knitting pattern for sweaters, cardigans and accessories of all kinds. The magazine offers varied knitting techniques and the designs range from fashionable basics to classic designs and sophisticated garments with special details. We have already packed you the first knitting kits. You can find them all on this page. By the way, the magazine is included in the kits free of charge.

I am particularly fond of the model No. 6. To one, because the sweater is knitted in gray. Of course, you can knit it in any other color, but I'm like many: I always like to reknit in the original color. And for another, I really like the stand-up collar. Really, really well. I've mentioned before that turtlenecks are very in this season. This model is knitted from Shetland and Premia and thus has - for my taste - just the right fluff factor.

Model No. 4 you knit from Como Tweed and Premia. Here I find especially interesting the pattern, which extends over the entire sweater without being too intrusive. Despite the small splashes of color from the Como Tweed, this sweater is not too much, but a nice piece for this winter (and today it was finally cold here - yay!).

If you don't like mohair, you'll find alternatives in the booklet. For example, the cover model (left) is knitted only from Como (and you can choose from a meeeeenge of colors). The model no. 2 is knitted from Shetland. The color copper, which you also see in the picture, I find particularly beautiful.

Have you ever knitted the yarn Shetland? It is one of the newer LAMANA qualities and consists of 100 percent lambswool. It is particularly suitable for designs with a rustic look and, of course, for multicolored knitting. But you can also combine it with another yarn like Premia, as in model no. 4, which makes the feel softer. But also knitted solo, Shetland is a so-called "Superlight" yarn and, like Como, impresses with its lightness. And the color palette is as always with LAMANA: There is something here for every taste.

What color should the Shetland be?

Santa Claus inspiration

With shock we have realized the days that next weekend is already the first Advent. And that in turn means that soon St. Nicholas is (gladly introduce dramatic music at this point). Oops, are you already equipped? I've already packed a little something (and maybe I'll hide it so well that I won't find it myself - you know that for sure). If you don't have anything yet and are still looking for a small gift for older children, we have something for you: the SANDNESGARN Knit Kit for Kids.

The kit includes a cardboard case to put together, Addi knitting needles for children and an pattern booklet with small projects such as bags, headband, coasters and slippers. It comes with two balls of Fritids yarn. The yarn is also very suitable for felting - maybe you want to try something in this direction with your children. There was inspiration for this just this week in this blog post. We are currently totally in the felting fever and hope a bit that we can infect you with it (is also not dangerous!). So here's another reminder: Next Thursday, November 26, we'll be going live on Instagram at 8:30 p.m. and want to knit a felt project together with you. You can ask us questions via chat and we will try to answer as many of them as possible.

On our own account

If some of you are currently waiting for your yarn, we ask for a little patience. One of our most important wholesalers had a system changeover and the so eagerly awaited deliveries from various manufacturers have been very delayed. In addition, there are the important hygienic measures in the warehouse and the already beginning Christmas delivery delay at DHL and DPD. As you can see, a lot of things are coming together here.

However, we are currently in the process of mastering all challenges as usual and hope very much that your packages will now arrive as quickly as always (as of this week, the sending of the shipment numbers to you should also be working again when your package leaves the warehouse). If you don't get your Fritids yarn in time for the livestream, just grab another project and knit along anyway. You'll even have a little advantage, because we'll explain again exactly how the provisional cast-on works for the slippers. After all, it's good to know before you start knitting. Oh, and we'll try to save the stream so you can watch it later, too! The point remains: we're happy about everyone who watches - no matter when! 🙂

#maschenfeinesschaufenster

Do you already know our fine stitch shop window? Since we lack a real shop window, we have simply created a virtual one. Here, our hard-working knitters show you all kinds of wonderful things that you can knit with yarns from the store. Recently we added the blouse Maya by Lotilda:

The Maya BlousePhoto
via Instagram: © instagram.com/livingpaper.rothenburg

Knitted it Andrea with four threads Premia from LAMANA (Honestly, I don't plan something like this before - but today we obviously have a focus on LAMANA ;-)). So the blouse is fluffy-fluffy-at its fluffiest. Yes, I've mastered increasing adjectives. But even more important: I can knit, too. And the Maya blouse is already very charming!

Maschenfein knitting round

You can knit as well. Just like felting obviously - at least that's what the view on Instagram suggests. There are namely the first parts already finished knitted and felted.

Birgit, for example, has finished the small felt bag (she also discovered the pattern on Ravelry) and Sigrid's first pair of felt slippers. By the way, they were also a tip from our great Maschenfeinrunde. Discovered - or felt I would almost say - they have Sibel. Thanks for that! And I'm so excited to see all the other felt projects that will be created in the coming weeks!

Saskia has finished two projects: the Long Shadows by ANKESTRiCK and the Cardigan Ystävä by Jonna Hietala. Yes, sewing threads is not a big deal (at least in my eyes), but for these two projects I would do it (if they are mine afterwards ;-)). Finally, at Natalie 's you can see the headband Vicky by Julia Gotthardt. You might know her as knitting.jule from Instagram and here from Maschenfein - she supports us in the backend. And I'll introduce her headbands to you next week. Until then, have a great weekend with lots of knitting time!

We've hinted at it before: we're in the throes of felting fever. Yes, it's contagious, but no, it's not dangerous. And it's fun. And it's distracting (which I find particularly important at the moment). So, what's up with you guys? Do you knit and felt? We've got something great in mind for you.

Together with you, we want to knit mittens or gauntlets, slippers or felt bags during an Instagram Live, which will then be felted in the washing machine. We can even chat a bit with each other via the chat function. Let's hope we don't get confused when counting the stitches 😉 .

What you need for our mittens and cuffs? First of all, of course, a great desire for the project, then the pattern (available from us) and two to three balls of Fritidsgarn from SANDNES (also available from us, of course). To keep it as uncomplicated as possible, we have put together a knitting kit for you. You only have to choose one size and color. And whether the gloves should be open or closed. Speaking of color: We have ordered generously. But if your color is out, be sure - we're always trying to get supplies! You still have yarn in your stash? Then we have the individually here.

Spoilt for choice: the Fritidsgarn color chartPhoto

The felt gloves are started with a two-one rib cuff before the palm is knitted stockinette stitch. For the thumb, work in an auxiliary thread so that you can knit it in later in the same place.

By the way, these are our color combination for the closed glove version:

Sandra: main color 6052, contrast color 6364Marisa
: main color 1055, contrast color 1042Sophia
: main color 4023, contrast

color 1042

When you start knitting, you may be a little surprised. Yes, it is absolutely true that you are knitting a glove that is way too big. It has to be that way! The good thing about it: It goes really quickly. Depending on your size and gauge, you'll be knitting with a needle size of 5 to 7 mm. I would bet that some of you will finish one glove during our one-hour live conversation. Then, when you finish the second one, here's what happens:

Off to the washing machine!

On the one hand, we now know that Sandra has a really quiet washing machine (I'm really a bit jealous of the light), and on the other hand, you can also see quite wonderfully: It works! You put your huge gloves into the washing machine and wash them in the normal washing program at 40 degrees. Please without other clothes and with normal washing powder. I admit, the time until you get the then matted gloves out again, can sometimes be seeeehr long, because exciting, but the wait is worth it!

During the subsequent fitting, we noticed that the gloves feel tight at first. It is important that you nevertheless put them on directly after washing and above all pull them into shape. And then please let them dry lying flat. In the end, you will have wonderfully warming gloves. Please share them with us on Instagram or Facebook - we're really looking forward to seeing the results.

Should you prefer to knit something for the feet instead of the gloves, we have of course something for you. Marisa has already started knitting these cute felt slippers (and knitting machine Sandra is even ready!). The pattern are designed for many sizes - so you can knit everyone from children to grandfathers.

Each foot is first worked double, then felted in the washing machine and then pinned together, pulled into shape and finished. Trust us, it works! Even if at first you wonder how exactly this is going to be a shoe when knitting. We just made a small change in the pattern and start with a provisional cast on. But you can read all that again in peace.instructionsttern are available as a free download with the knitting kit, knitted is needle size 5.5.

"Sophia, don't do that!"

And then I have to confess something to you. The other day I got into a bit of trouble! Why? Because I found a tutorial for a felted bag on Ravelry. You can even embroider it. I should please stop sharing such beautiful things, that you have to knit directly after. And you know what I do? I certainly do not stop with it 😉 Instead, I'll show it to you too. Hehe.

Honestly, isn't it beautiful? The bag makes but just great, indoors and outdoors. The pattern can be found here on Ravelry, depending on the size you need 50 g to 150 g per bag. For the handle, another 20 g are given, so you better order a ball for that as well. By the way, we also have embroidery thread in the store - from ITO. Marisa has been sneaking around since her podcast recording with Tanja from ITO(you can find the episode here). Iki is explicitly designed for hand embroidery, Nui can be worked by hand as well as by machine. Iki comes in the color "Pool Green" - and I think it goes perfectly with a pine branch. Since you knit several threads together for stronger lines, I would even use a lighter green for appropriate shading. Oh, head rush!

Photo: © Mari- Anne Johnsen

Last but not least, we have a little idea how you can wrap your (knitted) Christmas gifts then. How about these little bags from Mari- Anne Johnson? Birgit aka munichstitches showed us the "Tova Prosjektpose" on Instagram (because I'm not the only one to blame for too much inspiration!) and we were immediately thrilled. Depending on the size, you will need two to three balls of fritids yarn, needle size 6.5, a string or cord and a wooden bead. You can find the pattern for free on Ravelry - with us in the knitting kit there is then also the German translation.

For example, you can find a leather strap here and the beads here. Two notes at this point: These two links are so-called affiliate links - so we get a small commission if you buy through them. And for the wooden beads you have to get creative again and enlarge the hole with a drill. Then they fit perfectly!

We hope that you now have enough ideas for a Frititidsgarn project. And most importantly, that you will join us for our livestream. We would be happy!

I am the absolute Christmas person. When I recently revealed on Instagram that Michael Bublé's corresponding album was already playing in the background, there were some startled reactions. Isn't it too early for that? No. Corona messes everything up, and that includes Advent and Christmas. So I'm just extending those and bringing them forward a bit. And don't worry, the Christ Child will still come on Christmas Eve 😉 But you'll have to go through it with me today. So welcome to a very Christmassy Saturday coffee with lots of ideas what you can knit and give away now. But all without pressure. In a pinch just next year, you know. At the moment I'm like a famous construction crew from children's TV ("Can we do it?" "Jo, we can do it!").

For the right mood: The Christmas album by Michael Bublé

The basic prerequisite for this Saturday coffee with gingerbread syrup, however, is first of all the same mood. So be sure to turn on the playlist above! Optionally, you may also stock up with cookies and a coffee or tee. Feel free to bring a bigger cup, too, because the list has gotten very, very long. And at the end there will be a little announcement. A little foretaste at this point: It's about our new layout.

Christmas in view

This year I'm finally making it happen: there are Christmas cards with a photo of us. For the ultimate Christmas feeling with appropriate headdress. My husband has wished for a reindeer sweater, but time is not in it. But such a pretty Secret Santa hat is!

The pattern are also available in German, depending on the size you need two to three balls of Como from LAMANA or Alpaca Soft DK from Rowan. For all those who are dependent on machine washing - should happen with children - we can recommend the Merino 120 from Lang Yarns. The color selection is huge. By the way, the Nissehue is knitted from the bottom up and is crowned by a small tassel.

Warm for head and hands

When it comes to knitted Christmas gifts, of course, they are indispensable: hats, headbands, gloves and gauntlets. We have for men, women, children. So for all you want to knit.

Of course, Paula-m must not be missing on the designer page. You are guaranteed to find what you are looking for. For example, her book "Knitting Headbands" contains 20 different designs. But also the individual pattern, which are available via Ravelry and Etsy, are very worthwhile.

For you I have chosen here (from top left, clockwise) the Lasse Hat (with Merino 120 from Lang Yarns), the headband Ava Double (as an alternative to the original we would recommend here Bergamo from LAMANA), the Leo Hat (also from Bergamo) and the headband Klara (double Kidsilk Haze from Rowan).

You'll also find what you're looking for at our favorite Scandinavian designers My Favorite Things Knitwear, PetiteKnit, Mille Fryd Knitwear and Nina Ruth. Many of the designs you can also easily put on men's heads. From left to right and top to bottom here are the following designs for your inspiration:

Beret no. 1 by My Favorite Things Knitwear (Our yarn suggestion: Cashmere 6/28 by Pascuali), Albert's Pilot Hat by PetiteKnit (double held with Sunday by SANDNES), the headband Dahlia by Mille Fryd (knitted from Carpe Diem by Lang Yarns), Baggy Hat by PetiteKnit (Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair, also worn by teenage boys), Oslo Hat, also by PetiteKnit and meanwhile a real classic (without mohair, just knitted with the merino yarn Sunday double held) and finally the strinband Chunky Twist by Nina Ruth (you can knit it for example with Cashmere Classic or Carpe Diem by Lang Yarns).

Phew. The list almost made me dizzy. Therefore, here again in all peace and detail:

One yarn alternative is Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair by SANDNES (stitch test is mandatory, of course!). How about: Headbands for everyone this year?

Ever knitted LAMANA?

Great qualities and beautiful designs are also available at LAMANAPhotos

I'll tell you something at this point: One of my favorite yarn manufacturers from our store is LAMANA. Maybe it's because I knitted one of my first maschenfein shawls from Como. Or because the individual yarns are just great quality AND have a beautiful, diverse color palette.

Also always nice are the booklets from LAMANA, in which you can also find hat designs. These for example, to which I link you directly the matching knitting kits (from top left clockwise).

Of course, the LAMANA booklets are also such a great gift. Maybe with the matching wool? And psssst! Soon there will be a new issue!

Cozy for the neck

Even though my love for scarves always comes through, I have recently discovered loops for myself. A few weeks ago I have you in the Samstagskaffee already once designs for adults presented (please once here along). Especially for Christmas gifts, but also designs for children are suitable. I always come back to our book "Småland - Scandinavian knitting" during the research. How would it be, for example, to give a loop together with the book to the perhaps knitting mother (or father!)? In it there are many other great pattern, for example, the hat and gloves Edla.

Fact: Bags make you happy

Let's face it: bags make you happy!
Photos: © nuxknit design / © Susanne Müller / © Maschenfein /EMF Verlag

My closet says it clearly: bags make happy! And even the small ones. For example, the many small designs from nuxknit design. For you I have chosen Chestnut 2.0 (bottom left), knitted from Tove by SANDNES. I highly recommend you to check out her Ravelry account - there are so many great things there! For example, the tablet case Cashew on the top left. Unfortunately it's only available in Danish, but in such cases I trust my intuition and the Google Translator.

What I also find super: knit the famous Edda Bag (top right) of Paula-m and fill it with delicious fruit. Beautiful and practical! And definitely lower in calories than all the Christmas treats. And if you have our basic book "Stitch by Stitch" or are thinking about buying it, you'll find pattern for a cute little bag in herringbone pattern. It's also a great place to stash cosmetics you'd like to give as gifts.

Beautiful and practical for the home

Always welcome: Useful (or beautiful) odds and ends for the homePhotos
: © DUCATHI / © Sarah Schira / © Schachenmayr / © LondonLeo

In our family, we decided a few years ago not to give anything big anymore. Instead, we prefer something small and practical. Or even homemade. That suits us knitters just fine - after all, we can combine everything.

Especially at Christmas, but basically always needed, are in kitchens yes potholders. Already often knitted are the Bakers Twine of Ducathi (top left), which you knit double thread from a cotton yarn. You can use Catania from Schachenmayr or Summerlite DK from Rowan.

Secret Santa or hot water bottle?

And whoever cooks unfortunately also has to do the dishes, at least some of them. But with home-knitted dishcloths, that's only half as bad. Tanja Steinbach has designed a model for Schachenmayer (below left) and you can knit it with the Baby Smiles Cotton and make yourself or others a joy.

I'm a teensy bit in love with the two pixies at the top right of the picture. In our group chat I revealed the other day that I'm no longer really objective when it comes to Christmas. This is also reflected in my decoration. And little pixies definitely belong in my decorating fundus. You can send these here for example from the Merino 200 Bebe. The color palette gives beautiful Christmas pixies here.

And what goes better with cozy holidays than sitting on the sofa with a hot water bottle? Give away there but a beautiful cover. For example, the model below right from LondonLeo. Here we have thought about the yarn alternative a bit, because the hot water bottle should be a bit cozy! Sandra finally had the idea: Alpaca Fino from Pascuali or Bergamo from LAMANA are definitely soft and fit tighter knitted also to the gauge.

Trifles for children

Kids are quick to knitPhotos

What of course also always goes well: knitted items for children. Here I would even bring clothes into play, because smaller sizes. Marisa, for example, has fallen in love with the ballerina skirt, top left in the picture from SANDNES. The big daughter unfortunately doesn't want to wear it (kids!), but the youngest maybe? In any case, there shall be another try soon. The skirt is knitted from Mini Alpakka and the corresponding booklet is currently available at a special price, because it is no longer reprinted.

The sweater, excuse me, slipover on the bottom right is from PetiteKnit - and made from one of their favorite yarn combinations: Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair from SANDNES. If you're looking for alternatives for mohair, feel free to drop us a line. I have combined Sunday with Piura from LAMANA. The knitting is not quite as fast as with mohair (at least in my perception), but I still like the result very much. Maybe this is also something for you?

And finally, I picked out the cute cozy animals. Bosse on the top right was penned by Sandra Groll, the little bear (or dog?) is by LAMANA and crocheted. Either way, they are a nice little something for "under the Christmas tree".

One more goes

Hand or foot, what will it be?

Is your head spinning yet? I am a little bit. But I'll stop in a minute, I promise! But we can't neglect the hands and feet, can we?

A glint in the eye

Paula-m, for example, has published the Basic Mittens a few weeks ago, great mittens for everyday use. In the Ravelry description Susanne lists many yarn alternatives, of which we also have some in the store.

The Ruffle Socks from PetiteKnit I imagine quite magical to the Christmas outfit. Yes, well, you might ask who you should dress up for this year. I'll tell you: For us! For the socks you can take great the crown yarns from Regia.

I also already have two balls of our really great cashmere yarn Cashmere 6/28 from Pascuali in my basket. From this will be the gauntlets Elsa and it will be very hard for me to give them away. But they are just a beautiful gift!

In the next few weeks we will continue!

Of course, there is much, much more that you can knit and give away. In our stories we will certainly show something from time to time. In the next few weeks I will also tell you what you can give away from the accessories section or put on your own wish list. And of course you can also buy vouchers in the store and give them to a knitter. That always goes down well!

And if you want to start knitting right now, I have something nice for you! Yesterday Marisa and I recorded a fresh episode for our podcast "On the needles". In it, I talk about what I was up to before Maschenfein and how I ended up here in the first place. We had a lot of fun recording and not only because Marisa is still in the middle of homeschooling!

And now: drum roll!

Despite all the unpredictability, we are still working diligently on our new layout. And at the very beginning of this Saturday Coffee I hinted at it: We have made a big step forward! In our stories on Instagram you can already get a taste of what's to come. And next week, we're finally going to unveil our new logo. Where? In the newsletter! Because the newsletter will also appear in a fresh new look and is looking forward to being read by you again. If you haven't subscribed to us yet, please scroll down to the bottom of the maschenfein.com homepage. There you will find a field where you can enter your address. We are looking forward to seeing you!

But for now, I wish you a wonderful weekend, with lots of knitting and planning time for your Christmas presents. But don't forget: Don't stress. For my part, I only do what I can manage. This year in particular, we really don't need the extra pressure. Instead, there is one more cookie. Make yourselves comfortable and stay healthy!

What.a.week. When I wrote the other day at "On the needles" "still two months 2020" was actually meant as a little joke. But after the past few days I somehow think to myself that this New Year's Eve will also be associated with a little relief. Not because everything will be better on January 1, but because we can at least make a hook behind 2020.

Like you probably, it often helps me to knit a few rows. Head off, worries aside, a few stitches instead. By the way, did you know that we even have a book in the store dedicated to this very topic? In her book "Becoming healthy and happy with knitting" the author Betsan Corkhill shows the results of her study with over 3500 patients for whom knitting was used as a therapeutic measure. During our favorite hobby, the mind reaches its natural state. You switch off, forget about stress and prevent illness. Head and body are in harmony with each other. Maybe the book will be a great gift for you!

About the book "Become healthy and happy with knitting".

If you want to knit, of course you need inspiration. In a fashion column the other day I read about turtlenecks and that they are versatile. We could choose to spend a cozy Saturday at home in them, or go to the office in a casual way. Even if probably no one sees us there, because home office. But anyway, Corona will please pass sometime!

Fashion, on the other hand, remains and has always fascinated me. And when I read about it now, I always think: How can I do this myself? Frequent answer: I knit it myself!

Designs from Scandinavia

Already a few weeks ago I came across the Collar No.1 from My Favorite Things Knitwear and the Under the Coat from Mille Fryd Knitwear. The Scandinavians always have such a sense for what is in, but also timeless.

For the Collar No. 1 we have considered as a yarn alternative to the original Bergamo by LAMANA and Kidsilk Haze by Rowan. If you like to knit SANDNES, you can also use the combination Alpakka Ull and Tynn Silk Mohair. Either way, we'll be happy to help you with questions about color combinations! By the way, you knit the front and back separately, from the bottom up in the brioche pattern. The yoke is formed with increases and decreases.

Under the Coat is started at the lower back and knitted in rows. Since the piece is also worn directly on the neck, it must of course also be cozy soft. That's why we chose Bergamo from LAMANA. I'm currently wearing my Diary Cardigan from ANKESTRiCK and will probably not take it off for the rest of the weekend, so warm and soft it is.

For mohair lovers

If you love mohair, you'll be happy with this model by Norwegian Ida Wirak Trettevik: Snug Turtleneck is knit from the bottom up with three strands of a silk mohair yarn. Our suggestion for this is the already above-mentioned Kidsilk Haze by Rowan, whose color palette should find every knitter.

The sweater is "cropped", so designed shortened. But you can easily extend it or use it for the so-called layered look. With high-cut pants or a shirt underneath I imagine him really nice. Since the sleeves are cut rather tight, the oversize character of the torso comes even better to the fore.

Man and child embroidery

In our recent survey there was also a request for men's designs. Of course, we also have knitting kits for you in the store. Nevertheless, we want to show you in the future in the Saturday Coffee from time to time specifically designs for your men. After all, Christmas is just around the corner, right?

In our kits you will find, for example, the sweater Sjømannsribb by SANDNES, equipped with a slightly raised collar. It is knitted with the yarn SUNDAY by Sandnes - an uncomplicated virgin wool yarn with a wide color palette. In our Facebook group I recently read the tip, for the right size selection simply measure a gladly worn sweater of the friend/husband/father/grandfather/etc. and compare it with the measurements given in the kit.

By the way, the sweater is also available in a children's version, which goes for boys and girls alike. Here is also knitted from the Sunday. I am sure you will find a color that your child / godchild / nephew / niece / etc. like!

From Laine? Bought!

Anyone who knows me knows that I love the Finnish magazine Laine. They are so good, they could also sell me a washing machine. In the eighth issue there was also a design with a turtleneck, but here in a very loose version. This sweater was designed by Justyna Lorkowska from Poland. So three loves fall together at once: Turtleneck love, Laine love, Polish food love. Yeah, I'm a sucker for those. Luckily, the dumpling season is just getting started!

But back to the basics: The textured pattern sweater Honeydew is worked in rounds from the bottom up, before the work is divided at armpit level and the front and back are finished separately in rows. The ribbed neckband and plain knit sleeves are then worked. By the way, it was not intentional that I present here today all bottom-up designs. It just happened, honestly! The pattern are now also available separately on Ravelry. Whereby I really recommend the magazines - I repeat myself - to you.

As a yarn combination we have packed Sensai and Rakuda from ITO in the knitting kit. Mega, I tell you. Really! I knitted the Easy triangle shawl from it and wear it very, very gladly. I would also love to wear the sweater. Who knits it for me?

Extrading

If you prefer to let off steam on smaller projects, Kerstin has published a small, very pretty cracker this week:

With two skeins of the yarn Extra from Blue Sky Fibers you can knit a hat, loop AND mini tulips (the pattern are also available as a bundle). That's how well we're doing with 150g skeins 😉 The summery colors are unfortunately out of stock right now, but everything muted, wintery is there. All three styles are knit in rounds with a simple pattern of crossed stitches.

Have you seen that we have expanded our needle assortment? You can now also find the needle systems from KnitPro in the store. In general, needles are a great Christmas gift. We now have such a good selection that there really is something for everyone. Have a look at our accessories. And should we maybe make you an article about our favorite needles?

Fresh from the blog

On the blog this week there was again - I've already told you above - a post from the realm "On the needles". After all, we now have November! With us, a pretty clear trend towards accessories is emerging. A rogue, who thinks of Christmas and possibly knitted actions...

And also in our knitting round the cozy knit has arrived. That Snefnug is available in stock again (or "was" - some is unfortunately already gone, but reordered!), you can see quite clearly on Instagram. Dagmar has already made a sample and charlima42 has the Over the Edge Scarf by ChrisBerlin on the needles.

Verena Mathilde has chosen some really great colors for the Slipstravaganza Knitalong by Stephen West. She knits three yarns at once: Babyull Lanett from SANDNES, Cumbria from Pascuali and Sensai from ITO. I'm mega excited to see the finished piece! You can discover a shawl - our classic Hinata - at Sabine 's site. Along with a pretty project bag from muud. You all know what is beautiful. Have a great weekend!

Two more months 2020! Or also: We have November (a month, by the way, I like very much!). So it's also time again for "On the needles". We'll tell you what we're knitting right now and of course you're welcome to share what you're working on under this post. On Instagram just use the hashtag #aufdennadelnnovember. Or you can show your (started) works in our Facebook group. Either way, we're just knitting away all the worries and negative thoughts as best we can. Oh, and as a little extra we have thought of a nice action for you, of which we already tell you a little detail below.

Maschenfein in accessories fever

Sandra knits cap Ole from Paula-mPhoto

Even if the mild temperatures don't suggest it right now - it's definitely autumn. And what belongs in autumn? Beanies of course! Sandra knows that too and has therefore chosen cap Ole from Paula-m.

Ole according to an pattern by Paula-m with double folded cuff, knitted from cashmere 6/28 in half brioche. Who knows me, knows how much I love (half) brioche and so Ole has me to my next project quasi angefixt

Sandra Groll

Depending on the circumference of your head and whether you want to work the cuff twice or not, you will need two to four balls of cashmere yarn. Alternatively, you can also knit the combination Merida and Premia from LAMANA. Depending on the size, you will need one to two balls of Merida and one ball of Premia (by the way, one of my favorites when it comes to silk-mohair yarns).

Jule also knits something for the head - her own design: the headband Vicky. Such a piece is ideal for anyone who wants to practice knitting cable patterns. With two balls of Bergamo, it's also quickly finished. Do I hear the word "Christmas gift"? I think so...

Rope for the neck

Let's move down the body a bit. What's there? The neck. And of course it has to be knitted in, cold protection and all. Sophia takes the subject seriously and therefore knits two loops. Better safe than sorry! One of them is simply a long-term project. You know: the Osaka in rounds.

The Osaka is knitted from ITO's Sensai, also a wonderful silk-mohair yarn with an insanely beautiful color palette. Especially now, when the stress may increase again, it is a super knitting project where you just do not have to think.

Slightly more elaborate, but really also suitable for beginners, is the loop "Encadré" by Julie Hoover. We already presented it to you in detail a few weeks ago in Saturday Coffee. In the knitting kit we have packed the Cashmere Lace by Pascuali, but you can also - like Sophia - take the Milano by LAMANA. Whatever you decide, the loop is suitable for all who want to dare to knit multicolored, but for whom a whole sweater or cardigan is still too much.

Sophia knits the loop a little smaller (three balls of main color, one ball of contrast color). If you want to get to the original size, we recommend you to take five balls in the main color and two in the contrast color. This way you should have enough left over after the loop to knit the cuffs from our basic book "Stitch by Stitch".

Warm feet

At Marisa's house, slippers are knittedPhoto

As is well known, the feet are located at the very bottom of the body. And they also want to be wrapped up warmly. How about a wonderful pair of felted slippers?

Marisa knits cute felt slippers from SANDNES fritids yarn for the young man in the house. The construction is quite interesting (and not only because Marisa knitted according to the Norwegian pattern). You have now really got the desire to felt? Then stay tuned! We have thought up a great action for you. You'll find out more this week! But you can already start the slippers 😉 And choose your favorite color at the Fritidsgarn.

To provide a little variety in the daily knitting routine, Sandra has also chosen a design from one of the Laine magazines. I just say: Laine, design by Kathrin Schneider, brioche knit, Alpaca Fino. Finished is a favorite project. In blue, of course! Or as Sandra herself said, "It's good for the soul!"

Whether one thread on the left, one on the right, both on the left, both around the index finger, or one here, the other around the middle finger... The technique of multicolor knitting is fascinating. Not to mention the history of the individual patterns themselves. In two articles and a podcast episode, we've already taken you on a journey to the Shetland Islands and Norway. Today, on the other hand, we're romping around on our own doorstep. In the fourth part of our series "Multicolored Knitting" we would like to show you some of our knitting pattern. And don't worry: Below I link you to the individual articles again, so that you have everything together. Have fun being inspired 🙂 .

Nissa is knitted from Como by LAMANA.

Maschenfein

Not new, but quasi reissued we have the shawl Nissa from the second shawl book "Noch mehrTüchers stricken". Unfortunately, this book is no longer sold, but we are now allowed to offer you the pattern separately. For this reason, we have had our classic re-photographed and are still blown away.

Nissa is knitted from the center of the long side, with increases in the center and on both edges. The beginning is stockinette stitch, followed by three pattern pieces in jacquard technique, where from the inside out the proportion of the first color decreases and the proportion of the second color increases. So it's also a good project to practice multicolored knitting. And Como by LAMANA is one of my favorite yarns! The yarn is made of 100 percent merino virgin wool and wears pleasantly soft and light.

We have also incorporated the pattern of the scarf into the cuffs Nissa.

Maschenfein

By the way, we also have the gauntlets in the store to match the shawl, if you want to knit a set or have a smaller project first. I am just totally in the gauntlet fever. I also like to wear them when working, because the hands are always the first to get cold (and the nose - but there's nothing knitted for ;-)).

Cuddle knit for the soul

Another cozy piece and ideal for getting started in multicolored knitting.

Maschenfein

Do you still remember our book "Hygge Woglfühlkleidung stricken"? It's already a good two years old - it's amazing how time flies! In the meantime it also has a new name: Knitting feel-good clothes in oversize look. But the designs are still the same, including the soul warmer Bjarka. With it you can practice knitting with two colors within one row.

The knitting kit is available twice in the store. Once with Kos from SANDNES and once with Snefnug from CaMaRose. Both are tubular yarns. In each case, a blend on merino and alpaca is blown into the tube during the manufacturing process, creating a beautiful, voluminous yarn. The difference betweenKos and Snefnug: In Kos the tube is made of nylon, with Snefnug from cotton. You decide which you prefer - the color palette is great for both!

Start small first?

You do not yet dare to a cardigan or a whole scarf? Then maybe a cap would be something for you.

Our last hat collection included two designs from the realm of multicolored knitting: Winter stillness (above) and Breeze of winter (below). The latter is even a doubleface project.

In the knitting kit for Winter silence you will find the above mentioned yarn Kos from SANDNES. First you knit a long cuff, which is then folded over. The subsequent fair isle pattern is definitely doable even for beginners.

Winter breath has a double worked cuff. Then take the stitches of the provisional cast-on and the working stitches together on the needles and knit the pattern in doubleface technique. In this way, you end up with a hat that you can easily turn around. By the way, we knit with Milano from LAMANA. The yarn consists of 90 percent merino wool and ten percent cashmere.

Finally, I link you again our other two articles on multicolored knitting and our podcast: So you have nice everything together 😉 We wish you in any case have fun browsing and knitting!
