{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}
Each of you probably knows the famous game "I'm going on a trip". It goes on and on, and you always have to repeat what has already been said. At Maschenfein, we've found that planning a project for our summer vacation is much the same. As soon as you do have a rock-solid plan the the next person tells you about their project and poof: you have it on the list yourself. Well - that's just the way it is.
A wonderful good morning to the Saturday coffee with packing list function! The first german state is already on vacation. And even if the south still has to wait a bit, you can already dream yourself with the new projects directly to the beach or the mountains or wherever. The main thing is that it relaxes and makes you happy.
Summer yarns: beautiful just by looking at them!
I can already dream about it while browsing through our yarn assortment. At our team meeting last week, we took another look at the summer candidates represented among them. We have quite a few of them in our store and each one has its own special features and advantages. For example, Sparrow by Quince & Co. I was surprised how delicate the skeins are - the yarn runs 155 meters on 50 grams. So you'll have to wind the skein before you start knitting, because I can promise you: Knitting off the skein ends in disaster 99.9% of the time 😉.
Sparrow is a pure linen yarn. And when I say "delicate", I really mean the appearance in this case. The feel is - quite typical for the natural fiber - rather grippy. But (!) that says nothing about the feel afterwards. It is recommended to knead the finished knitted piece a little after washing and drying. In addition, it becomes softer with each wear and, last but not least, has the very pleasant property of regulating the body temperature well. That's Linen!
Knit twice and three times if you like!
Brand new we have created for you with Sparrow the Yoreum Top from aegyoknit. Here you knit double stranded top down. Start at the back, knit the front parts from the shoulders and close the round under the armpits. Eye-catcher is the lace pattern, which runs on the front part from the collar to the hem.
Also a candidate for Sparrow is the Argil Top by Clare Lakewood. It was in our Maschenfein knitting round last week and has been turning our heads a bit ever since. We've created two kits for you: one with Sparrow and one with Organic Cotton by Krea Deluxe. Here you knit from the bottom up. You can get the pattern via Ravelry. If you like, you can buy the whole Pom Pom magazine, where the pattern was published in 2018, as an e-book. I highly recommend it: I also like the cardigan Earthern or the top Sanctuary a lot.

Now also as a knitting kit at Maschenfein!
Last week I have also already shown you the SONYA shirt from Paula_m. This week Jule has then directly created it as a knitting kit and it is simply just beautiful. I really like the simple designs of Susanne - just like the yarn used here Pinta by Pascuali.
Similar to linen, the fiber ramie used here also has a temperature-regulating effect, which is further enhanced by the silk content. But with 60% virgin wool, Pinta is of course also a great candidate for late summer or even fall, when it's no longer too hot, but still warm enough for short sleeves.
The clever knitter plans ahead
Personally, I could just escalate completely, which concerns my maschenfein shopping cart. I pack, throw out again, put it back in (often the same product), keep adding to it(lint razor? Yes, yes, of course I need that!), put colors together and and and. One wishes I would be similarly committed to the summer laundry mountain in the basement! (Like hell kids' clothes stay clean longer in the summer... LIKE HELL!!!).
The final decision, which project may go on vacation with me, has not yet fallen! I make it here probably exciting until the end. Because of course, I will have the project, which I have ordered now, ready in four weeks. O.f.c.o.u.r.s.e. So the question of what I'm going to order quickly in 25 days (I take into account the shipping time, of course) remains unanswered.
Loose fit has it
So it's best to keep on noticing possible projects (gladly on different channels, so that I don't lose the overview). And keep thinking. How about Hør no 16 by Lone Kjeldsen, for example? The striped shirt is knit top down. The great shoulder area is created by short rows. Since I'm completely in ice-cream mode right now (swimming ten lanes once a week at the outdoor pool definitely justifies five times ice cream for dessert during the day week), the loose fit suits me just fine (haha). The positive ease is ten to 20 cm or as I call it: three instead of two scoops of ice cream. And because of all the meal planning I forgot to tell you our yarn recommendation: Lino from BC Yarn.
If you're in the mood for a color mix but don't want to knit stripes: Blouse No. 1 from My Favourite Things Knitwear would also be a great project for summer! Here you knit double stranded with Pure Silk from Knitting for Olive top down.
I'll be honest: When I saw the model for the first time, I thought I could really walk by here without flinching. But (!) now I've seen it a few times from a different perspective (namely here at Sibel's, here at Julie 's or here at Karen-Marie's) - and yet get very wavering. Like really hard. A different color just makes so much difference! And even if you change the perspective a bit. Not everything is love at first sight, sometimes something has to grow first (tested for you in real life). And about the advantages of silk for the summer I certainly do not have to tell you anything. So: Who needs now maybe a silky sweater?

If you prefer to knit solid, but still very easy: From Lotilda we have very fresh the knitting kit for the Mika Summer V Shirt in the store. The highlight here: The back neckline is constructed so that you can also wear it in the front. The deep V-neckline moves to the back. You knit double stranded from Tynn Silk Mohair by Sandnes.

Cotton - also a dear summer fiber!
Last week I had also promised you to pick out designs for the yarn Økologisk Pimabomuld by CaMaRose. Sandra has tested the yarn (or nibbled, as we call it internally) and ends up with 26 to 28 stitches. This makes for a lot of beautiful possibilities!
In addition to many designs of PetiteKnit, such as the Ankers Tee or the Sunday Tee for big and small, the Brighton Tee by Cheryl Mokhtari is also an option. A very good one, in fact! It's a great short-sleeved shirt with clever stripes. You see, they're two-tone. Take a close look!
Holy Moly, immediately a second coffee!
At this point I advise you to quickly get the second coffee. Or the third, for example, if you also "like" to get up early. Like my kids ("Five o'clock? No problem!"). Because there are some really great news from Maschenfein!
You may have already seen the new banner that appears at the top of our page. We have lowered the limit for free shipping. From now on you can buy from us free of shipping costs within Germany from a value of goods of 75 euros. At the same time we have increased the cancellation period: You now have 30 days to return your package. Even if we hope of course that there is no reason for it. But sometimes a color does not fit or it is not the right yarn ... Of course, our shipping remains climate neutral!
Contact via messenger
Another big change is now in our contact options. Perhaps you have already noticed the round icon at the bottom left of our page: From now on you can reach us via WhatsApp as well as via mail and phone. After clicking on the icon, WhatsApp Web will open in your browser and you can send us a message there (the chat will open automatically). Please note, however, that we only reply to messages sent via WhatsApp within our regular working hours and that we process all messages - regardless of how they reach us - as soon as we receive them 🙂 .
New customization option
Until tomorrow evening you can also buy the great knitting accessories that we have developed in collaboration with the Leipzig label Franziska Klee. As always, the products made of fine leather are manufactured after receipt of order - so the delivery time is longer than usual. But in the end you will hold a wonderful, handmade favorite piece in your hands.
By the way, you have repeatedly asked us whether it would be possible to have the bags individually embossed. Until now, we unfortunately had to deny this, but from now on it is possible! Simply click on "Individual embossing" in the corresponding product and enter your text and the embossing color. Please note that the number of possible letters varies from bag to bag - depending on the size. Maki, our small bag for stitch markers, is an exception: Due to its size, embossing is simply not possible.

By the way: Always available from Franzi are the great keychains or the leather straps. They are perfect for the French Market Bag from PetiteKnit. Normally we still have the straps from PetiteKnit as an alternative - but they are currently sold out and we can not reorder them. The happier we are about Franzi's accessories, because a French Market Bag is virtually a must for the summer.
Maschenfein knitting round
Must have for summer - I have a few of these on my list! Thanks to you guys, too. What's going on in our knitting round? See for yourself:
Kristin knits The First Sweater from HIVE knits in Merino and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive. Didn't know it yet. Quite badly it is now with me!
Allesnurmeins has finished her Notice Spring shirt from Ankestrick in Cumbria by Pascuali. It's perfect for the slightly fresher summer at the moment!
The already several times mentioned French Market Bag you can find at Michaela. Which leads me to the question of whether I do not need a second version in another color. Could be good.
Finally, Lisa shows you the Hedda Tee, a maschenfein design by Marisa, which is currently being tested. Look forward to it! Kosho and Gima by Ito will be used.
I'm going into seclusion now. Sorting out thoughts and projects. And you? Which projects can't you decide between? Have a great weekend with hopefully lots of summer and knitting time!
