Sandnes - Alpakka Silke

Alpakka Silke is a wonderful blend of 70% baby alpaca and 30% mulberry silk. The silk gives the yarn a beautiful sheen. With a meterage of 200 m per 50 g, it is suitable for finely knitted clothing such as noble cardigans and sweaters, but also shawls.

The Sandnes yarns can be combined in great colors and Alpakka Silke can also be worked together with Silk Mohair or Tynn Silk Mohair.

Responsibility

The alpaca wool comes from Peru, where the animals can live freely and are sheared only once a year. The silk comes from China.
Sandnes is committed to making their sustainable and responsible contribution in the ecological cycle. They are in the process of establishing a fully traceable supply chain. The alpacas and Norwegian sheep are raised freely on uncultivated land, so no deforestation or anything like that is necessary. In addition, green electricity from hydropower is used for production and the water used is then purified again.
