{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

Each of you probably knows the famous game "I'm going on a trip". It goes on and on, and you always have to repeat what has already been said. At Maschenfein, we've found that planning a project for our summer vacation is much the same. As soon as you do have a rock-solid plan the the next person tells you about their project and poof: you have it on the list yourself. Well - that's just the way it is.

A wonderful good morning to the Saturday coffee with packing list function! The first german state is already on vacation. And even if the south still has to wait a bit, you can already dream yourself with the new projects directly to the beach or the mountains or wherever. The main thing is that it relaxes and makes you happy.

Summer yarns: beautiful just by looking at them!

I can already dream about it while browsing through our yarn assortment. At our team meeting last week, we took another look at the summer candidates represented among them. We have quite a few of them in our store and each one has its own special features and advantages. For example, Sparrow by Quince & Co. I was surprised how delicate the skeins are - the yarn runs 155 meters on 50 grams. So you'll have to wind the skein before you start knitting, because I can promise you: Knitting off the skein ends in disaster 99.9% of the time 😉.

This may go easily with the summer knitting list: Yoreum Top

Sparrow is a pure linen yarn. And when I say "delicate", I really mean the appearance in this case. The feel is - quite typical for the natural fiber - rather grippy. But (!) that says nothing about the feel afterwards. It is recommended to knead the finished knitted piece a little after washing and drying. In addition, it becomes softer with each wear and, last but not least, has the very pleasant property of regulating the body temperature well. That's Linen!

Knit twice and three times if you like!

Brand new we have created for you with Sparrow the Yoreum Top from aegyoknit. Here you knit double stranded top down. Start at the back, knit the front parts from the shoulders and close the round under the armpits. Eye-catcher is the lace pattern, which runs on the front part from the collar to the hem.

Also a candidate for Sparrow is the Argil Top by Clare Lakewood. It was in our Maschenfein knitting round last week and has been turning our heads a bit ever since. We've created two kits for you: one with Sparrow and one with Organic Cotton by Krea Deluxe. Here you knit from the bottom up. You can get the pattern via Ravelry. If you like, you can buy the whole Pom Pom magazine, where the pattern was published in 2018, as an e-book. I highly recommend it: I also like the cardigan Earthern or the top Sanctuary a lot.

Now also as a knitting kit at Maschenfein!

Last week I have also already shown you the SONYA shirt from Paula_m. This week Jule has then directly created it as a knitting kit and it is simply just beautiful. I really like the simple designs of Susanne - just like the yarn used here Pinta by Pascuali.

Similar to linen, the fiber ramie used here also has a temperature-regulating effect, which is further enhanced by the silk content. But with 60% virgin wool, Pinta is of course also a great candidate for late summer or even fall, when it's no longer too hot, but still warm enough for short sleeves.

The clever knitter plans ahead

Hør no 16
Stripes at Hør no 16.

Personally, I could just escalate completely, which concerns my maschenfein shopping cart. I pack, throw out again, put it back in (often the same product), keep adding to it(lint razor? Yes, yes, of course I need that!), put colors together and and and. One wishes I would be similarly committed to the summer laundry mountain in the basement! (Like hell kids' clothes stay clean longer in the summer... LIKE HELL!!!).

The final decision, which project may go on vacation with me, has not yet fallen! I make it here probably exciting until the end. Because of course, I will have the project, which I have ordered now, ready in four weeks. O.f.c.o.u.r.s.e. So the question of what I'm going to order quickly in 25 days (I take into account the shipping time, of course) remains unanswered.

Loose fit has it

So it's best to keep on noticing possible projects (gladly on different channels, so that I don't lose the overview). And keep thinking. How about Hør no 16 by Lone Kjeldsen, for example? The striped shirt is knit top down. The great shoulder area is created by short rows. Since I'm completely in ice-cream mode right now (swimming ten lanes once a week at the outdoor pool definitely justifies five times ice cream for dessert during the day week), the loose fit suits me just fine (haha). The positive ease is ten to 20 cm or as I call it: three instead of two scoops of ice cream. And because of all the meal planning I forgot to tell you our yarn recommendation: Lino from BC Yarn.

If you're in the mood for a color mix but don't want to knit stripes: Blouse No. 1 from My Favourite Things Knitwear would also be a great project for summer! Here you knit double stranded with Pure Silk from Knitting for Olive top down.

I'll be honest: When I saw the model for the first time, I thought I could really walk by here without flinching. But (!) now I've seen it a few times from a different perspective (namely here at Sibel's, here at Julie 's or here at Karen-Marie's) - and yet get very wavering. Like really hard. A different color just makes so much difference! And even if you change the perspective a bit. Not everything is love at first sight, sometimes something has to grow first (tested for you in real life). And about the advantages of silk for the summer I certainly do not have to tell you anything. So: Who needs now maybe a silky sweater?

Mika Summer V Shirt

Photo: © Lotilda

If you prefer to knit solid, but still very easy: From Lotilda we have very fresh the knitting kit for the Mika Summer V Shirt in the store. The highlight here: The back neckline is constructed so that you can also wear it in the front. The deep V-neckline moves to the back. You knit double stranded from Tynn Silk Mohair by Sandnes.

Cotton - also a dear summer fiber!

Last week I had also promised you to pick out designs for the yarn Økologisk Pimabomuld by CaMaRose. Sandra has tested the yarn (or nibbled, as we call it internally) and ends up with 26 to 28 stitches. This makes for a lot of beautiful possibilities!

In addition to many designs of PetiteKnit, such as the Ankers Tee or the Sunday Tee for big and small, the Brighton Tee by Cheryl Mokhtari is also an option. A very good one, in fact! It's a great short-sleeved shirt with clever stripes. You see, they're two-tone. Take a close look!

Holy Moly, immediately a second coffee!

It's time for the second cup of coffee!
Photo: © Ines Grabner / Maschenfein

At this point I advise you to quickly get the second coffee. Or the third, for example, if you also "like" to get up early. Like my kids ("Five o'clock? No problem!"). Because there are some really great news from Maschenfein!

You may have already seen the new banner that appears at the top of our page. We have lowered the limit for free shipping. From now on you can buy from us free of shipping costs within Germany from a value of goods of 75 euros. At the same time we have increased the cancellation period: You now have 30 days to return your package. Even if we hope of course that there is no reason for it. But sometimes a color does not fit or it is not the right yarn ... Of course, our shipping remains climate neutral!

Contact via messenger

Another big change is now in our contact options. Perhaps you have already noticed the round icon at the bottom left of our page: From now on you can reach us via WhatsApp as well as via mail and phone. After clicking on the icon, WhatsApp Web will open in your browser and you can send us a message there (the chat will open automatically). Please note, however, that we only reply to messages sent via WhatsApp within our regular working hours and that we process all messages - regardless of how they reach us - as soon as we receive them 🙂 .

New customization option

Until tomorrow evening you can also buy the great knitting accessories that we have developed in collaboration with the Leipzig label Franziska Klee. As always, the products made of fine leather are manufactured after receipt of order - so the delivery time is longer than usual. But in the end you will hold a wonderful, handmade favorite piece in your hands.

By the way, you have repeatedly asked us whether it would be possible to have the bags individually embossed. Until now, we unfortunately had to deny this, but from now on it is possible! Simply click on "Individual embossing" in the corresponding product and enter your text and the embossing color. Please note that the number of possible letters varies from bag to bag - depending on the size. Maki, our small bag for stitch markers, is an exception: Due to its size, embossing is simply not possible.

By the way: Always available from Franzi are the great keychains or the leather straps. They are perfect for the French Market Bag from PetiteKnit. Normally we still have the straps from PetiteKnit as an alternative - but they are currently sold out and we can not reorder them. The happier we are about Franzi's accessories, because a French Market Bag is virtually a must for the summer.

Maschenfein knitting round

Must have for summer - I have a few of these on my list! Thanks to you guys, too. What's going on in our knitting round? See for yourself:

Kristin knits The First Sweater from HIVE knits in Merino and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive. Didn't know it yet. Quite badly it is now with me!

Allesnurmeins has finished her Notice Spring shirt from Ankestrick in Cumbria by Pascuali. It's perfect for the slightly fresher summer at the moment!

The already several times mentioned French Market Bag you can find at Michaela. Which leads me to the question of whether I do not need a second version in another color. Could be good.

Finally, Lisa shows you the Hedda Tee, a maschenfein design by Marisa, which is currently being tested. Look forward to it! Kosho and Gima by Ito will be used.

I'm going into seclusion now. Sorting out thoughts and projects. And you? Which projects can't you decide between? Have a great weekend with hopefully lots of summer and knitting time!

{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

There are things that should be taken seriously. An acute attack of castonsitis, for example. That is, the irresistible urge to cast on a new project. Inevitably, the question arises: What to do? Or: Is there anything from Maschenfein?

But of course there is! A wonderful good morning to your Saturday coffee! If you have any questions about your next knitting project, it's best to ask your Maschenfein team. Or you can read this Saturday Coffee. Best to do both - as we all know, double is better(Oops! Did I order two knitting projects?!).

Romantic-playful

Well, whether one or two new knitting projects - the smart knitter takes care, I would say. Sometimes you just don't feel like doing the one. That's when you need a second project! And it is better, we provide on the needles for lively variety than in other places in life (here now please each interprets the suitable for itself ... ;-))

Monoi top
Very romantic: Monoi Top.
Photo: © Marzena Kolaczek

Sometimes, for example, I just want to knit stockinette stitch. Don't think much, just knit knit stitches in rounds. But then there are moments when it may be a knitting chart. A clever technique or even sewing work at the end. Really! As much as I like knitting from the top down - I also like to sew things together (Well, everything except Icords. They make me weak when sewing).

Thoughts about carriers are not necessary

The other day I discovered the Monoi Top by Marzena Kolaczek. The designer stands for playful, romantic designs - gladly in all colors of the pinky spectrum. Well, of course, once again a model of her had to go to the coffee and of course you can knit the things in other colors.

Brand new - and via Ravelry also available in German - is the pattern for just that top with ruched straps and lace pattern. What I find particularly clever: Inside is a stockinette stitch knitted bra, so you don't have to worry about straps that might peek out again and again. Knit from the bottom up using Summer in Kashmir from BC Yarn.

Prefer a purist knitting project?

If you prefer something more subtle, but still not only stockinette stitch: Stripes are always an option. A very good one, in fact. For example, with the Lined Loop Tee from Other Loops. Here you work with Pinta from Pascuali and knit top down. Besides the stripes, the eye-catcher is the basic rib pattern, the armholes are bordered with an Icord.

Pinta is a completely wonderful yarn. So soft, I tell you! At the same time, it has a delicate sheen due to the silk content. And why it is suitable for summer despite virgin wool? Because the natural fiber ramie (also called "China grass" or "linen of the East") ensures good moisture absorption.

Coming this weekend: SONYA Shirt

Quite simple, super beautiful: SONYA shirt.
Photo via Instagram: © instagram.com/paulastrickt

And because Pinta is so great, I'll also show you the SONYA shirt from Paula_m. The pattern should be released today and we will create the matching kit next week as soon as possible for you.

The shirt is wonderfully light and flowing and fits just perfect in the summer. The light version in the picture is knitted from Pinta , the gray one from double-threaded Verona by Lamana held together with an alpaca supplementary thread. Here you could use for example Piura - also Lamana. But it is also possible to knit single stranded with Bio Balance from BC Yarn. The gauge is 24 stitches in stockinette stitch. So I could still use such a simple shirt. You too?

As the saying goes: stripes always go ...

Tavalli top
Emphasized increases on the arms ...
... and loose cut.

Another wonderful addition to your wardrobe is the Tavalli Top from Rosa P. Here you can optionally knit stripes - but you don't have to. The classic top is worked top down in one piece. Eye-catchers are the accentuated increases on the arms. The fit is kept loose, but not at all shapeless. I call such a thing "strawberry pie-friendly" or "onemoredishatthebarbequeplease-friendly". The main thing is that it tastes good! In the kit you'll find Cotton Merino from Knitting for Olive and you can also order the pattern directly.

Air Tee
The back view! Air Tee.

From the same yarn you can also knit the Air Tee from Ozetta Knitwear. We have already created the matching kit for you, the pattern (in English) is available on Ravelry. I like here the back view so, so well!

Work the shirt top down. Start in rows, from the armpits the shirt is knitted in the round. Icords bind off the edges. Yes, sometimes it doesn't take much at all and it's still just beautiful!

Washi and Kinu - this combo ...

A yarn combo that we are more than happy with right now (maybe some are addicted to it) is Kinu and Washi by Ito. This is where silk meets paper and rayon. Awesome! So nice and light, a bit grippy, but not at all scratchy. We totally like it! That's why we brought out the shirt Big in Japan by Katrin Schneider again for our summer special newsletter this week. How - you missed the newsletter? Well, then sign up quickly so that you don't miss any more info in the future! And here you can read again what you can knit during the vacations.

Big in Japan is an all time favorite for us. You can order the pattern directly in the kit and "only" have to choose one color. Or take two - the shirt knitted top down is simply a perennial favorite!

Simply the perfect t-shirt

Perfect Knit T-Shirt
Fits in your closet, too: Perfect Knit T-shirt.
Photo: © Kaitlin Barthold

The Perfect Knit T-Shirt by Kaitlin Barthold is also made from the same yarn combination (an alternative would be Cosma by Lamana). Again, you'll knit from the top down. Another one of those simple pieces that fits in any wardrobe . The pattern is available via Ravelry in English. Our free translation table will surely help you - so don't be afraid!

And of course I recommend you at this point again our Maschenfein Küselshirt . You can also knit it from kinu and washi . And the question at the moment is simply: Are you still knitting or are you already "küseling"? 😉

A summer bag goes of course also still ...

We in the team are also susceptible to bags of all kinds. Since we already have a considerable, but of course still far too small collection. Luck (or misfortune) is the appearance of the pattern for Cleo Clutch and Purse by PetiteKnit. Marisa ordered directly the matching yarn - Crealino by Lang Yarns. So many bright colors!

Both designs can be knitted in two different sizes each. Unfortunately we can't reorder the frame for the small clutch version right now because it's sold out, but we really hope it will be available again soon. The large frame is in stock though, as are the matching zippers for the small bag and the respective lining....

Both designs are worked in three strands. The Clutch is worked from the bottom of the garment to the top in the round. The Purse is worked from the top down. The look of the yarn is reminiscent of raffia and makes - once again - desire summer, sun and beach.

Such a simple little bag goes of course also quite wonderful as a vacation project. Cleo Clutch.

At this point also again the note that we offer at the end of next week again a small sale slot for our Franzi-Klee products. The fine leather bags are just so high quality processed and beautiful to look at! Besides our big knitting bag Mona you can also buy needle cases or small accessory bags. After the end of the order round, all products are handmade in Leipzig. Each piece is unique and production surplus is avoided. Simply really maschenfein!

Maschenfein meets in real

It got really maschenfein for us this week. We all - really all! - got together in Berlin for a team meeting. In the meantime there are eight of us and it was the first time we saw each other in this constellation. It was great, I tell you! And even if some of you might think that we "only" knitted - no, no! We talked a lot: about the Maschenfein site, about the technology behind it, about ordering processes, about the shopping experience, and so on. We also created content for Instagram and planned new promotions.

As you can see, there was a lot going on! The fun, the knitting and especially the delicious food were of course not neglected! Unfortunately, we forgot to take a team photo because of all the work. But on Instagram you can find a great reel with the whole team, the photo here shows a small part of it.

We were so into it that we forgot the team photo. But here's a screenshot for you!

Thinking on an empty stomach is not good.
And of course, the Maschenfein office was also closely scrutinized.

New yarn at Maschenfein

Of course, we have also examined a few yarns. We are planning a little video in which we want to show you our favorite yarns for the summer. And it occurred to me that I haven't even introduced you to our newest addition yet. That's because Økologisk Pimabomuld by CaMaRose has just arrived. The yarn consists exclusively of Pima cotton, which has particularly long fibers and therefore can only be handpicked. Precisely because they are so long, they don't have to be spun very tightly and the yarn stays nice and soft. The long fibers also ensure that the quality of the yarn hardly decreases and remains beautiful for a particularly long time. I'm already looking for the right color, next week I'll show you matching projects!

In general: Click through our different yarn qualities in our navigation above. At the top, under "Wool & Co.", you can directly select the appropriate fiber material and thus receive, for example, all yarns with cotton or linen content. If you click on "To all kits with this yarn" in the yarn section, you will directly get the matching knitting pieces.

Seaside Dress and Lola Kjole from Tynn Line by Sandnes.
Photo: © Marisa Nöldeke / Maschenfein

I am, for example, just very keen on all yarns that have a linen content or consist entirely of the great flax. This is of course quite grippy when knitting and rather no hand flatterer, but you are rewarded with a light and above all perfectly suited to the summer knitted piece. Sparrow by Quince & Co., for example, is high on my list. But mixed qualities like Line and Tynn Line by Sandnes or Nepal by Pascuali are also great.

Maschenfein knitting round

So for acute attacks of castonsitis, we have everything you need. Fresh knitting ideas, classics, yarns from so many different materials. Oh - and last but not least, you! Because of course we are interested in what you knit! Because maybe there is also one or the other new project idea ...

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/_esdee_ / instagram.com/claudia_knits

You can cast on the acute desire to needle something, for example, the new design of Lotilda. Like Sibel. She has the Mika Summer Cardigan in Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive on her needles right now.

Or how about the Argil Top from Clare Lakewood? I saw it at Claudia 's. One more time, I'm telling you, and I have to have it too ... Knitting here is with Organic Cotton from Krea Deluxe.

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/it_is_a_knit_thing / instagram.com/knitting.jasmin93

The above presented Lined Loop Tee is of course also a (very good) idea. Katja has it on the needles and the color combination I like extremely well. So really really good.

Jasmin can already wear her Camisole No. 4 from My Favourite Things Knitwear made from Pure Silk by Knitting for Olive. I wish the same for myself. Which of course speaks for finishing one or the other piece as well. As so often in life, you have to find the right balance. So between starting and finishing. Maybe with a slight tendency to start. It's just so much fun to needle something new!

So ask your Maschenfein team the next time you have a bout of castonsitis. We're sure to know what to do! And now: Have a great weekend with lots of knitting time!

{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

Now in summer, where soon the first school holidays begin, where vacation preparations start, where the watering of flowers must be organized - inevitably comes the question: Which knitting project will go on vacation with you? Or will there be more than one? You might find the answer today in Saturday Coffee. A wonderful good morning to you! We are making summer plans today!

Super fresh from Maschenfein

I myself am already thinking very hard. So intensely, in fact, that the other day I said out loud to my husband, "I don't even know what my vacation knitting project is going to be this year." And he said (I'm not lying): "How about taking a vacation from knitting?" You can imagine my response.

After we discarded the visit of a couples therapy, because he immediately realized his mistake, I thought about it further and I think a favorite is slowly crystallizing ...

By Ito, Sandnes, pascuali or BC yarn

Brand new this week is the Küselshirt by Marisa published! It takes its name from the horse farm of the same name on Fehmarn, where Ms. Maschenfein has knitted the summer part. Thanks to different yarns you can knit it fluffy, silky, airy-light or a bit grippier. So there is something for everyone!

Knit top down, collar, cuffs and hem are worked in doubleface. The body is formed with the help of raglan increases. The shirt can be worked with or without ribbon. I tend to the variant with ribbon, because I find such a knot on the shirt to the summer really chic!

What would you like?

As always, you can also buy the pattern individually. Either here in the store or on Ravelry. In the kits you will find the combos Kinu and Washi by Ito, Saffira and Manada by Pascuali, Bio Balance by BC Yarn and Silky Kid by Kremke or - knitted solo - Duo by Sandnes.

All the yarns have something going for them. The most summery is the Ito version, Sandnes is something for fresher summer days and when you prefer a little more stand in your clothes. With the fluffy versions, all those who like to have it cozy, but still not too heavy, will be happy. The beautiful lilac shade at Silky Kid is unfortunately sold out, but with Manada and Saffira by Pascuali we have a nice alternative (please select crocus here). Plus: Saffira has a silk content of 25%, which gives the yarn a cooling effect and nice sheen. In the end, only one question remains: Who "küsels" with us through summer?

The maschenfein Küselshirt. With ribbon or without - both are possible!

Also new: Mika Summer Cardigan

MIka summer cardigan

Photo: © Lotilda

It's getting fluffy again (and a few needle sizes bigger) with the new design from Lotilda: You can now find the kit and pattern for the Mika Summer Cardigan in our store. We have created this summery cardigan with Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive. The yarn is available in many different colors, so you can adapt the model perfectly to your closet.

Knit seamlessly top down, this cardigan has integrated sleeves so that the shoulder and sleeve form one piece. First you work the back neck panel and then the back piece. Then knit the right front piece to the back piece, then the left front piece, and work the increases for the V-neck. Under the arms, all knitted pieces are joined. The finish is an Icord.

Prefer stripes?

For those who prefer a variety of colors on the needles: No problem! We have several new striped designs in the store, including the Stripe Hype Sweater by Veronika Lindberg. You'll be knitting with Double Sunday by Sandnes - and you'll have a wide range of colors to choose from. The sweater is knitted top down. The pattern is in English. And yes, the sleeves are long. But - and I don't want to think about it yet - such a summer will pass, right?

Perfect for warm temperatures and also quickly knitted is the Seaside Tee from Coco Amour Knitwear. Here you work with Line from Sandnes. The yarn I had presented to you last week in more detail. It is and remains a summer favorite!

Work the shirt top down in the round. Especially beautiful is the saddle shoulder, which then overflows into raglan increases. Thanks to the beautiful color palette, there are almost no limits to the possible combos.

Romantically playful

Is your vacation knitting list already full? Or are you rather knitters who like it playful and a little romantic? Then I have found something for you: the Summer Blossom Tee by Irene Lin. The designer lives in Taiwan and has many designs on Ravelry - be sure to check it out.

Jule has put up the knitting kit with Organic Cotton from Krea Deluxe. Start at the back. Then pick up stitches at the shoulders for the front pieces. Close under the armholes to form a round. If the upper part is rather simple, the torso and sleeves become very playful thanks to cable stitch and ruffles. Of course, you have to like that - at least I do!

Summer Blossom Tee
For romantics: Summer Blossom Tee.

Marilyn Tee
Who else likes all cherries? Marilyn Tee.
Photo: © Miriam Walchshäusl

The Marilyn Tee from Miriam Walchshäusl is even more striking. Cherry lovers watch out, that's all I'm saying! The sweet little fruits are knitted directly thanks to stranded colorwork. And since you're working with the pure cotton yarn Alba from BC Yarn, it's really a great summer piece that just makes you want to spend extended hours in the sun in the garden. The top-down model is inspired by Marilyn Monroe and I can really picture her in it.

Something for men?

Who likes it now neither frilly-playful, nor fruity, but instead something for men: Here you goooo! We have just put up the Introvert Sweater "Inside out" by Andreas Ruthemann. The comfortable men's sweater is knitted top down from Høst by CaMaRose and Bergamo by Lamana. You will need the latter for the rolled edges. Please note that Høst can shrink up to 10% in the washing machine. So knit a little bigger if necessary or - this is what I would do - wash by hand. This is also good for Bergamo as a merino alpaca yarn.

I've been a fan of this yarn for a long time, even though it "only" plays a minor role in this design, of course. But that's not a bad thing. Høst is a great main yarn. Take a look at the different shades of mottling. How beautiful are they?

Webtalk

Before it goes for you now hopefully soon to the knitting needles, I want to quickly chat a bit of this and that from the knitting world. At the end of the month, we'll be having another round of sales with our Franziska Klee knitting accessories. So mark your calendars for June 29. Also, something has happened in the area of embossing. You can already look forward to that!

Emmanuel tee
Available for free for a short time: Pattern for Emmanuel tee.
Photo: © Johanna Böhme

Who also always wanted to knit something from kolibri - by Johanna: Now is your chance! The designer celebrates her birthday and on the occasion of her special day all of her own patterns on her website and on Ravelry are available with a 25% discount until June 25 (no code needed here). Until today at noon (so you have to hurry up a bit) the pattern for the Emmanuel Tee is also free. You can find all information about the code in this post. The matching kit is already created for you with the pure linen yarn Løvetand by CaMaRose.

And then I have something for all those who feel like swinging the crochet hook. Sandra Gutierrez, a knitting and crochet designer from Mexico, has created a Crochet Along to go with her design Vesuvius . Instead of knitting, crocheting will be done together. It starts on July 1.

You have to register on this website for the CAL, there you will also get the pattern. Attention: Everything is in English, but maybe one or the other dares. I myself have made the experience that it is with English crochet pattern as with English knitting pattern: google the appropriate abbreviations and then just dare. You never stop learning!

Crochet with Suave from Pascuali, we have created the matching wool package for you here. The Vesuvius Shirt is worked top down and has a great construction. The textured knit is light and airy and perfect for summer. It has two slits on the sides that are neatly finished with a pretty edge.

Maschenfein knitting round

But finally we go back to working with two needles ;-). Slowly the feed of our knitting round is filling up with summer impressions. I can not get enough of nature at the moment and therefore prefer to stay outside. Gladly knitting, of course.

You can see a striped Küsel shirt from the ITO yarn combination at Cor. As you can see, the design can also be modified for striped lovers.

Jule was able to use the Worldwide Knit in Public Day last weekend for knitting. On a train ride, the Sophie Scarf was cast on from Kaos Yarn 's pop colors. And probably also bound off ...

Stefanie knits her Marea Camisole by Gudrun Fesl from Sole by Pascuali. I really like these textured patterns. So be sure to check out our now numerous knitting kits for summer tops - there's bound to be something for you!

And because I had raved to you last week again about the Tiril shorts (do you all have a pair now?!), here comes a jumpsuit for variety. Ruth is showing off her Heikeding by knit.ding from Duo by Sandnes. Our kit is designed for the shirt version (because you get two pattern in one). If you want to knit the jumpsuit, just increase the number of skeins in your shopping cart.

So. How's that vacation knitting list coming along? Tell us in the comments, which project may accompany you on vacation. Because vacation from knitting - that just doesn't happen. Have a great weekend!

{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

Take: A (new) knitting project, the appropriate accessories, the not-so-necessary accessories, you own anyway because it's so nice, a (of course nice) project bag, snacks, drinks - ready is the equipment for Worldwide Knit in Public Day!

What's that, you ask? It's the holiday for all knitters, so to speak. Today we go outside with our knitting and show everyone how beautiful the most beautiful hobby in the world is. Super beautiful, it is. And diverse. But before you go outside, we'll have the obligatory cuppa to fortify you. A wonderful good morning to you!

Bags, give me bags!

Earlier in my life as a non-knitter, I had quite a problem with buying bags. I was constantly lugging them around. Fortunately, I've gotten over that phase. I'm still a big fan, but now I prefer to knit (and crochet) them myself. This is much more fun, is much more individual and totally decelerates the process.

But since I still have a trained eye for bag designs of all kinds, Longboard by Emilie Luis of course immediately caught my eye. The design is conceived in two sizes, one with handles and as a clutch. For the smaller version, we've given you the matching snap closure right away. You can put it in the shopping cart directly in the kit.

Super summer yarns: cotton & linen!

As yarn you will find in the Kit Line from Sandnes. The quality is rightly very popular, especially when it comes to summer designs. It knits great, has many great colors and a pleasant material composition (53% cotton, 33% viscose, 14% linen). The price is of course also a reason.

Super piece for the summer: Clover Tee.
Photo: © Lene Holme Samsøe

The fact that you are now discovering more and more knitting kits with it has a lot of good reasons. That's why the Clover Tee by Lene Holme Samsøe has just arrived in the Maschenfein store. It's just such a beautifully simple shirt - made for summer and for knitting beginners!

customize length

The shirt is knitted top down. The yoke is decorated with a fine lace pattern, but - as I have perceived Lene's designs so far - it is certainly very catchy. The rest is then knitted in stockinette stitch. This needs some patience, of course, but always goes well along the way. And: You can adjust the length of torso and sleeves according to your ideas.

More than popular: Tiril's summer set

At the risk that you already know the designs: I think Tiril's summer set from last year can not be emphasized enough. With shorts, shirt and sweater from Line you are simply well equipped for everything that comes in the summer. And finally, finally, finally a large enough stock of the magazine has arrived in the warehouse. At Sandnes, they obviously didn't expect how popular the designs would be. But the presses were running hot and magazine and yarn are ready to go!

From light to heavy

If you're already browsing, be sure to check out the other cotton-linen yarns from Sandnes. There is also Tynn Line and Tykk Line. So you can choose from a needle size of 3 to 5 mm. With a click on "To all kits with this yarn" you can see which designs we have created with the respective qualities. But be careful! There is a danger of buying! I don't want anyone to write afterwards that they didn't know that.

Knitted ready in no time

Very new to all three yarns is, for example, the Alice Top from PetiteKnit. That doesn't smile at me at all. No, no ... The fact that it is knitted quickly with a needle size of 5 mm is of course also not an argument. Or that you can knit from the center to check the length in between, thanks to the pattern modification. Pfff! For all of you who are as unaffected by this as I am: You can either knit single-stranded with Tykk Line or double-stranded with Line and Tynn Line (in this case, the color Kitt would also be available. No argument here either, of course. Of course not!). If I weren't totally unemotional, I'd choose Ferskenblomst with Tykk Line. But luckily, pink is so not my prey scheme. So.not.at.all. A little tip from the Maschenfein team: If you're as addicted to the melange trend as some of us are, you should choose the Line-Tynn Line combo and combine two different colors.

After all, the great thing about DIY is that you decide what color it should be. Løvetand, the pure linen yarn from CaMaRose, for example, has a fine, small color palette in muted tones. Again, so not mine. No, no.

The yarn fits perfectly with the Peacock Tee, another great design by Lene Holme Samsøe. Half of the Maschenfein team knitted this last year. I was not there because of baby break, but this year ... Oh, I say it like it is: It is already in the shopping cart!

New: Patterns from Miriam Walchshäusl

Wilma shirt

This week there was a new addition to the patterns that you can buy directly in the Maschenfein store: From now on you can get the first patterns by Miriam Walchshäusl aka Mrs. Funnyvalentine in addition to Ravelry. The lady from Freising has some great summer designs up her sleeve: Have a look at the Isadora Top made of Pure Silk by Knitting for Olive, the Virginia Top made of Willet by Quince & Co. or the Wilma Shirt made of Sparrow, also by Quince & Co. By the way, pure linen yarns like Sparrow or the aforementioned Løvetand tend to be rather firm at first, both when knitting and in the finished knit. So feel free to knead your knit a bit in the beginning - you'll see: Every time you wear it, it becomes more supple and is a real blessing in hot temperatures.

Knitting for babies?

How about the Yndig set consisting of jacket, pants and little hat?

Also super fresh in the Maschenfein store are the cute knitting kits including pattern for the baby designs by Yndestrikk. Behind this are two Norwegian friends who have been designing knitwear for young and old since 2018. So be sure to take a look at the matching kits. Who wants to knit for babies, is guaranteed to find something here!

No (small) children to knit for right now, but still feel like a little project? How about the Sola Scarf from Anne Ventzel? The scarf is knitted from one tip to the other and enhances any outfit. It is about 90 cm long and thanks to the wonderfully light cashmere 6/28 from Pascuali also not too warm.

Maschenfein knitting round

The fact that we now have summer and the first vacations are just around the corner or some are already on vacation, you can also see our knitting group. Both here and in the team directly the summer knit has prevailed (what we have on the needles at Maschenfein, you can read here).

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/allesnurmeins / instagram.com/fraug.strickt

At allesnurmeins you see for example the shirt Notice (spring) from Ankestrick from Cumbria by Pascuali. Also such a design yarn combo that has been on my list for a long, long time.

Katrin is already on vacation - and on the way there she had the Watten Sweater by ChrisBerlin from Alpakka Silke by Sandnes on the needles. Color match with the calico project bag - very nice! 😉

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/sandragroll / instagram.com/juni.maren

Sandra, who had the great luck of Pentecost holidays, was on vacation with her Top Brit from Lamana. And her family, we do not want to forget. And Brit was actually still on the needles - but in the process! Anyway, now the little dream from Cosma is finished and just beautiful!

Maren has knitted the Küsel Shirt in our test. Here was a combo of BC yarn and Kremke Soul Wool on the needles - but we have more ready! Look forward to next week, there will be pattern and the matching kits!

But now it's time to go outside. With knitting, of course. So that everyone sees: Knitting is simply the most beautiful thing! Have a great weekend!

{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

Sometimes my mom asks me on Fridays if she has to be "afraid" of the next Saturday coffee. Whether she would again have to knit something when she reads it then. Well: That may be! That's the general risk when you hang around Maschenfein. It can always happen that you discover something nice here. New designs, for example. Or new yarns. Or small offers. Yikes!

A wonderful good morning to the Saturday coffee! It is again packed full. With knitting ideas. With store news. With reading fodder. With an offer. With a knit-along. So I'd say it's the perfect start to the weekend! Happy reading!

Summer on the needles

There are yarn combinations that make me all fuzzy. In the best sense. They are just SO great, I have to knit something out of them. Kinu and Sensai from Ito are such a candidate. Both yarns are a dream on their own, but when they form a team - holy moly!

Sandra for example has designed two years ago our Mother's Day shawl Carla with this combo. And two weeks ago I had already shown you very briefly the SEON Kimono from aegyoknit. But it deserves to be presented again in more detail.

I see myself on the beach

Knit this summer light dream is crosswise from one side to the other. I find that extremely charming. It's just something different! Through different knitting patterns such as half brioche or patterns of knit and purl stitches, the kimono gets a great structure. You can style it casually and wear it for example on the beach or combine it chic and enjoy your Aperol at the hotel bar. I myself see myself walking around on the beach with it, barefoot, hair (skillfully!) disheveled by the wind ... yes, yes, is such a case of "I probably have to knit"!

Dressed in clouds thanks to Wolken sweater.
Photo: © Marisa Nöldeke

À propos feather-light dream: We have a dream there too. Light as a cloud. Fluffy. Original Maschenfein: the Wolken sweater (Wolke - german for cloud). Marisa had to knit it down "just like that". From Cashmere Dreams by Lang Yarns. The balls were in the office and just looked at them with big eyes.

Luckily for you, Marisa couldn't resist the looks and created a simple, loose raglan sweater that's off the needles as fast as it's on. That's because you're knitting five stranded with size 10 needles.

Knitted clouds

The sweater is designed in sizes XS, M and XL - each with a positive ease of 20 to 30 cm. Depending on the size you need 10 to 13 balls. This is of course expensive. As an at least somewhat cheaper alternative, we recommend Sensai from Ito (thus closing the above circle). It is difficult to find a completely suitable replacement for Cashmere Dreams, because the structure of the yarn is quite unique and the feel is simply the character of the cloud sweater. But with Sensai , you can get very close to the original!

See me on vacation

... or Cheeky Merino Joy.

Quite apart from the fact that I hang out on my phone too much, these days I find myself opening an app more and more often that counts down the days until summer vacation. I just feel so much like having sand under my feet, the sound of the sea in my ear and "just looking at the water". Denmark, see you soon!

Perfect for the pre-holiday head cinema fits there with me the FREESTYLE sweater from Paula_m. Whether I already roll the color cards? Oh yes! The problem? There are three different yarn options. So the decision is difficult, although I feel a slight tendency ...

What would be your favorite?

Susanne tested the design on the following three yarns and found them to be good: Como by Lamana (dark blue version), Cheeky Merino Joy by Rosy Green Wool (brown version) or Softyak DK (seen here in light brown) by Rowan. All three have special characteristics. With Como , your sweater will be light as a feather and fluffy, with Cheeky Merino Joy, the garnment will be flowing and a bit thinner, and with Softyak DK, due to the cotton content, it will be a bit heavier and a bit stiffer.

Well? What would be your favorite? I'm leaning towards Cheeky Merino Joy, though I have some appreciation for the other two choices as well. Also, Como is one of my favorite yarns. Difficult! While we're all still pondering, a quick word about the knitting: The sweater is knit seamlessly top down. First, shape the neckline using short rows, then knit in rounds and work raglan increases for the body and sleeves. Then you finish knitting body and sleeves separately in the round.

Such a bag always goes

If you still need time to think about it, you could stitch the LANTA Bag from Susanne in the meantime. This is very fresh on the market and in any case ideal as a small in-between project.

The design was created on the Thai island of the same name and has the vacation feelings kind of directly knitted in. Matching the summer you will find in the kit the pure linen yarn Lino from BC Yarn, which is processed here twice. We are waiting for supplies for a few colors, but there are a lot of beautiful summer colors! The knitting is done in a lace pattern from the bottom to the top.

Shirts, shirts, shirts

Suri Shirt V Neck
Timelessly chic: Suri Shirt V-Neck.
Photo: © Caidree

Already a few weeks ago the Suri Shirt from Caidree went online. We have put it up for you with Tussah Tweed from BC Yarn. Alternatively, you can knit it now with a V-neck. This version was made by Sabina, who is behind Caidree, from Puno Winikunka by Pascuali.

Knit in rows and in the round top down. So you can flexibly adjust the length of the shirt. On the picture you see the shortened version, but the pattern also contains a longer version. The positive ease is 10 cm. So measure in any case before you decide on a size.

Sweet little things from Kleinigkeitenliebe

Already a few weeks ago I wanted to show you the dress Wiesenblume of Sharon Maninger. I find that just so over cute! Fortunately, the little daughter here is already big enough and the first size should fit her.

You knit the dress from the bottom up, so first the skirt with floral pattern and then the top. Here you work in rows in contrast to the bottom part. In the kit you will find Sole from Pascuali. I've taken this yarn to my heart not only because it was used to make the baby blanket for my daughter, but also because it's a great summer yarn: 90 percent cotton and 10 percent cashmere are not too warm, but so beautifully soft - just great! And by the way: Sharon has released an add-on for the dress with a different pattern for the top and an alternative crochet edge. Also very pretty and you can find it here.

After the KAL is before the KAL

ellie summer top
Perfect for summer: Ellie summer top.
Photo: © Rust Knitwear

Also a few weeks ago I had announced the Knit Along to the Ellie Summer Top from Rust Knitwear. Feel free to still join in the fun! You can join for example on Instagram (all info can be found in this highlight) or you join the German WhatsApp group (then please once here). You can get the knitting kit with Pure Silk from Knitting for Olive from us - as well as the single pattern from Simone.

You have never participated in a KAL? Then here are the most important things in a nutshell: In a Knit Along, you knit (virtually) together on a specific project or with a specific yarn. Thanks to the internet, you can exchange ideas at any time. Often, KALs have a time limit, but you're done when you're done. And they're the perfect excuse when you need to squeeze in a project ("I'm sorry, honey. I had to buy this wool. I have a KAL waiting for me.") The important thing is that you're confident and have the necessary authority.

New and old from Laine

As promised above, there are other novelties in the Maschenfeinshop besides the knitting kits. Among them is the book Textured Knits from the Laine publishing house.

In the book you'll find 20 timeless designs with interesting textures, including cardigans, sweaters and socks. The designs combine different ways of knitting textures. These can be cables, multiple colors, embroidery work or lace patterns. Sometimes they are worked as a detail, sometimes they decorate the entire design. Variety is guaranteed!

I also recommend you to take a look at our sale corner. In addition to the 15th Laine issue, we also have Crochet Crush and Stripes (all by Laine) on sale. I've been eyeing Crochet Crush for so long - I think this is it!

Feel like crocheting?

You are skeptical about crochet? Then I recommend our new inspiration crochet happiness, which Saskia has written for us last week. I'll tell you this much: It's worth it to work with only one needle!

I also want to recommend the latest edition of our blog series "Designer of the Month". For this I had an online appointment with Melanie Berg aka mairlynd. Our conversation just flew by. Melanie had so much to tell, it was so nice and never trivial. Click here for the article Melanie Berg: uncompromisingly cool.

Maschenfein knitting round

As you can see, there's a lot to read today. And to watch. But there's something to be said for a slow start to the weekend, isn't there? So let's quickly take a look at our knitting round.

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/strickliesbeth / instagram.com/die.geli

Andrea is done with her stole Zoe, our Mother's Day design this year. Here Merino Baby was on the needles, together with Cashmere Dreams from Lang Yarns.

At Angelika 's you can see the Küsel shirt from our current test knit. She worked with Bio Balance from BC Yarn and Silky Kid from Kremke Soul Wool. The pattern will be published next week!

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/fabulouisaslife / instagram.com/woolnatic

Louisa is knitting two tops right now, including the Brit top from the latest Lamana magazine. This is where Cosma comes in handy. The blue, darlings, the blue!!!

At Judith 's you can see the finished June Top by PetiteKnit, knitted in two strands of Pure Silk by Knitting for Olive. Louisa and I also have this on our needles. For our Knit Along on the topic "Melange Effect". You can already tell: KALs are a great excuse!

So I have a mission for the weekend: to continue knitting the June Top. And dream about new projects. And stitch something. Sometimes it's really good to be unreasonable.

Have a great weekend!

{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

I'm going crazy. I'm working disciplined (Well more or less. Maybe rather less) on my knitting project and then they appear. The little knitting devils on my shoulder. Left and right they sit. New and old designs that also want very necessarily very quickly on the needles.

Do you know them too? Those cute little knitted temptations? You'd think they wouldn't be so bad in the summer. Because, "Knitting is for winter only." Fiddlesticks. We knit our way through the whole year and ideas lurk around every corner. For example, at Saturday coffee. So have a wonderful good morning! Let the knitting temptations begin!

Yes, ok, I want to have it too!

I already announced it in the last issue and it promptly arrived the next day. A visionary coffee, so to speak. Perhaps I also have seer qualities in me - who knows?

Anyway: The Robinia Tee by Anne Ventzel is here! A beautiful shirt with the distictive Robinia pattern, which is guaranteed to be a perfect companion for you. For now, the pattern are only available in English, but the German version will surely follow soon.

Stranded knitting for beginners

The beauty of this top-down design: It is suitable for beginners. Sure, you should know knit and purl stitches and maybe have knitted a sweater before, but if you're knitting stranded for the first time, you can safely try this pattern. I, for example, have not knitted stranded for a long time (actually, not for more than two years - yikes!) and it's about time again ...

Robinia tee
Robinia Tee. I wonder if I can make it if it has short sleeves?
Photo: © Anne Ventzel
Robinia tee
I mean: Short sleeves are realistic, right? Right???
Photo: © Anne Ventzel

You - and when I say you, I mean me - knit from the top down. Front and back are knitted separately in rows, then under the arms you can join the shirt to the round. Stitches are picked up and knitted along the armholes and the sleeves are worked top down. In the kit you will find Mandarin Petit from Sandnes. Please pay attention to your knitting when using strong contrasts in the wash and don't leave it unattended. Strong colors tend to bleed. So change the water if necessary.

Even more cotton

Also made of Mandarin Petit is this sweet striped top from Veronika Lindberg. The Lola Top is also knitted with two colors, but the color does not change within the round or row. So you don't have to hold two colors in your hand at the same time. However, two threads of the same color, because it is worked double stranded.

You knit from the top down in a broken rib pattern. This gives the knit a great texture. The straps are worked together with the armhole cuffs. I especially like the square neckline. I think the design directly spreads vacation feelings!

Salty Days Sweater
Made of Double Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair: Salty Days Sweater.
Photo: © Veronika Lindberg

Also from the pen of the Finn, whom you may already know from the great book "Knit this! 21 Gorgeous Everyday Patterns" (It's in stock right now!), is the Salty Days Sweater. I'm loving this one! I really like these somewhat folkloric patterns at the moment and think it fits well into summer, despite the long sleeves. Of course you can wear it all year round: You knit with Double Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair from Sandnes.

The pattern starts with the back, which is formed by increases. From the slants are picked up stitches for the shoulders. From this, the front part is formed. Under the arms, the sweater is finished in the round. For the sleeves, pick up stitches from the armholes. Finally, cast on the double collar. The positive ease is 15 to 20 cm. So strawberry cake fits in easily - I like that!

Positive and negative ease

At this point, a small digression: Especially for beginners on the needles, terms such as "positive ease" or "negative ease" are sometimes somewhat confusing or daunting. But don't worry! It's just a matter of how fitted or loose the corresponding garment is designed to be. So first measure your actual measurements (usually the chest circumference) and then add the indicated extra width. If the pattern says "negative ease", this does not mean that the knitted piece will be too tight in the end. Instead, it is designed to be form-fitting or, for example, a yarn is used that is stretchy. As you can see, it's not all witchcraft. You can get even more compact knitting knowledge in our small knitting encyclopedia "Strickwissen to go" (German).

Projects to go are of course always recommended. Smaller designs that you can pack up in no time and take with you. While I take pretty much any knitting project with me that I think makes sense, I have to admit that I've had a relationship crisis or two because of it ("Do those eight big balls really need to come???" -"Yes! I want to be prepared for anything!"). But as I always say to my husband, "Every (knitting) crisis only binds us together even more." So far, I'm doing pretty well with it 😉 .

But you should be guaranteed crisis-free with the following projects. Because they are so small, your passengers won't even notice that you have them with you.

For example, there is the ample tee from wieseknit. A super simple, wide summer shirt that is knitted top down. With Jaipur Peace Silk from BC Yarn you'll also find fine silk in the kit, which is pleasantly cooling on the skin in summer.

Also a pleasant and, above all, robust yarn is Merino 120 from Lang Yarns. This yarn is for you, moms and dads, who free children from sand, knock off soil, plop sticks out of pants pockets, or admire ten different sized stains on a piece of clothing. All of different origins, of course.

I won't guarantee that Merino 120 can take all of the above punishments, but for a knitting yarn, it can do a lot. It's sturdy and can go - hallelujah! - in the washing machine. That's why you'll find it at Peacock Baby Top. by Lene Holme Samsøe. I have zero capacity for more knitting projects, of course, but luckily I'm flexible to the max when it comes to new projects on full needles. I may need the baby top. Maybe very definitely. The last size would fit in our house for a while.

Shell pattern for beach feeling

Hopefully very, very long would fit the Musling tee. So with me. Although, of course, I would bequeath it in due course ("There is no money in your mother's estate. But knitting pieces. Would you like to have them?"). But isn't the pattern great? It's also by Lene Holme Samsøe and covers sizes from XS to 3XL.

The shell pattern decorates the entire shirt. Knit top down in the round, increase the neck by shortening the rows. In the kit you'll find Line from Sandnes - a classic summer yarn that wears beautifully.

The tutorial for the Hortensie Cardigan is here!

This week was very busy for us. Not only because it was short, but also because we have again given everything for our knitted Hortensie Cardigan. Since last week you could already browse the matching knitting kits. Since Wednesday, the corresponding pattern is now online and you can finally get started!

So beautiful: our Hydrangea Cardigan

Thanks go to Marisa, of course, who came up with the design, but also to Lisa and our test team, who put everything through its paces and put it on paper. Now you have a round tutorial in your hands that guides you step by step through the design. We recommend it for experienced knitters, as there are some special techniques involved, but of course it shouldn't be anything that scares you off (there are videos for all the tricky bits!). If you have already knitted top down, maybe even in a half brioche, feel free to try. As usual, the pattern is also available for purchase separately. For the matching knitting kits, please click here. More information about the design and the knitting can be found at on our YouTube channel.

Psst ... there is a give-away!

Before we dive right into our Maschenfein knitting round, here's a very, very important tip: We're hosting a little give-away on Instagram! You can win one of three knitting kits for the SEON Kimono by aegyoknit. In addition to the matching amount of yarn from Kinu and Sensai by Ito, you'll also get the English pattern (the German translation is in the works). You can participate until tomorrow evening. All info can be found in this post.

Maschenfein knitting round

Browsing knitting kits - it can not be more beautiful. Unless you buy them. That's always such a happy-making moment. And when the things are finished knitting ... So let yourself be inspired again by our knitting round:

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/it_is_a_knit_thing / instagram.com/woman.june.knits

The Hortensie Cardigan, for example, cannot be emphasized enough. Katja has test-knitted it with Merino Baby and Manada from Pascuali. Didn't it turn out great?

Another fine design was on Andrea 's needles - the stole Zoe, our Mother's Day design this year. Merino Baby was also on the needles here, together with Cashmere Dreams from Lang Yarns.

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/lillepige14 / instagram.com/felifloh

Mareike is also test knitting. She is working on the Freestyle Sweater from Paula_m. Merino Baby is used here as well. That was not intentional, really not! The yarn is just great.

And at Feli you can discover the bunny baby blanket by Sandra from Saffira by Pascuali. The blanket is for the grandchild and I'm sure parents and child will be insanely happy.

I say goodbye for today and hope that I come on the weekend also a few to knitting. Otherwise, I keep it like Jules cat Leo and just lie down to relax on my knitting. Looks cozy in any case.

Have a great weekend!

{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

Are you enjoying the view of nature right now as much as I am? Everything is so beautifully green, the lilacs are in full bloom, the vegetables are sprouting - it's wonderful! And because it's so beautiful, we get the spring directly on the needles. So that the suitable feelings do not decrease! So a wonderful good morning to the Saturday coffee with Knit-Along-Net-Talk. Yeah - because there's several news at once. Have fun reading!

Hydrangea love

If there is one plant that I could always admire at any time, it is the hydrangea. Preferably the pink or blue-purple flowering varieties. Apparently, I'm not alone in this passion - because several yarn manufacturers have a hydrangea shade in their portfolio - or Hortensie in german.

For the cardigan version of the Snanoe sweater, Marisa chose the same blue hydrangea (german: blaue Hortensie) from Pascuali (in the yarn combination Merino Baby and Manada). But because the pattern developed differently and the color is just so, so impressive, the name Hortensie Cardigan came up - and that's how it stayed.

Multiple yarns are possible

Because your response is so great, we have already put the kit online. You can choose from three different yarn combos: Merino Baby and Manada from Pascuali, Organic Brushed Alpaca and Organic Soft Merino from KAOS Yarn, and Tweed Recycled from Sandnes. The test for the pattern is almost finished. You will receive the complete version on Ascension Day, May 18. So feel free to browse your favorite yarn for the perfect color. Knitting will start next weekend!

You can be happy in any case! The Hortensie Cardigan, which is knitted top down, is very varied and combines different techniques. Everything has been super well thought out and tested several times. We recommend the knitting for advanced knitters.

The kit for the Hortensie Cardigan is online - pattern to follow!

Once all the firecracker colors, please. Here with the Great V scarf by ChrisBerlin.
Photo: © Marisa Nöldeke

Marisa owns the cardigan in two colors. Once in said hydrangea and once in a soft lilac tone. Marta knitted her this version from KAOS yarns; unfortunately, exactly this shade of lilac is sold out right now. We really, really hope that it can be ordered again soon!

Please with shawl!

Fortunately, there are many other great colors at KAOS. All qualities are coordinated and therefore you should definitely look at Organic Brushed Alpaca. This is the scarf Great V by ChrisBerlin, which Marisa has combined with her cardigan. It soon blew me away. How cool does this look? So colorful! We added new photos to the kit right away. All I can say is happy browsing! The missing colors that are available, are already reordered.

Shawls always go

Let's stay briefly on the subject of shawls. Because they go with us at any time of the year. You can also get great designs from Joji Locatelli, for example. I find the Argentine just so incredibly likeable. Her Instagram stories are always worth seeing, especially when she's traveling.

Her latest work is A Place of Peace, a shawl with graphic patterns and playful tassels as eye-catchers. The triangles are created by short rows. As you knit, you alternate between stripes and pure mohair knitting. The tassels follow at the end. This shawl is guaranteed not to get boring while knitting! In the kit you will find Alpakka Silke from Sandnes and Deluxe Silk Mohair from Krea Deluxe.

Photo: © Joji Locatelli

We have had the Cardigan Like a Cloud by Joji Locatelli in our store for a while now. But since we no longer carry the original yarn, Jule has revised the kit. From now on you will find the dream combination of Modena and Premia by Lamana.

The cardigan, which can accompany you throughout the year, is knitted top down. The pattern is simple and comes despite mohair well to advantage. The design really wears like a cloud!

It will also get fresh sometimes, for sure

The last few weeks I have already shown you some summer tops. Rightly so, I think. After all, we want to be prepared! And yet we also need something to pull over. Sure, the heat days will come. But there will also be walks on the beach or evening nightcaps on the terrace. I have recently already tested and found very recommendable. Well the nightcap. But I can also recommend beach walks without reservation.

Perfect for all walks/nightcaps/fresh-breezes-of-any-kind is in any case the Peacock Cardigan from Lene Holme Samsøe. The yoke is adorned with the distinctive Peacock pattern, named after the plumage of the peacock. I think it's so, so beautiful!

The design is knitted with a round yoke from the top down. Work the neck with short rows that integrate the pattern. The body and sleeves are worked in stockinette stitch. Finally, you cast on the buttonhole facing. In the kit you will find Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair from Sandnes. The color palettes have been expanded so that you can choose between muted and bright colors. Does that make it easier? Not necessarily ... 😉

There was something ...

If the name "Peacock" has made you prick up your ears: Rightly so! Because the pattern can also be found on the Peacock Tee, which we have included in the store for you last year. I also recommend it to you in 2023!

In the kit you will find the pure linen yarn Løvetand from CaMaRose. Here the color palette is kept rather small. The choice should therefore be easier (I tend to green, uh, pink of course!). Knitting is done top down. The pattern you have quickly in mind (it makes virtually addicted) and under the arms it goes stockinette stitch in rounds down. I could easily add it to my overloaded knitting list. Makes no difference for now. But the wool basket even fuller ;-)

Cumulus Blouse O-Neck

A fresh coat of paint has also received the Cumulus Blouse from PetiteKnit. Of course, it is still available with V-neck, but now also brand new with O-neck. This has definitely something for itself and I can tell you: Such a delicate sweater made of mohair (alternative I'll show you in a moment!) really needs everyone in the closet.

Knitting is done in both cases from the top down in the round. The yarn is held double throughout and all ends are icorded. This piece is so simple and just because of that so great.

We have created two kits for you: Once with Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive (silk-mohair variant) and once with the already above mentioned Organic Brushed Alpaca from KAOS Yarn (pure alpaca). So all fluff lovers will be happy!

Fancy a new knit-along?

Of course, I can understand everyone who does not want to be quite so fluffy now in the summer. As far as knitting is concerned, "fluff all year long" applies to me, but of course I also do like to wear clothes made of cotton or linen.

So it is very fitting that in June there will be a Knit Along to the Ellie Summertop by Rust Knitwear. You can find the kit with us with the Pure Silk from Knitting for Olive. I have it on my needles right now for another project and I'm really excited about it! Please have a look for matching colors, as soon as there is more info about the KAL, you'll get it here! By the way: From now on you will also get the pattern from Simone, who is behind Rust Knitwear, here in our store. So buying the matching knitting kits will be even more comfortable.

If you're in the mood for a mystery knit-along (so you don't know what the project will look like in the end), you should definitely check out Susanne Sommer's site. For me she is simply the queen of brioche scarves. So many beautiful designs!

May 26 is the start of the Brioche Fashion Knit-Along and all you know is that it will end up being a shawl. What it looks like? Secret! I'm really excited about it right now ... You can also find color ideas on the corresponding Ravelry page. We suggest the following options for the fingering weight yarn: Sunday by Sandnes for a variegated result, Tynn Line by Sandnes for something summery, Milano by Lamana for cashmere fans, or Babyalpaca 10/2 by BC Yarn for alpaca lovers. I quickly close the page again before I become weak ...

I wonder what it will be? Brioche fashion KAL.

Making Memories
Making Memories

À propos become weak: We still have two new books from Laine in the store and all who like to knit for children, must now either read carefully or look away. Depending on whether you want to knit something or the needles are already running hot ...

Fresh from the Finnish publishing house is the book Making Memories by Claudia Quintanilla. It contains 25 timeless children's designs for newborns to children aged 10. From cardigans to sweaters, blankets, socks or mittens, there is something for everyone. From what I can see, this book breathes the typical Laine atmosphere again and I really like that!

The book Mouche & Friends by Cinthia Vallet is also just sugar. It contains lots of pattern for cozy animals. The little friends are all knitted seamlessly from the nose up. Each animal has its own clothing and accessories. There is also a lovely story for each knitted companion. So Mouche & Friends is a great basic work to knit gifts for children.

Service note: Tomorrow is Mother's Day

Mother's Day Stole Zoe. How far are you?

And still on the subject of gifts: Tomorrow is Mother's Day! You can keep it with this day of course as you want. But this officially ends this year's Mother's Day Knit-Along to shawl and stole Zoe. Have you finished or are you still knitting? If so, that's fine too, and maschenfein coupons will delight any knitter. Promise!

Maschenfein knitting round

In our maschenfein knitting round there is once again the notorious colorful mixture of test knitting, summer knitting, Mother's Day knitting and winter knitting. It doesn't get any better than this!

Birgit is on our test team for Marisa's Küsel Shirt. A great piece, I tell you! Highlight is a ribbon to knot at the hem. Be curious!

Kristin has finished the Camisole No. 7 from My Favourite Things Knitwear. Cotton Merino from Knitting for Olive was knitted (in our kit you'll find Saffira from Pascuali). The summer can come!

Knitmalnett has finished the Christmas shawl 2022 from Milano - and gives it to herself for Mother's Day. I have Frieda still on the needles. Maybe I'll finish it this year for Christmas, we'll see! 😉

And Eva still has the Robinia Sweater by Anne Ventzel in the works. One more sleeve to go, Eva, one more sleeve! You can do it!!! After that there will be the Robinia light. And I'm also eagerly waiting for the shirt version.

Is it blooming on your needles now? Or are they glowing like mine? I have virtually every pair of needles in the 3 to 6 mm sizes occupied. Oops. So: Keep knitting! Have a great weekend with lots of spring spirit and knitting time!

{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

Transitional phases are always such a thing. No longer really one, but not yet really the other. It's no longer really winter, but it's not really spring yet either. In the morning you might still need a hat, but in the afternoon in the sun sometimes even a shirt with cardigan over it is enough.

So what to do? I'd say: we focus on spring knits with an option for layering. So nice and cozy in the morning, a little looser and lighter in the afternoon. Shall we just work our way from the bottom layer to the top? You're on!

Also chic solo

There are various options for the bottom layer. And I'll say right away: This is where the Maschenfein team is divided! So before I make a little excursion into the realm of knitted bustiers, I want to tell you about a Maschenfein design that fits perfectly into the warm season: our Cosima Top.

The design is from Marisa and you can find it with three yarn options in our store: double Verona, Como or Cosma - all from Lamana. The first two variants are rather something for cooler temperatures. If you want to wear your top solo, you should go for the cotton modal yarn Cosma .

you can adjust (Strap) length comfortably

The design is knitted top down. You start with the respective triangles, where the back is higher than the front. Then join to the round and knit your desired length. When buying, make sure that you buy one extra skein if you want to lengthen the top. We will be happy to advise you on this in Support if you are unsure how much more yarn you need ("support@maschenfein.de").

Finally, knit the straps as an Icord. The highlight: You can knit the strap as long as you want. At the ends are fastened with knots and you determine how deep or high the straps should sit.

Top Cosima

Sugarboo bralette
Oh la la: Sugarboo Bralette.
Photo: © Caidree

In the course of the discussion about tops for underneath quickly became apparent in the Maschenfein chat: When it comes to knitted bustiers, we disagree like rarely before. Which is also a good thing. Not everyone always has to like everything.

Directly on the skin? Then cashmere, please!

So Jule and I went researching (And let me tell you: I've seen things ... There are limits. ). But we are really, really taken with the Sugarboo Bralette from Caidree. We put this up for you with Cashmere Worsted by Pascuali. Because honestly: Directly on the skin we probably won't do compromises.

You knit the design top down - and thus have the possibility to adjust the length quite individually. I for my part would not wear the bralette without something over it, but under a blouse I find it extremely pretty!

Next layer

Now that we can tick the box on the bottom layer, we move on to shirts. That's where I'm a big, big fan of Lene Holme Samsøe. The Dane just designs such beautiful knitwear - be sure to check out her Ravelry page!

In addition to the current Pebble top, which you can see above in the "ad block", she has already designed some time ago the shirt Summer Dahlia. On the yoke you'll find the familiar Dahlia pattern, which not only looks pretty, but is also a lot of fun to knit. You knit top down with Line from Sandnes.

Anyway: Line!

The yarn is so, so good for spring and summer. The mix of cotton, viscose and linen just brings everything you need for the warm season. Since I must also definitely recommend again the set of Tiril Eckhoff for Sandnes from last year: Shirt, sweater, shorts. If you start now, you'll have a great wardrobe for the rest of the year. I knit the shorts last year and am sooo excited about them! They were fun to knit, finished in a jiffy, and wear great. And no, I definitely don't have ballerina legs. Or well-trained biathlete legs like Tiril. Don't even know what to call mine. Couch legs with playground excursion experience? Maybe!

Summer Dahlia
The yoke on the Summer Dahlia is just great!

Short sleeve happiness

Speaking of short legs: I don't have too long arms either. And yet, I occasionally manage to knit myself too short sleeves on sweaters. This is very annoying and leads to me either unraveling again or using cuffs (preferably these ones from Ito). The risk of knitting too short sleeves doesn't exist with summer shirts. What a luck! We still prefer to stock up our summer wardrobe.

Sirts are sooo practical: Hae Tee

Plain tee
Plain tee
Suri shirt
Suri shirt

For example, with the Hae Tee from aegyoknit. The shirt is knitted sideways and has a loose stitch definition. You will find in the kit Økologisk Sommeruld from CaMaRose. The yarn is made of 70% virgin wool and 30% cotton. The colors can be combined wonderfully with each other.

You get a very clean look with the Plain Tee from Lone Kjeldsen. We have put up this design for you with the pure cotton yarn Organic Cotton from Krea Deluxe. Here, too, you work sideways, and finally the side seams are knitted together under the arms. Bold Sophia always dreams of white shirts in the summer. Even though her kids always prove her wrong... I just love the thrill of having kids with strawberries on my lap!

Also still quite new in the store is the Suri shirt from Caidree. I'm not usually into tweed, but here I really like the sprinkeled look! In the kit is the pure silk yarn Tussah Tweed from BC Yarn. Important note at this point: dyeing silk in these deep colors requires a lot of dye. So, the knit may bleed a bit the first time you wash it, or it may also rub off a bit when you wear it. So feel free to rinse it in cold water before wearing it for the first time.

Now of course we need something for on top. This week I have, among other things, the Portobello Sweater by Cheryl Mokhtari aka Coco Amour for you. The Londoner designs such great, simple garments - they fit in every closet.

You'll knit the striped Portobello Sweater top down from Double Sunday by Sandnes. I love the neckline so much! And sewing on buttons is quite meditative, too. The German pattern is not yet available on Ravelry, but here from the designer.

Last week I had also shown you the Robinia Light by Anne Ventzel. Now we also have the knitting kit for it and of course all agreed: Yes, we need it. Absolutely. Well, I certainly do. We have put up three options for you. Como from Lamana, Cashmere 6/28 and Sole (both Pascuali). I'll take Sole , and you?

Robinia Light
You want it as much as I do: Robinia Light.

So while you're hopefully busy making plans for your next knitting projects, I can tell you that the test knits for new Maschenfein designs are in full swing. The test for the Hortensie Cardigan is almost finished - look forward to the pattern!

This will be beautiful: Küsel shirt from Maschenfein.

Soon we will start with the test of the Küsel Shirt. Marisa knits it with Bio Balance from BC Yarn and Silky Kid from Kremke Soul Wool. We have other yarn combos in mind - stay tuned! The absolute eye-catcher of this short-sleeved shirt is definitely the long hem, which you fasten with a knot on the side.

Maschenfein knitting round

Yes, I know. It's not getting easier when it comes to making decisions for the next project. That's why I still step up my game without a guilt and show you impressions from the knitting round.

Corina knits the Hortensie Cardigan from Merino Baby and Manada. The more I show it, the worse it gets for me. Will I have to knit it too? Since some of us in the team participate in the test knitting, it will often be represented ... I can not stay without it!

Fancy some cherries? Then look forward to the new design from Mirjam Walchshäusl. Stephanie is here just in the test knitting and the Marilyn Top already makes you want summer. It is knitted with Alba from BC Yarn.

Twice Cosma from Lamana is available at Stepanka and Heidi. On the left you see the already above mentioned Cosima Top, on the right the Poppy Tee from PetiteKnit.

Phew. Do you know that? When you're browsing through the Maschenfein store and some yarns just magically appear in your basket? Oops, that might happen to me right now. There's just nothing you can do about it! Have a great weekend and lots of knitting time!

There is much that can be said these days. But especially in these times, one - including me - is also overcome by a certain speechlessness. But I have one word for you: Thank you. Thank you for last weekend, when so many of you supported our fundraising campaign for children in Ukraine.

Over 4,000 euros were collected in this way. We rounded up and could transfer 5000 Euro to Unicef for the Ukraine emergency aid. Thank you for this insane sign of solidarity!

Knitting comforts

The first days I couldn't even knit, meanwhile it has its calming effect again.
Photo: © Ines Grabner / Maschenfein

And also today I would like to give you with the Saturday coffee again a nice start to the weekend. As good as it can be in these times. But if there's one thing I've noticed personally over the last few days, it's that I sometimes need distractions. I need to keep my hands busy. That works best for me with knitting needles.

To help in any way, today I present, among other things, a few designs of Ukrainian designers. But I also have news from the house Maschenfein and in general more designs and webtalk in the luggage. So make yourselves comfortable, I wish you a lot of fun reading!

Buy pattern, support people

There are many ways to help the people in Ukraine or the incoming refugees. In addition to donations of money and goods, you can also support knitting designers by buying their pattern. One sold tutorial is certainly not much, but what if a lot of people do it?

Sweater Northern Lights

Together with Jule I have picked out pattern and matching yarns.instructionsttern are all in English, but maybe one or the other would like to knit one of the designs anyway. With our free translation table you also have a great help with the individual knitting vocabulary.

The sweater on the left is called Just over sweaterdesigned by Olena Tytarenko. Knitted from the bottom up in single pieces. But without knowing the pattern in detail, I believe that you can also knit seamlessly from the bottom up to the sleeves. We recommend Puno Winikunka from Pascuali (that would be a bit more spring-like) or Merino from Knitting for Olive (a bit warmer) or also Organic Balance from BC Yarn (thanks to cotton content again a bit more spring-like). The sweater is cozy, oversize cut and just perfect to snuggle in.

Warm ears, warming thoughts

You can find a nice beanie with braid and rib pattern at Irina Dmitrieva. Sequoia It is a unisex model and fits head circumferences from 52 to 58 cm. You can knit with Como (classic!), Kosho and Sensai (fleece!) or Cashmere Lace and Manada (cashmere fleece!). In the pattern you will also find a knitting chart, which makes the reknitting even easier.

The Zipper Sweater Northern lights by Liudmyla Babintseva was discovered by Jule. Luckily! It is knitted top down. There is also a video tutorial - I assume for inserting the zipper. I really like the rib pattern on the neckline and cuffs. For reknitting we recommend the British Blue Wool. By the way, there is also a children's version of the design.

Delicate design: Brescul YokePhoto
: © Natalie Pelykh

You can find a very delicate model at Ukrainian designer Natalie Pelykh. The sweater Brescul yoke is knitted seamlessly top down. The pattern cover the sizes from 12 months up to adult size 62. You could knit the model, for example, with Schachenmayr's crown yarns (How about Premium Cashmere or Premium Silk?). An alternative would also be Modena from LAMANA.

There are many, many more tutorials from Ukrainian designers. You can find them on Ravelry by setting the filter for "Designer Country" to "Ukraine". Or just click here, I have already posted it for you 😉 .

A new Maschenfein design

I know, I know - this is what you have been waiting for. Since yesterday Stola Frieda is available in the store. The wonderful cable stole that Marisa knitted shortly before her Corona quarantine and that accompanied her through turbulent weeks. That's how it is with knitting: Often there is a piece of history or a thought in every stitch.

Stole Frieda
The Frieda stole has a beautifully catchy cable-knit pattern.

You can knit them from Merino Baby and Manada from Pascuali ...
Stole Frieda
... or from Merino and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive.

The stole has a catchy cable stitch definition that you're sure to get into your head quickly after a few repetitions. The biggest difficulty is certainly the choice of yarn and color. We had to include some kind of hurdle! 😉 Like Marisa, you can work with Merino and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive oooor - and here Sandra is already weak - with Merino Baby and Manada from Pascuali. You can get to both kits here.

Pascuali has purely by chance recently presented great combination options on Instagram. Marisa will show you some more on Instagram next week (and I'll be happy to show them again on the blog, of course). You can also send us an email at any time to "support@maschenfein.de". Sandra and Jule go to sleep with the color cards and know the numbers by heart.

Pascuali fundraiser

À propos Pascuali: Until tomorrow, Sunday, March 6, 2022, Paul will donate the proceeds from sold single Pascuali patterns to help in Ukraine. So be sure to check out the manufacturer's site. It's only important that you don't buy the pattern from us with the kits, but directly from Pascuali.

Socks in the shopping cart ... Yes, no, maybe

I've probably added this kit to my cart three times now, and then hesitated again. Will I manage to knit two socks? That's always the crux with these things. But I would be lying if I wasn't Basic Socks Light not be very excited about them. Jule, too, by the way. How cool would pink socks with natural colored stripes be for spring? So with me spring 2024, if I have them then ready (I spare me here sarcastic jokes about the future in general). But they would be chic, that's for sure! Knitted from the tip to the shank with Merida from LAMANA. Pink is color number 40, nature No. 00. Just so.

Tweed lovers take note!
Photo: © ChrisBerlin

If you like to knit tweed yarn, you should pay close attention now: Since this week we have another kit from ChrisBerlin online - namely the Cardigan Sweety Tweedy. In it you will find Como Tweed from LAMANA, which is knitted in combination with Premia knitted.

Sweety Tweedy is available in eight different sizes, ranging from a chest circumference of 90 to 180 cm, each with a positive ease of 5 to 25 cm. The jacket is knit from the top down, and the shawl collar is optional. The rib pattern on the torso is also found on the sleeves.

It was also with mild dismay that we discovered this week that SANDNES is no longer publishing the 1904 issue. In it you will find, among other things, the still popular Palettjakke. So what to do? Offer you the pattern individually. You can find them for free in the respective knitting kit? Is that something? That is something!

You know what's been really good this week? Blue skies and sunshine. Just close your eyes for a moment and let the sun shine on your face. That's what Jule and Sandra did too (even dressed appropriately). The one in the Kelly Genser from SANDNES, the other in the Coming Soon Sweater by Paula_m. I would take both of them. So the sweaters. The colleagues I have yes fortunately already. <3

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/melpomene_13_ / instagram.com/bolerohund

You can find something to snuggle up in at Melpomene. She has the Chunky Dahlia V-Neck Cardigan by Lene Holme Samsøe from Snefnug from CaMaRose - and she sums it up pretty well when she writes: In these times, all you can do is knit and pray.

At Heidi 's you will discover a clever piece from Ankestrick: She has knitted the Sydvester Sweater knitted it from Merino and Heavy Merino from Knitting for Olive. What looks like Fair Isle is actually a pattern of lifting and brioche stitches. So you knit with one color at a time.

Oh yes, color. It just feels good these days. I brought them in the form of flowers into the apartment. And at our graphic designer Stine I discovered a great (English) tutorial for crocheted flowers, which she shared in her newsletter. So if you want to crochet again and use up leftovers, please go here.

As in the last Saturday Coffee, I wish you a beautiful, peaceful weekend. I don't know how often I will write this. But if there's one thing we're being reminded of right now, it's how fragile everything is. So wishing for peace can never hurt.
