"We apologize for the delay." That's probably how Deutsche Bahn would put it. I'm going to do something similar: I'm late with Auf den Nadeln - and I'm really sorry about that!

Somehow something always got in the way. But now it's finally time and the Maschenfein team is only too happy to tell you what they are working on.

Basic Socks Light by Paula_m.

Louisa has been joining our team for a few weeks now. And as befits a proper debut at Maschenfein, she went straight for the Saturday coffee. Ha!

Sometimes I just have to give in to the Saturday coffee inspiration and start a small intermediate project. If I'm lucky, I at least manage to start with the second sock before the desire for my actual main project comes back 😉 And so long I just knit the Basic socks light from Paula_m from Premium Silk from Regia.

Once again there are socks at Jule. Here, too, the basic inspiration lies with Paula_m - but then the discipline has won.

The beautiful new socks from Paula_m reminded me that I still have a similar looking lonely sock in the wool basket... so I finally put on the second sock from the crown yarn during my skiing vacation Premium Bamboo. Let's hope this pair of socks will be finished someday, hihi....

And again socks. This time at Jule's.

Together with Jule, Sandra takes care of our support, answering your questions about designs, yarns and orders. Not a risk-free activity, if you ask me ...

That can happen when you consult a customer and get stuck on her project. And then the yarn was in the basket and shortly after at home. Well, so now I'm knitting a winter cardigan in the spring awakening. The good thing: For next winter, the Diamond jacket by Anne Ventzel then hopefully certainly ready.

Hard to feed the chipmunk

I myself am still at the very beginning of a new project. So for now: knit stitch samples!

For well-known reasons I turn slowly but surely to the topic of baby knitting. Quite essential is a baby blanket. For the yarn I have chosen Sole from Pascuali. I'm still fiddling around with the pattern, but I'm really looking forward to knitting it!

Black or blue? No matter - the main thing we have in hand for knitting! Applies of course also for Marisa.

While we're finishing up the last to dos for our Mother's Day Shawl Knit-Along, I've been knitting a few rounds on my sweater every now and then My Black V from ChrisBerlin. Good things take time, but it's worth it. And the blue combo of Cheeky Merino Joy from Rosy Green Wool and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive is just great!

What is good for us right now

We're sure you feel the same way we do: In times like these, our thoughts can simply take a roller coaster ride. In order not to lose the overview or confidence, we have noticed that - in addition to knitting, of course - a long walk is really good for us.

Observing that nature just doesn't care about the world standing on its head and everything is about to switch into spring mode makes our thoughts brighter. For a moment, bad images fade into the background like that. And we are already insanely looking forward to next weekend: Because that's when we get together as a team and start the pre-sale for the Mother's Day Knit-Along. Two things that will definitely lift your spirits! What are you guys up to?

Are you familiar with the term doomscrolling? In German it means doom scrolling, i.e. the exclusive consumption of bad news on the web. If there is a time for this method, it is ours. For the last three weeks, I've also been lost on news sites, even before going to bed (you can imagine the consequences).

The trouble is, doomscrolling doesn't help - not on either side. Instead, I now consume in doses, processed and at reasonably fixed times. The result: I feel more joy and lightness again - without forgetting the suffering of others.

Instead of bad news, first Saturday coffee

In this respect, I wish you a wonderful good morning for Saturday coffee. Which should give you and us as always a good time. Just get your head out, lose yourself in the knitting world (sort of scrolling through exclusively beautiful things) and make new plans. Let's go!

Designer Susanne Müller wears the Narbonne Sweater in cream. The model is ribbed with overcut sleeves and turtleneck.
Narbonne Sweater
Photo: © Susanne Müller

I still owe you the latest model from Paula_m: the Narbonne Sweater is a great ribbed sweater, knitted seamlessly top down. And even though Susanne herself said that she was actually almost too late with a turtleneck model, I have to say: Nope. I don't think so.

On the one hand, you are fast with needle size 4, the ribs provide the necessary variety and honestly: Who doesn't like to snuggle up in a warm sweater in the evening? I'll easily keep this up for a while (okay, because of acutely growing belly circumference I'm currently switching to my cardigans, but you get what I mean, right?). And I don't know how designers do it, but in 99% of the cases I always want to knit the model in the same color. So in this case Como and Premia in nature, both from LAMANA.

In the knitting world heavily in trend: structural patterns

If you want to have it even more varied knitting-wise: Please have a look at the Sweater Ingrid from PetiteKnit very closely. So closely that your hand might slip on the mouse and this "put it in the shopping cart" happens. Well, it's never happened to me personally, but I hear about it all the time. It must have something to do with knitting addiction, but I don't have that either. You know.

Like most of the designs from PetiteKnit you knit Ingrid top down. First separately and in rows, and then starting below the arms in rounds. And if there's one thing I'm really into this year, it's knitting textured patterns. I think that's just cool. We suggest as yarn the combi Merinoull from Sandnes and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive. Sandra also picked out matching colors for you within two minutes (I'm not lying). Shall I give away a few? Alright (in the kit Jule has preset more for you):

Putty for Merinoull and Cream for Soft Silk Mohair (for those who like something light).

Mørk Gråmelert and Slate Gray (for all lovers of muted gray tones).

Navy and Dark Blue (for Sandra all who love a deep blue).

Powder Pink and Soft Rose (all ballerinas out there for me ).

Rust and Dusty Robin (for those who prefer a warm shade of red).

Mette wears the Ingrid sweater, which is adorned with various textured patterns.

Big knitting love. So really big.

Phew. After I have presented you now so the colors, itching in my fingers. So really. I want immediately to the knitting needles! The feeling is not better when I show you the next three designs.

Designer Melanie Berg wears her shirt A Study in Pink. The hem and yoke are decorated with a lace pattern, the sleeves are short.

The model wears the North sweater. The sleeves are wide cut, the sweater itself is light with dark stripes.

The model wears the lightweight mohair sweater Mohair Gallant. The is cut shortened.
Mohair Gallant Sweater

What you see here? The purest temptation! Well, at least that's true for me. From left to right: A Study in Pink From Melanie Berg, North Sweater from Hanne Rimmen and Mohair Gallant from Caidree. First and last model are knitted top down of the North Sweater on the other hand from bottom to top. And I'm usually all for tight sleeve bands, but for this one North Sweater I'm more than willing to make an exception (It's kind of like when you've always been a Hugh Grant fan, but then find Colin Firth very attractive, too. Update: Except Marisa. She sticks with Hugh Grant, though I'd bet she thinks the sweater is great, too).

A Study in Pink is something for all those who now just feel like short-sleeved designs or are generally not a friend of Sleeveisland. Not to mention the pretty pattern on the yoke and torso. We suggest you Puno Winikunka from Pascuali.

I admit it, I want to seduce you

For the North sweater we advise you to Milano and Premia from LAMANA. Designed from the bottom up, knit the front and back separately from the armhole and shape the shoulder slopes with short rows. Do you feel this sweater too? I do! If you want to knit it without mohair, you could also use Cheeky Merino Joy from Rosy Green Wool.

The design Mohair Gallant is in any case reserved for Jule. But if you prefer it a little longer, you can easily extend the model. After all, it is knitted top down. We recommend double Silky Kid from Kremke Soul Wool.

Kukka Shawl
Photo: © Rosa P.

If you would like to knit a shawl: No problem at Maschenfein of course. One of the latest additions to our kits is the Kukka Shawl by Rosa P. You can easily vary the size of this uncomplicated triangular shawl. How about a bandana, for example? Or would you prefer the big cozy version? In terms of yarn, we suggest two options: Sensai and Urugami from Ito or Modena from LAMANA and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive.

À propos scarves: At this point I would like to tell you today that next week Saturday the sale of the knitting kits for this year's Mother's Day Knit-Along starts. We're looking forward to it so much and are designing it a little differently this year. You'll find out more next week in Saturday Coffee!

Franzi Klee, olé, olé!

Do you know who talked to each other on the phone these days? Marisa and Franzi from the Leipzig fair fashion label Franziska Klee. What did they discuss? Well, that it's high time for a new sales slot! And so, starting Friday, March 18, for ten days you can once again buy the wonderful knitted accessories from Franzi and her team. As always, the Leipzigers start with the production only after the end of the sales round, as usual everything by hand and from German natural leather. After the products are finished, the bags will then go to you. So plan on a slightly longer processing and shipping time. But we can justifiably say: it's worth it! There is so much love and passion in the accessories, you can just feel it.

Maschenfein knitting round

Love and passion for the most beautiful hobby in the world I also always feel when wandering through the #maschenfeinstrickrunde on Instagram. There is simply something to discover every time!

The Instagram Knitting Round March 12, 2022

What does this man and the field have to do with it? Quite simple: This is Paul from Pascuali and he plants trees (when he's not tinkering with yarns for you and us). Because it is important to him and the rest of the team to live and work as sustainably as possible, they have created the campaign #strickdeinenbaum with which they support a reforestation project in Lüdenscheid. So when you buy yarn from Pascuali, you are also doing something for the environment.

Spring fever also comes to Anja: She has knitted a Cumulus Blouse knitted a truly timeless design that fits perfectly into the coming season.

Charlima and Simone knit a blue-heavy sweater. One knits the Stole Frieda from Maschenfein, the other knits the Jim Sweater from Paula_m. No, I don't need either one. No, no.

And what all do you not need knitwear designs? We all have ourselves so under control and are so disciplined. Therefore, comes with me immediately a Maschenfein package with of course only necessary things that I have acquired so not at all spontaneously. Everything as always so. 😉

Have a nice, sunny weekend. Have fun browsing and knitting!

I'm sick of it. Honestly. I don't like to start here with "The news is lousy, luckily we can knit" anymore. I'd love to just show you beautiful designs at Saturday Coffee, share news from the knitwear world and the knitting world in general, and have a good time together.

We want to help

And we will have that too, that good time. But before that I want to tell you a story: Actually, we had planned to show you the handmade needle cases of the Canadian label Thread & Maple soon and order them for you. The cases can be designed differently and are handmade from leather - in Ukraine. Olga, who we are in contact with about the orders, is Ukrainian herself and we can only guess how she is doing right now.

Production has now been stopped for the time being, for understandable reasons, and so we directly feel the impact that this war has on us as well. And yet it is not we who fear for our own lives or those of our families. That is why we want to help.

We have decided to donate 1 euro per sold ball to Unicef Children's Aid in Ukraine this weekend. Because the biggest victims of a war are always the smallest of a society. We thank you already now for every order!

In this sense, I wish you even more than usual a wonderful good morning for Saturday coffee, in which you discover beautiful designs and the first messengers of spring and learn new things from the knitting world - and at the same time can do good. This much is certain: We will not let ourselves be defeated!

New at Maschenfein: Pure Silk from Knitting for Olive

It makes my fingers itch, don't you?
Photo: © Sandra Groll

A nice package arrived at Sandra's the other day. With finest yarn for spring and summer: Pure Silk from Knitting for Olive. It's especially funny that Sandra will now knit samples directly from it, just before another package arrived with Snefnugour fall-winter all-rounder. Because Sandra - infected by a customer - has to let winter knitting on the needles again. It almost tears her, I can tell you 😉 But some inspiration you just can not escape.

The Pure Silk is a yarn treasure that I hope will soon find its way onto my needles. After this slushy winter, I'm really in the mood for spring. And even though delicate tops don't really go with my baby bump right now, I can a) dream and b) still knit whatever I feel like. My favorite at the moment is the Cumulus Tee from PetiteKnit. We have already created two different variations for you (one with Lunaronce with Kinu), but since Pure Silk is even the original yarn, this version must of course also purely.

Rather something with long sleeves?

Of course, I understand all those who do not yet feel like spring or who just generally freeze faster. No worries - I have also found beautiful things for you this week.

Henri Cardigan
Photos: © Johanna Gehrisch / Isabell Kraemer / Inês Oliveira
Fjolla
Cardi Jumper

First of all there is the Henri Cardigan by Johanna Gehrisch, which you can knit from a newly discovered favorite combination of ours: Merino Baby and Manada from Pascuali. The model has wide sleeves and a shortened cut. But since you knit top down, you can easily extend the cardigan. Just add the number of balls in the shopping cart.

In the newsletter I also "revealed" to you that the color palette of the Merino baby has been extended and can now be perfectly combined with Manada can be combined. You want to know about all the innovations? Then you can read the newsletter here and sign up for it under this link.

You already know the sweater, but ...

... I would like to offer you Fjolla from Isabell Kraemer also the above mentioned combination of Merino baby and Manada recommend. Simply because I find them already beautiful! By the way, many PetiteKnit designs (namely those with a gauge of 21 sts stockinette stitch on 10 cm) can be knitted from it. Isabell's top-down model is ideal when the sun is already shining, but it's still too fresh for short sleeves. Our "old" recommendation, Fjolla from Kosho and Sensai remains the same, of course. You can find the kit here.

Also brand new among the knitwear designers this month is Inês Oliveira. From Cardi Jumper I was immediately enthusiastic. You can wear the button front as well as the back and since it is knitted seamlessly top down, lengthening the torso is no problem. Inês has worked with Merino and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive, you can find both yarns in our shop.

Soft Silk Mohair is also used in this cute scarf: Erna Scarf From Rust Knitwear. It is knit from the center out and has I-cord edges all around. Made from the double mohair thread, it's nice and airy and perfect for spring.

From the "Erna-series" you can also find hat and gloves. If you want to knit the whole set, we recommend the same as for the other two designs Lovely Merino Treat for the scarf (single yarn).

Bright color or very discreet - you have the choice!

That I show you this cardigan, of course, has nothing to do with the color. Of course not! Cardigan Always There.
Photo: © Joji Locatelli

When Joji Locatelli releases a new design, a lot of people start hoofing it - and rightly so, of course! I also like her designs very much. For example, the cardigan is brand new Always therewhich immediately caught my eye because of the color alone.

You would have several options when it comes to yarn: Lovely Merino Treat from Rosy Green Wool, Merino DK from Cowgirl Blues, Cotton Wool from Rowan, Double Sunday from SANDNES or also Morning Salutation from Kremke.

My favorites would be Merino DK and Double Sunday. Such a strong pink as Joji is unfortunately currently not in stock, but many other beautiful colors.

Rather wintry is the sweater Gossamer Twist Lite from Caidree. But that's not a bad thing - on the contrary. Designs like this definitely don't let the, I'll call it "fire", for warm, cozy yarns burn out in me. Especially not when two of my favorite yarns are used here: Bergamo and Premia from LAMANA.

Designed the model from the top down with a nice high collar. Since no cool morning wind can harm us. The sleeves are long, but of course you are free to shorten them. You can shape the neck with short rows, but you don't have to. The hem is worked with slits.

Psst ... Webtalk

Before I take you on a walk through our knitting circle, here's a reminder of our job posting: Maschenfein is looking for editorial support 🙂 If you love to write and knit, feel free to apply! You can find the full job description here.

For all crocheters among you - and those who want to be - I also have a tip: Laine did a live interview with Molla Mills on Instagram. She is the author of the book Crochet Crush and simply a great source of inspiration. Feel free to check out the video (it's in English and you can find it here). And for those who prefer reading: On the Laine blog there is a written interview. Phew, I immediately notice how I become unreasonable and think something like "So crochet you should also again!"

Maschenfein knitting round

So who knows what will be going on in the next few weeks on my needles? In any case, I do not lack inspiration - also thanks to you.

New addition to our knitting circle: Sandra's oldest knits a new loop.
foto: © Sandra Groll

By the way, there was also a new member in our knitting group - in the form of Sandra's eldest son. He had knitted himself a loop some time ago, which unfortunately broke. But now he's hooked again and is knitting another version. Snefnug. In blue. Quite the mom!

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/marie.ffalz / instagram.com/petra_knits

Since I finally managed to knit my son a sweater (he's still too little to do it himself), I'm a big fan of knitted children's clothing. A great addition to any (children's) wardrobe is the Festival Sweater from Petite Knit, here at Marie to see. She knitted with Suave of Pascuali knitted and I am quite enchanted by stitch definition and color choice.

Once again Petra offers PetiteKnit - here in the form of the Cumulus Blouse. Also here the Suave is used in combination with a silk-mohair thread. This design, I tell you, is a must have for your wardrobe.

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/aniknits / instagram.com/affentheaterlove

You can get warm feet from Ani: She knitted her sock design for her mother. Walk in your favorite boots for her mother. A nice gift, knitted with the crown yarn Premium Silk from Regia.

Denise knits with Merino 120 from Lang Yarns - namely The Dahlia Barn Jacket by Lene Holme Samsøe. Here, too, it will certainly be a favorite part very soon.

And now? Now I wish you a quiet, peaceful weekend. Maybe you want to knit some little hearts out of leftover yarn - like this one from Paula_m, for example. And in general, I would like to warmly recommend some statesmen to take up their knitting needles. With the needles in your hand, you simply make less mischief.

It was pretty windy the last few days! I hope you all remained in one piece and have no major damage to complain. In any case, I have again become aware of how important such a knitted cap is. Sure, the temperatures are clearly in the plus range, but the wind is just unpleasant when it catches you so bare head.

In this sense, I wish you a wonderful good morning for Saturday coffee! Here today, in addition to beanie inspiration, there is also a job posting. But more about that later! First knitting, of course.

It's sure to knit up quickly: Beanie Softie.
Photo: © Laine Publishing

For Valentine's Day, the Finnish publisher Laine has published a small gift: the free pattern for the hat Softie (in English). The ribbed model is knitted double-threaded - either with double Børstet Alpakka or alternatively with one thread Børstet Alpakka and one thread Kosboth from SANDNES. And if you can take Kos, also goes Snefnug from CaMaRose. Do you know what that means? Best remnant recycling!

Your favorite hat designs

Did you know that you can change the order in which our knitting kits are displayed? For example, you can choose to see the newest products at the top, sort the kits by price, or even by popularity. The three beanie designs above seem to be your favorites. I have already knitted the hat Sarah and the hat with cables myself - the model from LAMANA is still missing. But I've been eyeing it for a long time! The Hat with braids can be found in our basic book, which we just reordered. Sign up here with your email address and you'll get a notification when it's available again.

I also discovered a pretty cardigan on Ravelry (I could spend hours here, honest): Manaouet From Along avec Anna. Et ne vous en faites pas, the tutorial is also available in German!

Knit this pretty design in a broken rib pattern top down. You start at the collar and then shape the shoulders. The sleeves sit loosely and are knitted right on. Anna has chosen Manaouet a combination of three threads: one thread and two threads. Merino and two threads Soft Silk Mohair - all from Knitting for Olive. And while I'm listing these, I may already be thinking about what colors to use. So maybe! I've got me covered!

Cardigan in broken rib pattern from Along avec Anna
Cardigan Manaouet fits perfectly into the spring. Or any other season, for that matter.
Photo: © Along avec Anna
Another beautiful design: sweater Erell.
Photo: © Along avec Anna

In general there are a lot of nice designs from Along avec Anna - and some of them even with German translation. For example, I stumbled across the Erell (jumper) and promptly got stuck. Such designs are just perfect for the transition. Not too cozy, but still with long sleeves. The delicate pattern on the torso is a subtle eye-catcher.

Knitted here - attention! - from the bottom up. I'm a big fan of the "top-down" method, but I have to admit that with the so-called "buttom-up" designs, the finish at the shoulders is always very appealing to me. This is often done with the three-needle-bind-off method. Your stitches (from the front and back) are on two needles and you bind off with a third. I really like this finish - you can bind off so that the seam is on the inside or outside, depending on your taste. With my Balloon Jacket for example, the seam is on the inside, on Weekender by Andrea Mowry it is on the outside. Both variations have something going for them! (And yes, I wanted to put this here, too, to make it clear that I have my Balloon Jacket finished. I do knit some projects to the end! ;-))

Ah - the yarn for the Erell Sweater! I almost forgot now. Anna recommends using a yarn with silk content to achieve a nice drape. We have thought a bit about it and would advise you to use the Cosma from LAMANA. There's no silk in here, but the modal content adds a delicate sheen and the cotton adds the necessary weight. And perfect for spring it is also still!

Children sweater from SANDNES

New in the store this week are also (among other things) children's sweaters from SANDNES. They are designs from the magazine 2203 Mykt til Barn and include sizes from about two to twelve years.

Philipe Stripegenser
Photos: © SANDNESGARN
Guernsey Genser
Sophie blouse

I would like to introduce you to three designs. First of all there is the Philipe Stripegenserwhich you knit top down. The yarn is SANDNES Kos so it will be a cozy model, but you can also wear it with a vest over it in spring.

The Guernsey Genser is the mini version of the ladies version of the same name from the magazine 2203. In both cases you work with Double Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair. Knitting is done top down and with a view to new designs from PetiteKnit (Sille Slipover respectively Ingrid Sweater) and My Favourite Things Knitwear (Sweater No. 18), I venture a bold prediction that textured and graphic patterns will be one of the knitting trends of 2022.

Great Alpaca Silke Love

For the third design I decided to use the Sophie blouse blouse. The model is a bit fancier and gets through the yarn Alpaca Silke a noble touch (which does not mean that you can not wear it easily to the day care center. But grandma's 80th goes just as well). Again, you're knitting your way from the top down. The yarn is one of my favorite from the SANDNES cosmos. It's nice and delicate and has a nice sheen thanks to the silk content (30%). Feel free to click through the matching knitting kits - I bet you'll find one or two designs that will shout "Knit me!" loudly.

Maschenfein is looking for reinforcement!

As I'm sure some of you have already heard, I'm going to take a baby break in the spring. For the time of my absence we are now looking for reinforcement in the form of a freelancer. Your task would be to write a bi-weekly Saturday Coffee and prepare it for social media and newsletters. You can find all the exact details in this job posting. So if both knitting and writing are your passions: Apply - we'd love to hear from you! And if not, feel free to tell others about our job posting.

By the way, our team has already expanded this week in the form of Louisa. Some of you may already know her from the #maschenfeinsüdrunde or as one of Sandra's Heinzelhühner. At Maschenfein she will take care of the translation of our website and the English language support, which we want to offer more. You see: We just can't do without plans and ideas! 😉 You can take a look at our complete team here.

Maschenfein knitting round

Just yesterday Sandra wrote me that a customer had seduced her and that she now had to knit the Diamond Jumper from one of the new Snefnug colors. I keep saying it: Our job is dangerous! 😉 Because just like Sandra and Jule feel with requests from you, I feel when I put together the pictures for our Maschenfein knitting round.

Sigrid, for example, has also knitted something by Anne Ventzel - namely the Cardi V-Neck. By the way, I find the yarn combination mega: double Sensai with Koshoboth from ITO.

Mary has published two new tutorials the other day: gauntlets and scarf Marawhich you can also find as a set on Ravelry. Both are knitted with Tove and Tynn Silk Mohair from SANDNES.

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/anjas_kostbarkeiten / instagram.com/knitting.jule

There were thrills for Anja. She had finished the model Briana from the eleventh magazine of LAMANA and the sleeves were unfortunately too short. What would I have done? Cursed and rubbed. What does Anja do? Cuts off the border, lengthens the sleeve and sews the cut piece back on via stitch stitch. And now? You can't see a thing. That's what I call true needlework!

By the way, you can also find them at our busy Jule, who not only knits, but also knots. Recently a macramé wall hanging. So beautiful! And you can also get the matching accessories from us.

For my part, I now disappear into a hopefully knitting-rich weekend - and hope you do the same! I wish you in any case a lot of fun knitting and browsing. And: Don't get blown away!

In this week's newsletter, I asked if you were already in a spring knitting mood or would you rather still be in #teamwinterknitting. Personally, I am very hesitant. My solution (you are welcome to adopt it - zero problemo for me): several projects! Ha!

With this in mind, I wish you a wonderful good morning for Saturday coffee with diverse knitting ideas, fresh colors, a manufacturer interview and more webtalk from the knitting world.

Maschenfein

Since the end of last year you can buy the yarns from Rosy Green Wool with us. We are still very happy about this, because the company philosophy of the southern German yarn manufacturer fits very well with what is also important to us at Maschenfein.

We want to offer you high-quality yarns and a great selection - and at the same time live up to our responsibility. That's why we love to work with manufacturers who share the same values. Rosy Green Wool is at the forefront of sustainability and environmental awareness: all yarns are GOTS certified, they work with small manufacturers and unavoidable greenhouse gas emissions are compensated.

You are also burning this topic under the nails and you want to learn more about it? Great! Then I recommend our interview with Patrick, who runs the company together with Rosy. Click here for the article.

While organic wool used to be undyed and scratchy, we now have a much greater variety. At the same time, there is a risk that producers only comply with the minimum criteria. Therefore, it was important for us to use the common good balance sheet to shed light on and improve all aspects of our entrepreneurial activities.

Spring colors

To coincide with the release of the interview, we also have some wonderful news for you: Rosy Green Wool has released a limited edition of warm salmon-pink shades to kick off spring, which - as they write themselves - "gently touch the soul and bring us a touch of wellness".

We have ordered the new limited colors for you for the yarn Cheeky Merino Joy ordered. Of course, those who know me and my color preferences know that I'm kind of all shaky right now. These are all my colors! It is extremely difficult for me to pull myself together.

We have already unlocked the colors for you in the store. You can put yourself on the waiting list and will be notified as soon as they are available. Simply enter your email address in the waiting list field in the product.

How about a scarf?

What you can knit from the spring colors? I imagine shawls from it quite wonderful. You can combine the three colors with each other or with the other colors of the merino yarn. I find these three designs very suitable:

If you want to know more about Rosy Green Wool and different types of fibers, and maybe want to spend an afternoon watching a movie anyway - then I found this video for you. Rosy was a guest on Planet Wissen two years ago and gives insights into wool production.

New colors also at CaMaRose

Growth in the color palette is also available since this week at Snefnug from CaMaRose. The yarn is rightly one of your favorites in the store, but can conjure up so many different things.

From now on you will find eleven uncolored variants with us, which run under the name of Snefnug Nature name. Besides cotton and merino, the yarn consists mostly of alpaca fibers and exactly these wool suppliers are now also the color providers for the eleven new shades.

Undyed and beautiful: snefnug nature.

Cozy designs

Of course, I also have model suggestions for you here. No new yarn, no new color without knitting idea, is clear!

Soulmate Cardigan

If you prefer a small project first, you could take a look at the Leafing Cowl by the Norwegian designer Strikkelisa. The pattern are in English, but thanks to the knitting charts, it should be easy to master. You will need two balls.

Very fresh on the design market since this weekend is the Soulmate Cardigan from Lisa aka Schnieslii. Here, too, you knit with the Snefnug. And even if (!) the winter should be over soon - you can easily wear this cardigan as a jacket replacement.

News from Rosa P.

So if you're still in cuddle mode: there's always a reason to knit soft, warm yarns. For example Breeze from Kremke Soul Wool for the Kukka Cardigan Chunky from Rosa P.

Kukka Cardigan Chunky
Worked from the top down ...
Kukka Cardigan Chunky
... with raglan frames.

The cardigan is knitted top down with raglan stitches. The pretty border is worked with lifting stitches and gives the cardigan together with the easy to remember and knit rice grain pattern the typical "Kukka look".

In general, Jule has added more sweaters for you, all of them top-down designs and therefore ideal to check in between if the measurements fit.

For both sweaters from My Favourite Things Knitwear you will find a Knitting for Olive yarn combination in the knitting kits: respectively Heavy Merino and Soft Silk Mohair. If the Sweater No. 18 has a structured pattern, the Sweater No. 9 is a very classic basic piece that fits into any wardrobe.

Similarly simple, but with ribbed pattern, is Iraty from Emilie Luis. Here we suggest you a Pascuali combination: Merino Baby and Manada. Since the pattern are in English, I wouldn't recommend this model to beginners, but I think it's suitable for practicing knitting according to Enginstructionsttern. As always, I recommend our free table with the most important terms in German and English.

Maschenfein knitting round

Our Maschenfein knitting round on Instagram also reflects the entire spectrum of knitting possibilities. From warm sweaters to small accessories, it's all here:

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/knits_and_photos / instagram.com/sandragroll

Jenny for example knits the just mentioned Sweater No. 9 from My Favourite Things Knitwear, Sandra knits the sweater Sweater Fabiana by Pascuali slipped onto the needle. And I always have to realize that I find some designs really beautiful and interesting even without sleeves!

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/claudia_knits / instagram.com/needle_and_yarn

Little things you can find at Claudia 's and Mary 's - both by chance from PetiteKnit. On the one hand there is the Honey Pillow and on the other hand a double edition of the Honey Purse. I'll be completely honest and admit that the honeycomb pattern drove me to despair when I was knitting it, but I really like it! Sometimes it's just worth biting through.

What's your situation? Is there mindless knitting or something more complicated? Either way, I hope you can spend many hours at the needles! Have a great weekend and have fun knitting and browsing!

I made the mistake last year of proclaiming spring too early. This was shortly followed by a week of winter with snow and then a wet spring.

For this reason I lean 2022 not so far out the window - and still show you a few pretty designs that are perfect for the coming season. Welcome to a Saturday coffee with spring flair and winter backup as well as net talk and store news!

New magazine from Pascuali

For example, you can get into the mood for spring with the new magazine from Pascuali. 16 designs are waiting for you, colorfully photographed and designed in a variety of yarn qualities.

Cardigan Ellna
Sweater Annyka

There is hardly a yarn at Pascuali that could not pass for a favorite. And so it is our good fortune that also the Collezioni Book 5 comes up with different qualities. At Blouson Paulita for example Merino Baby is used - an uncomplicated, super-soft all-season yarn. Knitted seamlessly top down. With three-quarter sleeves, the design is the perfect companion for spring. The wonderful mohair silk merino yark yarn Manada you can find among others at Cardigan Ellna (here in combination with Forest) and the sweater Annyka.

Top down or bottom up?

Instead of Forest you can also combine the cardigan Pinta in combination with Manada so you have even more color combinations. The model is knitted with lace pattern top down.

It's exactly the other way around with the sweater. Annyka you work from the bottom up, the sleeves are then knitted directly on and close with a flat cable pattern at the cuff.

New colors at Sole

If your fingers don't itch ... Pascuali yarns offer wonderful colors in any case.

Maschenfein

In our showroom recently arrived also new colors of the yarn Brine from Pascuali arrived in our showroom. They are delicious, I tell you! With Sole (90% cotton, 10% cashmere) you can knit your way through the whole year - it is simply suitable for so many projects.

In any case, you can find the entire color palette in the Maschenfein store and Pascuali has presented the new colors to you in more detail on Instagram.

If you want to step towards spring in terms of color, but still want to be wrapped up warm: Check out the Bore Sweater from Strikkekaffe. The raglan sweater you knit top down and I think it's the perfect addition to my your wardrobe.

Worked with Peer Gynt from SANDNES. A few new colors here too and holy moly, that pop of green is haunting me! Light jeans, white sneakers, bright green sweater. Howdy!

Rather something to throw on?

Airy-light, on the other hand, is the Poncho Cirrus from Shibui. Rumor has it that there are Maschenfein team members who have already taken a closer look here ...

Cirrus is a lightweight poncho.

Cirrus
You can also hear ...
Cirrus
... call the spring?

We have created two knitting kits for you - one with the original combination Pebble and Silk Cloud from Shibui and once with a Knitting for Olive alternative (Merino and Soft Silk Mohair). We have translated the english pattern for you. If you buy the Shibui kit you get both versions for free (the manufacturer offers this), if you take the alternative you have to buy the Ravelry. If you send us the proof of purchase by mail, we will of course send you the translation as well. No matter which yarn combination you choose in the end, Cirrus is really a great piece. Can not be said otherwise.

In this category fall two other designs that I also want to show you yet necessarily. Both are a bit more wintry, but a) you never know with the weather and b) comes the next winter so or so.

You can knit with or without a collar: Slipover Uraue.
Photo: © Natsuko Iida

First of all there is the Slipover Uraue by Natsuko Iida. You can knit it with or without a collar. Personally, I'm for with, because I like the slit so much.

Another trick of the design is that you can wear the model both on the right and on the wrong side. It is knitted in half brioche and stockinette stitch with Loch Lomond from BC Yarn.

And then Marisa ran across this cool swoncho (sweater + poncho): Ninilchick Swoncho By Caitlin Hunter. Eieiei, there comes great, great desire for multicolored knitting!

The design is certainly something for advanced knitters, but also ideal to work your way up round by round. The pattern are in English, but thanks to charts that indicate the pattern sequence, you get a good, additional orientation. We recommend Como or Como Tweed from LAMANA.

Memo to self: Finally knit multicolored again. For example, the Ninilchick Swoncho.

Goedendag to the Netherlands!

We have also added the first knitting kits of the Dutch designer Gretha Mensen. Be sure to check out her beautiful shawl designs on Ravelry. It was almost preordained from the beginning that her and our fine knitted paths cross.

For now we have chosen three designs: Dunas (knitted with Shetland from LAMANA), Les Roches (knitted with Lovely Merino Treat from Rosy Green Wool) and Snowfrost (knitted with Como Tweed from LAMANA). The pattern for the triangle shawls are also available in German, the scarf in English. Where I would estimate here that just a scarf is a super entry into the English knitinstructionsttern cosmos.

Already a little older, but it is also called "Oldie but Goldie"! CardiganJaycee.
Photo: © Isabell Kraemer

I myself have also stumbled across the cardigan Jaycee by Isabell Kraemer. I don't even remember exactly how that happened - I think a customer wrote that she was knitting the design.

Jaycee Is already from 2018 and once again shows how many beautiful designs there are out there. It's hard to keep up with showing them! The cardigan is knit from the top down. A pattern on the yoke and hem provides a nice eye-catcher for the otherwise stockinette stitch knitted model. We recommend Rakuda from ITO or British Blue Wool Fingering from Erika Knight.

Maschenfein knitting round

I am often accused of seducing people into starting new projects. Again! Yes, mei, do you think it would be different for me? As if I would not be regularly inspired by you and then knit contrary to my other habits simply new things, although the previous project is not yet finished. It is now times a give and take - also at Maschenfein! 😉

Photos via Instagram: © www.instagram.com/_esdee_ / instagram.com/marythisandthat

For example, I would directly take these two designs. Sibel has the Isola Bella Scarf and I would like to knit rhomboids right now. And anyway I need a second one OsakaI would like to have one like Michaela has just finished. And please give them both a big round of applause - what even stitch patterns!

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/wife.duck / instagram.com/betticreates

Record breaking was Lina 's journey. Within one week she knitted the Seaside Sweater for her child. A blue and white striped sweater simply belongs in every wardrobe. Bettina also went blue. She knitted a men's scarf from the first LAMANA booklet with men's designs from Como Tweed knitted. This is sure to become a favorite piece.

I'm going to devote this weekend to a future favorite: the Balloon Jacket. It has to be finished, because the next Maschenfein package is already on its way. What's in there and what will it become? I'll tell you soon - I promise! Have a great weekend with lots of knitting time!

We can put a check mark behind "January 2022"! Whatever this year will bring - we have achieved one twelfth. And so we won't be discouraged in February, we'll keep on knitting and let you have a look into our project basket.

The stole grows!

The stole without a name made of merino and soft silk mohair by Knitting for Olive.
Photo: © Marisa Nöldeke

On Instagram, Marisa keeps showing you the progress of her new design: a cozy, lightweight stole made of Merino and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive.

The Corona insulation had one advantage: I got to knit properly, at least after the first forces have returned. And so the stole without a name is close to completion. As soon as the design once test knitted and the color marzipan is back in stock, you may also let off steam!

Good things take time! And if a design is already called Coming Soon Sweater then Sandra invites you to play with words!

The yarn (Como Tweed in the color night blue) came very soon, the sweater, on the other hand, took quite a while to get on the needles. And even now "soon" is still "far away". But when I put it on the doll for the first time for the photo, I was quite happy with the progress ... after all, the Mother's Day shawl is growing at the same time (pssssssssssst). The sweater is still rather figure-hugging, but that will change after washing. Until then, however, there are still a few centimeters ahead of me - and not to forget: A visit to Sleeve Island!

Warm ears with Jule

Cap Ole from Como Tweed by LAMANA.
Photo: Julia Gotthardt

January was rather cold and wet. And this weather will probably accompany us in February for a while. All the better if we have warm ears!

On the needles I have just finished my third Cap Ole from Como tweed. It will match a scarf I've already knitted for my boyfriend. Also on the photo are by the way my Cuffs Elsa from Cheeky Merino Joy from Rosy Green Wool.

As a disciplined knitter, I have ... a new project posted. My Honey Washbag is only missing the lining, so why not start the Balloon Jacket start?

I have been steady for over a year now. Over.a.year!!! That's when you're allowed to fall over. And the oversize model Balloon Jacket from PetiteKnit is just great. Now in winter to snuggle in and in the spring as a normal jacket.

For the yarn I chose the combination Northern Lights from BC Yarn and Midnatssol from CaMaRose - both in natural colors.

When time is short, but the knitting desire is great, smaller projects like gauntlets are the ideal project. They will also be finished this winter, like Arlene's for example.

The first Last minute cuff from Como Grande in the color moss green has already hopped off the needle and fits me very well - hopefully also the friend who gets it as a gift. The color is definitely right up her alley and the cuffs are cozy and warm, perfect for the days that are getting colder and colder in our house. And because they are really easy to knit and go super fast, I will certainly knit a pair for myself, matching my not yet finished brioche scarf.

YOUR KNITTING PROJECTS HERE AT MASCHENFEIN

What kind of weeks are these? You're literally just waiting for the quick test to show two lines instead of one, or for the e-mail from the school to say: "Your class is now in distance learning. And so, even in the Maschenfein team, a few team members are now in isolation and sometimes have to stay in bed.

Since I'm afraid some of you feel the same way, here comes my personal home remedy: A freshly brewed Saturday coffee with lots of knitting ideas, new items in the store (guys, the Sandnes spring collection!) and webtalk. Lean back into your pillows, blow your nose again, and let's go!

SANDNES Magazine 2202: Soft Knit for Women

So with this booklet, the Norwegian yarn manufacturer SANDNES has managed a real treat. 14 great designs, without exception all beautiful. The photos are also real eye-catchers and make great desire to knit.

Whether Franky Genser...
Photos: © SANDNES
... Amy Slipover...
... or Hazel Kjole: All great designs!

I was also very pleased with the fact that most designs are knitted seamlessly top down. You can't believe how many advantages this method of knitting has! On the one hand, of course, a lot of annoying sewing work is eliminated, on the other hand, you can try on your knitted piece at any time, check measurements and extend the design if necessary.

So only one problem remains: Which model should I knit? I'll be honest: I'm really taken with these socks. Don't ask me why. I hardly ever knit socks. But this sweet hole pattern ...

All you non-sock knitters and no-I-don't-want-to-be-a-sock-knitter knitters: Check out the Franky Genser the Or the Amy slipover. Or the Hazel dress. And how do designers always manage to make people want to knit their model in exactly the same color? I never knit green. Never ever. But this Franky Genser I definitely want to have it in this frog green.

New colors at Børstet Alpakka

Bubblegum Pink

À propos new magazine and such: To match the release, SANDNES has also added new colors to some yarn qualities, including Børstet Alpakka. Can we please talk about the pink? And about me? And about the Hazel dress, which I will then wear with my after-baby body on vacation in Denmark? So apart from the after baby body (who invented such a thing?!) I find everything extremely realistic. Hach. I love the fall and winter, but when color comes back into nature and on the needles, it's always nice.

For all new colors and also for the magazine applies by the way: We have already reordered everything and expect a timely delivery from Norway. So note the slightly longer delivery time, enjoy the anticipation and then knit you colorful into the spring.

At this point a little teaser for next weekend. I would like to introduce you to the new Pascuali magazine. Because there you will also find a lot of strong colors that make you want to see the next season. You want to have a look already? Then take a look at Ravelry, there you can already look at all the designs. And we have already added a model for you: Sweater Fabiana from Puno Winikunka. Sandra will knit it and I think it will be a great piece for spring.

Once again something for the gentlemen

LoungeSweaterMen
Simple and beautiful: LoungeSweaterMen.
Photo: © Clarissa Schellong

We are asked again and again for men's designs. A hot tip would be the LoungeSweaterMen by Clarissa Schellong, knitted from Como Grande from LAMANA. Hi there, favorite yarn!

The model is worked from the top down. Short rows increase the neck and the shoulders are knitted with raglan increases. I like that the rib pattern only adorns the torso, but not the sleeves. This makes for visual variety, is fun to knit and makes the sweater a great companion.

If you want to knit yourself something cozy - for which I have of course full understanding - you can now find the kit to the Sweater No. 6 from My Favourite Things Knitwear in the store. How did I come up with it? Well, while doing research for our Maschenfein knitting round (see below), I stumbled across a picture of a customer who was knitting just that sweater. So Jule hurriedly posted the kit so I could show it here today.

Like Eva, we also chose Snefnug from CaMaRose as yarn. The quality fits perfectly with its lightness and volume to this design, which is knitted top down.

If you only buy a little new yarn, it doesn't count, right?

Last week I told you how disciplined I am when it comes to knitting. Well, that was a lie. I admitted that right off the bat. And so I agreed on a compromise with myself (I can negotiate hard as nails, I tell you!). I finish an old project and then I'm allowed to needle something new. Is the perfect solution for me!

Augustins No. 22

Scallop Scarf
Scrunchie Augustins
Augustins No. 2

Perfect for in-between projects are hairbands or even a scarf with a catchy pattern. Besides the scrunchies Augustins No. 2 we now also have the new hairbows Augustins No. 22 from Anne-Sophie Velling or the one from Scallop Scarf from strikkekaffe. With the bows you will find in the kit a combination of Merino and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive (of course you can use up leftovers too!), for the scarf Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair from SANDNES. The clever thing about this model is that it is knitted double. So he will keep you nice and warm in any case.

Reissued with different yarn

The Finnish magazine Laine recently featured knitwear favorites from the editorial team in their newsletter and on Instagram. While reminiscing - and because a customer additionally asked for cardigans without sleeves - I came across the model Summer Longing by Susanne Sommer from the ninth Laine magazine.

While thinking "oh yeah, we have that and oh how pretty!" it then also occurred to me that we no longer carry the yarn we originally intended for the cardigan. So I consulted with Sandra and Jule and from now on you will find in the kit Como Tweed from LAMANA. The tutorial is now also available individually on Ravelry.

Summer Longing and yay, looking forward to summer!

Maschenfein knitting round

Before we look at what you have so on the needles or had, a little tip for tomorrow: ChrisBerlin goes live at 13.30 clock on Instagram and wants to chat with you a little about this year and what designs she plans so. That sounds exciting in any case and maybe you want to be there!

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/marion.ette75 / instagram.com/antares994

Marion has knitted the great Popcorn Slipover that Marisa showed you the other day. It is knitted with Børstet Alpakka and Tynn Silk Mohair. And did I already tell you that there are Børstet Alpakka new colors? So who wants to let it rip: Now is the day.

And then there is Eva with the Sweater No. 6. Thanks for the inspiration! She knits Snefnug in the color powder.

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/doc_dori / instagram.com/flusen_im_kopf

If you love stripes, you'll be happy with Doris (well, me for one): She knitted the Marseille Sweater Junior from PetiteKnit and my great luck is that this model is also available for adults. Stripes for all, I just say and I don't mean (!) the double line on our Corona test cassettes. The red things are allowed to hang around on their own.

"What a cool slipover," I thought when I saw Petra's picture. Only: It's not a slipover, but the equally cool one Snuggle Sweater by Clarissa Schellong, which is still missing the sleeves. Petra is knitting with one of my yarn favorites: Bergamo From LAMANA. And the blue makes me dream of summer - you too?

Have a great, infection-free knitting weekend!

Let's go! We hope you had a good and healthy start into the new year. Maybe one or the other already has an idea what is on the plan for knitting in the coming months. The Maschenfein team of course has many plans, but is still finishing one or the other project from last year. What's on our needles right now and what knitting resolutions we have, we tell you in the first round "On the needles" for 2022.

Knitting for the little ones

Jule knits for a friend's baby: Selma 's Sleep Suit by PetiteKnit.
Photo: © PetiteKnit

Did you all start the new year with empty needles? If yes: Respect! In the team we didn't manage that. Jule, for example, is just finishing the last seams on the Selma's Sleep Suit from PetiteKnit.

I am knitting on Selma's Sleep Suit for a little girl from friends. She came into the world a little earlier than planned, so now I have to hurry. My knitting resolution for 2022 is to knit a Norwegian sweater again. Multicolored knitting has always been my favorite, but I neglected it a lot in 2021.

With fresh project into the new year

Before we get to the real knitting snails (i.e. me), let's take a look at Sandra's knitting basket. She can actually start a new project, but (!) had to work off a few (few) old issues beforehand. That's just for your information 😉.

It really took me a while until this project made it onto my needles. And the sweater is called Coming Soon ... For the yarn I chose Como Tweed from Lamana in the color night blue. After a few gray projects, blue knitting is finally needed again.

And then Sophia wanted a knitting resolution for 2022 from me... I'm not really someone who makes resolutions. And after finishing all the projects I started and really only have this sweater on the needles right now, I think that's a pretty darn good start to the new year. But when I think about what I'd like to knit again, I get tingly fingers at the thought of Fair Isle. Ever since the podcast episode with Sophia from Stichfest, the fantastic Threipmuir sweater by Ysolda Teague has been buzzing around in my head - in cashmere 6/28. That would be something. We'll see if I tackle that one in 2022.

This looks promising: Sandra has Paula_M's Coming Soon sweater on the needles.

News from Berlin

If the yarn is already in the office, it has to be on the needles! Marisa tests Knitting for Olive for a new design.
Photo: © Marisa Nöldeke

Hach, what we are looking forward to our next visit in Berlin, when we can finally go to Marisa's new office aka the Maschenfein showroom.

Of course it was clear that I had to order all the yarns from Knitting for Olive, our latest addition to the manufacturer, for our showroom. And of course it was equally clear that I had to hit something directly. And so Merino and Soft Silk Mohair wandered onto the needles and I'm trying out a stole design.

That also leads me directly to my resolution for this year. Always write down when I create something. So hopefully I can soon show you a new design from Maschenfein!

Freshly rubbed is almost like new

Write along more? That sounds like it was made for me ... I myself am not too faithful to my knitting projects (but better here than anywhere else, right?). And so I started the new year with one or the other legacy ...

While sorting through my yarns, I came across this in my basket. Honey Washbag from PetiteKnit. Criminally neglected halfway through, it lay there sadly. Fate punished me immediately as I continued knitting. I no longer knew in which row I had stopped and found partout the re-entry not. In addition, I noticed some sloppiness.

So: Everything from the beginning! Except for the bottom of the bag I have everything ribbed and knit dutifully row by row and make a note when I pause. Looks much better! And here also shows my resolution for this year: More notes, less memory! Because that no longer works adequately for me since pregnancy and breastfeeding 😉

Back on the go: Sophia knits the Honey Washbag by PetiteKnit. And takes visible notes when she pauses!

Spontaneous change of mind

Suddenly it was clear: The Midnatssol will become a brioche scarf.
Photo: © Arlene Schulte-Vennbur

Plans, as we all know, are there to be changed. This is also the case with Arlene:

Originally the Midnatssol from CaMaRose should be used for another project. But since I didn't get to cast on vacation and had a painful vaccine arm from boosting after vacation, I was only now able to knit stitch samples with this lovely wool.

I liked the brioche pattern soooo well that I have changed my mind and now knit the scarf I urgently needed in the color Gylden. With 8 needle and four threads, the project should be, despite the planned dimensions, hopefully quickly off the needle again. Then I can devote myself to my knitting resolution for this year: I want to dare to a double face project!

Remember when we said at the end of 2020 that 2021 would certainly be better? Well, it didn't work out that way.

However, a different picture emerges when we put on our maschenfein glasses. Then we can say: 2021 was great! And so that you have something to browse through in these last days of the year, today we have our Maschenfein review of the year. We remind you of highlights in the store, in the Maschenfein community and tell you about our personal knitting happiness this year.

With color against gloomy winter weather: January

Sandra was in the witch's kitchen and tried out ITO's dyes.
Photo: © Sandra Groll

January is not necessarily the most pleasant month (as a November child I may say something like that). But luckily we had a remedy against cloudy weather - namely the new dyes from ITO. Sandra went to the witch's kitchen to try them out and re-dyed a sweater. With success! In this blog post I told you more about it.

Of course we also added knitting kits this month. One of our highlights: the shawl Trifle the easy one from ChrisBerlin. Marisa was hooked right away and had to knit herself a copy. The color and yarn combo from Sensai from ITO and Cashmere 6/28 from Pascuali has done it to us until today.

Everything new at Maschenfein: February

I can tell you this much: Our nerves were stretched to breaking point with this project. Did we think of everything? Did everything work? In the end we could say: Yes. For the most part. As it is with a website relaunch. We received so much positive feedback from you, we were able to correct or improve some settings directly and we are still more than happy with the new Maschenfein look.

Of course, Franzi was also a guest on our podcast.

In the store itself, due to the great success, we had started another round of sales of our great accessories, which were created together with the Leipzig fair fashion label Franziska Klee. Another new addition to the wool shelf is the yarn Midnatssol from CaMaRose. It consists of alpaca, Tencel and merino and is due to its yarn weight a wonderful alternative for all who do not want to knit mohair.

All of a sudden, the big day arrived: the Maschenfein website got a major makeover.

Mother's Day Shawl Carla: March

This is a highlight every year: the release of our Mother's Day shawl - or rather, the release of the knitting kit 😉 Because how the shawl will look like in the end, you will find out like every year only when the third part of the pattern appears.

First so ....

... then so! Our this year's Mother's Day shawl Carla.

Also this year the shawl design comes from Sandra's pen. For the yarn she had decided with Marisa for Kinu and Sensai and Shio from ITO. In the end you have a light, soft cozy dream in your hands. Of course, the knitting kit and pattern are still available from us. And in this blogpost you will learn more about the knitalong and the shawl.

Reinforces our team since March: Arlene.

Another highlight in March was the addition to the Maschenfein team. Since then, Arlene has been taking care of our website and all the requirements that a store entails. Funnily enough, before she started at Maschenfein, Arlene only knitted things for her dog Diego, but that was soon to change ...

My knitting highlight 2021 is the Nordic Summer Dress from Witre Design, knitted from Sandnes Line in the color Skifer - my very first garment! It's not quite perfect, but I love it and am super proud of it.

"Should I or shouldn't I?" Yes, she should. In this podcast episode, Marisa spontaneously decides on a new yarn for the Maschenfeinshop.
via Spotify

Our Mystery-Knit-Along was also the topic of a podcast episode. There Sandra answered questions about the design and talked with Marisa about this and that around knitting. During the recording Marisa wore the Anna Cardigan by Pam Allen - an absolute favorite and already in Nöldek's closet for a long time. The only problem: The original yarn was not available at Maschenfein. So Marisa spontaneously decided during the shoot, Piper to order it from Quince & Co. By the way, Marisa is not alone with her enthusiasm for the model. Many of you have been infected and have also knitted one with the yarn. Anna Cardigan knitted one.

Among the first "Piper victims" was Sandra. But when she looked back on her knitting year, she remembered another highlight.

My knitting highlight was the Kolding - not because the pattern are particularly demanding, but because it demanded so much patience from me. Afterwards, I can't really say why... if I had stuck with it, I would have finished it quickly, but other projects kept coming to the fore, so that it was on the needles for an unusually long time for me. Kolding was on the needles for an extraordinarily long time. That I have then actually finished this fall, is my knitting highlight of the year 2021.

News from Finland is always great: May

Whenever we receive an announcement from Laine Verlag that a new book or magazine is being published, we know immediately that it's going to be great. The love of refined details, the passion for beautiful photos and texts - with the Finns, everything just fits.

52 weeks of shawls
Just two of 52 great designs from the book 52 Weeks of Shawls: Cragside by Stella Ackroyd and ...
52 weeks of shawls
Stairway by Susanne Sommer.

A highlight among the publications this year was definitely the book 52 Weeks of Shawls. The timeless designs are definitely enough for more than a year and will certainly accompany us for a long time. We were also pleased that one of the founders of the publishing house, Sini Kramer, was a guest on our podcast.

Knitting and crocheting sisters: June

Organic Wool 1
The color palettes in Krea Deluxe's yarns are simply beautiful.

We are always excited when we add new yarns and especially the corresponding manufacturers to the store. We don't just do that on the side (well, except for Piper ;-)), but think about what fits well to us at Maschenfein (In so far is Piper no exception after all). The yarns from Krea Deluxe fit perfectly to Maschenfein. Behind the Danish manufacturer are the sisters Pia and Heidi. Their goal: high-quality, ecologically produced yarns with a coherent color palette. For one of our summer Saturday coffees, I conducted an interview with Heidi - you can here read it at your leisure.

Yarn growth from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: July

A small part from our Schmeichel range.

I think here Jule had sore fingers from the many entering the yarns. Because in July we added the yarns from the wholesaler Schmeichelpartner from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Also included: BC Yarn from Denmark, Erika Knight from Great Britain, Manos del Uruguay from a South American women's fair trade project or the in-house brand Kremke Soul Wool. Each brand brings its own story and has an exciting history. By the way, the head and heart at Schmeichel is Britta Kremke. I also told you her very personal story in a summer Saturday coffee.

In the summer I have also been busy knitting my dress Lotta by Marie Greene from the fifth Laine magazine. The pattern are now also available for purchase individually on Ravelry.

The Lotta dress has been on my knitting list since the magazine came out in the summer of 2018. This year, the time had finally come! Knitted from double Tynn Line from SANDES (next time I would go for the combi Suave from Pascuali and Tynn Line of SANDNES, because even a tad softer and lighter) it already became a little patience project in the summer. But: Every single round of knit stitches was worth it!

That was love at first sight and now I finally have a dress Lotta!

Maschenfein collaboration with Pascuali: August

I don't know how many yarns have crossed Sandra's desk to be stitch tested. Many! But this one was something very special in any case: Manada From Pascuali.

Manada was significantly involved in the creation of Maschenfein.

Sandra has knitted here especially many stitch samples to try as many combinations as possible.

It was 2020 when Paul, boss and founder of Pascuali, approached us and asked if we would like to co-develop a new yarn. And so Marisa worked in depth on the structure, Sandra on the stitch samples with possible yarn combinations within the Pascuali family, and Maschenfein also had a hand in developing the color palette. The whole thing was a lot of fun - and the result is more than worth seeing. Here you can read more about the history of Manada read.

The SANDNES Knit-Along is in the starting blocks: September

Well, SANDNES has outdone itself! In September, the 2109 magazine appeared - and we were all immediately blown away. And so the decision was quickly made: We want to knit together with you!

Whether Kelly...

... Lourdes...
... or Fleur: Here, each model had something going for it.

So in September we diligently entered knitting kits, ordered booklets and prepared our Knit Along. We started in October - and so many of you participated. Simply great! By the way, the bestseller was the Kelly Genser med Splitt.

Great sweater for late summer: Marta V-Neck Jumper by Lotilda.

Shortly before the start of our #maschenfeinsandneskals Jule has quickly knitted the Marta V-Neck Jumper from Lotilda.

This was a quick project for late summer: the Marta V-Neck Jumper from Lotilda. I knitted it with Midnatssol from CaMaRose. What I especially like about the design is that it's longer in the back than in the front. I'm looking forward to wearing it again in the spring!

Maschenfein moves out October

For a long time, Marisa had her office at home. But in October she moved into her own office. At the beginning, it was still quite a construction site ...

The Maschenfein office was a chance find.

But until the office looks the way you want it to ...
... it takes a little time.

Whether it was the floor, walls, cabinets, or curtains, everything was scrutinized and changed. Of course, this takes some time, but the interim result alone is impressive:

The office will not be a salesroom, but a place to show you - mostly virtually - our yarns and accessories.

Mirrors, lamps and a bright floor sorgren for more light ...
... and even more fun at work.

There have also been some yarn-related changes in October. The first yarn from Rosy Green Wool has moved in with us: Cheeky Merino Joy. The yarns are produced under strict ecological guidelines and since a few months also climate neutral. These were all points that immediately appealed to us.

So moving into her own office was a highlight of Marisa's (knitting) year. But not only ...

Moving into our own Maschenfein office was definitely a highlight of this year. And it still is: A lot has already been done, but a few things are still missing ...

My knitting highlight is the Balloon Jacket from PetiteKnit. The started project I had along with project bag from Mien once at the shooting - and then unfortunately left. When my husband went there again, it was of course gone. The grief was really big with me! But fortunately Lamana has brought out a short time later a new yarn: Como Grande. Together with Premia it is a perfect combination for the oversize model.

All of a sudden, the bag was gone. Definitely a moment of frustration.

Finally see it for real: November

Finally we saw each other in real life: Maschenfein team meeting in Lexow.

Maschenfein

Since the entire Maschenfein team lives all over Germany, some of us have never seen each other "for real". And before we had to stay at home again for pandemic reasons, we got together for a team meeting in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In addition to Marisa, Sandra, Sophia and Arlene, our commissioned and test knitters were also there. We especially missed Jule and Lina (from Sandra's chicken coop) in Lexow - but it was still wonderful knitting days at the Mecklenburg Lake District.

At the meeting, we talked a lot about the SANDNES Christmas booklet, which met with great enthusiasm not only from us, but also from you. Lexow also became the name sponsor for a cuff and headband design by Marisa and Jule. Knitted from Snefnug it will accompany you perfectly through the winter.

Another magazine and another manufacturer with on the Maschenfein board: December

Great designs await you in the latest Lamana issue.

Cowl Inga
Sandra has quickly conjured up a great cowl.
And we are happy to have beautiful and practical knitting accessories from Della Q.

Who thought it would be quiet in December - far from it! Just like you, we have been busy knitting little things for Christmas and of course we have been updating the store. New arrivals include the eleventh LAMANA magazine and knitting accessories from Della Q. And Sandra has created the Headband Ingeborg from PetiteKnit the Cowl Inga designed. Surely it was under the Christmas tree of one or the other. Until Christmas Eve we have been busy working in and on the store, writing texts, creating products(our Christmas shawl has also appeared) and answering your questions. At this moment we are taking a little break, but will be back as usual on January 3rd!

While writing our annual review, I kept thinking, "It's amazing what all happened." And what is mentioned here is only a fraction. The list that Arlene had created was much, much longer. And I can tell you: There's a lot coming up next year, too. In the team and in the store. We will reveal more in due course - but the preparations are in full swing, I can tell you that much 😉.

But for now, the entire Maschenfein team wishes you a happy new year and all the best for the coming year! We look forward to many new knitting adventures with you!
