Sometimes - not with us, of course - the opinion still prevails that knitting is old-fashioned, knitted things unfashionable. I think we all agree that neither is true. The many, many designers prove this with their designs and we all prove this with our knitting results. Apart from the fact that knitting is demonstrably good for you, you actually create small and large works of art.

All the more pleased I am to provide you today again with a fresh Saturday coffee with knitting inspiration and net whisper. But after that, our favorite little coffee goes into a little Easter break to take a breath and collect lots of new ideas for you! (You can also tell my increased coffee consumption by the fact that I refer to myself as coffee with this sentence...) But before that, we'll linger again at our maschenfein breakfast table and have a nice Saturday chat! Because as always, there is much to discuss.

Already knitted a slipover?

In our last Maschenfein meeting, we also briefly got into storytelling. The reason for this was Marisa, who enthusiastically reported on her new project: After a bit of deliberation, she decided on the Friday Slipover V-Neck from PetiteKnit, which we also introduced to you before.

The eye-catcher of the Friday Slipover V-Neck is the broken rib patternPhoto
: © PetiteKnit

So she is a bit "late to the party", as they say today, but better late than never. 😉 Seriously: Still sweater-äh slipovers enjoy great popularity and I personally hope that it remains so. I like them, they are knitted quickly and you can wear them not only in winter.

...and what do I wear with it?

The fact that Marisa hesitated so long to put on a slipover was due to the fact that she was unsure what to wear with it. As a passionate leggings wearer, the slipover was simply too short for her. Our solution: wear a dress underneath or an extended long-sleeved shirt. There are many possibilities - but no one can avoid knitting a slipover.

By the way, the Friday Slipover V-Neck is knitted from Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair by SANDNES and like (almost) all designs by PetiteKnit seamless top down.

Brand new from PetiteKnit is the Louvre SweaterA classic model of the busy Dane, with raglan cut, high collar and wide sleeves. Knitted again top down, the neckline is formed with short rows. In the knitting kit you'll find Peer Gynt by SANDNES, a pure virgin wool yarn made from Norwegian sheep's wool. The yarn has been around since 1938 - making Peer Gynt the oldest yarn in the SANDNES family.

Unfortunately, due to the current situation, the delivery of certain colors is delayed. Either you sign up for your desired color with your email address and be notified when supplies are available. Or you can have a look at the Sunday from SANDNES. Double knit the yarn would be a nice alternative for the Louvre Sweater. If you get cold quickly, you can also use the Alpaca Fino from Pascuali. By the way: In our knitting kits we have added more designs from PetiteKnit and you can also buy their pattern in printed form from now on. If you prefer the digital version, you can still find it on Ravelry or directly on Mette's site.

Hood desired?

As I type these lines, Würzburg spoils me with the finest sleet, puddle alarm and sometimes a portion of hail. So you would like to pull something over your head. But here, too, our favorite hobby has of course a solution.

Ankestrick

Because at least since Lia Lykkes The Simple Knit Hood we know that knitted hoods are a great companion. A perfect extension are hooded sweaters - knitted of course. I have found three designs for you. And I can not spontaneously decide which is the most beautiful!

Since yesterday available and already added to our knitting kit, there is the Tjeelva Hoodie by Rosa P. It is worked top down. The hood is then picked up from the stitches of the neck gauge. The sweater is knitted with two yarns, one Duo and one Tynn Silk Mohair.

Hoodie with pattern

If you don't like to knit stockinette stitch, you should definitely check out TheCozyHoodie by Clarissa Schellong aka cozyknits. Here you also knit top down, but with the so-called SeedRibStitch. This consists of a sequence of four stitches. Clarissa has recorded a great video that explains the pattern and the technique perfectly. It is knitted with two threads Sunday and one thread Tynn Silk Mohair. Single yarn Snefnug would also be possible.

As a third and already so long on my list I would still have the sweater November20 from Ankestrick for you. Thanks to the request of a customer I remembered that I wanted to show you the absolutely yet. This sweater is also a cozy model with room to move and is knitted top down. For the yarn we would suggest Cusi and Piura from LAMANA. Some of you may know the combo from the cardigan in our basics book. We recommend brushing brushed yarns like Cusi back into shape after wearing them for a while. It works great with this little helper from Prym.

Beautiful back view

If the hoodies are too cozy for you, you should definitely check out this sweater/cardigan: Lusen Is a design that you can wear with the button front (as a cardigan) or with the button back (as a sweater). The pattern are in English, but maybe one or two of you will dare!

A pretty back...
Photo: © Berangere Cailliau

Lusen is knitted seamlessly top down in rows. The sizes range from XS to 3XL - so a really wide range. Pretty detail is the delicate lacemuster on the sleeves.

Now finally reveal the garnkombi!

Yes yes, come on! Here we have chosen something fine for you: You can - if you want to stay closer to the original yarn - go for the combination Cusi and Piura. Oooor - and I find this combo particularly appealing - choose Koan and Lunar from Shibui. The linen and silk content of the yarns will make your cardigan/sweater even more spring-like.

If you're still looking for a last-minute souvenir...

Discovered by Sibel and found to be absolutely magical!

...will of course also find with us! Whereby that is not quite true. All three little things shown in the picture I have namely discovered in Sibel's Instagramfeed and was blown away. So beautiful! And above all quickly knitted and therefore ideal for all who are still looking for a little something for Easter (memo to ourselves: Due to the current situation, maybe still allow time for shipping to our loved ones. But we already know that from Christmas and are prepared accordingly! *irony out*).

So you could knit the cute socks according to a tutorial by Tanja Steinbach. You can get the pattern for free via her blog and as yarn you can take the crown yarns from Regia.

The little scarves Sweet Li'l Scarfette can be knitted with mohair scraps like Kidsilk Haze from Rowan (two-ply!). It's important that your yarn is very soft and doesn't scratch your neck. By the way, the pattern are also free. And perfect for scraps are also the pretty Scrunchies Augustins no. 2 by Anne-Sophie Velling. Here, too, is knitted two-thread.

Pssst...net whisper!

There's always something going on in our little knitting community. At Maschenfein anyway. Maybe you've already seen it on Instagram: We have a new member in our team! Arlene is taking care of our site since this week and helps us with the small and big construction sites that such a homepage brings with it. We are just so happy that she is here!

Arlene, by the way, is a dachshund owner. And we at Maschenfein like animals (sheep especially). But we also have a big heart for truffle pigs. And maybe one or the other good sleuth has already discovered something with a view to a certain day in May... Tüdelüüüü. And tomorrow morning you should also definitely update the Maschenfein podcast Just one more row. Because there's a new episode coming! This has exceptionally less to do with knitting, but is still incredibly exciting!

Our podcast will also help you pass the time until the eagerly anticipated book 52 Weeks of Shawls by Laine comes out. You can now pre-order the book from us - it will then be delivered from April 30, the release date of the book, which bundles many great shawl and scarf designs. Just note that everything you buy together with the book will also be shipped after April 30.

Maschenfein knitting round

All of you who are part of #teamblau should be especially happy about the following knitting projects: Sandra is busy knitting her Robin Sweater. And yes, the rounds are darn long. But it's worth it! Especially with the great yarn combination of Puno Winikunka from Pascuali and Sensai from ITO. Ina is also knitting a design by Paula_m. The Jules Sweater - here in the original version made of Ica by LAMANA - will be a super companion for spring. I just know it!

PHOTOS VIA INSTAGRAM: © instagram.com/anjas.knitwork / instagram.com/hokulani0206

And then I discovered a hoodie in the #maschenfeinstrickrunde. Anja knits TheCozyHoodie and I can understand everyone who is itching to knit it now... And finally I have a picture for all #teamrosa members (including me 😉 ): Silke knits the Kylerby Isabell Kraemer from Como and Premia from LAMANA. Such a great combo, too. And perfect for this shawl!

For now, we wish you a wonderful weekend. With lots of knitting time and few Corona blues. And remember: We won't meet again for Saturday coffee for another four weeks. But don't worry. A big blog post is definitely still planned! And we can't sit still at Maschenfein anyway... 😉 See you very soon!

A wonderful good morning to your Saturday coffee! The weeks fly by just like that. Sometimes I can't even keep up with them. What is the date today? Never mind, I say to myself. Just any day in the pandemic. What does matter is to provide you with knitting ideas and webtalk! I'll say right away that our net talk is nowhere near the palace whispering of the British. And that's no longer whispering either, but that's another story.

Today it's all about inspiration again, about beautiful sweaters, great patterns, small - knitted in no time - projects that might end up in one or the other Easter basket. Are you ready? Then get your coffee, or maybe Earl Grey, and we'll get off to a royal start this weekend. Maybe still in pajamas and not in a tweed blazer, but one must be allowed to let all fives be straight.

The Queen likes it

So maybe. The dress code at Buckingham Palace is rather, shall we say, classic. But because of the events, designs from the British yarn manufacturer Rowan simply had to go in here today.

Cardigan Cringle

Two weeks ago I had shown you the sweater Lohman by Julie Hoover. A great piece! But the pattern are only available in English (and Norwegian, I just wanted to mention). If you are looking for an alternative, you could have a look at the Sweater Howe by Sir Martin Storey. Little fun. So the one with the "Sir". The model, however, is already worth a look.

Knitting is done in single pieces from the bottom up. But savvy knitters may simply work the sweater seamlessly. But since the sleeves are obviously knitted directly on, the sewing work is kept within limits anyway. The yarn is Moordale, which combines British wool and alpaca perfectly, but you could also use Alpaca Classic from Rowan, which comes without wool and has a cotton content instead. Very nice, indeed!

Search now British country house with small rose garden

Perfect for the British country style including a possible aristocratic title fits the cardigan Cringe. With it you could casually yet stylishly admire the roses in your garden, while you still tip a sip of milk into the tee. It is also knitted in single pieces and from the bottom up. Bottom-up and you have to imagine me saying it in perfect British English and looking a bit like Mr. Bean (who, by the way, is called Rowan Atkinson in real life and that's a sign!).

Rowan (the manufacturer) also suggests Moordale as the yarn here. But you can also go for Felted Tweed, which has a great color selection - which is only an advantage for this jacket. Either way: The Queen would be amused! At least as long as you don't do an exclusive interview with Oprah and spill the royal beans....

Classic patterns...

Let's stay with classic designs for a bit. Or rather, classic patterns. The sweater Atrium by designer Bernice Lim from Singapore combines a classic pattern with a modern, light cut. By the way - and this was really not intended when choosing this design - Singapore as a former British colony belongs to the Commonwealth of Nations today. I'm telling you, today we're doing Saturday coffee with history lessons here, ladies and gentlemen!

Sophisticated, but very chic: The sweater AtriumPhoto

...meet modern design

The sweater is knitted seamlessly top down and is certainly something for advanced knitters. The pattern include three different sleeve variations: sleeveless, short sleeves and sleeves to the elbow. You'll also find photos and videos that better illustrate each step.

And what are you knitting with here?

For yarn, we would recommend Shimo from ITO or the Merino Twist Solids from Cowgirl Blues. Shio is made from recycled silk and lambswool and has a rather muted color palette. The merino yarn from Cowgirl Blues is more colorful. So you have the full selection.

Or would you prefer a scarf?

A little easier than the sweater is certainly the scarf Wholecloth from the current Pom Pom Magazine. The pattern are also in English, but the pattern remains the same all the time except for the increases.

Wholecloth: A beautiful triangle scarf...

...and perfect for spring!

I have a soft spot for the British Pom Pom magazines (Great Britain again! And again no intention!). I really like the colorful and gaudy nature of the magazines, even though I would probably go for more muted colors when knitting myself. For the Wholecloth shawl, for example, we would recommend Island Blend from Rowan. If you want to break through the English flair here today, you could also knit Lunar by Shibui or Milano by LAMANA - both doubled. By the way, for the price of the pattern you get allinstructionsttern of the magazine as a digital version.

In our knitting kits you will now also find brand new SANDNES knitting kits - all laid out to match the new issue "Mykt til dame" (2102). There are timeless designs in yarns like Sunday, Børstet Alpaka or Kos. We are gradually adding all the designs as knitting kits.

Easter gift wanted?

If you are still looking for a small gift for Easter, you could knit - besides our bunny Mümmel - for example the Easypeasy Bandana from Paula_m.

Pretty and quickly knitted: the Easypeasy Bandana.

The shawl is absolutely suitable for beginners and knitted quickly. Start at the right tip, from where you work with increases until the shawl is wide enough. From there you decrease again until you reach the left tip. You only need two balls of Como and one ball of Premia. With a final weight of 75 grams, the Easypeasy Bandana is a light companion for spring days and will certainly look great in your Easter nest. By the way, the tutorial is free!

Net talk with Oprah Sophia

Let's move on to net talk. It's like reading Bunte, only better! For example, we have more and more tutorials from other designers directly in the store. In addition to ChrisBerlin, you can now also buy the tutorials from Rosa P. and Lotilda directly from us. For all of you who don't like to use Ravelry, this is a great alternative! And the tutorials from our second shawl book will be added bit by bit, so you can buy them separately. So we make something good out of the bad luck that the book is no longer published!

And did you know that our podcast Only one more series had a birthday yesterday? We almost forgot, but a follower made us aware of it. Fitting for the anniversary, there was also directly a new episode. The guest was Julia from Lia Lykke. I find the conversation so wonderful! It just puts you in a good mood. And we finally learn how to pronounce "Midnatssol". Namely quite differently! And we've already recorded the next podcast episode. Look forward to it! For once it will not be directly about knitting...

Maschenfein knitting round

Photos via Instaram: © instagram.com/woolnatic / instagram.com/lavandula_1

Our Instagram roundup is always about knitting, of course. Judith, for example, has pinned the No Frills Sweater from PetiteKnit, even though the last project isn't finished yet. If anyone can understand that, it's me! Sometimes it just itches too much in the fingers to start something new. And at Lavandula_1, the beginning of the Mapala Sweater in the mohair version of Rosa P. is done. In pink! Fits just perfectly.

PHOTOS VIA INSTARAM: © instagram.com/munichstitches / instagram.com/salibabaga

Birgit got infected and is now knitting the Bubble Sweater by Stephen West. Although it doesn't look like it, you only knit with one color per row. And as for the possibility of color combos, you really have all the options here. Finally, at Salibabaga the Arwen sweater by Isabell Kraemer is finished. Knitted from Puno Winikunka by Pascuali, it is certainly a wonderful piece for spring!

So, that's it for today from me as a nobility and knitting round correspondent (if it had not worked out with Maschenfein, I would have gone to ZDF Royal). Next week I'll continue with knitting ideas and net talk. But for now it's the weekend. We wish you relaxing days and lots of fun knitting!

Hand on heart: Are you disciplined knitters who work only on one project and only after completion the next strike? Or are you like me others (no idea who!), who also like to have a second and third project on the needles? Of course you don't have to tell (but you may!). But if one or the other is looking for a little variety (on the needles!): Welcome to the Saturday Coffee with small and big knitting ideas for new projects, with net talk and a little walk through our Maschenfein knitting round.

Two in One Guide

There is never such a thing as the perfect solution. Not even when it comes to pattern. But some of them come quite close to an all-round carefree package: For example the one Thea Top by Susanne Müller.

Susanne has transformed The Top...
Photos: © Susanne Müller
...out came the Thea Vest!

This is what she released late last summer. This week came the (free) update to it: With a few modifications and the new Como and Premia yarn combo from LAMANA, you can easily knit yourself a pretty sweater. The Thea Vest is a great in-between seasons project. You can easily make it before spring really gets going. And even if it gets warmer then: Mette from PetiteKnit, for example, regularly shows that such a slipover does not have to be styled winterly at all. By the way, sweaters and tops are knitted in one piece top down.

If you would prefer something with sleeves, you could knit the Featherweight Cardigan by Hannah Fettig. It might be the right piece to carry you into spring with its three-quarter sleeves and shortened cut. The pattern for the top-down model are also available in German. As yarn we would suggest the Balayage from Pascuali. We're waiting on a few colors right now, but a sunny orange or even the bright yellow-green Piura would be there. The muted blue-gray tones I also find great.

But rather something small?

Perfect as a second, third or (yikes!) fourth project are socks. They can be very simple, plain knitted designs or ones with delicate patterns. I admit it: I love to look at beautiful socks. Preferably the ones from 52 Weeks of Socks from Laine.

Socks Heather©
Laine Magazine

But also in the magazines there is usually always a sock model. In issue no. 3, for example, it was the design Anouk (the pattern are also available separately). In issue no. 8 you can find Heather. I don't know if I would ever manage to knit such socks - but aren't they just beautiful? If you prefer to follow a German tutorial for patterns like these, you might want to check out Miamare from Schachenmayr. The yarn used here is the Krönchengarn Premium Cashmere, which you can also use for the other two designs mentioned. I would also find Premium Silk just as noble. Now that I write it like this: Maybe I should finally knit some socks with LACE pattern!

At our knitting kits you will find now also very fresh the packages to the current free patterns from SANDNES. The first is the Blomsterjakke, which is knitted from Duo by SANDNES. As a second design you will find the Sweater Frescoknitted in two strands from Duo and Tynn Merinoull (also SANDNES). Children's designs are also super projects that you can cast on the side. In this case, the only restriction is that you can not leave them too long, because children are known to grow quite quickly. #fromtested

...or a scarf?

The Yamagata scarf is knitted stockinette stitch.
Photo: © ITO

If that's too daring for you, you could reach for the Yamagata scarf from ITO. The model is easy to knit and is made from Awayuki, a fluffy yarn that consists of 80 percent mohair and 20 percent silk. You can either choose your own colors or use a ready-made kit.

Pssst....! Net whisper!

And even if traveling is still one thing... knitting in company is simply fun. An alternative to analog knitting meetings is a virtual knitalong. Our Jule is organizing a TeeKAL with her knitting group. In the last blogpost On the needles I already told you what it's all about: drinking tee and knitting T-shirts. Lotilda is also organizing a Knitalong to coincide with the start of spring. The cardigan Jona will be knitted, starting on March 22.

The Jona Cardigan is a beautiful oversize model!
Photos: © Tanja Koenigs

For the Knitalong we offer you two knitting kits: In this one, for all you mohair lovers, you'll find Tynn Silk Mohair by SANDNES. And in this knitting kit we have put the Midnatssol by CaMaRose - a perfect alternative for all who like fleece but don't want to knit or wear mohair. Knitting is four-thread in both cases. All info about the Knitalong, where Tanja will also provide you with step-by-step photos, can be found for example in this Instagram post.

Maschenfein knitting round

If we now set off on our little virtual walk through our Maschenfein knitting round, you could fill up your coffee and tee cups again. For example, the pretty mugs by Minuk from Hamburg, which are now also available for purchase. The drawings are very typical for Antje and her small label and simply make a good mood.

I always get in a good mood when I see your knitting pictures. So many different designs - crazy! Katrin, for example, is busy knitting her Hokei Scarf from ITO and Anna shows you a great Lacetuch, knitted from Merida by LAMANA.

Stephanie has finished her Anker's summer shirt - and is thus well prepared for spring. The above mentioned Midnatssol you can find at Larissa - and exactly for the soon starting JonaKAL. Well, who has got the desire now?

I hope you now have some ideas what else you could knit, in case one project is not enough for you... I for one have to knit a sample now. For a, hmm, third project. Anyway! Have a great weekend with lots of knitting time!

February is always a bit mean. Because suddenly it is already over and March begins. So it's time for a new issue of On the needles. Because knitting we do fortunately all year round.

Only so quite decide whether it should be now still wintery-cuddly or already spring-like-light, we can not. Even if the warm days are very tempting, it is still quite cold in the morning and evening. And the next few days should also be rather mixed. Therefore, you will find here today a colorful mix of knitting inspiration from the Maschenfein team! So that you get a suitable idea for every mood.

Fleece at Sandra, silk at Jule

For example, Sandra has longer thought about what it should be, the next project. The decision was then made about the yarn: On the desk was still a nice pile Sensai from ITO.

Sandra knits the Robin Sweater by Paula_mPhoto
: © Sandra Groll

From then on it was clear: It will be fluffy again. The only condition: Puno Winikunka, the colorful extension of Pascuali's Puno yarn, which was previously only available in natural shades, should also be in it.

A sweater always fits

Sandra has finally decided for the Robin Sweater from Paula_m. In our knitting kit you'll find the Sunday from SANDNES, which is knitted here in double yarn. But as you can see: If it should be fleece, Sensai and Puno Winikunka are a great alternative.

Jule is currently organizing a little knitalong with her knitting group: the so-called TeeKAL. Everyone is invited, of course. What's it all about? Drinking tee and knitting t-shirts, of course! 😉 Jule has chosen the Cumulus Tee from PetiteKnit. She's knitting with Pascuali's Pinta, a beautiful four skein yarn made of merino, silk and ramie. The light sheen of the silk is perfect for a summer shirt, I think. You also want to join the Knitalong? No problem: Here you can find suitable knitting kits. And you surely have tee at home!

Cashmere and linen

There is also a certain contrast in the rest of the team. It's just not easy to decide on a project in this weather.

...and Tynn Line with Sophia.

Marisa continues to knit her freestyle loop in cashmere 6/28 from Pascuali. It just always works and the next winter will come for sure. And such a mindless knitting project does not hurt at all, especially in times like these - on the contrary! I myself am knitting rather summery on the way. Considering the weather forecast, that might have been a bit brave, but on the other hand it's a dress - namely the dress Lotta from the fifth Laine magazine. So I still have a little piece ahead of me and since knitting time is a bit scarce at the moment, hopefully it will be finished when the temperatures are really stable spring-like then. It will be knitted with Tynn Line from SANDNES. And when the sky is gray, I just get the color in the apartment, goes wonderfully with my color choice: Pink!

I feel like a little crocus at the moment. I'm very, very carefully sticking my little head out of the ground. A bit disheveled. Not quite awake yet. "Spring, is that you?", I ask. I am not sure. One should not praise the mild temperatures before the last late frost (farmer's wisdom I know...). But so be it. I'm craving color, light yarns, short sleeves, and sunshine! So welcome to a spring-like Saturday coffee with high vitamin D content, with easy knitting ideas and good-humored net talk.

Delicate pattern

Ever since the magazine came out, I've been sneaking around the shirt by Flower Buds by Astrid Troland. It was published in May 2019 in the eighth Laine Magazine. In the meantime, however, the pattern are also available individually on Ravelry.

Shirt with delicate pattern: Flower BudsPhoto
: © Laine Magazine

No downfall: knitting in pieces

The shirt is knitted in two parts, so at the end there is a bit of sewing work waiting for you. For knitted designs without sleeves, however, I think this can be tolerated. Suitable would be for example the mattress stitch, which we explain in our basics book Stitch by stitch explain. With this type of sewing, the edge stitches disappear on the back of the knitted piece. The result is an almost invisible seam.

But now to the most important thing - the yarn! We would advise you to use the LAMANA combination Piura and Milano. The color palette ensures that you can go for both soft and bold colors, depending on your taste. Or how about combining two colors for a delicate melange effect?

Spring love

Regular shock I had fallen in love while looking for designs for this Saturday coffee in Chabot by Alma Bali. The French architect designed a beautiful sweater with batwing sleeves. The tight sleeves are an interesting contrast to the loosely cut sweater. The V-neckline and the delicate pattern in the middle provide the necessary lightness. So? Did you fall in love too?

Yarn-wise, we landed on the Merino Twist Solids from Cowgirl Blues. The pure virgin wool yarn has a silky shimmer thanks to the superwash treatment and so many great colors to offer that it's almost hard to decide. Almost. I spontaneously settle on Ruby Grapefruit. I told you at the beginning that I was craving color! Take that, winter and coronablues!

Well equipped for warmer temperatures

Who would like to orient itself knitting-technically still more correctly early summer (besides, one must plan also time for knitting), becomes in any case with Isabell Kraemer fündig.

A bit older, but timelessly beautiful, is the sweater ...a hint of summer. Stripes, loose cut, 3/4 sleeves, top-down, deep shoulders... I like such cuts very, very much! For the yarn, we suggest either Kinu by ITO or - if you prefer a vegan version - Nepal by Pascuali. Both yarns are wonderful for summer. Silk, for example, develops a cooling property when it gets really warm. The same goes for Nepal, which is made of cotton, linen and nettle. Hach, you know that feeling of wanting to stroke yarn? I have it really bad right now when I write about Kinu and Nepal.

The shirt Edie is knitted from Sparrow by Quince & Co. and also top down. The pattern is simple, but pretty - and also has a very practical function: Sparrow is a pure linen yarn. The stripes prevent too much tension. In general, you should not be irritated when knitting pure linen yarns. Sparrow grips tightly, but becomes wonderfully soft, light and airy after washing and tensioning, and also through wearing. And as mentioned above: linen unfolds its cooling effect in warm temperatures, making it the perfect companion for summer.

Maschenfein you spell T-Ü-C-H-E-R-L-I-E-B-E

...and vice versa! Cloths just always go. Very fresh on the market in the homeschooling influenced Variablending from Kerstin. Her son went through equations with several variables in math. So math also has positive sides. I always have to convince a bit ... 😉 But the cloth with lifting stitch definition is definitely a good argument. The pattern are designed to change the pattern after every 20 cm. As yarn we recommend you the combination of Premia and Piura from LAMANA. Do you already see the combination pink and curry, like me? Or maybe jeans and silk gray? You will find it - guaranteed!

Already as a knitting kit we have for you Noora from Rosa P. Equipped with our hand cream yarn Cashmere 6/28 from Pascuali. The shawl is knitted from the left tip to the right edge with increases on the right and decreases on the left. It is knit in the main garter stitch and has a ruffle facing that is worked with turn-ups. So if you like it playful, you will be happy with Noora!

You will also be happy with our fine collection of accessory bags, which we have designed in collaboration with Franziska Klee. Until the end of February you can order the bags, which will be handmade for you.

If you want to learn more about Franzi, her story and our collaboration, I highly recommend our latest podcast episode. I just love listening to other creative people talk about their passion and career - and I'm sure you'll find it exciting too!

You can also get another look behind the scenes of the label Franziska Klee in our video, which Marisa recently recorded with Franzi. On Instagram, the Leipzig native took us live into her studio and told us more about her work. I warn you though: In the end, you might end up buying a bag from her. At least that's what happened to three of the four Maschenfein employees. The fourth will probably fall over soon, too. So if you want to take the risk: You can find the video here.

We are looking for you!

Well, and then... Then we are looking for reinforcement for our team! To develop our website further, we need support. Maybe it's one of you? Or someone you know? Feel free to tell others about our search! You can find the complete job ad here.

Maschenfein knitting round

It's getting cozy again in our maschenfein knitting round on Instagram. At Melanie 's you can see the Erikka Slipover by Rosa P. from the Snefnug by CaMaRose. By the way, supplies are on the way! You have us there pretty emptied. 😉 And with Mareike you can admire the finished Coat for Roxane from Kathrin Schneider. Knitted from Bergamo by LAMANA and just beautiful. And a dog is on the photo. A dog!!11!1

You won't find a dog, but you will find two Osakas at Franziska 's and at Silke's. You know the old knitting law, passed down from generation to generation, that every knitter needs an Osaka? Don't you? Then hop, hop, choose your colors! I'm knitting myself another one this year, too. Is namely the perfect project for the year 😉.

But now we wish you a nice, quiet, sunny weekend. With lots of knitting time of course!

My grandma would say, "Who would have thought!" She's right. Who would have thought we'd have another winter like this? I didn't. And all of a sudden, here we were, sitting in snow like so many of you, and freezing temperatures. So welcome to a slightly snowy Saturday coffee, with warming knitting ideas, a new yarn, beautiful bags, and fishnet whispers.

New at Maschenfein: Midnatssol

Maybe someone of you knows this "must-have-feeling". With wool. So quite possibly someone of you. Marisa, for example, is affected by it. Recently it happened again when she discovered the yarn Midnatssol by CaMaRose from Denmark. "Should we add this to the store?" she asked. But basically, it was already included there.

Midnatssol also has a beautiful color palettePhoto

And so the yarn is now already waiting for you in the store. A few (more) have already discovered and ordered it. Midnatssol consists of 54% alpaca, 36% Tencel and 10% virgin wool - and is therefore a wonderful alternative for all those who do not want to knit mohair. You can work it individually, multi-threaded or in combination with other yarns (Snefnug!). Either way, it remains a beautiful and warming yarn.

Of course, we have also put together a few knitting kits for you directly, in which the new yarn is. So we facilitate the start of a new knitter-yarn relationship.

New design from Camilla Vad

A design that you can knit very well with Midnatssol is the Sweater Magnolia Bloom by Camilla Vad. The sweater has as a pattern - as the name suggests - magnolias; now probably a trademark of the Danish designer. The beautiful flowers adorn several of her designs and there is hardly anything more beautiful than a row of blooming magnolia trees in the spring (As much as I love snow - I'm also looking forward to warmer days again!).

The sweater is knitted multi-threaded. Sandra has knitted several stitch samples directly, so we can advise you well. For this sweater we recommend the following combination: one yarn Snefnug together with one yarn Midnatssol. The gauge of the Magnolia Bloom Sweater is 12 stitches per 10 cm - so you'll see results quickly when knitting.

In my search for more designs for this yarn, I naturally got stuck with the maker herself: Trine Bertelsen is the head and heart behind CaMaRose. The name of her company, by the way, is made up of the first names of her three children: Carl-Emil, Mathilde and Anna-Rose. In the production of her yarns, Trine makes sure that both ethical and ecological standards apply and are adhered to. For example, the merino fibers used in Midnatssol are free of mulesing.

With Midnatssol you can knit among other things the children's cardigan Mini Dreamy Cardigan cardigan. For this you hold the yarn three times. For a nice melange effect, you can choose three different colors or stick to the plain version. In any case, knit top down. The sizes range from six months to three years.

The Smock Sweater is also a top-down model with a pretty pattern on the yoke. The sleeves are cut wider and end with a tight cuff. The construction allows you to easily adjust the length of the sleeves and torso. Matching collar is also available Turtleneck with smock my size. For this you knit Midnatssol double. Especially now with the icy temperatures, the shawl collar is a great addition to the winter coat.

Do you already know the Snefnug?

...little joke! Of course you already know the Snefnug. If not, here comes another design - the one from Erikka Slipover by Rosa P. Of course already created as a knitting kit for you.

Erikka Slipover
...knitted from snefnug...
Erikka Slipover
...it's a quick project for the last (?) winter weeks of the season.

The Erikka slipover, which Rike wrote a very funny introduction to on Instagram, is knit seamlessly top down. First the slipover is worked in rows, the shoulders are shaped with short rows. Then the body is knitted in rounds. The front and back are then divided and worked separately in rows.

The Erikka Slipover can be knitted in three lengths and with two neckline variations. In the knitting kit you will find the quantity for the long version with neckline. In the shopping cart you can easily adjust the amount of yarn.

Rather something small?

Who would rather knit a small project for the cold temperatures, could reach for a headband or a cap. A few weeks ago I have already presented quite a few designs. Today, two more are added.

Very fresh at our knitting kits is the Mika Hood from Paula_m. Thanks to heavy needles you can make the hood with a small shawl collar in no time. It is worked top down and completely stockinette stitch with rolled edge. In the knitting kit you will find the Kos from SANDNES.

Alternatively you could knit the Woven Cable Headband knit. We would suggest the Bergamo from LAMANA. The pattern are also available in German. So if you ever wanted to try your hand at cable knitting: This is your chance!

Regina Moessmer x LAMANA

I already told you in the newsletter: Designer Regina Moesmmer has created five different designs using yarns from LAMANA. Our favorite of the week in the newsletter was Emmabut just now when I was putting the pictures in our coffee shop I spontaneously fell in love with Matteo (the sweater, honey, the sweater!!). The half brioche sweater with cable stitch is knitted from Milano. It happens to be one of my favorite LAMANA yarns. Have a browse through the different kits. Either click on the pictures above or have a look at all kits with designs by Regina Moessmer.

Back in the store: Bags by Franzi Klee

One of our personal Maschenfein highlights last year - besides all the great yarns and designs - was our cooperation with the Leipzig-based label Franziska Klee. In this blog post I already told you more about Franziska, her philosophy and the cooperation with Maschenfein.

After a first round of orders in November/December, there were always inquiries about when the bags would be available again. Now they are! Until the end of February you can buy the case Mila, needle bag Mara and bag Mona again. Please note the extended shipping time: Only after your order the bag will be handmade in Franziska Klee's studio.

Our first podcast episode in the new year: Knitting with Lainevia

There were also questions about our podcast. When there would be a new episode. There was now - and directly a little firecracker. 🙂 We have spoken with Sini Kramer, co-founder of the famous Laine-Magazine. If you don't know the episode yet - have a listen! Meanwhile we are already working on the next recordings...

By the way, we're always happy when you post a picture on Instagram of your current project while listening to the podcast. Because that's exactly how we imagine it: Something nice to listen to while continuing to cast on the current project. It doesn't get much better than that.

You definitely have enough projects. 😉 Kerstin, for example, is knitting the shawl Elfriede from the sixth Laine Magazine (how fitting!) from Cumbria by The Fibre Company. Kathrin shows you her Kolding from ChrisBerlin. She is knitting with the yarn combo we also have for you in the knitting kit: Lunar and Silk Cloud by Shibui. So beautiful and so classy!

Sandra may recognize one or the other of you, what is there on the needles. There's a cute little design for you soon... And at Hannah 's, the Water shawl is ready to go. She knitted it in the Snefnug version.

So then also closes today's CaMaRose circle 😉 We wish you a wonderful winter weekend, with hopefully lots of sunshine and knitting time!

Welcome to the very first Saturday coffee and net talk on our new site! What an exciting last few weeks we've had. And especially for the last few days. Every time the relaunch was within reach, a hurdle appeared. But we have met every challenge.

So here you can see the new Maschenfein, which we have already shown you bit by bit in the newsletter or on Instagram. But the good old website still remains the heart of our maschenfein world. The anchor, so to speak. And we have polished it properly and made it shine. How do you like it?

Our new site has even made it onto television. Namely in the program zipp of the RBB. Last week, a small team was Marisa's guest and was taken into the world of knitting. By the way, the Oscar for the best supporting actor goes to Sandra's felt slippers, which she sent to Berlin beforehand so that Marisa could show them. Here you can find the contribution.

The "relaxed knitter

And speaking of Oscar and glamour: At our second knitting meeting, Maschenfein was mentioned in the same breath as pop star Robbie Williams. One of the knitters said she was as excited as she had been at a meet & greet with Robbie Williams. That was a kind of accolade for Maschenfein. And a great honor on top of that. And we were at least as happy to see you as the other way around!

Very popular right now: the Snefnug by CaMaRose, shown here with beanie no. 2 by Rosa P.

.

We're also really happy when you tell us what you've been knitting because we recommended it to you. "Now I had to try the Snefnug, too." "Of course, I also knitted a Hinata shawl." "I finally finished my Osaka." Honestly, sentences like that are music to our ears! And that's why, of course, there are designs for inspiration for you again this Saturday Coffee. So that the head cinema comes on and then the needles continue to rattle. Because as one participant put it so well, "Knitting is my yoga." So hop on the mat! We are now doing the "relaxed knitter".

The Snefnug is a must

In yoga, yes, it is important to have warm feet. And I would say that warm ears are also important. Goes great with cap No. 2 of Rosa P. We have created fresh for you in the knitting kits. In it you will find the Snefnug from CaMaRose. This will probably remain one of our favorite yarns in 2021... Although next week something else from the CaMaRose family will move in with us. Look forward to Midnatssol and many great colors!

Winter knitwear from Denmark

Who in view of the weather forecast still has the need for winter knitwear (there fall such terms as "winter onset" or - even worse - "freezing rain"): For him, of course, I also have something! At the Danish designer Mille Fryd Knitwear you will find for example theStay Hot SweaterThe boxy oversize model is knitted stockinette stitch top down. The yarn combination of Cashmere Premium and Lace from Lang Yarns can also be found in our store.

If you want to knit something for children, you will also find something at Mille Fryd: You could for example knit theKiddo SnoodYou can knit the Cashmere Premium from Lang Yarns, too. Let your child choose a color - the selection is big enough! By the way, Lang Yarns published an interview with Mille Fryd Knitwear on YouTube yesterday. In it, she talks about how she got into knitting, where she gets her inspiration from, and what knitting technique she's currently practicing. Just take a look here.

Noble collar for big

A collar for adults is available from Anne Ventzel, among others. The Cable Cowl was also a topic at one of our knitting meetings and is a noble companion for cool days. You can knit different variations, depending on the yarn weight the size of the cowl varies. As possible combinations we could imagine - as with Mille Fryd's sweater - Cashmere Premium and Lace by Lang. Duo and Tynn Silk Mohair would also be possible. You could also vary the collar. Either knit it long enough to double up, or knit it shorter and wear it as a simple stand-up collar. Both are chic!

Anyone looking for a challenge?

For those who feel more like spring, the - admittedly challenging - free tutorial of the month from SANDNES would be something. The flower jacket is a classic Steek project. In other words, you'll have to cut it open at the end. My colleague Jule (who is permanently employed with us since February and takes care of our backend! <3) said the other day that already the sound of the scissors is scary, but it's worth it.

Anyone looking for a knitting challenge: This jacket would be a (nice!
)Photo: © SANDNES

The jacket is knitted in separate pieces: The front and back parts are knitted together (starting from the bottom) and then separately, and the sleeves are knitted separately (they are sewn in at the end). Knitting is done with the Sisu. If you don't like the nylon content, you can use the alternatives mentioned by SANDNES, such as Alpakka Silke or Tynn Merinoull. Just note the sometimes different running lengths.

Spring knit

For a few weeks I have also the SweaterCharles VNeckby Joji Locatelli "on stock" lie. Today I finally show it to you: First of all, the design is a beautiful declaration of love. The sweater is named after Joji's husband. And then it is a wonderful unisex model that suits everyone. It is the perfect everyday companion, knitted from the top down with a V-neck.

When it comes to the yarn, we've thought about something: If you want a summery version, you could double-knit Koan by Shibui or also Sparrow by Quince & Co. each. If you like it fluffy, you can knit Willet from Quince & Co. together with Premia from LAMANA.

Spring fever also comes with the shortened sweater Trascao . This design is also knitted in rounds top down. For the yarn, we suggest Cotton Cashmere from Rowan - or "cotton kisses cashmere and there's a happy ending". Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, so to speak. Choose for yourself which of the two may play cashmere 😉 By the way, the pattern for the sweater are also available in German.

As the last design for today I found these cute dungarees for little robbers. You knit from the bottom up, the legs first individually and then the torso in rounds. As yarn is given the Sunday of SANDNES. Here, too, the color palette is really big and the yarn itself is pleasantly soft.

Fresh in the store

In the store you will also find other new knitting kits, such as the shopper Sher by Pascuali (the booklet for the new collection can be found here), the hat by Minuk or our new addition to the accessories: the sock ruler by Lovafur. Take your time to browse through them!

Maschenfein knitting round

Of course, as always, you can also browse super on Instagram! In our #maschenfeinstrickrunde you can see what the other knitting crazy so on the needles or just finished.

At Claudia, for example, you can see this mad sweater. Actually intended for Christmas 2020, he is "only" finished in January. But not at all bad - we also celebrate Christmas in 2021. Sigrid finished a Kolding (with the yarn alternative Premium Cashmere by Regia) and probably wears it while reading, it's so cozy.

Anja knits the - I think it was last week - featured Ribbed Jumper by Anne Ventzel. Phew, maybe I need one for next winter, too. And at Christin 's you can see a real classic. The Hinata scarf! A must have!

And now we hope you enjoy browsing through the site. Tell us how you like it and also if you notice a mistake or something is missing. Have a nice weekend and have fun looking and knitting!

We've been through this before. So far, 2021 has rather half-heartedly stepped out of the big shoes of its predecessor. But (!): January is now more or less over. So 1/12 is done. Got it done. Rocked! And we? We just don't give up hope. And create little islands of happiness for ourselves. Right now. So, grab a coffee and then it's back to: A wonderful good morning to Saturday coffee. With knitting ideas and webtalk. And the bush radio is beating the drum, I tell you! Because there is news from the "our-new-page-goes-online" front!

But first we start with the necessary inspiration: Who wants to knit with regard to the advanced time no more heavy winter sweaters, for the perhaps slipovers, pardon, would be something! Yes, I know. They are (almost) in the same league as slipovers. But I personally like them very much. And if it's just shivering times, you just quickly pull a slipover over and it's warmer again.

From PetiteKnit there are two more designs: The September Slipover complements the cardigan and sweater of the same name. I really like the brioche pattern - knitted from Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair by SANDNES. The beginning, namely the upper back, is knitted in rows first. Then the shoulders follow, and then everything is closed to form the round. And think of me as a knitting nerd, but I find increases in the brioche just extremely pretty to look at!

The Zipper Slipover is also knitted from the top down. The high collar, which is closed with a zipper, protects you from cold winds and is knitted in a rib pattern and then folded over. So it becomes really stable and cozy. As yarn Mette suggests Alpakka Ull and Tynn Silk Mohair from SANDNES.

New design from ITO

On Instagram the other day - as so often - I discovered a new design and wanted to save it for me a bit. Naive as I was, I thought no one else would discover it. There I underestimated on the one hand, of course, the effectiveness of social networks, but especially the many sleuths among you 😉 And promptly appeared the Hokei Scarf a few days later in our Facebook group. Anyway, I thought I would show it to you again.

This design is knitted from Shimo and Sensai from ITO. The base yarn is the wool-silk blend yarn Shimo. Knit smaller squares into the larger squares by combining Shimo and Sensai. Working the two qualities together creates a mottled intarsia effect. In the end, the scarf is over two meters long. And I imagine it would be great as a stole, too.

British country charm at ROWAN

Such a pole would also fit the following scenario: Because when I see the designs of ROWAN, my head always starts spinning. English country house, someone is aristocratic and Inspector Barnaby is also coming over for tee. Around five o'clock, I guess. And usually after a murder.

In the case of the two designs above, I assume that they at least got along without Barnaby and crime. It didn't hurt in any case. The sweater Galbraith reminds of a poncho, can be thrown over easily and is knitted from the bottom up. I especially like the high collar. You're knitting with the Felted Tweed Aran.

The blanket Marram is knitted with the Brushed Fleece and Creative Linen. The different textures of the two yarns used give it a unique texture. The zigzag pattern is worked in several colors using the Fair Isle technique. The blanket is certainly not a project that you can knit up quickly (but who, if not you?!). But maybe it's a nice piece that you can take in your hands again and again over the next months and knit a few rows on it. And in the next winter you will have a warm blanket. By the way: You can find both pattern in ROWAN Magazine 68, which we also have in our store.

Your recommendation: Felix Sweater!

What I also always find great: When I get a tip for a model from you. This happened on Thursday at our first virtual knitting meeting. We talked about the (wonderful) Snefnug by CaMaRose. And suddenly Anja told us, that she knits from the Snefnug the Felix Sweater from Amy Christoffers. And is very enthusiastic about yarn and pattern.

The sweater is knit from the top down and has a shortened look. The great thing about top-down designs: You can easily adjust the length. Just keep in mind that you will need a little more yarn. A little eye-catcher in Felix is the hole pattern on the raglan slopes.

Maschenfein knitting meeting

À propos knitting meeting: Our first virtual knitting meeting was a lot of fun! It was so nice to see at least a part of you "with a face". We are already looking forward to the second round next week and are sure that there will be a sequel at some point. Because sentences like "I belong to the (Maschenfein) family since then" are simply the best medicine against Corona blues. And if someone can say "I knit like a madwoman" that's nothing to worry about, at least in our opinion 😉.

And anyway, we receive such nice messages these days! A customer wrote to us that our book on the basics had Stitch for stitch has finally given her an important insight. Contrary to popular belief, she was not knitting incorrectly, but simply in the English or American way, when she guides the working thread with her right hand. Her teacher had always tried to break her of this habit, but without success. And now she knows that everything is "all right". Is there any nicer feedback on our work? I don't think so.

Maschenfein knitting round

Whereas, a "competitively beautiful feedback" comes to mind: When you knit things that we suggest to you. Of course, it can also be a coincidence or two, but still... Ani, for example, is knitting the Ribbed Jumper by Anne Ventzel from Milano by LAMANA and silk-mohair yarns, including Sensai by ITO. Katrin actually already has the Hokei Scarf on the needles. And there is even a knitalong for it. Have a look here.

At Silvie there is the good mood booster in the form of a cheerful colorful Osaka scarf. I am very fond of the bright colors and notice myself how I long for spring.

Finally, at my colleague Jule 's you can see a slightly modified slouchy hat - namely The simple knit hood by Lia Lykke. You can also wear the hat as a hood. I think it looks great on Jule!

Our baby: the new Maschenfein site

You know what else looks great? The new Maschenfein website, which we are working on every day. It's supposed to go online next week. Matching the TV report of the RBB, which was Marisa's guest on Wednesday. We are so excited! TV report about Maschenfein. Then our new branding. The new site. And your feedback on it! Because we're excited to see if you like the new site as much as we do!

Until then, we still have to turn a few screws. But it's running. And if the nerves flutter too much, we turn a few rounds on the needles. And you? What will you knit next? Tell us in the comments or link us on Facebook and Instagram - we're looking forward to it and hope you have fun knitting!

A look at the weather app bodes ill: nothing good. Something around zero degrees, rain, snow. Sometimes also clear plus degrees. Well, well, well. Better to spend the time knitting. And conjure up garments that will get us through the rest of the winter and into spring. So welcome to a warming Saturday coffee, with a variety of knitting inspiration and some net talk (keyword "knitting meeting"!).

New at Maschenfein: Lia Lykke

Super fresh at it is The fishermans Ribsweater from Lia Lykke. The pattern are available in English and Danish since today and very soon also in German. Because we are so fond of the design, we have already created the knitting kit for you. By the way, you will certainly not get fresh with the sweater. Julia knitted it with Snefnug from CaMaRose. One of our absolute favorite yarns: beautiful colors, very soft and without synthetic fiber. But you can also work with the Kos from SANDNES without any problems.

The sweater is an exciting ribbed sweater in semi-patent. Special increases and decreases create lines that give the sweater its shape. The sweater is rather nothing for beginners, but for this a really great design. And thanks to Snefnug or Kos you can wear it on milder winter days outside without a jacket.

Also perfect for the "in-between seasons" is our cable poncho, which I already showed you in the last newsletter. For the cozy part of Duo and Silk Mohair from SANDNES, two long cable bands are worked at the beginning. Then the two sleeve pieces are knitted. Together with the stitches picked up from the edges of the cable bands and the sleeve stitches, the poncho body is then knitted in stockinette stitch rounds.

We designed the poncho based on a Sandnes design and are more than happy with the result. I'm especially taken with the cable bands and the tight cuffs. Oh, oh - my knitting list! The pattern are - as always with our own designs - also available separately.

Often requested: Designs by Anne Ventzel

At the moment, our support mailbox is receiving a lot of questions about designs by Anne Ventzel. Quite rightly, if you ask me. Anne Ventzel is one of those people I would love to drop by for coffee. The trained designer lives in Denmark and there you can really always stop by for coffee. Gladly over several days, of course.

We already have two designs as knitting kits for you in the store - and of course we want to expand that! One candidate is for example the Ribbed Jumperwhich is also available with German pattern. The soft top-down sweater with a deep raglan cut attracts attention mainly because of the stand-up collar and the interlocked rib pattern. When it comes to the yarn, we can think of several combinations (stitch test is mandatory - don't forget!): Those who like to knit LAMANA could work Modena and Premia together. SANDNES fans can use Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair or Tynn Line and Tynn Silk Mohair. As you can see, there are many possibilities and you can see which material characteristics appeal to you the most.

If it gets a little chilly for you: Make a shawl around! I'm very sure that you are of course clothchnisch covered, but I'm even more sure that you are also interested in knitting more 😉.

I ran across two designs on Ravelry the other day (dialogue was something like, "Helloooo Sophia! We want to go to the Saturday coffee!" Me like this: "Hallöchen, but gladly!"). How about Glückauf by Melanie Berg, for example? If you love natural tones, you'd be happy with Puno by Pascuali (although more colors have been announced!). Alternatively, however, Pinta, also Pascuali. The existing silk content provides a delicate shimmer here. I imagine that for this asymmetrical cloth very suitable and noble!

The second model requires a little initiative. Because the pattern are not reinstructionsttern, but rather a transcript. The Textured Shawl nevertheless pleases me incredibly well. Stockinette stitch knit sections alternating with pattern pieces...yes, yes. That has something! Yarn-wise, we've been pondering a bit - but the Eco Cashmere from Blue Sky Fibers would be great! The yarn is a fine blend of recycled and reclaimed cashmere, sustainably produced, uniquely light spun, and extra luxurious. I'm in such a color frenzy right now (yes, maybe I'm ready for spring) and fell right in love with the "Crushed Coral" color. Three skeins should get you there for the shawl.

January free guide

Photo: © SANDNES

In our knitting kits you will of course also find lots of kids' stuff, including this cute sweater with lace pattern and ruffled edge. The SANDNES booklet is no longer available, but the pattern are free this month. You can simply select it in the knitting kit and download it after purchase. The yarn used is Alpakka Silke (70% baby alpaca, 30% mulberry silk) from SANDNES.

Fancy an online knitting meetup?

On Instagram we have already told you at the beginning of the year: We are in the mood for knitting meetings! And really! But unfortunately, our maschenfein knitting rounds can only take place virtually at the moment. But we make the best of it and have thought about our annual planning that we would like to meet with you for a "video conference. 🙂 Two dates we have set for now.

Per meeting can participate 15 people. The knitting sessions will take place on January 28 and February 2, both at 8:30 pm. For 90 minutes you can ask us questions and of course tell us about your current projects. So that we can really get into conversation, we keep the groups deliberately small.

Instead of knitting alone, we'll soon be knitting together! At least virtually.

Maschenfein

To ensure that everyone has an equal chance of a place in our video round, please send us an email to stricktreff@maschenfein.de by January 26, 23:59 at the latest. Please mention your preferred date in the subject line so that we can filter the messages more quickly. If more than 15 people sign up for a meeting, we will decide by lot. We will get back to you on January 27th with an answer and are looking forward to seeing you!

Our shop window

Our maschenfein showcase features the Caramel CardiganPhoto
via Instagram: © instagram.com/livingpaper.rothenburg

Strolling is just such a topic. What goes in any case: a stroll past our maschenfein shop window. For example, Andrea is showing the Caramel Cardigan by Isabell Krämer - knitted from Rakuda by ITO. The cardigan has already arrived in Berlin and Marisa will present it to you soon. And of course there will be a matching knitting kit, too! If you want to have a look already: Here you can find the knitting kit in the Rakuda and Sensai version.

Maschenfein knitting round

A very big knitting meeting is also our Maschenfeinstrickrunde on Instagram. Among other things, the #lamana10kal is currently running there for the 10th LAMANA issue. Anja is knitting sweater No. 8 from Como in a rich blue. And at Sabine 's you can see the Sunday Sweater from PetiteKnit - knitted from...well? Snefnug of course. Check out the project on her Ravelry profile. There she explains how she dealt with the different gauge.

Cloth inspiration and spring lust you get this week with Anke and Verena Mathilde. Anke has finished the shawl Margaretas Mama. She knitted our Christmas shawl 2019 from Milano by LAMANA. And at Verena Math ilde you get ideas how you can still wear your Osaka. What do you mean, you don't have one? That's not possible at all! And I'm allowed to say that, because I chained mine off the days. And I'm actually still thinking about a second one. The color palette of Sensai is so large that the combination possibilities are virtually infinite. I'll keep looking...

...and we wish you now a nice weekend with lots of knitting time!

[Please insert here independently an introductory sentence including Corona reference!] Guys, guys. This pandemic really has stamina (me rather less). That makes it not so easy to say "hello" and at the same time to find a reference to the current situation (especially since it is not very encouraging at the moment). So while I really just want to, well, yell at Corona, these days I look all the more lovingly at my knitting basket. Sometimes also quite longingly. Because time for knitting is rather less in the lockdown everyday life. Still, it's never wrong to think about what you might knit next. That's why: Welcome to the virus-free Saturday coffee, with nice knitting ideas (also for beginners!) and a bit of net talk.

I'm finding January, and probably February, not so easy knitting-wise. Do I want to start another big winter sweater project? At the risk that a pandemic (or even the dull everyday life) interfere and the dream sweater will be finished only in March / April and then can not be worn? Or do I prefer to knit thin shirts and delicate cardigans already, even if the thought of it still makes me shiver? Difficult!

One solution: knit accessories! For example, cozy hats that you have ready in no time and can therefore still safely carry out this winter. If you like cable stitches and maybe you've already worked with a cable needle, hat No. 02 by Rosa P. would be a great model for you. You start at the cuff and work in rounds upwards. If you like, you can top the hat with a pompom or a (fake fur) bobble. Knitted with the Carpe Diem from Lang Yarns.

I also find the Nabo Hat from Woolfolk very chic. At first glance, I thought the hat would be knitted in brioche. But instead it is knitted in two colors in the so-called corrugated rib bing. The special thing about this hardly stretchy ribbing pattern: all stitches knitted right are knitted in one color, all stitches knitted left are knitted in the other color. For the yarn, we would also go for Carpe Diem here.

Sweater for beginners

Again and again we are asked for knitting projects suitable for beginners. By chance (or by destiny) I have found the days a sweater. It is suitable for all who would like to start with the "sweater-and-cardigan knitting", but perhaps do not yet know a suitable model.

One Sweater from The Fibre Co. is a classic top-down model, meaning it is knit from the top down. You'll be working with both short rows and raglan stitches. Please don't be alarmed: This sounds more complicated than it is. What I also find great about this model: You can knit it in many different sizes and vary the length. In addition, it can be worn by both men and women. In addition, The Fibre Co. has also produced videos that supplement the individual steps of the pattern. You can also find video material here, for example on short rows with double stitches (in German, of course ;-)). Just have a look here. By the way, the sweater tutorial is also available in German!

The yarn used by The Fibre Co. is, of course, an in-house quality: Cumbria Is a combination of brown wool from the English sheep breed Brown Masham (30%), American merino wool in superfine quality (60%) and Argentine mohair (10%). Unfortunately, we do not have sufficient stock of all colors at the moment. As an alternative we can imagine Cotton Cashmere from Rowan. Here you also have the advantage that the knit is not as warm as with Cumbria. So you can also wear the sweater wonderfully in the spring.

Fluff alert!

For advanced beginners, the Mapala Sweater by Rosa P. in the mohair edition would be a nice project. The sweater is knit in double yarn with a round yoke top down. The high neck cuff is first cast on provisionally, then folded inward and knit together at the cast-on edge. For the hem cuffs of different lengths, the front and back are divided and finished separately.

I really like these cuffs of different lengths. And the fleece. And the color Rike chose for her model. By the way, I also like the yarn combination we chose for you: double-thread Tynn Silk Mohair from SANDNES. Depending on the gauge, you'll be knitting with about 6 mm needles, so you'll be snappy. The sweater is designed for a chest circumference of 97 to 137 cm. If you are not a fan of mohair, you could knit the original version of the Mapala. In the knitting kit you will find the Valley Tweed by Rowan made of 100% wool.

Shawls always go

Again and again as a project, of course, go cloths. I should know: One is actually always in the project basket. And one I have around my neck. And in the closet...well, you know.

Directly I would love to cast on the stole Aisé II from Espace Tricot. The pattern are in English, but looking at the finished piece, I think it's really easy to master. The yarn combination we would suggest here would be Kinu and Sensai from ITO. Without mohair, Duo from SANDNES would also be possible.

And for all who need a hug in these times again (the little snowman Olaf sends his regards!), would be - absolutely corona-compliant - the scarf hug from Janukke a nice option. A luxurious yarn choice here would be Cashmere Worsted by Pascuali (due to the softness of the yarn, hand cream would be virtually included). Also possible - and cozy - would be a combination of Mini Alpakka and Tynn Silk Mohair as well as Duo and Tynn Silk Mohair (all SANDNES). With the latter, you probably won't quite get there with the gauge, but that should be manageable for a shawl. The pattern consists of right and purl stitches that resemble diamonds. When you knit with mohair, the pattern fades into the background - of course, you should keep that in mind when choosing your yarn.

New in the store and on the blog

Still quite fresh in the store is the great dyeing accessories from ITO. For all those who have not found their color. The rescue a failed project or wanted to batik again. On the blog I have explained to you this week exactly what you need to consider when dyeing with the ITO products. Sandra has tried out the individual steps for you and provides us with detailed step-by-step pattern.

In the store we also have new additions to our books. Namely from Laine from Finland. I tell you, now they are cooking in Tampere! But they also do it well and beautifully illustrated. Laine is the publisher, Pia Alapeteri is the author of Friends in Food. And basically the book is ideal for planning the meal now, when we can finally, finally feast, enjoy and tell in large company again.

You may already know the second book: In Fair Isle Weekend you will find eight unique Fair Isle projects by Mary Jane Mucklestone. The designer gets her ideas and inspiration directly from the island of Fair Isle, which belongs to the Shetland Islands. Last fall I told you more about multicolored knitting - feel free to check back! And I'm getting such an incredible wanderlust right now. Man, Corona, go away!

Maschenfein knitting round

Of course, Corona does not. So I console myself with your beautiful pictures from our knitting fine round.

Melanie has a new project and a bit of spring coming in - that sounds like a perfect combination! Which project she knits, you can find out in her latest post! And Simone has the cardigan Mariechen by Isabell Krämer in Premium Silk by Regia on the needles. In a very, very beautiful color, I think.

Of course you can always find shawls in our knitting round. At Danny 's for example the Water cloth from the Snefnug. And then I was happy about another Loop Encadré happy about. Francesca knitted her version from the Milano by LAMANA. Turned out great, didn't it?

We wish you now a nice weekend with more coffee and especially a lot of knitting time!
