{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}
A wonderful good morning to the Saturday coffee! Great events cast their shadows ahead! Today I'm back with beautiful knitting ideas for spring and summer, a new magazine from Laine, yarn gain at Pascuali, and we take a look at our Mother's Day Knit-Along, which (officially) ends this weekend. Ah, and on an island in northwestern Europe, a 74-year-old is crowned king - just to have mentioned it here.
Spring on the needles
Now, the designs I'm showing you today probably don't meet the Royal Family 's protocol. This doesn't mean that you'll be walking around half naked, but rather that the family in question is quite conservative when it comes to dress codes.
However, I assume that very few of you will be present live, but will watch the event - how unique it may be, remains to be seen - in front of the TV. And there you can look as you like.
Knitting for summer
I will, although I can certainly take something from royal coverage (sometimes I find a certain triviality simply beneficial), probably follow the event - if at all - a little online. What is, however, absolutely firmly planned: swatching for the June Top by PetiteKnit. Because that, dear ladies (and lords), is going to be my new project. So in addition to the other new projects I'm planning. ahem. ..
Because the thing is, there's no getting around Melange this year. Yes, you can continue to drink your coffee black. But maybe you want to step out of your comfort zone knitting-wise and mix colors on the needles instead. The bottom-up top (knit from the bottom up, though adjustments are possible) is a great way to start, in case you missed knitting the Melange Sweater from PetiteKnit in time, like I did.
Twice pure silk, please
For the color mix of the top, knit two strands of Pure Silk from Knitting for Olive together. For the other conditions of the Danish yarn manufacturer, the color palette is kept rather small, but in my eyes quite sufficient. Except for the (unfortunately currently sold out) color Cream, we have everything in stock and you can either choose two similar colors for a soft mix or mix two completely different shades. Just please make sure when washing afterwards that you don't let the sink out of your sight. Strong colors tend to bleed. So change the water in between and use a dirt trap cloth (available at the drugstore) if possible.

Rather solid?
Okay, okay. I know: color mixes are not to everyone's taste. So if you prefer to go monochrome, but maybe still colorful - how about Baigneuses by Emilie Luis?
The design of the Frenchwoman (patterns are also available in German) you knit top down. Jule and I have chosen the knitting kit for Luxor Mercerised Cotton from BC Yarn. Perhaps we were already simply subconsciously aware that it may well glitter and shimmer a little this weekend.
The pure cotton yarn has a soft shimmer due to the mercerizing process and, in our opinion, fits perfectly into the summer (and the after-show party with Katy Perry at the Coronation of King Charles). If you don't want the chemical process or miss Elton John there, you can also reach for Pinta by Pascuali. Here, the silk content provides a natural shine (and these words inevitably make me think of old shampoo commercials. And of the hair of the Princess of Wales).

Ruffles, I see ruffles!
But it is rather the Duchess of Sussex that I see with casual tops, which have a certain elegance. Right up there with me is currently the Mellow Tee from wieseknit. The shirt, which we have put up for you with the organic balance of BC Yarn, is kept rather simple - eye-catchers here are clearly the sleeves, which are one big ruffle. Well, what can I say, except: Delightful!
Of course you can also knit ruffles for the little ones. For example, with Alma's Ruffle Suit for the very young (again, glitz and glamour thanks to Alpakka Silke by Sandnes) or the Caspar Blouse from kolibri by Johanna (double cusi make it a mohair-free fluffy dream for the one to 13 year olds).
Also a Lamana yarn - and now once long sleeves - are used in the sweater Chaton by Emilie Luis. This pattern is also available in German, so I had to take it along to the royal cuppa. Because even if France has nothing at all to do with the monarchy - they simply can "chic".
The design, which is knitted from the bottom up with a fine lace pattern, we have put up for you with Cosma . And here again: a delicate sheen. I just can not help it this weekend!
Jewels please in the pockets
What must not be missing from a perfect (coronation) outfit is a small handbag. God, I can already see it in front of me, the Gala special edition with the corresponding photo spread!
So if you want to be prepared for the next Coronation (for your notebook: this is then Prince William aka Prince of Wales) and still need something small, fine for the summer: At Maschenfein there are of course the matching knitting and crochet kits. Because of the golden yellow color, the clutch Lunti immediately caught my eye while browsing, crocheted from Sole and Manada by Pascuali.
My son, on the other hand, who has an unerring flair for colorful things of all kinds, spontaneously decided on the Pebble Bag while leafing through the Sandnes summer magazine for children. Because, "Mom, I can put all my treasures in there!" I had actually planned the shorts contained there, but who am I to deny the crown prince a wish (little joke, he is the firstborn, but there is rather nothing to inherit with us).

New, new, new
So while King Charles now bows his head so that someone (who actually does that?!) puts the crown on him (raise your hand if you don't murmur to the person sitting next to you in all ambiguity "That's just the crowning glory" - hahaha) and the Commonwealth thus officially has a new head, we also have some great fresh knitting kits and other new products - oh yes, Madam!
Reading tips
First of all, there is a brand new magazine from Laine with eleven designs that all follow the motto "Here comes the Sun". Feel free to take a look at them already on Ravelry, and we'll gradually post the matching knitting kits for you. My favorites: The title model Wave by Thea Vesterby and these socks here with ice cream cones. Because: I really, really like ice cream. I'm sure I'll knit socks then, too. For sure.
Who wants to browse further, please this way: It is both the new blogpost to On the needles online and a fresh inspiration around colorful knitting. So that we never run out of knitting inspiration! Because Charles may want to slim down the monarchy, but we certainly don't want fewer ideas for new projects on our needles!
As far as knitting ideas for fall and winter go, you can definitely count on Camel DK from Pascuali to play a role. The yarn runs 80 meters on 25 grams and is made from 100 percent camel hair, sourced from the undercoat of the legendary two-humped Bactrian camels found in the Alashan region of Inner Mongolia. They are also called the ships of the desert - because they can cope with heat and lack of water. At the same time, their undercoat allows them to regulate temperature well.
Camel DK is a warp yarn, so it is exceptionally light and stretchy. Garments knitted from it allow the body to move freely, but return to their original shape, making them wrinkle-resistant and tight. Sandra has already knitted a first swatch. Her preliminary conclusion: nice drape, grippy, but still soft. Pascuali specifies a needle size of 4 to 4.5 mm. With needle 3.5, we get 20 stitches per 10 cm.

One more week, then it's Mother's Day!
Because we are very service-oriented at Maschenfein, at this point the important note: Next week Sunday is Mother's Day! This also ends our joint Knit-Along, in which we have knitted this year scarf or stole Zoe. Strictly speaking, the KAL already ends tomorrow, because the fine-tuning of the knitted piece takes some time here. Besides sewing the threads, we advise you very, very urgently to wash and block the scarf or stole.
Of course, we always recommend giving your knits a bath when they're done, but here the process is so essential that I don't even know how to emphasize it more. Because: the cable knit pattern doesn't reveal its full beauty until you've secured it to the mats with worsted pins and stretched it into shape. Trust me, it will make such a difference! And to present the gift, you can still use the banderole and card that our super graphic designer Stine has designed for us.
Maschenfein knitting round
And before some readers break out in a cold sweat here, because they either haven't finished the stole yet or haven't tackled any knitting at all: Don't worry. Our Knit-Alongs are always and first and foremost about the fun of knitting and not about dates with "now we're done". Vouchers from Maschenfein are also a tiptop gift! 😉
Charlotte, for example, is still knitting her Zoe stole and even though she hasn't reached the end yet: The preliminary result is already more than respectable!
Finished and already on the mats, on the other hand, the noble piece is with Dagmar and I think we can all pay her respect. Gorgeous!
My love for delicate summer knits and colormix can be found this week at Sibel and Petra, among others. One has knitted the Summer Fling Sweater by Floetre with short sleeves from Tynn Silk Mohair by Sandnes, the other is working on the Melange Sweater by PetiteKnit from Tynn Peer Gynt.
The coronation of King Charles is scheduled for several hours of coverage today. Well, reading Saturday's coffee surely didn't take that long, but I certainly hope very much indeed that it was at least as entertaining. Have a wonderful weekend and feel free to top it off with lots and lots of knitting time!

Very nice suggestions again! But one thing I always find a bit annoying when I read the newsletter. Maybe you could change it, then it's an even more pleasant "reading experience": While reading, I like to click on the links provided to take a closer look at one or the other. When I then want to go back to Saturday Coffee, I always end up at the beginning of the newsletter. Then I always have to scroll down again and look where I can read further or where I have already read to.
Many greetings, Ira
Dear Ira, thank you for your feedback! Louisa and I just tested this: In Saturday Coffee, when we click a link on the blog and then click the "back arrow" in the browser, we always end up back where we clicked. In the newsletter that comes in the mail, all the links are set to open in a new window. Then when you go back to the mail, you also end up where you left off reading before. Feel free to send me more info about your device and browser version to "redaktion@maschenfein.de", then we can take a closer look at where the problem is. Thank you and best regards!
Sophia
Dear Sophia,
Just tried it through Safari as well. There it works. But I actually always use Ecosia and there it unfortunately does not work.
Many greetings, Ira
Dear Ira. All right, thanks for the info! I'll pass this on to our developers. Love, Sophia
So great this site, versatile in the truest sense.....
Dear Doris, great that you like it here at Maschenfein. Have fun with our site and best regards! Sophia
