Hand on heart: Are you disciplined knitters who work only on one project and only after completion the next strike? Or are you like me others (no idea who!), who also like to have a second and third project on the needles? Of course you don't have to tell (but you may!). But if one or the other is looking for a little variety (on the needles!): Welcome to the Saturday Coffee with small and big knitting ideas for new projects, with net talk and a little walk through our Maschenfein knitting round.

Two in One Guide

There is never such a thing as the perfect solution. Not even when it comes to pattern. But some of them come quite close to an all-round carefree package: For example the one Thea Top by Susanne Müller.

Susanne has transformed The Top...

...out came the Thea Vest!

This is what she released late last summer. This week came the (free) update to it: With a few modifications and the new Como and Premia yarn combo from LAMANA, you can easily knit yourself a pretty sweater. The Thea Vest is a great in-between seasons project. You can easily make it before spring really gets going. And even if it gets warmer then: Mette from PetiteKnit, for example, regularly shows that such a slipover does not have to be styled winterly at all. By the way, sweaters and tops are knitted in one piece top down.

If you would prefer something with sleeves, you could knit the Featherweight Cardigan by Hannah Fettig. It might be the right piece to carry you into spring with its three-quarter sleeves and shortened cut. The pattern for the top-down model are also available in German. As yarn we would suggest the Balayage from Pascuali. We're waiting on a few colors right now, but a sunny orange or even the bright yellow-green Piura would be there. The muted blue-gray tones I also find great.

But rather something small?

Perfect as a second, third or (yikes!) fourth project are socks. They can be very simple, plain knitted designs or ones with delicate patterns. I admit it: I love to look at beautiful socks. Preferably the ones from 52 Weeks of Socks from Laine.

Socks Heather©
Laine Magazine

But also in the magazines there is usually always a sock model. In issue no. 3, for example, it was the design Anouk (the pattern are also available separately). In issue no. 8 you can find Heather. I don't know if I would ever manage to knit such socks - but aren't they just beautiful? If you prefer to follow a German tutorial for patterns like these, you might want to check out Miamare from Schachenmayr. The yarn used here is the Krönchengarn Premium Cashmere, which you can also use for the other two designs mentioned. I would also find Premium Silk just as noble. Now that I write it like this: Maybe I should finally knit some socks with LACE pattern!

At our knitting kits you will find now also very fresh the packages to the current free patterns from SANDNES. The first is the Blomsterjakke, which is knitted from Duo by SANDNES. As a second design you will find the Sweater Frescoknitted in two strands from Duo and Tynn Merinoull (also SANDNES). Children's designs are also super projects that you can cast on the side. In this case, the only restriction is that you can not leave them too long, because children are known to grow quite quickly. #fromtested

...or a scarf?

The Yamagata scarf is knitted stockinette stitch.
Photo: © ITO

If that's too daring for you, you could reach for the Yamagata scarf from ITO. The model is easy to knit and is made from Awayuki, a fluffy yarn that consists of 80 percent mohair and 20 percent silk. You can either choose your own colors or use a ready-made kit.

Pssst....! Net whisper!

And even if traveling is still one thing... knitting in company is simply fun. An alternative to analog knitting meetings is a virtual knitalong. Our Jule is organizing a TeeKAL with her knitting group. In the last blogpost On the needles I already told you what it's all about: drinking tee and knitting T-shirts. Lotilda is also organizing a Knitalong to coincide with the start of spring. The cardigan Jona will be knitted, starting on March 22.

The Jona Cardigan is a beautiful oversize model!

For the Knitalong we offer you two knitting kits: In this one, for all you mohair lovers, you'll find Tynn Silk Mohair by SANDNES. And in this knitting kit we have put the Midnatssol by CaMaRose - a perfect alternative for all who like fleece but don't want to knit or wear mohair. Knitting is four-thread in both cases. All info about the Knitalong, where Tanja will also provide you with step-by-step photos, can be found for example in this Instagram post.

Maschenfein knitting round

If we now set off on our little virtual walk through our Maschenfein knitting round, you could fill up your coffee and tee cups again. For example, the pretty mugs by Minuk from Hamburg, which are now also available for purchase. The drawings are very typical for Antje and her small label and simply make a good mood.

I always get in a good mood when I see your knitting pictures. So many different designs - crazy! Katrin, for example, is busy knitting her Hokei Scarf from ITO and Anna shows you a great Lacetuch, knitted from Merida by LAMANA.

PHOTOS VIA INSTAGRAM: © instagram.com/emsstern / © instagram.com/laristrickt

Stephanie has finished her Anker's summer shirt - and is thus well prepared for spring. The above mentioned Midnatssol you can find at Larissa - and exactly for the soon starting JonaKAL. Well, who has got the desire now?

I hope you now have some ideas what else you could knit, in case one project is not enough for you... I for one have to knit a sample now. For a, hmm, third project. Anyway! Have a great weekend with lots of knitting time!

A look at the weather app bodes ill: nothing good. Something around zero degrees, rain, snow. Sometimes also clear plus degrees. Well, well, well. Better to spend the time knitting. And conjure up garments that will get us through the rest of the winter and into spring. So welcome to a warming Saturday coffee, with a variety of knitting inspiration and some net talk (keyword "knitting meeting"!).

New at Maschenfein: Lia Lykke

Super fresh at it is The fishermans Ribsweater from Lia Lykke. The pattern are available in English and Danish since today and very soon also in German. Because we are so fond of the design, we have already created the knitting kit for you. By the way, you will certainly not get fresh with the sweater. Julia knitted it with Snefnug from CaMaRose. One of our absolute favorite yarns: beautiful colors, very soft and without synthetic fiber. But you can also work with the Kos from SANDNES without any problems.

The sweater is an exciting ribbed sweater in semi-patent. Special increases and decreases create lines that give the sweater its shape. The sweater is rather nothing for beginners, but for this a really great design. And thanks to Snefnug or Kos you can wear it on milder winter days outside without a jacket.

Also perfect for the "in-between seasons" is our cable poncho, which I already showed you in the last newsletter. For the cozy part of Duo and Silk Mohair from SANDNES, two long cable bands are worked at the beginning. Then the two sleeve pieces are knitted. Together with the stitches picked up from the edges of the cable bands and the sleeve stitches, the poncho body is then knitted in stockinette stitch rounds.

We designed the poncho based on a Sandnes design and are more than happy with the result. I'm especially taken with the cable bands and the tight cuffs. Oh, oh - my knitting list! The pattern are - as always with our own designs - also available separately.

Often requested: Designs by Anne Ventzel

At the moment, our support mailbox is receiving a lot of questions about designs by Anne Ventzel. Quite rightly, if you ask me. Anne Ventzel is one of those people I would love to drop by for coffee. The trained designer lives in Denmark and there you can really always stop by for coffee. Gladly over several days, of course.

We already have two designs as knitting kits for you in the store - and of course we want to expand that! One candidate is for example the Ribbed Jumperwhich is also available with German pattern. The soft top-down sweater with a deep raglan cut attracts attention mainly because of the stand-up collar and the interlocked rib pattern. When it comes to the yarn, we can think of several combinations (stitch test is mandatory - don't forget!): Those who like to knit LAMANA could work Modena and Premia together. SANDNES fans can use Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair or Tynn Line and Tynn Silk Mohair. As you can see, there are many possibilities and you can see which material characteristics appeal to you the most.

If it gets a little chilly for you: Make a shawl around! I'm very sure that you are of course clothchnisch covered, but I'm even more sure that you are also interested in knitting more 😉.

I ran across two designs on Ravelry the other day (dialogue was something like, "Helloooo Sophia! We want to go to the Saturday coffee!" Me like this: "Hallöchen, but gladly!"). How about Glückauf by Melanie Berg, for example? If you love natural tones, you'd be happy with Puno by Pascuali (although more colors have been announced!). Alternatively, however, Pinta, also Pascuali. The existing silk content provides a delicate shimmer here. I imagine that for this asymmetrical cloth very suitable and noble!

The second model requires a little initiative. Because the pattern are not reinstructionsttern, but rather a transcript. The Textured Shawl nevertheless pleases me incredibly well. Stockinette stitch knit sections alternating with pattern pieces...yes, yes. That has something! Yarn-wise, we've been pondering a bit - but the Eco Cashmere from Blue Sky Fibers would be great! The yarn is a fine blend of recycled and reclaimed cashmere, sustainably produced, uniquely light spun, and extra luxurious. I'm in such a color frenzy right now (yes, maybe I'm ready for spring) and fell right in love with the "Crushed Coral" color. Three skeins should get you there for the shawl.

January free guide

Photo: © SANDNES

In our knitting kits you will of course also find lots of kids' stuff, including this cute sweater with lace pattern and ruffled edge. The SANDNES booklet is no longer available, but the pattern are free this month. You can simply select it in the knitting kit and download it after purchase. The yarn used is Alpakka Silke (70% baby alpaca, 30% mulberry silk) from SANDNES.

Fancy an online knitting meetup?

On Instagram we have already told you at the beginning of the year: We are in the mood for knitting meetings! And really! But unfortunately, our maschenfein knitting rounds can only take place virtually at the moment. But we make the best of it and have thought about our annual planning that we would like to meet with you for a "video conference. 🙂 Two dates we have set for now.

Per meeting can participate 15 people. The knitting sessions will take place on January 28 and February 2, both at 8:30 pm. For 90 minutes you can ask us questions and of course tell us about your current projects. So that we can really get into conversation, we keep the groups deliberately small.

Instead of knitting alone, we'll soon be knitting together! At least virtually.

Maschenfein

To ensure that everyone has an equal chance of a place in our video round, please send us an email to stricktreff@maschenfein.de by January 26, 23:59 at the latest. Please mention your preferred date in the subject line so that we can filter the messages more quickly. If more than 15 people sign up for a meeting, we will decide by lot. We will get back to you on January 27th with an answer and are looking forward to seeing you!

Our shop window

Our maschenfein showcase features the Caramel CardiganPhoto
via Instagram: © instagram.com/livingpaper.rothenburg

Strolling is just such a topic. What goes in any case: a stroll past our maschenfein shop window. For example, Andrea is showing the Caramel Cardigan by Isabell Krämer - knitted from Rakuda by ITO. The cardigan has already arrived in Berlin and Marisa will present it to you soon. And of course there will be a matching knitting kit, too! If you want to have a look already: Here you can find the knitting kit in the Rakuda and Sensai version.

Maschenfein knitting round

A very big knitting meeting is also our Maschenfeinstrickrunde on Instagram. Among other things, the #lamana10kal is currently running there for the 10th LAMANA issue. Anja is knitting sweater No. 8 from Como in a rich blue. And at Sabine 's you can see the Sunday Sweater from PetiteKnit - knitted from...well? Snefnug of course. Check out the project on her Ravelry profile. There she explains how she dealt with the different gauge.

Cloth inspiration and spring lust you get this week with Anke and Verena Mathilde. Anke has finished the shawl Margaretas Mama. She knitted our Christmas shawl 2019 from Milano by LAMANA. And at Verena Math ilde you get ideas how you can still wear your Osaka. What do you mean, you don't have one? That's not possible at all! And I'm allowed to say that, because I chained mine off the days. And I'm actually still thinking about a second one. The color palette of Sensai is so large that the combination possibilities are virtually infinite. I'll keep looking...

...and we wish you now a nice weekend with lots of knitting time!

2020, is that you? Are you just calling yourself 2021 now, as a cover? That's kind of how it feels right now. Of course, I knew that a fresh date wouldn't change the current situation, but that's how it always is at the turn of the year. That one has the hope for change after all. And so the most common words these days are still C*****, pandemic, lockdown, homeschooling, contact restriction and so on. But you know what's coming up again? Saturday coffee! It's back at the start now. With this in mind, welcome to the first Saturday Coffee of 2021, with knitting ideas, distractions, and webtalk from the world of (fine) knitting.

Photo via Instagram: © instagram.com/sandnesgarn

A good start to the new year succeeds by the way particularly well with a freshly filled wool basket (#füreuchgetestet). Sandnes knows that too and has equipped the above wool basket with Kos - and in a very pretty color selection, I think. Kos and related projects are of course also available here. You can also use the filter function to search our knitting kits by yarn. To see all knitting kits with Kos, please click here.

For me, for example, the Cecilie Skog Genser from Kos has been on my knitting list for a very long time, and it's available for adults and children. Every time Marisa wears hers and shows it on Instagram, I think to myself, "I'd like that one too!". I just really like the yarn (I used it to knit myself the Soul warmer Bjarka knit); it's soft yet lightweight and wears great.

But again and again we get the question about the synthetic fiber content. Who would like to do without this gladly, can reach for Snefnug from CaMaRose. The contstruction of the yarn is the same( I wrote about ithere before). But the Snefnug has a cotton instead of a nylon part.

In general, we are big fans of Snefnug, which we also noticed in our joint podcast episode at the turn of the year. Snefnug is wonderfully soft, knits great and is also really quickly processed by working with heavy needles.

A project, what you can knit from it, is the Eezra Sweater by rosa p. with patch pockets. Marisa's copy recently arrived in Berlin (many thanks to the hard-working knitter Ruth!) and what can I say: It's love at first sight! So with me and Eezra, but also with Marisa and Eezra. It's just a great design, which is made for these gray January days.

For all lovers of short sleeves

If you want to scold me and say: "Sophia, we know all that already! - then I say: "Yes, I know!" But sometimes I find it quite practical and am happy about supposedly "old designs", because you can easily lose track of the many designs that are now available. Of course, I have you but also picked out other designs!

For all fans of short sleeves: Carlie Tee by Pernille LarssenPhoto
: © Pernille Larsen

I have found, for example, the Carlie tee from Pernille Larssen. And was directly a bit in love. Which is because I just like gray. Imagine the sweater with saddle shoulders times to the dark jeans. Would be perfect!

As a yarn combo, we can very well imagine Kinu and Sensai from ITO for this top-down model. With the pure silk yarn Kinu and the silk-mohair yarn Sensai, you end up with a really classy and comfortable sweater. And I don't know about you, but when I always see the ITO cones, my fingers are itching to knit with the Japanese yarns again.

Really - I can't say it any other way - cool I also think this cardigan from La Maison Rililie. Winston is knitted top down and impresses with the striped pattern, which merges into the light batwing sleeves. The pattern are also available in German.

As a yarn, we imagine Cowgirl Blues' Merino Twist Solids would be great, and they come in a variety of colors. Actually, the Merino Twist Solids are a sock yarn, but it's much too bad that they can't be turned into other garments. Especially since the superwash finish also gives the pure new wool yarn a delicate shimmer. Also possible, by the way, would be Rakuda from ITO. Also a great yarn, consisting of wool and camel hair.

Broken rib pattern

Stripes and broken rib pattern on Sweater No. 12Photo
: © My Favourite Things

Let's stay briefly on the subject of stripes. The Sweater No. 12 by My Favourite Things Knitwear is a supposedly classic stripe sweater, but it has a little extra: a broken rib pattern. It's knit from the top down. For the yarn, we're thinking either Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair by SANDNES or, if you want a cashmere component like in the original, Milano and Premia by LAMANA.

Favorite knitted piece of the week

Admittedly, my favorite knit of the week is also a bit of self-praise. You see, after a good ten months, I finally managed to finish my Robin Sweater from Paula_m. By "finish" I mean that I finally knitted on the cuff, after I'd done a bit of ribbing because it was a bit too tight for me (hello Christmas waffles!).

It's a paradox. At least for me. There's just a tiny bit missing and you (I) know exactly that it would be finished in a few evenings. And yet you (I) manage to start various other projects instead and to finish at least a part of them. One (I) must say it so clearly: I am extremely rarely faithful to knitting projects.

But the work on the Robin Sweater was worth it in any case. The sweater, which we have in the knitting kit with the Sunday from SANDNES, is knitted seamlessly top down. First the collar is worked in the rib pattern in rounds, then the neckline is shaped using short rows. After shaping the neckline, knit rounds and work increases at the shoulders for the batwing sleeves. For the armholes, briefly separate the front and back and then continue to knit in rounds. With the following decreases you decide how tight you want your sweater to be. For me, as I said, not quite as tight as the pattern 😉 And now? Now I wear the sweater almost every day and am super happy with it!

Accessories from Tulip and new knitting kits

Have you already seen in our accessories section that we've really stocked up at Tulip? In addition to knitting needles, you'll also find crochet needles and sewing needles. There are also pins, as well as a knitting gauge. And don't forget to have a look at our knitting kits. If you click on "Sort by newest" above, you'll see directly what we've just added for you.

Besides the great Bregne Sweater from Pernille Larsen, we also have for example the Trifle - the easy one by ChrisBerlin for you. You knit the shawl in Marisa's version from Cashmere 6/28 by Pascuali and (double yarn) Sensai by ITO. ChrisBerlin is also running a knitalong for the trifle - maybe someone else wants to join?

Maschenfein knitting round

When I looked at our #maschenfeinstrickrunde on Instagram I was really amazed: Amazing how much you knit! But the time between the years is perfect to start and/or finish projects. Three scarves Ava at Silvie's, at Sandra 's (who is also the designer) and at Sibel's. Sandra also shows her new Morginn Cardigann, which keeps you super warm in winter weather.

That the shawl love is big with you (and us) is also shown by the shawl Hinata at Isabella (even presented in the same style as in the shawl book!) and the Osaka at Verena Mathilde. And frolein_d has knitted a cozy version of the Jules Sweater. Made from Snefnug. Well, you see, you can't get around this yarn in 2021!

So I would say, good that it's only January. And thus a (almost) full year lies ahead of us, in which we hopefully come much and with pleasure to knitting. We are happy if we can inspire and accompany you also this year (so we say here in Franconia). A happy and healthy new year to you all!

Well, what can I say: It's December and the year is officially coming to an end. This morning it even snowed here in Würzburg and I am now fully in the winter-Christmas mood. Everyone has to go through it - but you are used to a lot from me by now.

Of course, the appropriate knitting projects may not be missing. And of course, almost all of us have something on the needles (Jule must urgently add! ;-)). But you can already see that it's getting closer to Christmas: There are a few little things that still need to be finished before the presents start. Oh, and you will see right away that our team has grown. We are very happy about that! So welcome to our monthly round on the needles. And don't forget to tell us what you're knitting at the moment!

We continue felting...

We've already hinted at it on Instagram: We're still in felting fever and just can't keep our hands off the fritid yarn. In addition, there is the Advent hustle and bustle, which also does not stop in front of Corona. Or Corona, which in turn does not stop at Advent and additionally "delights" us with many a quarantine. For this reason, Marisa continues to knit the felt slippers Doble Tøfler.

With Marisa the felt slippers are on the needlesPhoto
: © Marisa Nöldeke

The felt slippers have become a real hype. The knitting kit, with which you will also receive the German translation, can be found here. As we have already told you several times, there is a small modification: In contrast to the original, we have decided to cast on the stitches only provisionally and to connect them afterwards with the stitch. Then there is no seam pressing on the foot. So that nothing goes wrong, we have made three videos for you. A big thumbs up to Sandra, who has been busy knitting and filming. You can find all videos in our YouTube channel.

A basket full of Fritidsgarn is also at Sophia. Currently there is the color Plomme (4529) on the needles for the felt gloves Fritzi. Besides, the gauntlets Elsa are knitted from the wonderful Cashmere 6/28 from Pascuali. After all the hand washing, knitting this soft yarn is pure bliss. The knitting kit is available here. You can also buy the pattern separately.

On the right picture you can also see the Tova bag, also made of fritids yarn and a super quick to knit project. Jule has also knitted one. I tell you: They really just fly over the needles. Meanwhile, we have almost all knitted one or even several.

But we can also be big!

Sandra knits a cozy cardiganPhoto

Sandra continues to knit - besides the many small felting projects she had on the needles, of course - her Cardigan Morginn from Laine Magazine No. 4, knitted in brioche with the Alpaca Fino from Pascuali. A dream, quite honestly. And it makes me really want to knit sweaters and cardigans. I already have something in mind... More's maybe already in the next blogpost from Auf den Nadeln. 😉

And finally, I would like to introduce our newest team member: As of today, Katharina joins our support team. A warm welcome! And of course she is knitting a project right now:

Lifting stitches used in very different ways: the Aut Idem by JanukkePhoto
: © Katharina Hirsch

Katharina has the scarf Aut Idem by designer Jana Huck aka Janukke on her needles. The model consists of numerous variations of the woven pattern: dots, dashed lines and stripes are created as well as a continuous three-color pattern. Knitting is done with Shio and Rakuda from ITO.

"There are many shades of gray to keep us busy." This sentence is not from a current fashion magazine, but from the weather report. For me, it's not a problem. I'm an absolute fall person (yes, ok, when I'm on my bike there may be a break in the rain, of course). When raindrops patter against the window and I'm sitting on the sofa with knitting and maybe a little piece of cake (it's supposed to happen), my autumn heart skips. In this sense: Good morning to a possibly rainy Saturday coffee, but with bright gray tones, a new translation (especially for you!), softest yarns and webtalk. Make yourselves comfortable!

High quality and durable

Some time ago Marisa contacted the designer Julie Hoover. Her style fits us wonderfully - and a design also perfectly in our theme month. October is all about multicolored knitting for us - but more about that later.

To me, hand knitting reflects a beautiful way of creating fashion. (...) Simply making things you will keep for years and everything is invested in quality and creativity.

The quote is from the description text by Julie Hoover on Ravelry. I don't think there is a more beautiful summary of the best hobby in the world. It sums up so well what we are trying to show here at Maschenfein as well: High quality yarns meet great designs. The result is garments that will last for many, many years.

One of them could be this loop. A great project if you want to start with multicolored knitting and want to warm up with the technique. To keep you supplied with the nicest cozy knits this fall, we've taken care of a translation (I wonder if there's more stuff to come? Who knows!). In any case, the loop "Encadré" by Julie Hoover is now also available in German.

To the knitting kit "Loop Encadré

The great thing about the loop: It looks like doubleface, but it's not! Instead, you fold the circular piece in the middle at the end and knit it together using the stitch. And Maschenfein wouldn't be Maschenfein if we didn't have a little video for you:

We will explain how to join open edges with the stitch.

In any case, my fingers are really itching to make this loop. No, my needles may not be empty. Yes, my project basket may be full. But hey, who wouldn't be tempted to dream of cashmere? Because for the loop, we've packed you a knitting kit with Pascuali's Cashmere Lace Bio.

The Cashmere 6/28 Bio Photo: © Pascuali

At Maschenfein there is a lot of love for cashmere at the moment. We are particularly fond of Cashmere 6/28 Bio from the Pascuali family. Above I have packed you times the color card. I must confess that I recently treated myself to two balls of yarn. In cheerful gray, of course! I'm knitting myself cuffs out of it. Actually, I was going to give them away, but I think the separation would be all too hard for me after all. Let's see how I decide in the end 😉

Of course, the price is not without. Cashmere is one of the most luxurious fibers that we can get so on the needles. The wool of the cashmere goat is very soft, so even people with sensitive skin can wear it. At the same time, the knits are light and warm us in winter. But due to the breathability of the fiber, we also do not sweat in the summer.

Respect animal and human

The extraction of cashmere is very laborious. Only 150 to 200 g of pure cashmere wool can be combed from the fur of a cashmere goat per year. Mind you: combed! On the other hand, Cashmere Lace and Cashmere 6/28 by Pascuali are now also certified organic. This is not about wanting to shine with a certificate, but about the fact that animals and humans are respected during production. The certificate at Pascuali guarantees that the wool comes only from free-living animals and is also processed directly in Mongolia. This also helps to preserve the lifestyle of the nomadic herders in the region. As you can see, the ball of yarn we are holding in our hands has quite a long history. I always find this kind of thing incredibly exciting! By the way, Marisa has already talked with Paul von Pascuali about this very topic in an episode of our podcast. Definitely recommended listening!

Enthusiasm with Maschenfein

And because we ourselves are convinced of this yarn, we have created more knitting kits with Cashmere 6/28 Bio for you. There you will find for example some smaller projects like the hat "Ole" from Paula-m. Another new addition is the beautiful sweater "Threipmuir" by Ysolda Teague. What a great piece! The knit is knit top down with a circular yoke inspired by Icelandic patterns. The designer herself is Scottish and makes a point of her designs being "sizeinclusive" - that is, suitable for a variety of body proportions. In this case, the sweater design goes up to a chest measurement of 150 cm. If the amount of cashmere in "Threipmuir" is too much for you, you can also knit the sweater from Lamana's Como.

To knitting kit cap "Ole
To the knitting kit sweater "Threipmuir

By the way, I can only recommend Ravelry at this point: If you search for the yarn "Cashmere 6/28 Bio" (or any other yarn), you can see what other Ravelry users knit with it. For example, the shawl "Winter on my mind" by Melanie Berg was there. Or how about the shawl "Long Shadows" (big photo) by ANKESTRiCK? You can find both kits in the store ("Winter on my mind" is made with a different (also great!) Pascuali yarn. If you want to change your mind, we will be happy to advise you! Just send an email to "support@maschenfein.de").

On our Instagram account Marisa has also already shown you a new design: The gauntlets Elsa (For Frozen earwigs is not liable!) There will soon be in our store. Either in the knitting kit with Cashmere 6/28 from Pascuali or of course as a single pattern. Sandra is "knitting" over the pattern again right now and then hopefully we'll see the hashtag #maschenfeinelsa over on Instagram quite often soon. And while we're on the subject of cuffs: Do you prefer to knit with a needle gauge or the sock wonder from addi? In the Maschenfeinteam we have already discussed a lot. I knit sleeves with circular needles, for example, but for socks and cuffs I stay true to a double pointed needles. For example, we have great ones from Chiaogoo in the store!

What was going on at Maschenfein?

For weeks we have been telling you that we have a lot going on. Still true. The relaunch of the site is progressing relentlessly, our contract knitters (by the way, here you can finally find an overview of our whole team) are knitting so diligently for our #maschenfeinesschaufenster, Sandra advises you non-stop and Jule maintains all our knitting kits and accessories. And there was also a lot going on on the blog.

So we have chosen October as the theme month and put it under the sign of "multi-fab knitting". It's like a star sign among knitters 😉 In any case, you'll find an article with classic pieces in fair isle and Norwegian patterns. In another post we will explain you the necessary technique. And also, we recorded a new podcast episode this week. The guest was Sophia from Stichfest, who told Marisa quite a bit about multicolored knitting. I've already listened to the episode and can only recommend it to you. But don't blame us if you want to go straight to Norway after listening!

"My favorite knitted piece"

I have to come back to the topic of gauntlets: When I'm working on the computer, I really like to wear them. My hands stay warm and I can still type well. Perfect for this is also one of our classics, namely the arm warmers with cable pattern. They are knitted from LAMANA's Cusco. And I just remembered that I still have a few skeins of it here. I call that fate!

If you use the hashtag #maschenfeinstrickrunde on Instagram, we see directly when you knit one of our designs or something from our yarns. Of course, it's also dangerous because it's a possible source of inspiration, but it's a risk we're happy to take.

Quite possibly Sandra has a new design on the needles. Quite possibly it will be socks. And quite possibly we'll have them soon.

Melanie has an Osaka all in black in her luggage. My utmost respect at this point! I think this scarf is so great, but it's already a patience project. And then still unicolored! But when it is finished - madness!

For Katrin, could you please help in an advisory capacity: How would you combine the many new colors for a Cambito sweater? And Sigrid has shown why resistance is futile at Maschenfein 😉 Now (almost?) everyone is knitting socks after all.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Autumn is here and with it all the beautiful knitting projects that simply belong: cozy sweaters, cuffs, socks and and and. Also with us is of course one or the other project on the needles. Maybe even several. It should happen that you are spontaneously hit by an inspiration and then comes this "I have to knit that too" impulse. I say only #sockenhype2020 or #koldingmania.

So that you do not run out of ideas, here comes a fresh contribution to "On the needles". If you like, join in and link your blogposts here at this post or use the hashtag #aufdennadeln on Instagram. Then we can all see what you conjure up so beautiful.

Socks, socks, socks

There is truly no denying it. At Maschenfein, we honestly have all the socks on the needles. We have completely succumbed to the #sockenhype2020. But that doesn't matter - after all, it's officially Socktober and we're doing everything right.

Right at the front are the Basic Socks from Paula-m. Sandra is already wearing finished socks that she knitted in two strands from Schachenmayer's Merino Yak. She has another model on the needles; this time from Premium Cashmere, also from Schachenmayer. Attention: From size 40/41 you should plan two balls of the respective quality to be on the safe side.

Sophia has knitted her basic socks from the Smart by SANDNES. The rest will now become a few mini socks for the child. By the way: The Italian gauge for the socks is really worth it. If you are newbies in this field, have a look at our little tutorial. We promise: The somewhat greater effort is worth it!

Italian stitch stop explained step by step

Marisa also knits the Basic socks, but with the CraSyTrio needles from Addi. You can get them in metal here or in bamboo here. Of course, you have to allow yourself a few more stitch markers when knitting the heel, but that's no big deal.

Jule is knitting herself a pair of hiking socks from Schachenmayer's Premium Bamboo with Fish Lips Kiss Heel. What do you think: Should we show you different methods of heel knitting? There are quite a few. If you have any questions, post them in the comments so we know where help might be needed.

Sweater Weather

What makes October more fun than snuggling up on the sofa? Exactly. For this reason, of course, sweaters and cardigans go on our needles (or were already there, should also have happened).

For example, Sandra has posted the Friday Sweater Mini - in a slightly modified version. The decision for two colors was too difficult, so she preferred four colors. She cast on the cuff in Italian (there you go again!) instead of double knitting as in the pattern. As you can see, knitting encourages creativity!

In a small mini knitalong is also the Caramel Sweater in the starting blocks. Sandra has chosen the Island Blend from ROWAN. Louisa and Silvie are also joining in: Once with Mini Alpaca and Silk Mohair from SANDNES and then from the Alpaca Fino from PASCUALI. You want to join the Mini-KAL? In the store we have a knitting kit for you. We have chosen the combination of Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair from SANDNES.

Marisa has besides her socks (and another little thing - more on Saturday in the Saturday Coffee!) still her September jacket on the needles. Here the collar is still due, because the first version did not turn out as desired. That's how it is: A little bit of perfectionism is necessary - it would be a pity for the beautiful yarn. So in case of doubt, it's better to rib again.

If you want to knit easily without having to think too much, I can only recommend our Easy Triangle Shawl. The pattern you have internalized in no time and can continue knitting easily at any time. Soon Lunar from Shibui will be on my needles. But first comes the stitch test, of course!
