{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

What an exciting last weekend it was! You wouldn't believe how much we sweated before Marisa's surprise went online in the form of a miniature t-shirt and arrived with her as a finished shawl. But it all worked out and in addition to Marisa's joy, your enthusiasm was of course the greatest reward for our secret (knitting) work in the background. Fittingly: perfect birthday weather! Knitting is simply a joy.

I'm already knitting a mininata this week - maybe you are too? And it's also perfect for the current weather: you definitely can't do without a shawl these days, which is why I'm bringing you one or two cozy pieces as well as springtime knits today. Because: The clever knitter makes provisions. Or now, a brand new piece of wisdom from me: Everything speaks for knitting! Read and see the collected pro arguments here. Make yourselves comfortable!

Here we knew: This is what we need!

The new design by Anne Ventzel is at the top of the "pro list". We have created the Villa Wrap for you with two yarn ideas. I'm very sure that at least one team member won't be able to resist and if I had to bet, I'd guess that two of my colleagues will be putting the jacket on their needles sooner or later.

But who can blame them: Ever since Anne Ventzel showed us the beginnings of the wrap, we knew that we definitely had to create a suitable kit. Now there are two and you have the choice between solo Como Grande from Lamana or Heavy Merino and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive.

Everything about knitting

As always with Anne Ventzel, you are guaranteed not to get bored while knitting. You work from the top down. You start with the back yoke, followed by the shoulders and front pieces. The front and back sections are joined together under the armpits and the body is knitted in rows up to the hem. Then pick up stitches along the front of the cardigan and the neckline and knit the facing in one piece with interlocked stitches in a rib pattern. The sleeves are knitted in the round to the cuffs.

It all sounds like the perfect knitting pleasure to me: There's something going on, but you can still listen to an audio book or leave the TV on. Or you can listen to the April weather - I like that too. Any counterarguments? Zero!

Perfect for pulling over

You already liked the cardigan - you'll love the sweater just as much: Montrose Sweater by Cheryl Mokhtari.

I have another cozy piece for you - and I'm sure you'll love it. Because after the Montrose cardigan by Cheryl Mokhtari aka Coco Amour has already caused a stir, the matching sweater is sure to strike a chord with you too!

As with the cardigan, the horizontal stripes on the Montrose sweater are a real eye-catcher. The extra width of approx. 24 cm ensures a casual look without looking baggy. It all depends on how you combine this style! Whether it's a little more chic with tight trousers or comfy over a dress - the decision is yours.

Knit from the top down. You start at the neckline, which is folded inwards. Short rows shape the neckline, raglan increases ensure the final shape. After you have finished the sleeves, work in rounds down to the hem. For the sleeves, pick up stitches from the armholes and then also work in the round. A classic construction that always works. For the yarn, we recommend Double Sunday from Sandnes. No bobbin thread, you've got it right. Pro-argument for all those who like to knit with single thread!

For warmbloods and those who want to become one

If you think the designs shown are beautiful, but a little too warm, or if you're just hoping for a timely comeback of spring like I am (I firmly believe that the ice saints got the month wrong), I've got plenty for you too, of course!

Still cozy, but already lighter, for example with The Bloom Cardigan by Marina Storm. Marisa and Sandra met the Greek-born designer, who currently lives in Mainz with her family, at the wool festival in Madrid.

And as is the case when knitting enthusiasts meet, the three of them immediately came up with a design by Marina: How about reissuing The Bloom Cardigan in a Pascuali combination? After all, Paul, the founder of the yarn manufacturer, was just a few meters away at his stand, so you can now find the matching kit here.

I knit with Manada and Sole from Pascuali - a super interesting combination (I'll just say "pro-argument")! Fluffy mohair (with silk, merino and yak fibers) meets cotton and cashmere. The individual fibers have a cooling effect, but don't look too summery in combination with the others. Perfect for anyone looking for something for the transition or for cool summer evenings. And anyway: it's a welcome change to appreciate purl stitches and wear them on the outside.

Worked from the top down. The German pattern describe the version knitted in rows. If you prefer to knit in the round and then steek - i.e. cut open - simply download the English version via Ravelry, where everything is described. Take a look at Marina's other colorful designs - and feel free to write to us if you have any yarn questions!

Knit in knots? That's what we want!

Time and again, we receive emails that begin with the following sentence: "I think I have a knot in my brain ... Can you help me with this part of pattern XY?" A counter-argument for knitting, you might think. But believe us: we know this all too well! Every knitter sometimes sits in front of a pattern and doesn't understand a paragraph - the famous knot! It happens and it's not bad at all.

So how good it is when a design is created like this from the outset and a knot is an important element! I've known that since my Argil top last year. I can hardly wait until it's warm enough to wear it again!

So I could knit myself the Twist Tee from Rilleruth first. Line by Sandnes is one of my favorite summer yarns anyway and with two pro arguments already, you shouldn't have to put up too much of a fight, right? So here we go: You knit from the top down. And don't worry too much about the knot. The ends of the knot are sewn to the bottom of the body, so you don't have to turn your knitted piece in a complicated way.

You can hardly knit without it: PetiteKnit

PetiteKnit - Cloud Top
This still has to go: Cloud Top from PetiteKnit.

If you've been wondering where PetiteKnit is with all the beautiful knitwear - don't worry! The busy Dane already has quite a few summer pieces in her portfolio and is now adding the Cloud Top to the range (among other things).

It extends the Cloud series (which previously included a sweater and a lighter blouse version ) and picks up on the simple but beautiful pattern at the hem. You knit from the top down with Tynn Line from Sandnes. The color palette is extensive, but not too big. I'm sure you'll find the right color for your wardrobe and add another check mark - right! - "Everything speaks for knitting ...".

The ONLi blouse from ANKESTRiCK is a must (and I actually wanted to show it to you last time). I think it's SO beautiful!

We have created two kits for you. Firstly, because we think the model is so great and secondly, because Pinta from Pascuali is the ideal yarn here, but you have been so busy with the Mother's Day shawl Lotti that we are still waiting for the subsequent delivery (in May, friends and joy, in May!!). So Sandra dived into the database again and discovered Tussah Tweed from BC Garn. A pure silk yarn fits perfectly here!

As with all other designs today, this is a top-down model - meaning it is worked top down. This allows you to adjust the length wonderfully. In general, I find the cut flattering, but not shapeless. The dropped shoulders are something for all those who don't like to wear tops, but like to have something "on their arms". The V-neckline and subtle stripes along the torso round off the design. Any counterarguments? I don't have any!

Woolly growth

Gentle color gradient that does not impose itself: Pinta hand-dyed.
Photo: ©️ Pascuali

À propos Pinta: Pascuali has brought out an extension in the form of a hand-dyed variant. We have added the yarn directly for you - the colors are gradually arriving in stock.

The composition is the same as for Pinta, except that it is dyed by hand and in batches (in Germany, by the way). Small deviations between the individual batches, but also within a batch itself, are possible - it's all handmade! To compensate for this, we recommend knitting alternately with two skeins. This will help to avoid any offsets. Please note that due to the uniqueness of each batch and each skein, the product image may differ from the wool supplied.

Not yet in the store, but very soon - promise! - are two new colors of Organic Cotton from Krea Deluxe. I really love this cotton yarn! It's perfect for crocheting cute little animals as well as for knitting summery items such as the Argil top mentioned above. The two shades of purple are a great addition to the color palette. As soon as the balls have arrived in stock and we have the photo material from the manufacturer, everything will be online for you!

Attention purple fans: There will soon be two new colors of organic cotton from Krea Deluxe.

Maschenfein knitting round

Do you also feel how everything speaks for knitting? I notice it every day. Everyday life alone doesn't let me get to the needles as much as my mind would like, but that's the way it is. So I console myself with your (finished) projects:

Carolin has finished the maschenfein Mother's Day shawl Lotti. Pinta in the color crocus is really awesome and will be back in May. I have my skeins in beige lying here and will definitely be getting into the KAL soon. It's never too late! Or: The next Mother's Day is sure to come!

Sandra shows you a finished mininata made from Como Cashmere by Lamana. Be sure to click on the Instagram post. In the pictures you can see the difference between the unwashed and the washed/stretched knitted piece. A bath and gentle stretching is essential here!

You can discover the beautiful Frieda pattern at Cashmereknitting. Here is the stole version made from Merino Baby by Pascuali and Cashmere Dreams by Lang Yarns. Precious and so beautiful!

Anna has an interesting yarn combination on her needles for the Light Loop Sweater from Other Loops. She has chosen Como and Modena from Lamana. This makes the knit denser than the original - I really like that! However, the material keeps it light. A great piece for milder, but not too warm temperatures!

Looking back on this Saturday coffee and knitting in general, I can't think of any arguments against the most beautiful hobby in the world. At most the limited number of arms and the limited time. But knitting can't help that. With this in mind, get on your needles and have a great weekend!
