Crazy. These are crazy times we live in. Sometimes I don't even know how to get on here. Many of you live in the areas affected by heavy rain and flooding - and I don't even like to imagine what the mood is like right now.

All the more we hope of course that you are well and wish you a wonderful good morning for Saturday coffee! Despite everything, I have chosen beautiful designs for you and webtalk in the luggage. We all know how comforting it can be to sometimes just have a little distraction.

News from Norway

What will it be? Top or dress? Knit both with the Line from SANDNES.
Photo: © un-told.no

You may have come across their designs or names before: Pia and Marte - known as GSknitwear and Claraknitwear - have joined forces to Un-told and are now selling their tutorials, among other things, on their site. There I also came across the Icetea series. Two summery designs that you can easily knit from the Line from SANDNES. The top is knitted with single yarn, the dress with double yarn. And in case you are afraid of a dress: The needle size is 7. 7!!11!!1 That people like me with the dress Lotta and needle size 3 might not be able to finish it this summer, ok. But you can make the Icetea Dress with needle size 7. (Nothing against the dress Lotta. It is beautiful. Also in summer 2022!).

Cozy knitwear always goes, right? Here, for example, the Novice Sweater Chunky Edition or the Elly Cardigan.
Photo: © PetiteKnit / Steffi Haberkern

And summer being what it is and it being perfectly legitimate to think about cozy knits as well, I still found these two designs. Or they have found me - so exactly I always do not know. Small fact on the side: Always, really always, when I find a beautiful model and think "I like that and you!", the following, fateful song comes to mind:

But back to the hard facts. The Novice Sweater Chunky Edition complements the existing Novice series from PetiteKnit. In the store you can already find for example the cardigan made of mohair (also in the junior version), the chunky cardigan, the sweater made of duo and Tynn Silk Mohair. And even if Jule got confused for a moment, she put the sweater on for you as a kit in no time. After a short consultation with Sandra, we decided on the following yarn suggestion: Snefnug and Midnatssol from CaMaRose. Simply a dream - and also great for all those who do not want to knit and / or wear mohair.

Also fresh on Ravelry is the Elly Cardigan by Steffi Haberkern can be found. Such a pretty design! It is knitted in the brioche pattern top down. And as you know, you get me with such fine details like the decreases to the sleeve cuffs. In general, knitting in brioche is just so much fun. It's meditative and yet varied. As yarn we recommend the combination Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair from SANDNES.

Simple, beautiful and yet with refined details: Meeting Points by Hinterm Stein.
Photo: © Hinterm Stein

Again and again we get the feedback from you - of course with a wink - "You again with your inspiration! Now I have to knit this too!" Well. This time, my dears, I'm simply turning the tables. Ha! The model Meeting Points of the designer Hinterm Stein has namely Sigrid carried into our knitting round and I was immediately clear, it needs the Samstagskaffee stage.

The model is knitted top down in the round. The overlapped sleeves are decorated with a pattern that is catchy to knit and still an eye-catcher. The loose cut makes Meeting Points very comfortable to wear, even in summer. Our yarn suggestions: Pinta From Pascuali (wonderful yarn for warm weather), Merino Twist Solids from Cowgirl Blues (great color palette and pssst... Here are still remaining lots in the sale!) or also Bayakagain from Pascuali (sooo nice and soft). This is the yarn Sigrid used. And so, as always, if you have a choice, you're spoiled for choice! (My favorite would be Pinta, by the way).

Also beautifully simple but with that certain something is the shirt Simply Denim from Christina Körber-Reith. Here again the line from SANDNES is used. The shirt is knitted top down - first in rows, then in rounds. Sleeves and hem each have a delicate pattern.

Also with beautiful details: the Simply Denim shirt.

Tips from Sandra

Let's imagine great in Organic Cotton from Krea Deluxe: Top Allegra Cami and the Selvedge Tee.
Photos: © Svetlana Volkova / Nina Holubcova

We ourselves are still a bit delighted with our yarn addition from Krea Deluxe and are always looking for designs to go with the new yarns. For Organic Cotton Sandra has now found two: the Top Allegra Cami by Svetlana Volkova and the Selvedge Tee by Nina Holubcova. Both designs are knitted seamlessly top down.

Webtalk

What is always worthwhile with us, is a click on Newest products on our home page ... 😉 Besides new knitting kits you will discover for example new books and magazines. Freshly sorted for you in the warehouse are for example some Pompom magazines and also books from the publishing house of the same name. I will soon introduce them to you in more detail - I promise!

Slightly shaky I get with the following model: The Waxed Canvas bag from Cohana you already know. In dark gray and cream. Now it is also available in pink. And I'll stop writing about it now, because otherwise I'll probably have to have it.

Also good news from CaMaRose: We have reordered all available colors of Økologisk Sommeruld and you can strike again.

And then I would like to draw your attention to this action of Sandra: In favor of the victims of the storm disaster in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate, she auctions her Pico-Fino scarf. The proceeds go directly to the German Red Cross, which supports the victims on site.

Take a deep breath and always remember: I'm in control!

You can also find summery colors in our Maschenfein knitting round on Instagram. Sylvie for example knitted the Camisole No. 4 from My Favourite Things Knitwear - and has a little trick for you if the straps are too long. Christina has finished the Seaside Dress from Marta Porcel. Marisa loved the dress, and I think this photo will add to the excitement.

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/gantenstein / instagram.com/utiekrueger

The Jules Sweater by Gantenstein I already showed you in the beginning. Now it's finished - and so I'm reminded that the summer version of Paula_m's sweater is very worth having. And finally, Ute made me laugh. Because the anecdote reminded me a lot of myself. But all the better that now also the last threads at the Edie Shirt by Isabell Kraemer are sewn and it is finally ready to go out!

As I wrote at the beginning, these are crazy times we live in. And they are not easy. But some things make life a little easier (at least sometimes). Maybe Saturday coffee is one of them. At least I hope so. Have a great weekend and take care!

We already told you: We are in summer mode. Which is not to say that we are no longer looking for beautiful yarns, tutorials and more inspiration for you. No, no. But knitting-wise, the summer pieces are now gradually moving onto our needles. And today we tell you which ones they are. Because maybe one or the other still needs a project for the vacation!

With structure but sleeveless

Camisole No. 4
The Camisole No. 4 made of pure silk - a dream!
Photo: © My Favourite Things Knitwear

Marisa fell in love with the Camisole No. 4 from My Favourite Things Knitwear right when the tutorial came out. But the top is also beautiful! And the thought of knitting it out of pure silk puts you in a good mood! That's why you'll find Jaipur Silk Fino from BC Yarn in the knitting kit. How about a camisole in night blue, for example?

Alternatively, you can knit the top but also great from the Økologisk Sommeruld of CaMaRose. You know when you have yarns on your list that you want to use someday (you know, in the next life of a knitter)? That's how it is for me with the Sommeruld. But somehow it's also a nice problem when you can't decide between two yarns.

Sandra is also sometimes sleeveless in the summer knitting. Her favorite: the Emma Top from Paula_m. A wonderful basic shirt in a semi-patent. You'll find four different variations in the knitting kit, as you can knit the top with a low back neckline as well as closed. With Cosma and Perla from LAMANA you can work the version with a back neckline, with Duo from SANDNES or Summerlite DK from Rowan you can knit the design with a closed back. Of course, you can always use up scraps of yarn for summer tops. So if you need the pattern separately, you can find them here.

If you want to knit a dress, check out the Nordic Summer Dress.
Photo: © WitreDesign

Before we switch to the covered arms faction right away, here's another design with thin straps: Arlene's summer favorite is the Nordic Summer Dress from WitreDesign. Since I'm knitting a dress myself right now, I strongly support this choice. And of course not only so that someone else has to knit endless rounds of stockinette stitch 😉 As yarn you can take here as in the original also the line of SANDNES. By the way, knitting is done from the bottom up. In this respect, you have the endless rounds at the beginning of the project - also somehow practical.

Rather something with sleeves?

Jule and I have chosen designs with sleeves for the summer favorites. But we also have travel headgear. That's just not possible with summer knits, especially not when the designers come from Denmark or Norway.

The head (and heart of course) behind this top-down design is Nina Ruth from Norway (Oslo to be exact, but I didn't want to torture you with too beautiful pictures in your head). Nina is known for her twist designs. And also this Twist Tee has it, of course: a knitted knot whose ends are sewn to the hem at the end. The yarn used is also the Line from SANDNES. Be sure to check out the Norwegian's other designs - there are more tops and shirts!

The shirt with a twist: a typical Nina Ruth design.

Super companion for the summer: the Anker's Summer Shirt from PetiteKnit.
Photo: © PetiteKnit

My summer favorite is the Anchor's Summer Shirt from PetiteKnit, also knitted from the Line knitted by SANDNES. I wear it all the time because it's just so uncomplicated. You can combine it dressy or casual - making it the perfect everyday companion for me (admittedly, I'm often casual due to pandemic). It's also a super project for beginners. The pattern from PetiteKnit are detailed to just the right degree - and here you can practice knitting top down with a round yoke.

And what do you knit in the summer? Do you already have a project or could we inspire you? Tell us about it in the comments! But for now we wish you a good start into the summer and many beautiful knitting hours on the balcony, in the garden, on the beach, ...

With the autocorrect it is always such a thing. Sometimes the funniest things come out. Like the other day: Sandra wants to write that she wants to try out the next yarns. And what does her cell phone do: "I'm going to sew those yarns next." I tell you, I laughed heartily. With this in mind: Welcome to Saturday coffee with nibbling ideas and net talk!

In the last newsletter and also already on Instagram we introduced you to the Økologisk Sommeruld from CaMaRose. Consisting of organic merino and organic cotton, it is simply a little yarn dream and perfect for warmer days. But thanks to the virgin wool even for cooler. For the right pronunciation you probably have to take a candy in the mouth, but would not be bad ... 😉 A note about the colors that are available in principle, but which we do not carry: Unfortunately, they are currently not available for order. But we will order as soon as it is possible. And if you strike at the existing colors, we of course also reorder.

You want designs? You get designs!

Designs for the summeruld single thread: Summer, Ship Shape, Anna's Cardigan My Size.
Photos: © Ankestrick / © Heidi Kirrmaier / © PetiteKnit

One of the most common questions we received after introducing the new yarn was, "Can you show designs?" Of course we can! Sandra has made stitch samples for you directly. And for herself, too, of course. She just loves to eat yarns!

Top-down into the summer with the summer debt

Your result with Summeruld single thread: 22 stitches with a 3 needle. That's fewer stitches than the manufacturer specifies - and thus shows how important stitch tests are. But with the 22 stitches you can take a look at the following designs: Summer from Ankestrick, Ship Shape by Heidi Kirrmaier (english) and Anna's Cardigan My Size from PetiteKnit.

All three designs are knitted top down. Summer and the Anna's Cardigan you already know from our store. But because of the matching gauge I wanted to mention it here again anyway. And the shirt from Heidi Kirrmaier completes the round perfectly. I mean, a striped shirt! Hi there!

Summeruld double at Collett Tee.
Photo: © Witre Design

Of course, you can also knit the Sommeruld double great. Just keep in mind that the result will be warmer because of the wool content. But if you get cold quickly or want to have a shirt that you can wear even in fresh temperatures - of course we have a design for you. Namely the Collett tee by WitreDesign from Norway (19 stitches per ten centimeters).

Again, this is worked from the top down. I like the slightly raised collar. Since that is rather nothing for midsummer, I think the Sommeruld therefore also suitable. Just imagine, dressed in this shirt you look over a Norwegian fjord - fits perfectly! And sorry for the head cinema.

Or how about a combination with Midnatssol?

Let's face it, a cardigan like this always goes: Champagne Cardigan, Growing and Soffi.
Photos: © PetiteKnit / © Lone Kjeldsen / © rosa p.

As a third sample Sandra has Summeruld with the Midnatssolalso from CaMaRose - I tell you, this combination has the potential to become a new favorite! With a gauge of 18 stitches on ten centimeters you can knit for example the following cardigans: Champagne Cardigan from PetiteKnit, Growing by Lone Kjeldsen or the Soffi Cardigan by Rosa P. - all three top-down designs, by the way. And with the Midnatssol (again, please just put Bonbon in your mouth and then pronounce it) will also make all those happy who like to wear fleece but don't like mohair. This yarn owes its fluffiness to its high alpaca content (54 percent).

New designs from Rowan

If you want to knit something else besides the Sommeruld: No problem. Rowan, for example, has some new designs. Directly in the eye jumped me the Cardigan Serendipity by Erika Knight. It is knitted with the Baby Cashsoft Merino. If you don't have the right color, you can also use the Babyull Lanett by SANDNES or the Pinta by Pascuali. And a "warning" at this point: The jacket is knitted - as often with Rowan - in single pieces from the bottom up. So knit the body and sleeves separately.

Baby panties SnugglePhoto
: © 2021 Rowan Yarns

With the same yarns you can also knit this cute baby panty: Snuggle is also a design by Erika Knight for Rowan and is knitted in rounds. I find the model totally cute and because of its size it is also really fast knitted. The yarns mentioned are also all suitable for baby clothes because of their composition.

Greetings from Marisa

What is Marisa knitting?
Photo: © Marisa Nöldeke

Since Marisa had a week off, she - very commendably! - she also uninstalled the Instagram app. But I know she was very, very tempted to show you her new project. She sent me a photo and you can guess what she's knitting. And next week she'll show it to you in the Stories!

And speaking of stories: Yesterday Sandra and I introduced you to the book 52 Weeks of Shawls by Laine - and of course a few designs. You can find the complete story in this highlight. I definitely had a short gasp when I saw Sandra's basket with Sensai skeins...

Maschenfein knitting round

Before we start our weekly walk through our #maschenfeinstrickrunde, a quick technical note: We have a larger color view again! For yarns and also for knitting kits you can click on "larger view" to see the colors again in large size on the left side. Thanks to our great IT employee Arlene!

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/stricknirtak / © instagram.com/lavandula_1

You can also see beautiful colors at Katrin. From the Cumbria from Pascuali she knits a baby blanket. And lavandula_1 has finished the scarf X-Faktor from ChrisBerlin. Knitted from Cashmere 6/28 from Pascuali. Dream yarn, really!

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/unkohnventionell / © instagram.com/sigridlamprecht

Den Novice Cardigan from Kos has knitted herself unkohnventionell. And if I understood the posting correctly, the complete outfit is self-made - hats off! At Sigrid 's you can see next to the scarf Pico Fino now the matching sweater: namely the Sweater No. 8 from My Favourite Things Knitwear. Both from the Alpaca Fino from Pascuali.

I hope you were able to take something for your knitting list again today. And for nibbling yarn. Maybe we'll start with breakfast first and then devote ourselves to the yarns. Have a great weekend!

Just the other day, we realized in our team meeting that we were somehow still stuck in the beginning of the year. It's a bit of a shock to realize that it's already May and we're in the middle of the second quarter. The signs are pointing to spring - even if we still - or again - have one or the other cozy piece on the needles. But read for yourself:

At some point they all become weak

Maschenfein

Marisa is really bad. So everyone on the team is bad, but Marisa is the worst. I would never have knit myself a shawl in baby blue. I do now. Namely our beautiful Luna cloth from the equally beautiful Midnatssol by CaMaRose in Dueblå. Sometimes you just have to see colors in others first. I already told you at Saturday Coffee that we are currently revising the pattern, because in this case the gauge doesn't work and we are adding a sequence. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at "support@maschenfein.de".

There - together with Jule - Sandra always helps you. For me, she was the pinnacle of knitting discipline for a long time. One project, maximum - but only in exceptional cases! - one additional, no stash. Well.

And now? There I open Sandra's mail with the photo of the current project, expect the TheCozyHoodie from Clarissa Schellong and what do I see? A gauge! From Piper. For the Anna Cardigan. Her message about it, "Reason or not, when the boss lets such a great yarn move into the store, you almost can't help it... it all looks a hell of a lot like a #maschenfeinannaKAL. Who's in?" As quickly as you ordered Piper, I can tell Sandra either way: there are a few in!

Anticyclical knitting with Jule, Mother's Day with Sophia

Headband knitting in May at Jule's.
Photo: © Julia Gotthardt

Jule has decided on the following motto: "After winter is before winter." For this reason, she is knitting a new headband design. She has already explained to me how the plaiting will work. And I can promise you that we will make a video about it. The knitting will be done with the wonderfully soft Tibetan by Pascuali. The yarn (70% merino, 30% yak) already exists - but it has had an update: The merino portion is now certified organic and the color palette has gotten a huge expansion. From August you can choose between 38 colors. Personally, I think Jule takes a ball of yarn to cuddle in bed with her in the evening. That's how much she raves about it.

I hereby declare myself the new queen of knitting discipline. If Napoleon could crown himself emperor, that won't be so bad. And so I continue to knit Carla - our Mother's Day shawl this year. I have now cast off part 1 and am looking forward to starting the second part with Premia by LAMANA. Whereby the Kinu from ITO has very excited me in the first part - it simply creates a beautiful knitting feeling!

My grandma would say, "Who would have thought!" She's right. Who would have thought we'd have another winter like this? I didn't. And all of a sudden, here we were, sitting in snow like so many of you, and freezing temperatures. So welcome to a slightly snowy Saturday coffee, with warming knitting ideas, a new yarn, beautiful bags, and fishnet whispers.

New at Maschenfein: Midnatssol

Maybe someone of you knows this "must-have-feeling". With wool. So quite possibly someone of you. Marisa, for example, is affected by it. Recently it happened again when she discovered the yarn Midnatssol by CaMaRose from Denmark. "Should we add this to the store?" she asked. But basically, it was already included there.

Midnatssol also has a beautiful color palettePhoto
: © Sandra Groll

And so the yarn is now already waiting for you in the store. A few (more) have already discovered and ordered it. Midnatssol consists of 54% alpaca, 36% Tencel and 10% virgin wool - and is therefore a wonderful alternative for all those who do not want to knit mohair. You can work it individually, multi-threaded or in combination with other yarns (Snefnug!). Either way, it remains a beautiful and warming yarn.

Of course, we have also put together a few knitting kits for you directly, in which the new yarn is. So we facilitate the start of a new knitter-yarn relationship.

New design from Camilla Vad

A design that you can knit very well with Midnatssol is the Sweater Magnolia Bloom by Camilla Vad. The sweater has as a pattern - as the name suggests - magnolias; now probably a trademark of the Danish designer. The beautiful flowers adorn several of her designs and there is hardly anything more beautiful than a row of blooming magnolia trees in the spring (As much as I love snow - I'm also looking forward to warmer days again!).

The sweater is knitted multi-threaded. Sandra has knitted several stitch samples directly, so we can advise you well. For this sweater we recommend the following combination: one yarn Snefnug together with one yarn Midnatssol. The gauge of the Magnolia Bloom Sweater is 12 stitches per 10 cm - so you'll see results quickly when knitting.

Magnolia Bloom by Camilla VadPhoto
: © Camilla Vad

In my search for more designs for this yarn, I naturally got stuck with the maker herself: Trine Bertelsen is the head and heart behind CaMaRose. The name of her company, by the way, is made up of the first names of her three children: Carl-Emil, Mathilde and Anna-Rose. In the production of her yarns, Trine makes sure that both ethical and ecological standards apply and are adhered to. For example, the merino fibers used in Midnatssol are free of mulesing.

With Midnatssol you can knit among other things the children's cardigan Mini Dreamy Cardigan cardigan. For this you hold the yarn three times. For a nice melange effect, you can choose three different colors or stick to the plain version. In any case, knit top down. The sizes range from six months to three years.

The Smock Sweater is also a top-down model with a pretty pattern on the yoke. The sleeves are cut wider and end with a tight cuff. The construction allows you to easily adjust the length of the sleeves and torso. Matching collar is also available Turtleneck with smock my size. For this you knit Midnatssol double. Especially now with the icy temperatures, the shawl collar is a great addition to the winter coat.

Do you already know the Snefnug?

...little joke! Of course you already know the Snefnug. If not, here comes another design - the one from Erikka Slipover by Rosa P. Of course already created as a knitting kit for you.

Erikka Slipover
The Errika slipover by Rosa P.

Erikka Slipover
...knitted from snefnug...
Erikka Slipover
...it's a quick project for the last (?) winter weeks of the season.

The Erikka slipover, which Rike wrote a very funny introduction to on Instagram, is knit seamlessly top down. First the slipover is worked in rows, the shoulders are shaped with short rows. Then the body is knitted in rounds. The front and back are then divided and worked separately in rows.

The Erikka Slipover can be knitted in three lengths and with two neckline variations. In the knitting kit you will find the quantity for the long version with neckline. In the shopping cart you can easily adjust the amount of yarn.

Rather something small?

Who would rather knit a small project for the cold temperatures, could reach for a headband or a cap. A few weeks ago I have already presented quite a few designs. Today, two more are added.

Hood MikaPhoto

Woven Cable HeadbandPhoto
: © Ellaandthericks

Very fresh at our knitting kits is the Mika Hood from Paula_m. Thanks to heavy needles you can make the hood with a small shawl collar in no time. It is worked top down and completely stockinette stitch with rolled edge. In the knitting kit you will find the Kos from SANDNES.

Alternatively you could knit the Woven Cable Headband knit. We would suggest the Bergamo from LAMANA. The pattern are also available in German. So if you ever wanted to try your hand at cable knitting: This is your chance!

Regina Moessmer x LAMANA

I already told you in the newsletter: Designer Regina Moesmmer has created five different designs using yarns from LAMANA. Our favorite of the week in the newsletter was Emmabut just now when I was putting the pictures in our coffee shop I spontaneously fell in love with Matteo (the sweater, honey, the sweater!!). The half brioche sweater with cable stitch is knitted from Milano. It happens to be one of my favorite LAMANA yarns. Have a browse through the different kits. Either click on the pictures above or have a look at all kits with designs by Regina Moessmer.

Back in the store: Bags by Franzi Klee

One of our personal Maschenfein highlights last year - besides all the great yarns and designs - was our cooperation with the Leipzig-based label Franziska Klee. In this blog post I already told you more about Franziska, her philosophy and the cooperation with Maschenfein.

After a first round of orders in November/December, there were always inquiries about when the bags would be available again. Now they are! Until the end of February you can buy the case Mila, needle bag Mara and bag Mona again. Please note the extended shipping time: Only after your order the bag will be handmade in Franziska Klee's studio.

Our first podcast episode in the new year: Knitting with Lainevia

There were also questions about our podcast. When there would be a new episode. There was now - and directly a little firecracker. 🙂 We have spoken with Sini Kramer, co-founder of the famous Laine-Magazine. If you don't know the episode yet - have a listen! Meanwhile we are already working on the next recordings...

By the way, we're always happy when you post a picture on Instagram of your current project while listening to the podcast. Because that's exactly how we imagine it: Something nice to listen to while continuing to cast on the current project. It doesn't get much better than that.

You definitely have enough projects. 😉 Kerstin, for example, is knitting the shawl Elfriede from the sixth Laine Magazine (how fitting!) from Cumbria by The Fibre Company. Kathrin shows you her Kolding from ChrisBerlin. She is knitting with the yarn combo we also have for you in the knitting kit: Lunar and Silk Cloud by Shibui. So beautiful and so classy!

Sandra may recognize one or the other of you, what is there on the needles. There's a cute little design for you soon... And at Hannah 's, the Water shawl is ready to go. She knitted it in the Snefnug version.

So then also closes today's CaMaRose circle 😉 We wish you a wonderful winter weekend, with hopefully lots of sunshine and knitting time!

Here we are again. That which was never gone, but perhaps only a little less present, has caught up with us again. Let's see how our "everyday life" develops. It is all the more important to provide constants. This text is supposed to be one of them. So welcome to Saturday coffee with a little of this and that from the knitting world, net talk and ideas, what you can knit so when the thoughts go roller coaster.

First of all, we would like to thank you for your participation in our survey: so many of you took part! Your feedback helps us immensely in our further work. We're still in the process of evaluating it, but we've already had a few important insights. In this Saturday Coffee, I have also tried to implement one or two of them. Have fun reading!

2020 has often given me the feeling of simply pulling the covers over my head. I've certainly tried it, but we can see right now, it has not helped. But it has done well and such a "I want to see nothing at all now" is just also great with great oversize knits.

In our store I came across these two designs from the first Wooladdicts magazine. The yarns and magazines of Wooladdicts belong to the traditional company Lang Yarns, from which we also have some yarns in the store. And even if the magazine is already two years old - ponchos or oversize sweaters for the layered look are faithful companions, especially in the current weather.

Airy light, yet warm

Both styles are knitted from "Air," a yarn made from 84 percent virgin wool and 16 percent polyamide. The fine merino fibers lie around the nylon thread, making Air particularly fluffy. The eye-catcher is the melange effect of the individual colors.

The sweater captivates with its patch pockets, thumbholes and long side slits. The poncho is made by knitting two squares and six tassels. So if you're looking for a mindless knitting project for November - this could be it!

To the knitting kit sweater "Pocahonta's Fav
To the knitting kit poncho "Balmy Breeze
About the yarn "Air" from Wooladdicts

Eye-catcher "broken rib pattern

For all those who don't want it quite so casual, perhaps the sweater "Lilas" by French Sandrine C. would be something.

The sweater is knitted top down in a broken rib pattern. The yoke is formed with the help of short rows and raglan stitches. Then the sleeves are stopped and you knit the body. But some also knit the sleeves first and then the body to the end - so you #sleeveisland a little ahead and it's less bad 😉

Size-wise, the sweater is designed for a chest circumference of 149 cm. As a yarn combination I can well imagine Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair from SANDNES, but you may have to go down a bit with the needle size. By the way, the English pattern should not scare you. I like to knit according to Enginstructionsttern, on the internet you can find a list with all abbreviations and in our Facebook group there are always helpful knitters!

Warm for the neck

To be well protected from colds, it is of course important that the neck is also protected. Perfect for this: a loop! I've picked out several designs for you.

So, which one would you like? The unisex model "Curlew" comes from the pen of Martin Storey, the house and court designer of ROWAN. I'm not sure if my husband would wear such a voluminous loop (although he has surprised me many times!), but I definitely would. Knit with the yarn Moordale, which perfectly combines British wool and alpaca. Add to that the (highly, highly, highly recommended) British series Broadchurch and your English mystery evening including knitting session is perfect.

To the tutorial Loop "Curlew" on Ravelry
About the yarn "Moordale" from ROWAN

If you don't like scary things (today would be Halloween, by the way), you might warm up to one of the other three designs. The "Bandana Cowl" from Purl Soho works great with Kos from SANDNES, the Snefnug from CaMaRose or even the Cashmere Classic from Lang Yarns. Oh, and Techno from Blue Sky Fibers would work too. I'm sorry if I'm putting you in decision-making difficulties now 😉

The pattern are in English, but the key abbreviation is "S2KPO". This is not an abbreviation for a special police unit, but means "Slip 2 stitches together knitwise, knit 1, pass the 2 slipped stitches over the knit stitch." And the whole thing in German: "Slip two stitches together as if knit right, knit 1 stitch right, pass the two slipped stitches over the knit stitch". Done. By the way, instructionsttern are free.

Soft, softer, cozy wool

A little dreamy comes the shawl collar "Chunky neck" of SANDNES therefore. Under a coat I imagine the really great! The collar is knitted three-threaded from two threads Kos and a thread Silk Mohair on - please hold - 9 to 10 mm needles. If you're done with it in one evening, that's probably how it will be. Silk Mohair is the big sister of Tynn Silk Mohair and consists of 60 percent mohair, 25 percent silk and 15 percent wool.

The last model that fell in front of my feet was the "Simple Brioche and Garter Cowl" by Melody Hoffmann. The Frenchwoman makes wonderful tutorials and I really hope that one day they might be available in German. But since this tutorial is also free and at the end on the most important abbreviations are explained, I wanted to show it to you anyway.

Garter stitch, brioche, garter stitch

The loop consists of three different sections: a garter stitch part, a brioche part and then again a garter stitch part. The yarn count is "Aran" (would you be interested in an article on this?), so in this case I would go for Felted Tweed Aran from ROWAN, for example. Also, because the rustic look fits great to the loop, as I find. If you don't like the tweed effect, you could also use Merino 70 from Lang Yarns.

After teasing pretty nasty for two weeks now, they finally went online this week: The hand gauntlets Elsa from Cashmere 6/28 Bio by Pascuali. For the cuffs you need two balls of cashmere yarn. But since we also provide the pattern separately, you can also use an alternative yarn. If you need help with the selection, write us a mail to "support@maschenfein.de".

Tip of the week

I have another little laugh (and tip!) for you. If you are traveling by car with a (small) child who is prone to nausea, do not place your wool basket in the footwell in front of the child in question. Because no matter how fast you are, the child will be faster and the stomach contents in the basket. My luck was that my wool was in another bag. And I could actually laugh about it right afterwards. I had gotten some, too. So what else is left but to take things with humor? Especially in times like these.

Fresh from the blog

By the way, the last part of our series on multicolored knitting went online on the blog this week. In it I have shown you once again maschenfein designs to re-knit. Also included was the shawl Nissa from the second shawl book. The pattern are now available separately, as well as the matching knitting kit. Nissa is made of Como by LAMANA and is a great piece to practice knitting with two colors within one row. Which color combination would you choose?

Maschenfein knitting round

By the way, our #maschenfeinstrickrunde on Instagram is low-contact, but therefore not less personal. For example, you can see Elke's Novice Sweater by PetiteKnit knitted from CaMaRose's Snefnug. The enthusiasm for the soft yarn is virtually palpable throughout the post. Silvie is also growing a design by PetiteKnit: She knits the Caramelsweater from Alpaca Fino by Pascuali.

Kathrin has finished the Myrtha Cardigan by Kathrin Schneider. Knitted here from the Cumbria Fingering of The Fibre Company. The hole pattern certainly requires some concentration, but it's worth it! And at Iris you can see the Mindlessknitting project par excellence: the Osaka Scarf. And even though I haven't even finished mine yet, I'm already thinking about new color combinations. That's terrible!
