{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

Sometimes my mom asks me on Fridays if she has to be "afraid" of the next Saturday coffee. Whether she would again have to knit something when she reads it then. Well: That may be! That's the general risk when you hang around Maschenfein. It can always happen that you discover something nice here. New designs, for example. Or new yarns. Or small offers. Yikes!

A wonderful good morning to the Saturday coffee! It is again packed full. With knitting ideas. With store news. With reading fodder. With an offer. With a knit-along. So I'd say it's the perfect start to the weekend! Happy reading!

Summer on the needles

There are yarn combinations that make me all fuzzy. In the best sense. They are just SO great, I have to knit something out of them. Kinu and Sensai from Ito are such a candidate. Both yarns are a dream on their own, but when they form a team - holy moly!

Sandra for example has designed two years ago our Mother's Day shawl Carla with this combo. And two weeks ago I had already shown you very briefly the SEON Kimono from aegyoknit. But it deserves to be presented again in more detail.

I see myself on the beach

Knit this summer light dream is crosswise from one side to the other. I find that extremely charming. It's just something different! Through different knitting patterns such as half brioche or patterns of knit and purl stitches, the kimono gets a great structure. You can style it casually and wear it for example on the beach or combine it chic and enjoy your Aperol at the hotel bar. I myself see myself walking around on the beach with it, barefoot, hair (skillfully!) disheveled by the wind ... yes, yes, is such a case of "I probably have to knit"!

À propos feather-light dream: We have a dream there too. Light as a cloud. Fluffy. Original Maschenfein: the Wolken sweater (Wolke - german for cloud). Marisa had to knit it down "just like that". From Cashmere Dreams by Lang Yarns. The balls were in the office and just looked at them with big eyes.

Luckily for you, Marisa couldn't resist the looks and created a simple, loose raglan sweater that's off the needles as fast as it's on. That's because you're knitting five stranded with size 10 needles.

Knitted clouds

The sweater is designed in sizes XS, M and XL - each with a positive ease of 20 to 30 cm. Depending on the size you need 10 to 13 balls. This is of course expensive. As an at least somewhat cheaper alternative, we recommend Sensai from Ito (thus closing the above circle). It is difficult to find a completely suitable replacement for Cashmere Dreams, because the structure of the yarn is quite unique and the feel is simply the character of the cloud sweater. But with Sensai , you can get very close to the original!

See me on vacation

... or Cheeky Merino Joy.

Quite apart from the fact that I hang out on my phone too much, these days I find myself opening an app more and more often that counts down the days until summer vacation. I just feel so much like having sand under my feet, the sound of the sea in my ear and "just looking at the water". Denmark, see you soon!

Perfect for the pre-holiday head cinema fits there with me the FREESTYLE sweater from Paula_m. Whether I already roll the color cards? Oh yes! The problem? There are three different yarn options. So the decision is difficult, although I feel a slight tendency ...

What would be your favorite?

Susanne tested the design on the following three yarns and found them to be good: Como by Lamana (dark blue version), Cheeky Merino Joy by Rosy Green Wool (brown version) or Softyak DK (seen here in light brown) by Rowan. All three have special characteristics. With Como , your sweater will be light as a feather and fluffy, with Cheeky Merino Joy, the garnment will be flowing and a bit thinner, and with Softyak DK, due to the cotton content, it will be a bit heavier and a bit stiffer.

Well? What would be your favorite? I'm leaning towards Cheeky Merino Joy, though I have some appreciation for the other two choices as well. Also, Como is one of my favorite yarns. Difficult! While we're all still pondering, a quick word about the knitting: The sweater is knit seamlessly top down. First, shape the neckline using short rows, then knit in rounds and work raglan increases for the body and sleeves. Then you finish knitting body and sleeves separately in the round.

Such a bag always goes

If you still need time to think about it, you could stitch the LANTA Bag from Susanne in the meantime. This is very fresh on the market and in any case ideal as a small in-between project.

The design was created on the Thai island of the same name and has the vacation feelings kind of directly knitted in. Matching the summer you will find in the kit the pure linen yarn Lino from BC Yarn, which is processed here twice. We are waiting for supplies for a few colors, but there are a lot of beautiful summer colors! The knitting is done in a lace pattern from the bottom to the top.

Shirts, shirts, shirts

Suri Shirt V Neck
Timelessly chic: Suri Shirt V-Neck.
Photo: © Caidree

Already a few weeks ago the Suri Shirt from Caidree went online. We have put it up for you with Tussah Tweed from BC Yarn. Alternatively, you can knit it now with a V-neck. This version was made by Sabina, who is behind Caidree, from Puno Winikunka by Pascuali.

Knit in rows and in the round top down. So you can flexibly adjust the length of the shirt. On the picture you see the shortened version, but the pattern also contains a longer version. The positive ease is 10 cm. So measure in any case before you decide on a size.

Sweet little things from Kleinigkeitenliebe

Already a few weeks ago I wanted to show you the dress Wiesenblume of Sharon Maninger. I find that just so over cute! Fortunately, the little daughter here is already big enough and the first size should fit her.

You knit the dress from the bottom up, so first the skirt with floral pattern and then the top. Here you work in rows in contrast to the bottom part. In the kit you will find Sole from Pascuali. I've taken this yarn to my heart not only because it was used to make the baby blanket for my daughter, but also because it's a great summer yarn: 90 percent cotton and 10 percent cashmere are not too warm, but so beautifully soft - just great! And by the way: Sharon has released an add-on for the dress with a different pattern for the top and an alternative crochet edge. Also very pretty and you can find it here.

After the KAL is before the KAL

ellie summer top
Perfect for summer: Ellie summer top.

Also a few weeks ago I had announced the Knit Along to the Ellie Summer Top from Rust Knitwear. Feel free to still join in the fun! You can join for example on Instagram (all info can be found in this highlight) or you join the German WhatsApp group (then please once here). You can get the knitting kit with Pure Silk from Knitting for Olive from us - as well as the single pattern from Simone.

You have never participated in a KAL? Then here are the most important things in a nutshell: In a Knit Along, you knit (virtually) together on a specific project or with a specific yarn. Thanks to the internet, you can exchange ideas at any time. Often, KALs have a time limit, but you're done when you're done. And they're the perfect excuse when you need to squeeze in a project ("I'm sorry, honey. I had to buy this wool. I have a KAL waiting for me.") The important thing is that you're confident and have the necessary authority.

New and old from Laine

As promised above, there are other novelties in the Maschenfeinshop besides the knitting kits. Among them is the book Textured Knits from the Laine publishing house.

In the book you'll find 20 timeless designs with interesting textures, including cardigans, sweaters and socks. The designs combine different ways of knitting textures. These can be cables, multiple colors, embroidery work or lace patterns. Sometimes they are worked as a detail, sometimes they decorate the entire design. Variety is guaranteed!

I also recommend you to take a look at our sale corner. In addition to the 15th Laine issue, we also have Crochet Crush and Stripes (all by Laine) on sale. I've been eyeing Crochet Crush for so long - I think this is it!

Feel like crocheting?

You are skeptical about crochet? Then I recommend our new inspiration crochet happiness, which Saskia has written for us last week. I'll tell you this much: It's worth it to work with only one needle!

I also want to recommend the latest edition of our blog series "Designer of the Month". For this I had an online appointment with Melanie Berg aka mairlynd. Our conversation just flew by. Melanie had so much to tell, it was so nice and never trivial. Click here for the article Melanie Berg: uncompromisingly cool.

Maschenfein knitting round

As you can see, there's a lot to read today. And to watch. But there's something to be said for a slow start to the weekend, isn't there? So let's quickly take a look at our knitting round.

Andrea is done with her stole Zoe, our Mother's Day design this year. Here Merino Baby was on the needles, together with Cashmere Dreams from Lang Yarns.

At Angelika 's you can see the Küsel shirt from our current test knit. She worked with Bio Balance from BC Yarn and Silky Kid from Kremke Soul Wool. The pattern will be published next week!

Louisa is knitting two tops right now, including the Brit top from the latest Lamana magazine. This is where Cosma comes in handy. The blue, darlings, the blue!!!

At Judith 's you can see the finished June Top by PetiteKnit, knitted in two strands of Pure Silk by Knitting for Olive. Louisa and I also have this on our needles. For our Knit Along on the topic "Melange Effect". You can already tell: KALs are a great excuse!

So I have a mission for the weekend: to continue knitting the June Top. And dream about new projects. And stitch something. Sometimes it's really good to be unreasonable.

Have a great weekend!

Franziska

Dear Sophia,
thank you so much for this comprehensive Saturday coffee! I enjoy every Saturday morning with it with my coffee - currently on the balcony overlooking the greenery. This is my little time out to start the weekend with - as meanwhile my husband goes shopping with their 2 year old daughter. A rare moment of peace with wonderful inspirations. Thank you for this, every week again!
Love, Franziska

Sophia
