Michelle Obama recently said the magic four words in an interview: "I am a knitter."("I am a knitter.") That warmed my heart right away. So Michelle knits too (we know each other, of course, just for inf0 ;-)). Apart from the fact that this hobby would also qualify her for the presidency (I'm only mentioning the calming factor here), it also shows that knitting no longer has a dusty image. On the contrary!
So a wonderful good morning to the Saturday coffee with one or the other Michelle Obama factor - because this woman just has a very special style. But it will also be Christmassy. Because as if anything would keep me from Christmas anticipation on the last weekend before the first Advent. Nah, nah, nah!
Chic for the feast
Admittedly: You have to like Anne-Sophie Velling's style. It is often opulent, playful and not stingy with one or the other flourish. But what can I say: I like it. And knitting with the Dane is definitely not boring.
Also this year she has published a dress design for the holidays - for all who want to sit chicly in knitwear under the Christmas tree. Jule has already created the matching knitting kit for you from Snefnug and Midnatssol by CaMaRose, you just have to decide on a color.
Want some glitter?
Augustin's No. 27 gets its charm from an interlocked rib pattern and lots of ruffles. To show off the individual parts of the dress to their best advantage, work with different needle sizes. For the extra glitter factor, you can also run a thread of Stellaris from Kremke Soul Wool if you like. Personally, I think a glitter thread never hurts. Just like glitter in general doesn't hurt.
Also note that the top is open to the beginning of the skirt. Depending on how you spend the holidays, you can wear, for example, a chic blouse underneath. But I do not want to tell you - you celebrate the feast of love as you like. <3
There are several pattern for the sweater in the booklet. As kits you will find the versions from Børstet Alpakka and Kos - you decide for yourself whether you want to knit top down or from bottom to top. Louisa is in any case already hooked and I'm also considering whether the children's version would not be something for the son. My big dream is that the whole family will be sitting under the Christmas tree one day in Christmas sweaters they've knitted themselves. Hach. Since spills me directly the Herzlein over.
Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, ...
But you can also make the following sweater wintery: The Cecilie Skog Sweater by Sandnes for mom and child is already a real classic. And with the right choice of color for the yarn (namely Kos), you can really set off the fir tree pattern on the yoke. How about a nice shade of green, for example? You can check it out on Louisa's Instagramfeed. And be seduced like me to knit after. The model I have namely unlogen so long on the list - maybe I should just give in to the desire?
Big, small - you decide!
But if you find knitting large projects too stressful now, you don't need to worry about supplies on the needles either. I can understand if you prefer to work on smaller projects to achieve success more quickly in the face of hustle and bustle.
Super suitable for this are felt slippers like the Tova Twist Tøfler from RilleRuth. Knitted in Fritids yarn from Sandnes, they are a great project for in between. They are knit from the heel forward, first in rows, then in rounds. The twist is knit as a long tube, which is then sewn to the slipper. In the end, of course, you will have huge slippers, which will then go into the washing machine with full intention. After the wash you pull the felted slippers into shape, let them dry, ready.
Modified you can also find the slippers as large felt stockings, which you can hang in front of Santa Claus. You can find the kit for the Twiststrømpa here.
Also from PetiteKnit there is a tutorial for a Christmas stocking - supplemented by the idea to embroider the name of the owner or the owner. I think this is really great and am already working on a version for the kids. Please this way for the kit to the Christmas Stocking.

You can also find small projects in the Sandnes Christmas booklet that we have in stock again. In Tema 69 you can find everything from gift tags to cozy blankets and children's sweaters. It's worth it - we promise!
Two more projects, then we'll have a chat
Before I tell you the latest of the latest from the maschenfein Wichtelhauptquartier (ui, ui, ui!), I have to quickly get rid of two projects. If it's just not enough for you to make angels and candy canes.
The Uma Skirt by Millefryd Knitwear (the pattern are unfortunately only available in English, but you can do it!) you knit top down with a stockinette stitch cuff and the skirt itself in a rib pattern. After intensive consultation we decided to use Merino 120 from Lang Yarns. The yarn has the sturdiness to withstand sitting down and standing up multiple times as well as a wash.
A German tutorial - and what a tutorial! - but you can find the Hack it Sweater from the already above mentioned RilleRuth. The Norwegian has designed a sweater that you can modify with many hacks.
The basis for everything is a top-down raglan sweater. You can leave it as it is or modify it. For example, how about a cuff that is longer in the back than in the front? Or balloon sleeves? Anything is possible! Just keep in mind that the amount of yarn in the kits is enough for the basic version. If necessary, increase the number of balls in your shopping cart. By the way, we have set up different kits for you, so that you can easily change the feel.
Secret Santa cap on
But now. Now I'll put on my Secret Santa hat (did I ever take it off?!) and tell you a little something. Next weekend is the first Advent. And there it goes directly with a really nice Maschenfein action. More about that in a special newsletter and in the next Samstagskaffee.
And after that, yes, after that comes December 1 pretty soon. And what does that mean? That's right, Advent calendar. We have it again this year. During the week every day and on the weekend for Saturday and Sunday together. So you open door by door and can look forward to so great things. For example, a few discounts here and there, small goodies and fine products.
To make sure you don't miss anything, I highly recommend our extra newsletter for Advent. You'll receive it every morning free of charge in your mailbox, so you'll know right away what to expect on that day. Subscribe quickly here. And pssst: All Advent newsletter subscribers receive a one-time shipping voucher that you can redeem until the end of December. For orders with international shipping the shipping costs will be reduced by 4,90 €.
Maschenfein knitting round
Well, are you all tingling already? We certainly are - even though we know what's coming. But it should be nice and everything should work out and you should like it. Hach - this anticipation!
So let's take a look at what you are knitting to pass the time until Advent. Judith 's is for example the Sophie Scarf by PetiteKnit made of Como Tweed by LAMANA and Sensai by ITO. A real quick project!
At Knitting Feeling, Anne Ventzel's Nice Shirt is finished in Puno Winikunka by Pascuali. This yarn is so great - have a look in which knitting kits it appears everywhere. There are also wintery designs ...
Sibel has cast on her third (!) Kolding by ChrisBerlin in Premium Cashmere by Schachenmayer. Her third. I haven't finished my first yet, but am hell-bent on having it off the needles this year. Take my word for it!
At Tanja 's you can see the cardigan Rebel by Angelina Zimmer made of Alpaca Blouclé by Kremke Soul Wool, which she knitted for our maschenfein showcase. It's a simple piece, yet one that will elevate any outfit. Bouclé yarns are great for winter anyway, and with the lack of colors, we're expecting supplies in December.
I for one am now saying the magic four words "I'm buying wool", er, "I'm a knitter" and wishing you a wonderful weekend and much anticipation for all that is to come!
