Cold, colder, warm, warmer, no colder again, yes, warm, hot.... "Chocolate!" Or here even more "yay, a gluten-free Easter cookie"! I'm really looking forward to the search for Easter eggs tomorrow, because with her now four years, even the smallest Miss this spring will definitely find the search very, very exciting.

Little Miss? You read correctly, here writes Marisa for a long time again a little coffee, I wish you a wonderful good morning for Saturday coffee on this Easter weekend, with a little this and that from the knitting world and around Maschenfein.

During the Knit Along is before the Knit Along....

... or: the girly virus is raging.

It's a well-known fact that we in the Maschenfein team are excellent at getting our spirits up. If one of us says "you could..." or "do you think x goes with y" or "I've knitted a sample for z" and it doesn't take long for at least two of us to start a joint project. The others then follow suit at the latest with the first picture. The rocking story of the girly virus began with the following, supposedly harmless WhatsApp message:

"Marisa, I would knit the Girlfriends from 6/28".

Sandra via WhatsApp to Marisa, March 29, 2022

This news was probably a bit hard for Sandra. A Girlfriends Cardigan made of cashmere 6/28 - is that still pure knitting love or is it crazy? Surely you know it too, when you just can't let go of an idea, a project, a wish. You think about it when you go to sleep, you think about it during the day, and you always come to the same conclusion: I would just love to knit that, with exactly that yarn. Sandra had been pondering for many days, talking to her chicken knitting group and wondering if she could really tell me about it. The thought wouldn't let her go and....

... me in the coming days either:

Girlfriend in cashmere is now also not out of my head. Very bad. What color are you knitting?

Marisa via WhatsApp to Sandra, March 31, 2022

Yes, it was a stupid question, I admit. Blue of course, so "cosmos" in this case. So I started to push the colors as well. From the drawer to the maschenfein dresser, to my knitting chair, to the desk. I decided on "rose quartz," which went beautifully with my Salma, heck, my entire closet, will match.

On Instagram, one of my followers told me that my first Girlfriends cardigan from Piura and Premia took a bit, let's say "longer". But you know what? That doesn't bother me and I love it so much! The second one may also take a long time, the prospect of a different colored girly and then also in cashmere 6/28 already makes me all tingly. And since we're not knitting alone, it's great to cheer up and motivate each other along the way.

Of course a cardigan made of Cashmere 6/28 does not fit into every budget. That's why we have the right knitting set for everyone and packed different variations for you: From Piura and Premia from LAMANA (my original variant and already very well tested), from Compatible Cashmere double yarn from KNITTING FOR OLIVE, from Compatible Cashmere combined with Soft Silk Mohair from KNITTING FOR OLIVE or just our variant from Cashmere 6/28 Organic from PASCUALI.

A small hurdle I still had to take, of all the color rose quartz was completely sold out and should come in according to Pascuali only at the end of April again. I was saddened, because if an idea stands times, one would like to needle finally also s-o-f-o-r-t yesterday. So I desperately turned to Paul Pascuali:

Hi Paul, can you find somewhere by chance still 13 or 14 balls Cashmere 6/28 in the color rose quartz? I want to knit a Cardigen and it should be absolutely the color, but I can not wait until the end of April....

Marisa via WhatsApp to Paul, April 8, 2022

Three days later, Paul had the color rose quartz sent forward from Italy just for me. That's what I call true empathy among knitting lovers. Today, the yarn should arrive with me and is then parked directly in the basket next to my Salma cloth and stroked and - of course - also knitted directly.

If you want to know more about Pascuali and especially the Cashmere 6/28 I recommend our two most popular podcast episodes 2 and 11. Pure knitting love, I promise.

Do you also feel like a Girlfriends Cardigan? Louisa, Sibel and Silvie are already part of the party. Whoever wants to, is welcome to join us!

Summer yarns for dreaming and knitting on

The temperatures mean well with us and even if the five ice saints in May should pay us another visit in the form of briefly falling temperatures and ground forest, we peek despite great cashmere 6/28 love already with an anticipatory tingle in the belly in the fingertips on a wonderful abundance of summer designs.

After all, we also knit in the summer! And you? In any case, our winter yarns are already moving together a little as a precaution to make room for the most beautiful summer and year-round yarns.

Last week, we have freshly cleared all the colors of the Cotton Merino from KNITTING FOR OLIVE for you last week (and we also cleared out some colors for the especially fast sniffers among you). The Cotton Merino is a wonderfully fine, soft yarn made from 70% cotton and 30% guaranteed mulesing-free merino wool, which gives it a lovely elasticity. You can knit it into garments of all kinds on about 3mm needles. It is especially suitable for the transition between seasons, but also for light baby blankets and accessories.

Cotton Merino from Knitting for Olive

Jule wouldn't be Jule if she didn't start posting the first matching knitting sets right away. I was particularly taken with her selection of the Bean Sprout Bloomers. In the process, I was shocked to discover that I am so slowly creeping out of baby knitting. Instead, I must now daily iron defend my closet and sort the particularly delicate knits to gaaaanz far above. Yes, I'm even thinking about a lock.

But back to the Bean Sprout Bloomers: I'm considering pinning them on quite quickly for the transition. Could the smallest Fräulein namely just still great wear over tights. The pants are knitted top down, with a few short rows for the diaper bottom. The subject of diapers accompanies us certainly still into the summer, so last chance, I would say ...

When it comes to first person knitting, for me and the big missy (ha! knit-one-for-two) I have the Samsø Sweater on the never-ending-knit-list, in the colors Soft Rose and Ocher Brown. I really like the wide sleeves. Knitting stripes is also always nice and fast, I say to myself, and that Samsø is knitted from the top down, of course, I like very much.

For those who especially love a challenge aka variety (I'm thinking of you, Heidi, for example) we've created the Seleste tee created. It's worked top down with an exciting hole and burl pattern in the yoke. The pattern are only available in English. Designer Sari Nordlund has other tutorials that are well worth browsing. You may know her from the Laine Magazine No. 6for which she also made a model with the Poet sweater which she also designed a model with a sophisticated pattern for extraordinary knitting fun. And also in the Third Laine Magazine Sari was already represented. If you enjoy patterns, be sure to check out Sari on Ravelry. Foxberry Would I also like and is worked from Merino and Soft Silk Mohair.

But I was after all mentally heading towards summer. Another shelf we have just equipped with the great yarn Løvetand from CaMaRose.

If you are already planning your wardrobe for the high summer, you might fall in love with the color world of Løvetand, Trine simply has a knack for special yarns and beautiful colors. Løvetand is a 100% linen yarn made from organic flax fibers with a yardage of 140 meters per 50 grams. You knit it on about 3.5 to 4mm needles to a gauge of about 21 stitches per 10 centimeters. The construction of the yarn makes it look much softer than other linen yarns, because it consists of a very thin thread knitted into a tube, which gives the yarn an almost airy structure.

What you could knit from it? We rummage of course currently already diligently for you for beautiful designs. On Ravelry I have just discovered the Slanting Slip On by Anne Ventzel from Løvetand on the needles. I like the idea very much!

New designers at our knitting sets

In our section of knitting sets there has been a lot going on in the last few days, it's really worth to have a look there regularly. Sometimes I'm amazed myself and can't get out of browsing, because Jule is just so in the flow. How we get the ideas is always very different. Designers also like to get in touch with us themselves. Of course, we always look very closely at what might suit us and you and then decide very individually. When Sharon aka Kleinigkeitenliebe wrote to us the other day, we were immediately in love with her enchanting pictures and first designs. Since this year, the 37-year-old teacher now writes knitting pattern and I'm sure there will be one or the other magical part in the coming months on us. The first two knitting kits for Sharon's designs from Snefnug from CaMaRose and Heavy Merino from KNITTING FOR OLIVE you can already find here, you can buy their patterns at Ravelry.

Many growing Salma shawls in the Maschenfein knitting round

Our Mother's Day Knit Along goes now on the weekend already in the final spurt, where you must please just not let yourself be stressed and may also like me relaxed knit behind. I'm still in the second part and needle there cozy the triangles further. I show you from time to time on Instagram in our Stories.

But there are also particularly nimble Salma knitters among us, Sanlein is with your neon variant quite far ahead and has already cast off. Great class and insanely great color choice! Claudia has chosen autumnal colors and is a bit more comfortable on the road, so currently exactly in our time window.

On the left is a picture of Wiebke's two-color version, she is knitting in So Kosho and is already quite far, the triangles can't be counted, I would say: also on the home stretch.

I hate Picots chose Kosho, joined later, but is now knitting as she writes "manically" and catching up rapidly.

Photos: @claudia_knits and @needle_magic_jessy

Claudia is currently knitting besides Salma also five Honey Pillows PETITE KNIT, I like the colors very much. Would also fit perfectly on my maschenfein armchair.

On the right side of the picture you can also see Jessy's colorful Jim Sweater from LAMANA Cosma. Pure striped love.

We wish you a wonderful Easter this long weekend! Get cozy, knit some rows and if you like, listen to our podcast episodes and give us feedback here who you would like to hear in a new season.
