{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

Take: A (new) knitting project, the appropriate accessories, the not-so-necessary accessories, you own anyway because it's so nice, a (of course nice) project bag, snacks, drinks - ready is the equipment for Worldwide Knit in Public Day!

What's that, you ask? It's the holiday for all knitters, so to speak. Today we go outside with our knitting and show everyone how beautiful the most beautiful hobby in the world is. Super beautiful, it is. And diverse. But before you go outside, we'll have the obligatory cuppa to fortify you. A wonderful good morning to you!

Bags, give me bags!

Earlier in my life as a non-knitter, I had quite a problem with buying bags. I was constantly lugging them around. Fortunately, I've gotten over that phase. I'm still a big fan, but now I prefer to knit (and crochet) them myself. This is much more fun, is much more individual and totally decelerates the process.

But since I still have a trained eye for bag designs of all kinds, Longboard by Emilie Luis of course immediately caught my eye. The design is conceived in two sizes, one with handles and as a clutch. For the smaller version, we've given you the matching snap closure right away. You can put it in the shopping cart directly in the kit.

Super summer yarns: cotton & linen!

As yarn you will find in the Kit Line from Sandnes. The quality is rightly very popular, especially when it comes to summer designs. It knits great, has many great colors and a pleasant material composition (53% cotton, 33% viscose, 14% linen). The price is of course also a reason.

Super piece for the summer: Clover Tee.

The fact that you are now discovering more and more knitting kits with it has a lot of good reasons. That's why the Clover Tee by Lene Holme Samsøe has just arrived in the Maschenfein store. It's just such a beautifully simple shirt - made for summer and for knitting beginners!

customize length

The shirt is knitted top down. The yoke is decorated with a fine lace pattern, but - as I have perceived Lene's designs so far - it is certainly very catchy. The rest is then knitted in stockinette stitch. This needs some patience, of course, but always goes well along the way. And: You can adjust the length of torso and sleeves according to your ideas.

More than popular: Tiril's summer set

At the risk that you already know the designs: I think Tiril's summer set from last year can not be emphasized enough. With shorts, shirt and sweater from Line you are simply well equipped for everything that comes in the summer. And finally, finally, finally a large enough stock of the magazine has arrived in the warehouse. At Sandnes, they obviously didn't expect how popular the designs would be. But the presses were running hot and magazine and yarn are ready to go!

From light to heavy

If you're already browsing, be sure to check out the other cotton-linen yarns from Sandnes. There is also Tynn Line and Tykk Line. So you can choose from a needle size of 3 to 5 mm. With a click on "To all kits with this yarn" you can see which designs we have created with the respective qualities. But be careful! There is a danger of buying! I don't want anyone to write afterwards that they didn't know that.

Knitted ready in no time

Very new to all three yarns is, for example, the Alice Top from PetiteKnit. That doesn't smile at me at all. No, no ... The fact that it is knitted quickly with a needle size of 5 mm is of course also not an argument. Or that you can knit from the center to check the length in between, thanks to the pattern modification. Pfff! For all of you who are as unaffected by this as I am: You can either knit single-stranded with Tykk Line or double-stranded with Line and Tynn Line (in this case, the color Kitt would also be available. No argument here either, of course. Of course not!). If I weren't totally unemotional, I'd choose Ferskenblomst with Tykk Line. But luckily, pink is so not my prey scheme. So.not.at.all. A little tip from the Maschenfein team: If you're as addicted to the melange trend as some of us are, you should choose the Line-Tynn Line combo and combine two different colors.

After all, the great thing about DIY is that you decide what color it should be. Løvetand, the pure linen yarn from CaMaRose, for example, has a fine, small color palette in muted tones. Again, so not mine. No, no.

The yarn fits perfectly with the Peacock Tee, another great design by Lene Holme Samsøe. Half of the Maschenfein team knitted this last year. I was not there because of baby break, but this year ... Oh, I say it like it is: It is already in the shopping cart!

New: Patterns from Miriam Walchshäusl

Wilma shirt

This week there was a new addition to the patterns that you can buy directly in the Maschenfein store: From now on you can get the first patterns by Miriam Walchshäusl aka Mrs. Funnyvalentine in addition to Ravelry. The lady from Freising has some great summer designs up her sleeve: Have a look at the Isadora Top made of Pure Silk by Knitting for Olive, the Virginia Top made of Willet by Quince & Co. or the Wilma Shirt made of Sparrow, also by Quince & Co. By the way, pure linen yarns like Sparrow or the aforementioned Løvetand tend to be rather firm at first, both when knitting and in the finished knit. So feel free to knead your knit a bit in the beginning - you'll see: Every time you wear it, it becomes more supple and is a real blessing in hot temperatures.

Knitting for babies?

Also super fresh in the Maschenfein store are the cute knitting kits including pattern for the baby designs by Yndestrikk. Behind this are two Norwegian friends who have been designing knitwear for young and old since 2018. So be sure to take a look at the matching kits. Who wants to knit for babies, is guaranteed to find something here!

No (small) children to knit for right now, but still feel like a little project? How about the Sola Scarf from Anne Ventzel? The scarf is knitted from one tip to the other and enhances any outfit. It is about 90 cm long and thanks to the wonderfully light cashmere 6/28 from Pascuali also not too warm.

Maschenfein knitting round

The fact that we now have summer and the first vacations are just around the corner or some are already on vacation, you can also see our knitting group. Both here and in the team directly the summer knit has prevailed (what we have on the needles at Maschenfein, you can read here).

At allesnurmeins you see for example the shirt Notice (spring) from Ankestrick from Cumbria by Pascuali. Also such a design yarn combo that has been on my list for a long, long time.

Katrin is already on vacation - and on the way there she had the Watten Sweater by ChrisBerlin from Alpakka Silke by Sandnes on the needles. Color match with the calico project bag - very nice! 😉

Sandra, who had the great luck of Pentecost holidays, was on vacation with her Top Brit from Lamana. And her family, we do not want to forget. And Brit was actually still on the needles - but in the process! Anyway, now the little dream from Cosma is finished and just beautiful!

Maren has knitted the Küsel Shirt in our test. Here was a combo of BC yarn and Kremke Soul Wool on the needles - but we have more ready! Look forward to next week, there will be pattern and the matching kits!

But now it's time to go outside. With knitting, of course. So that everyone sees: Knitting is simply the most beautiful thing! Have a great weekend!

Andrea

Hello-beautiful tops, unfortunately nix for women's sizes XL or XXL, would you have times stylish suggestions?

Sophia

Dear Andrea, the designs I show are usually also designed for large sizes. Of course I understand that the pictures do not represent all sizes - I have to rely on the available material of the designers. In any case, I look at what I might find for the future. And what suits you or not, each wearer decides for herself 🙂 Love and continue to have fun knitting! Sophia

Heike

Hello.A question how do I start a triangle scarf.Could someone help me.Thanks.

Sophia

Dear Heike, it depends on what kind of shawl you want to knit. Some you knit from tip to tip, others start from the long middle. A project suitable for beginners is, for example, this model: https://www.maschenfein.com/produkt/tuch-easy-dreieck-pdf-strickanleitung/ Otherwise, take a look at our shawl knitting kits. Maybe there is something suitable for you: https://www.maschenfein.com/produkt-kategorie/strickkits/art-des-strickstuecks/tuecher/ Best wishes and good luck! Sophia

Jacobite

Great suggestions. You really don't know which project you want to start with first.

Petra

Hello Sophia,

Oh, what an inspiring Saturday coffee again, with a thousand ideas!

A thousand thanks for that! Phew, what do I do first!

One question : could you also take the Tykk Line for the Rivera Bag or would that be too heavy for it?

I wish everyone a nice 🌞weekend

Love greeting

Petra
