{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}
No, this will not be a text about secure pension options in the (hitherto) conventional sense. No, no. What I'm talking about in this Saturday coffee: precise knitting planning with the necessary degree of flexibility to counteract bottlenecks on vacation or in other free time.
Because - as you know: the clever knitter makes provisions! Which is why it makes absolute sense not to work on just one project or - as I do - to start thinking about the next knitting project when the project completion status (PBS for short) is around 20 percent. I don't want to end up with no yarn. Where would we end up!

And even though I always want to ensure variety when it comes to the featured designs and the designers behind them, this week I have to open up once again with Other Loops. I simply can't get past the Tide Loop Top.
Last year, I found it difficult not to pin on the right shirt straight away - the only thing that kept me away from projects that involved "too much thinking" were very mixed nights with the children.
Little trick
Now the nights are only slightly better, but this pattern is not that complicated. Because: Maja has made sure to reduce the purl stitches by turning the top inside out to cast on the right. Simple yet sophisticated.
Knit from the top down. You start with the shoulders and then work the front pieces. Next comes the back before everything is closed in the round. Then continue to the hem. We recommend Organic Cotton from Krea Deluxe as an alternative to the original yarn. Goes wonderfully with a summer top!
Matching accessory
What would a design series be without a bag? Exactly! That's why there's now a new Tide Loop Bag. Bags of (almost) all kinds really do something to me. When ordering suitable yarn, I can always convince myself that it's not really a new project. After all, it's nothing to wear. And yet it knits up quickly (weeks of working on the little Honey Washbag should have taught me otherwise, but what the heck ...).
With this in mind: You knit the Tide Loop Bag from the bottom up. You can choose between two sizes: Depending on which you choose, your bag will end up being approx. 36 cm or approx. 46 cm wide. And perhaps it will house another new project! It's just an eternal cycle ... You knit with Line and Tynn Line from Sandnes.

Knitting striped designs is also a circular process. Who hasn't heard the magic phrase ... "One more stripe to go!" And if they then alternate in width - how nice!
So be sure to check out the Amélie Tee from PetiteKnit. It's a beautiful, nautical striped shirt that - in my opinion - exudes a touch of retro. Incidentally, Mette actually got the inspiration for this model from one of Denmark's many flea market stores. I can only warmly recommend them to you. We go there every time we go on vacation in the north and always find what we're looking for. Really always. My son started his Pokémon cozy toy series in one of those stores!
You knit the tee from the top down with a raglan construction. Short rows form the neck. After finishing the neckline, the front and back pieces are placed on one needle and you continue knitting in the round. As in the original, you will also find Sunday by Sandnes in our kit. And if you fancy the so-called mini me look: The design is also available in children's sizes.

Comfort length sleeves

If, like me, you like to wear three-quarter sleeves, you should definitely take a look at Lotti from Trin-Annelie (although - as you're about to read - you can adjust the sleeve length to suit your needs).
Here, too, you knit from the top down and shape the neck with short rows. The yoke is decorated with a leaf pattern that perfectly matches all the flowering gardens and parks you can see at the moment. The cuffs and hem are finished in a ribbed pattern. You can easily adjust the length of the shirt and sleeves to suit your needs. Just make sure to order more yarn if necessary.
As an alternative to the original, we recommend Cotton Merino from Knitting for Olive, a blended yarn made from 70% cotton and 30% virgin wool. The Danish manufacturer has recently expanded its color palette - in addition to muted shades, you can also find fresh colors such as Japanese Anemone, Blue Berry Ice Cream and Lime Yellow in our store.
Comfort zone or joy of experimentation?
How do you actually handle the choice of color? We have different opinions in the team. Some of our colleagues always stick to their color scheme, while others keep switching to different colors. I myself am undecided. If I open my knitting drawer(s), I would say that everything goes together, but it's not just pink or natural. For example, I'm currently knitting Modena and Piura from Lamana in the color sage.
Either way, the fact that the books and magazine shown above fit together so well in terms of color was really unintentional. There is just such a thing as divine (knitting) providence! All three books are new additions to our store. There are currently only a few of the books in stock, so please put your name on the waiting list in the product. We or our wholesalers will then reorder and you'll have your new after-work read in no time!

Ra-Ra-Raffia from Wool and the Gang has also just arrived in stock. Anyone who has ever worked on summer knitting and crochet projects will already be familiar with this yarn, which is made exclusively from long-fiber wood. We've now been lurking around it long enough and have decided to add it to the Maschenfein store. Mary-Anne is currently updating the kits around the yarn. How about the Riviera Bag from Paula_m, for example? Or the hats ... Click through!
Stitch on the ears
If you've finished reading but would still like something to listen to while browsing: our new podcast episode is here! In it, Marisa and I talk about current knitting projects and the maschenfeine Designschmiede as well as our idea for a new edition of "Wetten, dass ...?".
We also answer some of your questions. We haven't managed to answer all of them, but we've noted them down for the next recording. What does the picture of the pale pink sweater have to do with the episode? It's a test knit for Coco Amour aka Cheryl Mokhtari, which Marisa talks about in the new episode. We love the designer and her ideas - maybe we'll be reading more about her soon, who knows! 😉

Maschenfein knitting round
In the podcast episode, we also talk about Sandra. She has recently become weak twice when it comes to new projects. At least that's how you might think at first glance. Instead ...
![](https://www.maschenfein.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Strickrunde_2-4-1024x503.jpg)
... I can now say that she simply takes good care of herself! After all, a vacation is coming up soon and now let's all imagine what it would be like to suddenly find ourselves without yarn in moments of total relaxation. Terrible! That's why (among other things) the sweater from the Tiril 18 series is on her needles. Such a beautiful piece and I think it could be one of my next projects! Check out her post about it here.
In terms of the seasons, Dagmar is quite a stark contrast. She is knitting the Holly Sweater from Knitting for Olive - a Christmas sweater! THAT is true precaution, I can't say it any other way. Mega!

You can find great outfit ideas on the accounts of unKOHNventionell and Claudia. On the left you can see a Soulmate cardigan by Lisa, on the right the Julie top by Sandnes. As you can see, knitwear is the perfect outfit for any weather!
What will you choose now? As we all know, you shouldn't put off taking precautions 😉 So I hope you enjoy browsing and, of course, have a great weekend with lots of knitting time!

Hello lovelies
Where can I find the white and blue striped sweater that the model with the Lucca Hat is wearing?
Best regards
Gabi
Dear Gabi, it's great, isn't it? This is the Jules sweater - also from Paula_m. You can find the knitting kit here: https://www.maschenfein.com/produkt/jules-sweater-wollpaket/ And if you want a cozy version for winter, then take a look here: https://www.maschenfein.com/produkt/jules-sweater-kuschelvariante/ We also have the single pattern: https://www.maschenfein.com/produkt/jules-sweater-strickanleitung/ Have fun browsing and best regards, Sophia
Dear Maschenfein team!
Thank you so much for the wonderful knitting ideas, great patterns and tips and tricks!
For me as an XXL woman, it would be nice if the pictures also showed the larger sizes. Then I could better imagine whether this great piece would also be something for me.
Best regards
Silke
Dear Silke, thank you for your comment and I'm glad you like the selected designs 🙂 I understand your concern! We have to rely on the photos of the designers, who often photograph the designs on themselves. But you can have a look at the respective Ravelry page. Sometimes the designers add the photos of the test knitters or there are also photos of different women among the projects created. This is not the case with the Tide Loop Top (as an example) because the top is still so new and there are no matching projects (or perhaps because the testers are not so active on Ravelry). Instagram could help you here (if you have an account there). The test knitters often collect sample photos under a hashtag: https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/tide_loop_top/
With the Lotti shirt, on the other hand, projects have already been created and you can see various photos: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lotti-4/people
If you tell me which model you're looking for, I'll be happy to help you find it 🙂 Best wishes and have a good start to the new week! Sophia
Knitting projects on vacation are really a very difficult thing. It usually takes me the longest to pack my knitting bag.
The Cumulus Tee O-Neck (already started), Marie Case and Moby Neck (already started) have now made it for 10 days on Langeoog.
The first one for just knitting away and making good progress on the eternal knit-only rounds. You might also be able to use and wear it when you return.
The second is for starting and trying out something new and at the same time making good use of the rest of the Celeste Sweater. Do I perhaps need to make a few more to give away?
The third is for concentrated knitting and getting back into the pattern. Vacation is just the right time for that.
And so that I always have the right needle size with me, I've packed an interchangeable cable system.
Dear Antje, I can see that you are well prepared! And yes, packing your knitting bag needs to be done carefully 😉 Have a lovely vacation on Langeoog! Best wishes, Sophia
Good morning, I was very happy to see the Lotti Sweater from Trin-Annelie here! I have test knitted the design and love this sweater very much! The pattern are very well written and leave no questions unanswered. The yarn recommendation from you fits perfectly! LG, Bee
Dear Sabine, oh, how great! 🙂 Then I wish you lots of fun wearing it! Best regards, Sophia
