{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

The other day Sandra sent me her very personal knitting melody via voice message. Yes, there is such a thing. Instead of many stitch markers for a still secret pattern, she hums something in her head. As a former choral singer, I really like this approach! And anyway - I can already see the novel titles in front of me: Knitting melody of hearts. Or: Follow your knitting melody. Or (attention!): Lost Knitting Melody.

My protagonists would definitely get such novelistic names as Rosalind McAvery and Philip Brown. The setting is Cornwall and maybe the unpleasant cousin will fall over the cliff - we'll see! But for now I wish you a wonderful good morning for the first Saturday coffee in March!

The first messengers of spring

I myself was now for a long time torn whether I still cast something really wintery on or to feel my way towards spring. I was so long torn that I - no joke! - I actually just finished project after project. And now I was suddenly without any (of course, I'm never really without a project, but you know what I mean).

In any case, the other night I had an enlightment. I was virtually struck by knitting lightning (novel title: When Knitting Lightnings Strike). I'm going to knit the Marta V-Neck Jumper from Lotilda! It's a) a quick knit, b) easy to wear over long-sleeved shirts, and c) matches wonderfully with the outfit I'm planning for a family celebration.

For the design, which you knit top down on approx. 7 needles (title: Fleet Knitting Melody), we have created two kits. You can either work with Midnatssol from CaMaRose (mohair-free, yet fluffy) or with Manada from Pascuali (with mohair, merino, silk and yak). Both yarns definitely have their appeal and especially a nice color palette. Maybe this is one of those pieces you have to have in your closet in two or even three colors. Simply because it is such an uncomplicated basic knit with its boxy cut (kind of A knit for every hour).

Just a small color selection of the Midnatssol by CaMaRose.

Boxy style

By the way: boxy cut. If you have not heard this term until today, do not worry. I only know it because I worked in textile retail during my studies. Those were the days! (Or also: )

Also boxy cut: Everyday Sweater. Photo: © Knitail/ Derako

In keeping with the term, I recently came across the Everyday Sweater from Knitail. The pattern is available in English and Japanese - but luckily you can get a free table with the most important knitting terms in English and German.

The rib pattern sweater, which already has the "for every day" in its name, is knitted top down. As yarn, the designer suggests, among other things, the combination of Merino and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive. You can let off steam with the colors. And you can easily adjust the length due to the construction. The oversized cut also makes it possible for men to wear this sweater.

À propos unisex: Quite deliberately for all genders is the SALT hoodie from Vertknit . Inês designed the jacket with hood and zipper and constructed so that you can choose between different lengths. There should be something for each and everyone.

The jacket is knitted from the top down in one piece with saddle shoulders. The pockets are worked in afterwards. Technically, among other things, short rows, double knit and kitchener stitch are used - so the SALT hoodie is more a project for advanced knitters. For the yarn, we chose Heavy Merino from Knitting for Olive. At this point, Inês would like to point out that the pockets may not hold as much weight with this yarn as they do with the original. But you shouldn't really load up knitted bags anyway.

Mårvej Sweater

Soft Snefnug from CaMaRose is used for another unisex model: the Mårvej Sweater by Andreas Ruthemann. The Fair Isle sweater is knitted top down. The inspiration came to Andreas from the Musselmalet china from his childhood.

The upper part of the round yoke consists of a nice rib collar and the lower part of a beautiful two-color pattern. The contrasting color is worked double-stranded in each case. And I'm sure I don't have to tell you much more about the benefits of the Snefnug . Do I? Well, it's made only from natural fibers, it's soft, it keeps you warm, and it has great matching colors.

Beguiling knitting melody

Comma V-neck

Comma V-neck

Comma V-neck
... and v-neck: Comma V-Neck.

Anne Ventzel is really good at making you forget all your knitting plans. To put it novelistic, she might be kind of like the new girl in Cornwall who disrupts the wedding plans of the local industrial heir, who is supposed to marry the snobbish officer's daughter (and the marriage would be star-crossed anyway, due to the parental arrangement). But then Anne arrives in her Comma V-neck, casual, without any attitude, really likeable and ... Well, all romcon viewers can already guess the ending.

As far as I know, Sandra has the sweater firmly in mind (Update: The wool is already purchased). It was just "bad luck" that she knitted the sample. That's always the first step towards the final purchase decision. To tempt you a bit more, here are the most important facts: Knit from the top down. You start at the shoulders with the back part and then knit the front part directly. Under the arms is joined to the round. Then work the sleeves in rounds as well. The side slits make me all fuzzy. They are just too beautiful! For the yarn you can choose between Heavy Merino and Como Grande from Lamana.

Two more delicacies have to be shown!

Seiser stole great set in scene!
Photo: © Anja Mosbacher-Blanz

Once again it becomes really noble and cozy-soft with our Seiser Scarf. It is the complement to our Seiser Cardigan and is also knitted in three strands from two strands of Cusi and one skein of Premia (both Lamana). The pattern and the matching kit are freshly available this week at the Maschenfein store and my fingers are itching ... I mean, the scarf already looks like a cuddle in the photo - what will it be like in real life?

The stockinette stitch knitted design with icord edges is also the purest mindless knitting project. Pack it, take it with you, knit a few rows, pack it away again ... I have just such a desire to knit - which is also due to the great photos of our model knitter Anja. Thanks for that!

Also from Marisa's pen, but already a bit older, is the Verena shawl from the knitting magazine of the same name. Well, who still remembers the Bayak hype in spring 2017? Your knitting enthusiasm for the shawl was so great that Paul from Pascuali, who was in South America at the time, brought yarn supplies in his suitcase on the way back. For me it was the first shawl with brioche, the first time Pascuali, gosh ... simply unforgettable knitting tunes.

Back to the topic: The yarn is no longer to be produced. This is of course a pity, but has the advantage for you that the remaining stocks are sold at a reduced price. So here you can make a bargain! And don't worry: We will find a nice alternative for the design.

Also from the house Maschenfein: the Verena shawl.

Attention, attention: Franzi-Klee-Slot is coming to an end!

Until Sunday you can order the great knitting accessories by Franziska Klee.
Photo: © Ines Grabner / Maschenfein

Before I let you go into the weekend, here is the important hint that you can only buy our knitted accessories developed with Franziska Klee until tomorrow. After that it will take a little while until the next round of sales.

As always with Franzi, the products are only made after the end of the order round. This avoids production surplus and conserves resources. Franzi and her team make every single piece by hand in Leipzig - as usual from high-quality natural leather that has been tanned on a vegetable basis. During the further treatment of the raw material, unsightly additives such as heavy metals or even plastic sealing are avoided. The result is bags that not only feel wonderful, but will be a loyal companion to you. So feel free to get a second coffee and go browse a bit. I personally like the brown tones of leather very much - which color would you choose?

Maschenfein knitting round

Our knitting round makes it particularly difficult for me today. Or rather, I'm not making it easy for myself by picking out projects that I would like to knit myself. Kind of masochistic or just: Painful knitting melody.

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/lavandula_1 / instagram.com/malila.knits

Lavendula , for example, knits our Snanoe sweater. It simply is beautiful! I rarely knit blue, but this one ... You can see the color Blue Hydrangea at Merino Baby and Manada.

And of course I have ZERO POINT ZERO capacity for an Osaka scarf , but then again, I've only knitted one so far ... and it's been almost two years ... and the color palette of Sensai by Ito ... Great, Verena Mathilde, now I have a problem! 😉 (And you too: Go to the Osaka inspiration here!).

Photos via Instagram: © instagram.com/mimilovesknitting / instagram.com/claudia_knits

No Mindless Knitting, but wonderful half brioche you will find with these two projects: Our freenlancer Mirjam has finished her Never Ending Story Sweater from Paula_m and Claudia is in the middle of the Agnete Cardigan from PetiteKnit. Which I don't see. No, no.(Disdained knitting melody)

Do you now also have as much desire as me to reach for the knitting needles? Then go for it! Have a wonderful weekend and always an unforgettable knitting melody in mind.

Corinna

Hello, it would be nice if the knitting pattern at the knitting kits printed out ( preferably in German).
would be enclosed in the package.
I would have no problem to pay a reasonable amount for it.
The annoying and sometimes unfortunately not possible download would be eliminated and you can start right away with the knitting.
Kind regards
Corinna Niklas.

Marisa

Dear Corinna

Thanks for the feedback, we are already thinking about it. Especially also about making our own pattern available in printed form.

Love greetings

Dear Sophia, dear Maschenfein team,

only today I get to read Saturday Coffee, and what a pleasure to discover my Osaka 🙂 .

In general, the entire article was, as always, pure reading pleasure - especially the Rosamunde Pilcher analogies.
And so many beautiful knitting ideas again. I'll send an order for more knitting time to the universe right away.

Very dear greetings from Madrid!

Sophia

Thank you so much for your comment! And yes, more knitting time I take too! 🙂 Very best regards to the south, Sophia

Arends

With pleasure I look at your report. I like knitting socks myself at the moment.

Martina

Dear Sophia,
Your Saturday coffee was today again a real
pleasure.
You have a wonderful writing style . Thank you for your knitting tunes.

Love Martina

Sophia

Dear Martina, thank you so much for this lovely feedback. I'm glad if you like the Saturday Coffee 🙂 Love, Sophia

Christa

Oh Sophia, the Verena cloth was also my 1st cloth in brioche. Unfortunately Paul didn't have enough yarn in his suitcase at the time. I got a call from the boss -Marisa and we then decided on Nepal.
Times are changing, the personal contact would not even be possible today.
Best regards
Christa

Marisa

Dear Christa, that's a funny message :). I have personal contact with so many of our customers, often on the phone, but also by mail. So times change, but many things also remain the same, because we are still the same. Love greetings, Marisa

Cornelia

Good morning,
Still lying in bed, I look forward to your post every Saturday. Today was a shock as I tried to knit the Marta V-Neck Jumper last year and got totally desperate. Didn't make it and then knitted the cumulus sweater with the wool. But it turned out so great that I inspired some friends to knit it from "top to bottom". I wonder if I should try it again. Find the sweater so beautiful.

Sophia

Definitely try again! 🙂 Sometimes you have to let something sink in and then just start again. Love and have a great weekend! Sophia

Petra

Hello Cornelia,

I can well sympathize with you.

I was the same these days, have 2 x the Olive Cardigan struck and also raised again unnerved.
I just do not get behind the numerous diagrams.

Someday I'll try it again though, the pattern is so great and I can't get it out of my head!

All the best and good luck with a possible new attempt!

Petra

Marisa

Yes... sometimes you just have a knot in your head and try another time. If we can help you in any way, feel free to send us an email! Love, Marisa

Julia

Dear Cornelia,
feel free to try the Marta V-Neck Jumper again! I have already knitted two pieces. You have to find out how the short rows are meant at the beginning, then it's done. The increase not only the neck, as in other pattern, the increase each shoulder individually, that there is a summery neckline.
Love greetings,
Jule
