Hello and welcome back to Saturday Coffee! Admittedly, a few days off were very nice, but somehow something was missing. And that's why I'm now really burning to present you new inspirations around our favorite hobby. So brew a (caffeinated) hot beverage of your choice (we don't want to forget the tee drinkers either) and make yourself comfortable!

I know we're still in August, but I'll frankly and honestly admit that I've almost arrived in autumn knitting-wise. However, the leap from light and airy tops to cozy knits is big - too big, in my opinion. I mean, I don't jump into an unheated swimming pool at 30°C outside without showering. And you shouldn't! This lifeguard mantra really influenced me a lot in my childhood. That's why we're taking it easy on the knitting and ringing in the transitional season with this.

Dear all, here follows a colorful potpourri of pretty clothes that you can still hit for the summer or already for the fall.

It doesn't always have to be new...

Dune and modesty has a beautiful v-neckline. Photo: © Ririko.

Let's start with a design that Ririko has already released in 2019. I wonder why I have not already discovered it for you, because Dune and Modesty coincidentally fits my bill: loose cut, pretty details and yet clean lines - what more do we want?

You knit the cardigan from top down with saddle shoulders and short rows. The designer leaves us spoiled for choice, because the pattern includes two sleeve options and two closure options.

As yarn we recommend Lazy Lion from Kremke Soul Wool. The hand-dyed sock yarn brings colorful variety to the knitted piece. Alternatively you can also knit the jacket with Como from Lamana. But the feel will be much fluffier - a great option for the more autumnal part of the transitional season, right?

The cardigan sits loosely and can be combined in many ways. Photo: © Ririko.

Designs for beginners and professionals

Crab Holes is a great beginner project. Photo: © Hinterm Stein.

Also in the next design we can choose between different design options.

Crab Holes is a simple sweater by the designer Hinterm Stein. Here, too, you work from top down and almost exclusively with knit stitches. If you have never knitted a sweater - dare, the model is absolutely suitable for beginners!

Also at this point we would like to recommend two yarn alternatives to you. The one-thread-in-the-hand-is-all-you-want faction will be happy with Bergamo (Lamana). The I-knit-always-with-fluff fraction will be happy with So Kosho and Sensai of Ito will shout "Here!". By the way, Jule did that, too, and immediatly made up a kit.

Now choose from three body variants and two sleeve options and off you go!

Please do not choke on the drink, but I have to admit, the DECiSiON cardigan of ANKESTRiCK somehow went under my radar. How that could happen, I can unfortunately no longer reconstruct. But now it deserves all the more to be presented! I mean, who does not like braids please?

Anke couldn't decide in the design process how the closure of the cardigan should look like and so she simply integrated two variants into the pattern for us. The cardigan can be knitted without closure and without a collar or we decide for the version with zipper closure and high collar.

Again, knit seamlessly top down. With Sensai and Rakuda from Ito you will get a great result here!

It's the small details

A great play of different yarn qualities. Photo: © Katja Dyrberg.

If you are looking for a sweater that stands out mainly because of the materials used, you have now found it.

The Straight Up Sweater sweater by Danish designer Katja Dyrberg is a classic raglan sweater. The focus is on the yarn qualities that create a subtle and slightly transparent striped pattern.

Take for example Tynn Silk Mohair and Merino Ull from Sandnes. Our support team (support@maschenfein.com) will be happy to help you with color questions, of course!

Oh yes, you also knit this pretty basic piece seamlessly top down.

Socks can also wear patterns. Photo: © Filcolana.

I know some of you knit socks all year round. In principle, I also do so, however, I had to realize that I havent cast on for really long now. That should change in the fall at the latest!

What do you think of this pretty footwear of the Danish designer Rachel Søgaard? The pattern of Thorsminde is inspired by Dutch ganseys (fisherman's sweaters) and therefore contains mostly knit-purl patterns. In addition, the designer has also worked faux cables in the pattern.

I will use a Krönchengarn for my pair, probably the variant Premium Silk or Premium Merino Yak. Who of you will join me? By the way, you can download the pattern for free on Ravelry.

Season-ending shirt wanted?

For those who want to knit a shirt quickly, I would like to recommend Exuvia from Hanne Rimmen. On the one hand, stripes never fail. On the other hand, this model is an excellent opportunity to take a closer look at the new Pinta quality from Pascuali. Nothing has changed in the composition of the yarn, but you can now choose between many new colors. My favorites for Exuvia are 123 Cloud and 113 Pink.

Back to the model: You knit the shirt top down and thus gets along without sewing. The fit is quite oversized and flatters every figure. The small sleeves are knitted in the rib pattern at the end. By the way, the pattern is free!

Men - this is for you!

In recent weeks, the Saturday coffee had a break, but Maschenfein would not be Maschenfein, if Jule in the background had not tirelessly added new knitting kits for you. Thereby, for example, some great designs for men have made their way into the store.

mille for men
MILLE for men is a classic men's cardigan. Photo: © Regina Moessmer.
Gryten Men's
Gryten is a rugged cardigan in a textured pattern. Photo: © The Weststrand Sisters.

My absolute favorites among them are MILLE for men (Regina Moessmer) and Gryten - Men's (The Weststrand Sisters). MILLE Is actually a plain cardigan in stockinette stitch, but as I always say, it's the details! The shawl collar and pockets make this piece a casual classic. You are working here with Baby alpaca from Kremke Soul Wool - a real skin-flatterer!

At Gryten you work in a zipper, the cardigan itself is knitted in a broken rib pattern. Peer Gynt (Sandnes) provides the necessary grip.

More accessories man needs!

Raise your hand who agrees with me on the following statement: You can never have enough knitted accessories. And the main reason for this is that they can often be quickly cast off and you can devote yourself to the next design.

Sophie Scarf
The Sophie Scarf is a pretty side project. Photo: © PetiteKnit.

The pieces don't even have to include complicated patterns. Like for example the Sophie Scarf. Attentive knitters with Instagram affinity have long registered that Mette aka PetiteKnit has once again whipped out one. Please forgive this choice of words, but I'm always amazed at the speed at which we can admire her new designs.

The Sophie Scarf is a small scarf in garter stitch with pretty edging. With the small size we can also treat ourselves to a really noble material. And there is of course only - you guessed it - Cashmere 6/28 BIO from Pascuali comes into question. The whole Maschenfein team is an unofficial fan club of this quality and you know what? You can get by with just one skein for the smaller size!

Crocheted bags are all the rage right now! I must confess, my crochet skills are in any case expandable, but why not try a new challenge?

The Hosta Bag bag is crocheted from the bottom up. The result is a spacious bag with a height of 66 cm, which through Organic Cotton (Krea Deluxe) guarantees a long durability.

Maschenfein knitting round on Instagram

Once again (or still?) there's a lot going on in the knitwear community. And after a survey-like research I find out: The trend goes away from shirts and towards accessories and warmer garments. At least very gradually. Very gradually.

Two parts from the Instagram knitting round have particularly done it to me.

The Tiril shorts: a stitch summer classic! Photo: © instagram.com/bolerohund.
Everyone needs a French market bag. Photo: © instagram.com/Antares994.

Check out the pretty Tiril shorts from Heidi! We can proudly say we have really infected you with this model. The Tiril Shorts are simply a must-have for the summer. Worn with a light shirt, hach... Back to you, dear Heidi. The shorts look great and they are still so beautifully staged.

In matching colors I would like to show you the finished French Market Bag from Eva. You also love this bag very much. Eva has chosen the matching Leather strap from our cooperation with Franzi Klee. You did a great job with the bag, Eva!

After all the designs, my problem now is this: I need more wool and more time. The first problem I will now tackle forced and go rummaging. And the time... Well, do any of you know a way to store time inexpensively?

Have a great day!

Yours

Gabriele

Hello dear Maschenfein team,

nice that you are back. I am very interested in the Crab Holes !!! Do you have a suggestion for a yarn alternative?

Thank you and have a nice Sunday.

Saskia

Hello dear Gabriele!
You mean a yarn alternative to our wool package that we have put together for Crab Holes? Please contact our support team (support@maschenfein.de), Jule and Sandra have the best overview of yarns and their alternatives.

Have fun knitting!

Annette

Hello, nice to have you back. One question: how many balls of Pinta do I need for the Exuvia shirt in the largest size? Thank you very much. Best regards from Frankfurt, Annette

Saskia

Hello Annette,
please be so good and contact our support (support@maschenfein.de) with your question. Sandra and Jule are our experts on the subject of yarn and pattern. I also always ask there for recommendations, which I then pass on here in Saturday Coffee.

Thank you and best regards to Frankfurt!

Dear all, the pretty striped sweater Exuvia is knitted from the bottom up! But thanks for the tip with the great tutorial!

Saskia

Oh yes, thank you for pointing that out, dear Susanne!
Many greetings!

Ulrike

Hello,
where can I find the tutorial for the striped shirt Exuvia?
I would love to knit the great shirt so much....
Many greetings
U. Martin

Saskia

Hello Ulrike,
the pattern are always linked in the Samstagskaffee. Just click on the highlighted design name in the coffee and you will be taken to Ravelry. Under the general information you will see the note: "This pattern is available for free." Follow the link again and you can download the pattern in English, German or Danish.

Have fun knitting and love!

Sabine

Soooooo glad you guys are back! 😊

Saskia

Thank you, dear Sabine, we are also very pleased 🙂

Martina

I am interested in the "Dune and Modesty" cardigan. Are the pattern not available in German? And I have to be honest, I don't get along well withinstructionsttern from Ravelry....
Are there any alternatives?
Love greetings

Saskia

Hi Martina,
yes, the "Dune and modesty" cardigan has done it to many - including me 😀.
But in fact there is no German version (yet). We at Maschenfein can't offer it without further ado, because we would then violate the copyright. That means, only the designer is responsible for the translation into other languages and can authorize it. If it's the language you're concerned about, I'd like to encourage you to try the English version anyway. My tip is not to translate the entire manual word for word, but to familiarize yourself with the most important terms. At the beginning you can put our translation table(https://www.maschenfein.com/produkt/englische-strickbegriffe-tabelle/) next to it, but I promise you that you will put it aside very soon, you will internalize the essential terms really fast.
For questions about the structure of the tutorial or the construction you can always find nice help in our Facebook group.

Love back!

Eva

Thank you for showing my French Market Bag, dear Saskia! What a surprise, where the joy of having another Saturday coffee today was so great anyway - then to discover his own photo, thank you for the feeling of happiness in the morning 😍
Love greetings, Eva

Saskia

Hello dear Eva,
well, but very gladly - it looks great! I'm also lurking all the time around it... The whole "additional work" (attach handles, sew lining) but still keep me from it. Still. 😉
Love and have a great evening with even more happiness!

Jutta

Dear Maschenfeinteam !
Dear Saskia !

What a surprise ! I would not have expected the Saturday cafe' today at all. With a good cup of Darjeeling tee and some rain that does so well I enjoyed it so much. Thank you for this !

I am especially excited about the pattern for the cardigan

Dune and modesty

What still stops me is that the manual is only in English. Is there a translation for it. Since I am currently so busy at work, I need rest while knitting and translate from English into German is not really easy for me.
a nice weekend and lots of time for knitting wishes
Jutta

Saskia

Dear Jutta,
thank you very much for your nice comment on the first Saturday Coffee after the summer break! You wouldn't believe how happy we are to be back. "Dune and modesty" is also very dear to me (as are so many other tutorials *sigh*). Currently, they are only available in the languages shown on Ravelry. Any translation has to be done or commissioned by the designer herself. That's why we can't offer German pattern for this. However, I really encourage you to try your hand at English tutorials. The trick is not to translate the document completely, but to familiarize yourself with the most common terms. I promise you: After a few rows or rounds, it will slip. And if not, you can find help in our Facebook group 🙂 .
Our translation table can also help you: https: //www.maschenfein.com/produkt/englische-strickbegriffe-tabelle/

Many greetings and you also a nice weekend!

Forest Fairy

Finally Saturday coffee again and again the wallpaper roll has become longer. Crab Holes has done it to me immediately. From Hinterm Stein I have already knitted 1 shirt, I had to really concentrate. This construction was more than extraordinary. But the result was great.
Have still beautiful remaining summer days.

Saskia

Yes, finally we are back! Feel free to try it if you like Crab Holes so much - the construction is not difficult to recreate and promises a relaxed knitting while watching TV, chatting or whatever.

You also still beautiful summer days and many greetings!

Kerstin

Yay, the dry spell without Saturday coffee is over.
You don't notice some dear habits until you miss them. And I missed it a lot. The first cup of coffee on Saturday is usually never drunk without Saturday coffee. Keep up the good work, even if the wool is piling up here and you still can not book knitting time with you 😉. Thank you

Saskia

Hello Kerstin,
thank you very much for your nice message! Yes, me and us have also missed the Käffchen very much. That's why we are all the more happy that we are now back from the summer break! Should you possibly still know a trick to increase knitting time, we are grateful for a tip 😉

Many greetings!

Trixi

Thank you for the nice summer coffee.
Attention for the Sophie Scarf in the SMALL size is enough one skein... for the larger size 2 skeins are given and I think I have used a floppy 5 or max 7 grams of the new skein - maybe you should make it more recognizable... at the price and yet much rest of the 2nd skein I could imagine that one or the other could be annoyed then.
Otherwise an absolute musthave part

Saskia

Hello and good morning Trixi!

Thank you very much for your helpful comment, which I have directly put into action! It's great that we have such attentive readers. Although every Saturday coffee is proofread once, but sometimes we do not see the forest for the trees.

Many greetings
Saskia

Claudia

Petite Knit has a note in the pattern on how to knit exactly 25g. So if you don't insist on the length and don't like scraps this is great 🙂 .

Saskia

Hello Claudia,
thank you very much for this important hint!
Have a nice weekend!
