{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

Now in summer, where soon the first school holidays begin, where vacation preparations start, where the watering of flowers must be organized - inevitably comes the question: Which knitting project will go on vacation with you? Or will there be more than one? You might find the answer today in Saturday Coffee. A wonderful good morning to you! We are making summer plans today!

Super fresh from Maschenfein

I myself am already thinking very hard. So intensely, in fact, that the other day I said out loud to my husband, "I don't even know what my vacation knitting project is going to be this year." And he said (I'm not lying): "How about taking a vacation from knitting?" You can imagine my response.

After we discarded the visit of a couples therapy, because he immediately realized his mistake, I thought about it further and I think a favorite is slowly crystallizing ...

By Ito, Sandnes, pascuali or BC yarn

Brand new this week is the Küselshirt by Marisa published! It takes its name from the horse farm of the same name on Fehmarn, where Ms. Maschenfein has knitted the summer part. Thanks to different yarns you can knit it fluffy, silky, airy-light or a bit grippier. So there is something for everyone!

Knit top down, collar, cuffs and hem are worked in doubleface. The body is formed with the help of raglan increases. The shirt can be worked with or without ribbon. I tend to the variant with ribbon, because I find such a knot on the shirt to the summer really chic!

What would you like?

As always, you can also buy the pattern individually. Either here in the store or on Ravelry. In the kits you will find the combos Kinu and Washi by Ito, Saffira and Manada by Pascuali, Bio Balance by BC Yarn and Silky Kid by Kremke or - knitted solo - Duo by Sandnes.

All the yarns have something going for them. The most summery is the Ito version, Sandnes is something for fresher summer days and when you prefer a little more stand in your clothes. With the fluffy versions, all those who like to have it cozy, but still not too heavy, will be happy. The beautiful lilac shade at Silky Kid is unfortunately sold out, but with Manada and Saffira by Pascuali we have a nice alternative (please select crocus here). Plus: Saffira has a silk content of 25%, which gives the yarn a cooling effect and nice sheen. In the end, only one question remains: Who "küsels" with us through summer?

Also new: Mika Summer Cardigan

It's getting fluffy again (and a few needle sizes bigger) with the new design from Lotilda: You can now find the kit and pattern for the Mika Summer Cardigan in our store. We have created this summery cardigan with Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive. The yarn is available in many different colors, so you can adapt the model perfectly to your closet.

Knit seamlessly top down, this cardigan has integrated sleeves so that the shoulder and sleeve form one piece. First you work the back neck panel and then the back piece. Then knit the right front piece to the back piece, then the left front piece, and work the increases for the V-neck. Under the arms, all knitted pieces are joined. The finish is an Icord.

Prefer stripes?

For those who prefer a variety of colors on the needles: No problem! We have several new striped designs in the store, including the Stripe Hype Sweater by Veronika Lindberg. You'll be knitting with Double Sunday by Sandnes - and you'll have a wide range of colors to choose from. The sweater is knitted top down. The pattern is in English. And yes, the sleeves are long. But - and I don't want to think about it yet - such a summer will pass, right?

Seaside tee
Seaside Tee. Thanks to Line by Sandnes, great color combinations are possible!

Perfect for warm temperatures and also quickly knitted is the Seaside Tee from Coco Amour Knitwear. Here you work with Line from Sandnes. The yarn I had presented to you last week in more detail. It is and remains a summer favorite!

Work the shirt top down in the round. Especially beautiful is the saddle shoulder, which then overflows into raglan increases. Thanks to the beautiful color palette, there are almost no limits to the possible combos.

Romantically playful

Is your vacation knitting list already full? Or are you rather knitters who like it playful and a little romantic? Then I have found something for you: the Summer Blossom Tee by Irene Lin. The designer lives in Taiwan and has many designs on Ravelry - be sure to check it out.

Jule has put up the knitting kit with Organic Cotton from Krea Deluxe. Start at the back. Then pick up stitches at the shoulders for the front pieces. Close under the armholes to form a round. If the upper part is rather simple, the torso and sleeves become very playful thanks to cable stitch and ruffles. Of course, you have to like that - at least I do!

Marilyn Tee
Who else likes all cherries? Marilyn Tee.

The Marilyn Tee from Miriam Walchshäusl is even more striking. Cherry lovers watch out, that's all I'm saying! The sweet little fruits are knitted directly thanks to stranded colorwork. And since you're working with the pure cotton yarn Alba from BC Yarn, it's really a great summer piece that just makes you want to spend extended hours in the sun in the garden. The top-down model is inspired by Marilyn Monroe and I can really picture her in it.

Something for men?

Who likes it now neither frilly-playful, nor fruity, but instead something for men: Here you goooo! We have just put up the Introvert Sweater "Inside out" by Andreas Ruthemann. The comfortable men's sweater is knitted top down from Høst by CaMaRose and Bergamo by Lamana. You will need the latter for the rolled edges. Please note that Høst can shrink up to 10% in the washing machine. So knit a little bigger if necessary or - this is what I would do - wash by hand. This is also good for Bergamo as a merino alpaca yarn.

I've been a fan of this yarn for a long time, even though it "only" plays a minor role in this design, of course. But that's not a bad thing. Høst is a great main yarn. Take a look at the different shades of mottling. How beautiful are they?

Webtalk

Before it goes for you now hopefully soon to the knitting needles, I want to quickly chat a bit of this and that from the knitting world. At the end of the month, we'll be having another round of sales with our Franziska Klee knitting accessories. So mark your calendars for June 29. Also, something has happened in the area of embossing. You can already look forward to that!

Emmanuel tee
Available for free for a short time: Pattern for Emmanuel tee.

Who also always wanted to knit something from kolibri - by Johanna: Now is your chance! The designer celebrates her birthday and on the occasion of her special day all of her own patterns on her website and on Ravelry are available with a 25% discount until June 25 (no code needed here). Until today at noon (so you have to hurry up a bit) the pattern for the Emmanuel Tee is also free. You can find all information about the code in this post. The matching kit is already created for you with the pure linen yarn Løvetand by CaMaRose.

And then I have something for all those who feel like swinging the crochet hook. Sandra Gutierrez, a knitting and crochet designer from Mexico, has created a Crochet Along to go with her design Vesuvius . Instead of knitting, crocheting will be done together. It starts on July 1.

You have to register on this website for the CAL, there you will also get the pattern. Attention: Everything is in English, but maybe one or the other dares. I myself have made the experience that it is with English crochet pattern as with English knitting pattern: google the appropriate abbreviations and then just dare. You never stop learning!

Crochet with Suave from Pascuali, we have created the matching wool package for you here. The Vesuvius Shirt is worked top down and has a great construction. The textured knit is light and airy and perfect for summer. It has two slits on the sides that are neatly finished with a pretty edge.

Maschenfein knitting round

But finally we go back to working with two needles ;-). Slowly the feed of our knitting round is filling up with summer impressions. I can not get enough of nature at the moment and therefore prefer to stay outside. Gladly knitting, of course.

You can see a striped Küsel shirt from the ITO yarn combination at Cor. As you can see, the design can also be modified for striped lovers.

Jule was able to use the Worldwide Knit in Public Day last weekend for knitting. On a train ride, the Sophie Scarf was cast on from Kaos Yarn 's pop colors. And probably also bound off ...

Stefanie knits her Marea Camisole by Gudrun Fesl from Sole by Pascuali. I really like these textured patterns. So be sure to check out our now numerous knitting kits for summer tops - there's bound to be something for you!

And because I had raved to you last week again about the Tiril shorts (do you all have a pair now?!), here comes a jumpsuit for variety. Ruth is showing off her Heikeding by knit.ding from Duo by Sandnes. Our kit is designed for the shirt version (because you get two pattern in one). If you want to knit the jumpsuit, just increase the number of skeins in your shopping cart.

So. How's that vacation knitting list coming along? Tell us in the comments, which project may accompany you on vacation. Because vacation from knitting - that just doesn't happen. Have a great weekend!

Hedwig

Thank you for the Saturday newsletter, since Corona he accompanies me through the week and inspires many ideas.
But I have a question... I like to wear shirts and sweaters with wider neckline (and in cool weather with cloth). How can I redesign the many great pattern (topdown) so that the neckline is larger?
Maria's Küsel shirt looks great and would be at the top of my todo list if it wasn't cut so high. The Edie shirt by Isabelle Krämer is already the third time in work, because this is just optimal for me.
Otherwise I feel like many others, the wish list unfortunately does not grow proportionally with the evening knitting time, thanks again for your weekly input.
Best regards from the Vogtland

Sophia

Dear Hedwig, please excuse me. Your comment slipped through my fingers. Unfortunately, I can't give you a general answer here. You can certainly modify one or the other model, but of course this also changes the character of the knitted piece. You might be able to knit the Küselshirt without the doubleface collar, but I can't give you any guarantee that it will "look like something" in the end. Maybe designs are something for you, where the collar is knitted on afterwards. And I'll see if I can find designs with a wider neckline for the next Saturday coffees. Many greetings and continue to have fun knitting! Sophia

Dear Sophia,

This newsletter will be my downfall at some point....
Actually, I had already written down my vacation plans (as always from the category "how to plan 6 projects for 4 weeks of summer vacation, even though you actually know that realistically you'll never manage more than 1.5") but the Emmanuel tee is now throwing that all over the place again. Mhm.

But I'll definitely start with a Robinia Tee (from Sandes Sunday) because I want that un-un-absolutely. So, as soon as I have finished my Cumulus Blouse O-Neck. There's only half a sleeve and 30 cm of body missing, so high time to think ahead. LOL.

And then? Emmanuel tee? Küsel shirt? Lemon Spritz from Olive Knits, this year's 4 day KAL project? Summer Dahlia Solo? Just not coming back from vacation and knitting EVERYTHING?

I think I'll just wait for the next 4 newsletters (and finish knitting the Cumulus O-Neck blouse and hit up the Robinia shirt) before making a decision, I'll throw that all out the window anyway.

Love from bed with cup of coffee - my Saturday morning Saturday coffee ritual
Tina

Sophia

Dear Tina, finally a response to your lovely comment! I'm glad that you obviously do not feel differently than us 😉 For example, I have just packed a basket, but am now already thinking again to knock it over 😉 And yes: The Küselshirt I also absolutely need! And the robinia tee. Or the light sweater?! Let's see! Love and continue to have fun with Maschenfein! Sophia
