You remember my workshop in the Snuggery at DaWanda? We have knitted together a headband - the pattern I have of course noted for you and here it finally comes.
For a headband you need a ball of Cusi from Lamana. Since it is knitted two-threaded, you must either wind from one skein two columns, or order two columns. I had of course in advance diligently wrapped, after all, I have since my last birthday this gorgeous winder, I let no opportunity to wrap pass!
So you need:
- 50g Cusi from Lamana
- 5mm knitting needles (we got the nice bamboo needles from Addi for the workshop)
- Wool needles for sewing the ends
Gauge: stockinette stitch (double thread) 16 sts and 18 rows = 10x10cm
Pattern:
Cast on 20 sts with two threads at the same time.
Knit 1 row purl, but here and in all further rows always knit the edge stitches in purl (this creates a knotted edge).
Then knit straight right for approx. 23cm. So always alternate one row right and one row left.
The braid part follows:
Row 1: Knit 4 sts garter stitch, then place 4 sts on the auxiliary needle in front of the work, knit 4 sts garter stitch and then knit the stitches from the auxiliary needle garter stitch. And once again place 4 sts on the auxiliary needle in front of the work, knit 4 sts in right and then knit the stitches from the auxiliary needle in right.
Row 2: purl all sts (again except for the edge sts).
Row 3: knit all sts garter stitch
Row 4: purl all stitches again (except for the edge stitches).
Row 5: Slip 4 sts on the auxiliary needle behind the work, knit 4 sts, then knit the sts from the auxiliary needle in the right. Repeat the whole process once more, then knit the last 4 sts in rows.
Row 6: again purl all sts (except edge sts).
Now continue knitting in a plain row until the entire headband is about 49cm long.
Loosely cast off. Sew together.
Done. Have fun!
Many thanks to Lamana for providing the yarn and to Addi for the knitting needles for all workshop participants at DaWanda!
