Yes, maybe the sky is cloudy in your area today. Maybe it will rain. But (!) we won't let something like that spoil the start of the merry month of May. After all, we have been pandemic-tested for over a year. A few rain clouds don't shock us!

On the contrary, we spend rainy hours knitting on the sofa. After all, the spring wardrobe needs to be supplemented by one or the other pretty piece. So welcome to Saturday coffee on May 1, with lots of blissful knitting inspiration and of course net talk. Because what would we be without a little knitting gossip, right?

Bye bye Sleeve Island

Stripes always go, but you already know that... And Anne Ventzel (left) and PetiteKnit (right) know it too, of course.

I'll be honest: I'm definitely one of those who doesn't like knitting sleeves. I don't find them difficult to knit, especially since I discovered these short circular knitting needles from Chiagoo (once inspired by Mrs. Maschenfein herself). No, no. I simply lack the self-discipline. Which is why a project often sneaks in before the sleeves on the old project are knitted. But I digress...

...what I actually wanted to get at: Short sleeves are the salvation for knitters like me! Sure, you have to pick yourself up once, but then they are really knitted quickly. And if then still a design with stripes comes along: "Hello", I say there only!

Those Danish girls!

"Hi there!", I also said to the two shirts above, for which Jule has directly created knitting kits for you. Maybe I'll meet one or the other of you right at the checkout? I find Nice by Anne Ventzel and the Friday Tee by PetiteKnit very tempting. As so often when it comes to designs from Denmark or Scandinavia in general.

Knitting is done there as here top down. For Nice we recommend Puno Winikunka from Pascuali, double held, as a counterpart to the original yarn. Fine detail is in this design the shoulder seam pushed forward, so that this is also really nice to see.

At PetiteKnit you will find in the kit Sunday from SANDNES. The Friday Tee is the little sister of the sweater of the same name and is also knitted in a broken rib pattern. Such a simple pattern with all the greater effect for it.

I can of course sleeves

The Basic Genser made from Tynn Line and Tynn Silk Mohair.
Photo: © SANDNESGARN

During my investigative research for this Saturday Coffee, I didn't come across any mask scandal or diesel exhaust affair, but I did come across two free manuals from SANDNES. I would say: Let's take them, too. It doesn't always have to be the big political scandal.

The Basic Genser is knitted from Tynn Line and Tynn Silk Mohair - a really nice combination. As so often with SANDNES, you knit from the bottom up. And yes, the pattern are rather short, as usual, but our Facebook group is always happy to help if you can't see the stitch for the needles - and vice versa.

Also knitted from the bottom up is the Lillians Jakke is knitted. The yarn is Kos, so it's nice and airy, but warming at the same time. It's knitted on 4.5 mm needles (provided you have a gauge!), so you'll be on your way pretty quickly. The pattern is worked in half brioche. Looking at the finished model, I would possibly knit the cuffs in a smaller needle size, because I usually find that nicer. But you would just have to try it out on a sample.

Old treasures rediscovered: the Anna Cardigan by Pam Allen.
Photo: © Maschenfein / © Pam Allen

Sometimes you rediscover old treasures. A good example is the Anna Cardigan by Pam Allen from 2014 (that was before Corona, just FYI). Marisa wore it on a podcast recording the other day and then spontaneously decided with Sandra that we should add the yarn to the store. Just for this cardigan. What else can you say than: "What must, that must!"?

The Anna Cardigan is just perfect for everyday life and is knitted top down in garter stitch with raglan borders. The sleeves are worked in rows and then sewn. The jacket is suitable for beginners - so feel free to follow the English pattern. (EDIT: we now even have the German translation for you! Just send us a proof of purchase of the originstructionsttern and we'll send you the translation for free) By the way, the yarn used is Piper by Quince & Co (50% mohair, 50% new wool). Like all Quince yarns, it comes with a beautiful color palette - and makes you want to start knitting! If your favorite color is already gone: Don't worry, we'll reorder!

Vreeni Socks
Maybe I will become a sock knitter after all...
Photo: © rosa p.

Socks or scarf? Accessories always go!

Lately I feel a real desire to knit socks. The feeling is strengthened by the new model of Rosa P. The Vreeni Socks are started at the toe with a double-sided gauge and have a delicate lace pattern. The shaft is short (good for me) and can be worked with or without ruffles (or as my son would say, "With none!"). In the kit you'll find the original yarn: Pinta by Pascuali. I tell you: so beautiful! That silky sheen, gorgeous. Perfect for spring.

At this point, you know the saying "What doesn't fit, gets made to fit?" That's how we feel about our Luna shawl. Some time ago Marisa had a few balls of Midnatssol on her desk, which she spontaneously knitted (two strands) into Luna.

However, the gauge does not come here, because it is smaller than in the original. The solution: The shawl now gets one sequence more to reach the corresponding size. We are still working on the pattern, but feel free to contact us at "support@maschenfei.de" if you have any questions about the pattern. In any case, you can find the kit here.

Since yesterday you can also buy the book 52 Weeks of Shawls by Laine in the store - maybe one or the other of you already has it in her hands today, if you have pre-ordered it. You can also pre-order the eleventh magazine of the Finnish publisher, with eleven great designs for spring and summer. Take a look at Ravelry. All designs are already there. As always with pre-orders, everything you order with the magazine will be shipped on the day of publication - in this case May 7.

I wonder what Lisa is knitting right now?

Although we don't have an analog showcase, we would like to show you as many designs as possible. This is also made possible by our commissioned knitters, who glow their needles and share their progress with you. Lisa, for example, is currently knitting something summery from ITO's Kinu for our #maschenfeinesschaufenster . We'll tell you what it is very soon - we promise!

Kinu was also one of the yarns for this year's #muttertagsmysterykal. Christin is probably already knitting the third part of the tutorial. I think her color combo is just mega. And then I was delighted when I spotted the neighbor's sweater featured in last Saturday's Coffee at Ani 's. Knitted here in double Midnatssol - also so great!

You can also see a really cool piece at Sonja. She knits the Mave's Jacket from Sharins. Maybe I'll introduce it to you next week. And Jule makes me spontaneously want to go on vacation. With pleasure with the shown Cumulus Tee from the Pinta by Pascuali.

And what are you knitting this weekend? Sleeves? Or maybe our shawl Carla? I will definitely do that. But only the second part. But you know: The way is the goal!

Have a nice weekend and have fun knitting!

So, early duty is done...nu I'm flat and browse in the Saturday coffee. I really like the Anna Cardigan from the Piper yarn. Such beautiful colors. How good that I have nothing to do with the English pattern... otherwise I would have to order the yarn urgently.
So I continue to knit Carla for now.
Have all a nice 1.May🐞

Sophia

I'm currently also knitting diligently on the Carla and look forward very much to the finished cloth. Best wishes and keep up the fun with your knitting! Sophia

With pleasure I always read "Maschenfein" In the Saturday Coffee I saw the cardigan "Cardigan Bramsche" with lace pattern. I would like to reknit it. However, my place of residence is in Switzerland. My question; Is it possible to get the knitting pattern (size 42) of course against payment?
I would be very happy to receive an answer.

With a spring greeting from Switzerland

Keep up the good work 😊

I have not looked now...but the pattern are certainly available in the Maschenfeinshop as a download with or without yarn and maybe also on Ravelry?

Sophia

Dear Margrit, unfortunately this is difficult. As a customer from Switzerland, you can order from us via "My Shopping" (we explain this in more detail here ), but unfortunately this is not possible if you only want to buy a tutorial. However, you can get the pattern for the cardigan via Ravelry. Have a look here. Greetings and a good start into the new week! Sophia

Angelica

I look forward every time totally to this post! Then I really sit with a cup of coffee and read, grin, marvel and hit me inwardly on the fingers, so as not to immediately order something again, but three projects on the needle and the wool for two more is already...... not to mention the existing stock from pre-Maschenfein times. And then there is also a podcast; hach, I am so glad to have discovered you. As they say in English: You made my day!

Sophia

Dear Angelika, that's exactly how I imagine it: That you make yourselves comfortable again and browse through the Saturday coffee. And be reassured: I have to brake myself again and again. Because otherwise no project will be finished 😀 Have fun with knitting and with Maschenfein! Sophia
