I came across The Fibre Company yarns in my Instagram feed last winter. I don't even remember which project or who. I clicked through the website and the beautiful pictures on Instagram and was already captivated by the images and the story behind the company. Then at the trade show in the spring I took a closer look at the yarns and couldn't help but order to try them out a bit.

Each yarn in itself has a very special blend of fibers and all are equally beautiful. Today I would like to introduce you to The Fibre Company .

American-born and founder Daphne started producing her own yarns 12 years ago in the USA with a spinning mill, which she came to rather by chance through her great passion for knitting, which in turn she also discovered only in adulthood. She now lives in northern England (Cumbria) from where she runs her business and develops all new yarns. You can listen to her whole story in the Woolful podcast, where Daphne talks for a whole hour in a very detailed and exciting way about her career and the ups and downs or the various changes of direction of the Fibre Company.

Her great passion for fibers can be felt in each and every one of the very carefully put together yarns. They combine a wide variety of fibers and cover a broad spectrum of desires and preferences. A new Fibre yarn can take a good two years to develop because the combination of fibers is so carefully chosen. Daphne is not about following trends.

Every single one of your yarns is special and you will feel that when knitting them. They all feel just wonderful and you want to cast on right away and not stop at all. I am very happy about this new partner and I am really proud to expand my assortment with these beautiful yarns.

I'll start here at Maschenfein with three grades from Fibre Company:

Cumbria Fingering Fibre Company

Cumbria Fingering is a blend of virgin wool from an English breed of sheep, merino and mohair. With a yardage of 300m on each 100g skein, it is suitable for lighter clothing and accessories such as scarves, of course. Knitted, the yarn gives a very clear stitch definition, you can use it for both plain knitted projects, but also for stronger textures like cables and co. In my new shawl book, which will be published in September, there will be two pattern. But even now you can find some nice ideas. For example, Melanie Berg's ginger shawl is made from Cumbria Fingering.

Luma Fibre Company

Luma I have already presented to you several times in my Instastories. Consisting of plant fibers (cotton and linen) mixed with wool and a little silk, it is a great summer and year-round yarn that really knits away like "butter". I already have two ideas ready for Luma, namely the Anker's Summer Shirt by Petite Knit and YOKI by Regina Mössmer. Luma has a yardage of 125m per 50g and a gauge of about 21 to 23 stitches.

Road-To-China-Light

Road to China Light is absolutely not to be surpassed in its softness. Honestly! When you hold it in your hands, you will not want to let it go. Always carry it around with you. It is so incredibly soft, light and cozy that it is hard to describe, you have to try it yourself. I could just carry it around all day as a skein and enjoy this fine blend of alpaca, camel, cashmere and silk. Road to China Light has a yardage of 145m per 50g and perfectly suited for stitches around 24 to 26 stitches per 10cm. You can use this yarn for fine cardigans as well as for beautiful, cozy shawls. For example, you could knit the Whippet with Road to China. Or Mince or Imany. The colors are all beautifully rich and lustrous, I love this yarn so much and look forward to my first projects with it.

These three yarns you can find now in the store, almost all colors are currently available and more beautiful ideas I deliver to you in the next few weeks, of course. As always!
