After I had fallen in love with a beautiful triangle shawl from Madelinetosh the other day and then also stumbled upon a super nice pattern, I went pregnant with a new shawl for nights. So when the yarn arrived, I couldn't wait to test the patterns.

Walker Treasury of Knitting Pattern MusterI really wanted to knit this cross pattern that I discovered on Instagram. It has now become a slightly modified version, in that the background (you see it with the blue crosses below) is striped. It's a little hard to explain if you're not in the pattern. On the one hand I wanted to avoid threads on the backside, because it should be a shawl and look nice from the backside and on the other hand I wanted to continue the threads of the different colors always on one side, which leads to the fact that always an even number of rows per color has to be knitted. Anyway: The cross pattern was fixed.

However, I don't want it to be a pure cross pattern shawl. I imagine that the pattern is interrupted by a knit of the same color. So I pondered in front of me, whether I should knit these wide colored stripes probably smooth or garter stitch?

So I asked my husband.

"Mmmhh, yes... nice" he murmured. Without understanding, but interested with effort. He could not share my euphoria somehow so at all. I, on the other hand, was completely blown away by the cross pattern and wanted to start immediately.

"Yes, which do you find most beautiful, the smooth knitted one there, or the curly knitted one?"

"Uh" uncomprehending look... everything looks the same, was written on his face. So "that one" (garter stitch) he would find better, the other (stockinette stitch) would look so self-knitted.

Uh.

Huh? Self-knitted?

I have decided in any case, you may be curious. I am in any case!

And poof with it to the RUMS.
