So I am ready. For the summer, for an Aperol (I can't take more), for olives, balmy barbecue evenings. For colorful fairy lights on the balcony or in the garden, for lazy Saturdays on the couch. Of course, a knitting project is always welcome - that's for sure. With me, however, now really only summer knitting comes on the needles (So probably. One should remain open). Welcome to a summery Saturday coffee, of course with cardigan option and iced net whisper!

Good News first

Hach, friends of yarn - our new arrivals are so great. For example, Studio Linen by Erika Knight, Silky Kid by Kremke Soul Wool or Loch Lomond by BC Yarn.

Let's start directly with good news: We have added a huge amount of new yarns for you! In our virtual wool shelf you can now also find qualities from Kremke Soul Wool and Erika Knight and we have also increased the BC yarn assortment. I'm definitely on the verge of an okay-buy-ban-I-can-start-in-July moment. When I get a chance, I'll also tell you more about the individual manufacturers. Because did you know, for example, that many qualities of BC yarn are eco-certified? Or that the color palette at Erika Knight is not chosen without reason? Stay tuned - there's a lot of reading and listening fodder planned for the summer!

Back to the inspirational part of Saturday Coffee. As always, of course, summer knits are what you make them! What is the light top for one, is the mohair yarn in summery colors for the other. Again and again we have received the question, for example, when we will be Silky Kid from Kremke Soul Wool. What else can I say except: Now! The first knitting kit is also available right away, namely the one Marta Jumper by Lotilda, which I immediately want to knit in this color combination (heather and light camel).

As we know it from Lotilda, this design is also an oversize model. Knitted is four-thread and stockinette stitch top down.

Will you come to Italy with me?

Really mega, I just have to say that, I find for quite some time the Siena Bag from Paula_m. Crocheted, not knitted! But as I said before: You should keep an open mind and I would love to crochet our new addition Papyrus, also from Kremke, into the same bag. We still have to wait a bit for some colors (the pandemic is unfortunately not over, just because we can drink our Aperol in the beer garden again). But you can already rummage around and I'm thinking hard about one in green-grey. Siena Bag in green-gray.

Vreeni Blouse
Fresh from ITO: the Vreeni Blouse.

Also fresh in the store is the knitting kit for the Vreeni Blouse by Rosa P. (you can easily order the pattern in the knitting kit). The top-down model is knitted in stockinette stitch on the body, while the sleeves are adorned with an exciting but easy to follow lace pattern. What I especially like are the airy sleeves, which are tight at the cuffs. This is always a real eye-catcher! Knitted with the ITO yarns Washi (paper, viscose) and Sensai (mohair, silk). A great combination!

With the Zipper Jacket Jule has been waiting in the wings to start knitting since Mette revealed the first details on Instagram. Now the time has finally come: You can now find the jacket, which is knitted top down and closes with a zipper, as a knitting kit in the store. We recommend the BC combination Loch Lomond and Silky Kid. The cardigan is thus rather nothing for the summer, at least not to wear, but who starts knitting now, has a really cool cardigan in the fall in any case.

Tops always go in the summer!

Hach, summer tops. I want to knit you all! For example, the Camisole No. 4 or the Simplistic Rib Cami.
Photos: © My Favourite Things / © Lia Lykke

Since I'm in #teamsummerknit right now (at least in most moments), I want to recommend the following two designs to you: the Camisole No. 4 from My Favourite Things Knitwear and The Simplistic Rib Cami from Lia Lykke.

The Camisole No. 4 is knitted top down in a broken rib pattern. We recommend the pure silk yarn Jaipur Silk Fino from BC Yarn. The light sheen makes the top particularly noble. But also possible is the Summeruld from CaMaRose.

The Simplistic Rib Cami is also knitted in rib pattern (but not broken). As yarn you can take here like in the original also the Duo from SANDNES. The yarn is 55% wool and 45% cotton, so it's a little warmer, but still very soft and good to wear in the summer. And now imagine all of us in these tops lying on a lounger, the aperoil in hand, hach ...

You can also crochet your way to the sea ...

Speaking of daydreams: A customer recently told us what she had bought wool for - namely for this great project: Starting in January, the Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden will be transformed into a small coral reef. This is a participatory art project in which everyone can take part. Until the end of November you can send in your self-crocheted corals. The pattern are linked on this page.

Personally, I also had a brief gasp the other day when I saw what Dane Camilla Vad is tinkering with. She is knitting a summer version of her famous magnolia design from double Tynn Line from SANDNES. The model is going into testing soon and let me tell you: anticipation! And then a few weeks ago in Saturday Coffee I introduced you to the shirt After Beach presented. Now there is a Knitalong for it. Maybe one of you wants to join in? As yarn we recommend the Pinta from Pascuali.

And you? You are busy as always. Francesca for example knits the Anna Cardigan (color is San Angelo - just great!) and Daniela shows the finished April Cardigan from PetiteKnit with a different color. Sometimes it is so simple and yet effective!

Kathrin has finished the Mother's day shawl Carla and I just remembered where I still have to sew some threads ... And Anja shows you her Beautiful Smock Sweater from CaMaRose. If he is looking for a new home: I would take it!

To be on the safe side, I'll continue knitting myself for the time being. There are truly worse things. You in any case a nice weekend with lots of sun and knitting time!

Dear Maschenfein team/Dear Sophia, it's always a pleasure for me to read Saturday Coffee (written by someone from my birthday town, to boot). It always reads like sitting with a good friend and chatting about the best hobby ever. Look forward to a new issue every weekend. Finish my coffee now and browse through the many new wool varieties now available in the store.

Sophia

Wonderful 🤩seit a few weeks I start the Saturday in bed with a coffee ☕️ and Saturday coffee and net talk. I then always have a lot of fluff in my head and think the whole weekend which project will be my next😂😂😂😂 At the moment I'm pregnant with the hat Cambodia and the top Camisole No.4 😉🙃 color coordinated would be but the blast for this summer
I wish you all a nice weekend and see you next Saturday 🥰
Love from Birgit

Sophia

Dear Birgit, fluff in the head we all have - and therefore basically too much on the needles 😉 And the combination you suggested sounds really very good! Love greetings, Sophia
