A wonderful good morning to the Saturday coffee with a little this and that from the knitting world and around Maschenfein. Yesterday I asked in my Instastories if you would like to see spring knitting here already. Or if the weather is still too gray for you and your thoughts are still wandering around hats, scarves and winter yarns. The answers were surprisingly balanced. From summer knits and cotton thoughts to gloves and heavy yarns... so today there's a colorful mix of beautiful things that have crossed my path and that we could perfectly cast on right now. Included are some news from the store!

The brand new book by Cecilia Campochiaro - "Making Marls " - deserves to be presented here right at the first place. Like the first book "Sequence Knitting", it is an incredibly comprehensive work, which this time is dedicated to the topic of "colors". For all those who like to deal with really well-founded and "technical" topics around knitting, the two books by Cecilia are a real delight. There is hardly any other knitting book that deals so systematically with exactly one topic.

"Making Marls" loosely translates to making multi-colored yarns. While Cecilia explored knitting textures through simple repetition of stitch sequences in her first book "Sequence Knitting", in her new book she deals intensively with working multiple threads of different colors into textured and colored fabrics whose effects can vary extremely due to the different combinations. The book is a rich reference on the subject of multi-threaded as well as multi-colored knitting, contains over 30 knitting pattern and can serve as a basic book on color theory for designers and knitters.

By the way, Cecelia lives in Silicon Valley and has spent many years there developing special microscopes for the production of computer chips. If you would like to get to know her a little better, listen to the Woolful Podcast from 2015.

Rike from Rosa P. has designed a great sweater that we could hit Snefnug immediately, on the spot. It would fit soooo beautifully! Hach! The sweater is called "Eezra Sweater" and we have already provided the matching wool package for you here. Eezra is an oversize sweater and is knit seamlessly top down with raglan edging. The high neckband (you can't see it so well in the pictures here, you'll see it better in the wool package) is first cast on provisionally and then folded inward and knitted together at the cast-on edge. For the hem cuffs, work the front and back separately with short rows. The pockets are knitted separately and then sewn on.

Two beautiful designs from My Favourite Things - Knitwear here knitted by Lia Lykke. On the left the Cardigan No. 5 combined with the summer top Camisole No. 2, which you can also see on the right side of the picture. You can find the pattern for Cardigan No. 5 here. It is knitted seamlessly top down in the brioche pattern and you can use Sandnes Tynn Silk Mohair two-threaded.

The pattern for the Top Camisole No. 2 can be found here. It is knitted in rib pattern from the bottom up and there is really not much to it, so it goes quite quickly. BC Bio Balance goes great with it, a blend of wool and cotton. Attention, you must make a stitch test, the needle size is with 3mm ininstructionsttern rather too high. LAMANA Modena would also fit well, but then a little warmer on the skin - a mixture of merino and cashmere. Such beautiful colors! And also a perfect fit would be Rowan Summerlite 4ply pure cotton! Now you are spoiled for choice....

Then I got stuck in the feed of Lia Lykke (if that's not also a clear color scheme) and directly stumbled upon this summery variant of the Cumulus Blouse from Petite Knit. I wear my winter warm variant from our wool package just fresh us gladly, but in the summer I could actually imagine a Cumulus Blouse in this way, knitted from one of our summer yarns super well. You can find the pattern on Ravelry and you could use for the summer version for example LAMANA Ica or (then a little bit fluffy) ITO Kinu with ITO Sensai.

If you like to have something warmer on your needles, you could knit the Camille Cardigan as shown in the left picture with a mohair yarn. The pattern are here in English and you could combine ITO Rakuda with ITO Sensai, a really dreamlike and already much knitted combination. LAMANA Como and Premia would also fit - sooo beautiful colors!

You already know the Robin Sweater. We have the matching wool package from SANDNES Sunday already in the store. Susanne aka Paula knits has adapted the pattern a bit (airier neckline) and knitted right in the picture in black from LAMANA Como - hachz!!! You can findinstructionsttern (also in German) here.

I would have really loved to do another Instagram round with you through our #maschenfeinstrickrunde and celebrate the start of the Knit Alongs worthy. But the smallest Miss is teething and will not let me write more in peace. So I join her and wish you a wonderful weekend!
