What could be better than knitting right now? Exactly! A wonderful good morning for Saturday coffee with some thoughts, a little this and that from the knitting world and very, very many ideas for knitting projects that can perhaps accompany you a little brighter through the upcoming, exhausting weeks.

The most beautiful knitting ideas for the Corona weeks at home

I got an email yesterday titled "Corona Knitting Projects." Britta is one of those moms and dads who will need a lot of good nerves over the next five weeks. Spending five weeks at home with school children who would most like to get out, would love to see their friends and now also have to do without any activities is indeed a previously unknown challenge.

It's just not a vacation, but a self-imposed house arrest that we should all follow as much as possible. Your mail was followed by other messages on Instagram with the desire and the question of Corona projects. In the coming weeks, you want to fall on the sofa in the evening and only knit. What else is left to us, after all, hardly... Restaurants, bars, cinemas... either closed, or even if not, not a good alternative. Britta wants "a light project that accompanies me through 5 weeks of chaos".

So for our little coffee today, we made sure to have a good mix from easy to complex. After all, the children (it can't be emphasized often enough) don't have vacations, but rather, in the best case, a curriculum for home that is well organized by the respective teacher. Our school has actually already prepared grandiosely.

We also show you a few more complex projects, if you want to bring your head in the evening again so right on other thoughts, or without children spend the weeks at home and need some variety next to the work in the home office. Besides, you can find us almost daily in the Stories on Instagram!

Knitting for good nerves

Knitting could now be the best salvation not to lose your nerve. Aren't we really very lucky with this hobby? Maybe you are also beginners, then start right now! So even for the beginners among you today there is a swing of inspiration.

The Osaka Scarf is our mindless-knitting project number one. Since we even knit it in rounds, it's even easier: the p-e-r-f-e-k-t-e side project. Our replacement for the obligatory sock project, since we don't knit many socks (yet) and love wearing scarves so much. Pick up, continue knitting stockinette stitch, lay down, pause. All without thinking. Well. Almost. The difficulty with Osaka lies in the choice of colors. But we are happy to help you there. I think Sandra has the most beautiful color combinations in her head by now, haha. Or is already dreaming about it! In the picture above on the left I am wearing color package 5. Sandra is wearing color package 1 in the picture on the right and has chosen the colors 347, 324, 325, 326, 692, 328 for her second OSAKA!

The best knitting project for "on the side

Osaka is such a super great side project, it could grow rapidly during the Corona vacations. I imagine Osaka knitting during homeschooling to be just dandy. The kids are happily calculating away, I'm knitting with relish and nodding encouragingly to them every now and then. Yep. That's how it's going to be.

You can either buy the OSAKA knitting kit in six predefined color combinations, or you can choose the color package 7 and then write us your five desired colors in the comments field when ordering. We knit with ITO Sensai, one of the softest and most beautiful mohair yarns available. Included in the kit are the pattern (you only need them for the number of stitches, we will just knit up), but we will not knit back and forth as described ininstructionsttern, but close directly after the cast on to the round. You need a circular knitting needle 3.9mm (ITO) or 4mm (other manufacturer) in length 60cm and you're ready to go.

Our top idea for really super cozy knitting with yarn not quite as fine as OSAKA's is the Water shawl in Snefnug. Mega. Really! I'm almost tempted to whip it on. The Water shawl is called a Water shawl because it's originally knit from Wool Addicts' Water yarn. And when a customer was looking for an alternative the other day, we remembered Snefnug, which we haven't had in the store that long, but love very, very much.

Snefnug firstly comes in beautiful colors and secondly its construction and texture is just so great. With Snefnug, alpaca and merino fibers are blown into a fine tube of cotton. 100% natural, super lightweight, nice and cozy. Really great.

You can find the knitting kit for the Water shawl from Snefnug here and you will need a circular knitting needle 4.5mm (or suitable for gauge).

Finally posted the matching knitting kit to the Blue Haze sweater from Quail Studio. I had already linked to it the other day at Samstagskaffee, check it out here, I had stumbled across such beautiful pictures on Instram back then. It is knitted from Alpaca Classic, which I like so much anyway (I love my Margaretas Mama shawl). The brochure contains four great projects from Alpaca Classic and you will find the sizes S to L.

New from Katrin Schneider! We are big fans of her pattern and then also in this yarn combination: big have to have feeling! The Purple Coke Sweater is knitted with ITO Urugami (72% wool, 28% paper) and ITO Sensai (60% mohair, 40% silk). And it's seamless top down with increases in the raglan slants. You can find the wool package for the Purple Coke Sweater here.

Does this sweater look familiar to you? Or would you rather knit something more spring-like? The Purple Coke Sweater is the little brother of the Purple Coke Shirt, which is knitted from ITO Urugami and ITO Tetsu. The wool package for the shirt is available here.

Since I had to look now even briefly, whether we have already created the wool package. We haven't, but we will! But until then, you can read here what you need for the Balloon Sweater from Petite Knit: You can find the pattern (also in German) here on Ravelry. And you can knit the Balloon Sweater excellent double-threaded from LAMANA Piura.

Today I'm really on a roll in terms of variety. Something completely different than the Balloon Sweater is the cardigan Sumile by Eri. You can find the pattern for this delicate cardigan here on Ravelry and you could knit it very well from LAMANA Modena. So this little jacket in the color old pink or basalt blue... sigh.

Same designer and just as delicate is the Himmeli sweater. It is worked top down with a round yoke, the fine lace pattern is knitted in single yarn, the rest in double yarn. You could knit Himmeli with ITO Kinu and ITO Sensai. You can find the pattern here on Ravelry.

To the ears - The new Maschenfeine podcast is here

On the ears from us this week is the very first episode of our brand new, own (!) Podcast "Only one more row". The Maschenfein podcast! We were so excited when we finally went online on Thursday with our first episode, which we recorded Wednesday night. For so long, the thought of having our own podcast had been buzzing around in my head, as I'm an absolute podcast junkie myself. Finally, we've done it. You can hear what we're up to with this podcast and what the first episode is about here on Spotify or (finally) here on Apple Podcasts. Or simply here on the web.

Maschenfein Knitting round

There is really much, much going on in the Maschenfein knitting round. A small, now large Knit Along around the Love collection from ANKESTRiCK is underway. The Big Love, the Great Love, the Long Love and the Little Love. Of course you can join us anytime, Sandra talks a little bit more about the Little Love Cardigan in our podcast.

Louisa is wearing her Girlfriends Cardigan for the first time in a long time. An incentive for me! Because three times you may guess what exactly my long-term UFO is.... I also reveal in the podcast...

Madam Maje has prepared a beautiful combination for OSAKA. Hach!

And finally, two beautiful scarves from the Maschenfeinen knitting round. On the left the classic: Hinata from Ankerstrick! And on the right Margaret's Mama by Mareike.

I wish you a nice weekend. Stay healthy!
