A wonderful good morning to the last pre-Christmas Saturday coffee with a little this and that from the knitting world and around Maschenfein. Yes, Saturday Coffee is taking a little Christmas break and will be back for you in the new year with fresh ideas and inspiration! In the meantime, the Maschenfeine video tutorial advent calendar continues and Maschenfein remains active all around!

Saturday Coffee 146 Blog

Behind the scenes there is a lot going on, because December is of course one of the most turbulent months in the store. Many Christmas gifts are bought (the proportion of male customers increases enormously :)), many kits and wool ordered, which are still quickly processed into Christmas gifts and very many of you stock up properly for the Christmas vacations / vacations.

And that is now my cue: I do that with the "cover up" myself of course! I've already mentioned a long time ago between the lines that I'm planning a cozy project for the holidays and this will be it: the Fletteponcho in dark blue, the tutorial was translated again exclusively for Maschenfein. Anyone else up for a Christmas vacation poncho? Sometime between the years, I'll cast it on quite comfortably and probably it won't be finished during the vacations, because time is always too short then. My yarn is already ready and in the poncho fits even the round belly quite a while.

In addition, I'm planning a doubleface baby blanket with a rabbit pattern, as you've already seen in this video, but I've chosen it as a long-term project, because it has to be finished in the spring. For this blanket I finally tried the pure merino yarn from the Baby Smiles series by Schachenmayr, which Tanja already recommended to me at the last fair. I have to say this is really, really great. It is machine washable and (!) dryer safe, very elastic and also mega soft and skin-friendly. The Baby Smiles series is explicitly for knitting baby things and therefore the perfect yarn for my big project, the doubleface baby blanket. You can already find the yarn in all colors in the store. There are small balls of 25g, one of them is already enough for a little hat.

By the way, there will be another video on the topic of doubleface in my video tutorial advent calendar tomorrow, rejoice.

ANKESTRiCK has already produced another great design (help, my knitting list stretches to infinity), which is still in the test phase. The tutorial will be online before Christmas and you can already see more of the Girlfriendcardigan in the test group. Directly at Anke 's site you can also see many pictures. Isn't it sensational?

And look please, how pretty is Noux by Suvi Simola? Seems to be even German-language the manual, if I see that correctly?

I also found a pair of heavy, beautiful mittens in my Ravelry feed: the multicolored "Shortest Day" mittens by Susanna Winter. I actually like mittens better, but there's something about really nice heavy mittens, especially with color patterns!

As always, if we can help you choose beautiful yarns, just email us!

Oh there are also a few more new knitting kits or wool packages here wandered stealthily into the store. For girls, for example, the Aurora sweater (2 to 12 years), for boys the Kaptein Cardigan (2 to 12 years). And for "us" a cozy at-home tweed cape.

Also, the quick info that a big batch of new project bags has migrated into the store! Black is already out of stock again (gross!!!), a few bags in the color nature are still in stock and ready to ship directly for Christmas. Matching the Minuk project bags there are also the accessory bags in black and in nature brand new in the store!

I wish you a knitted, cozy weekend, a wonderful 2nd Advent and look forward to a fresh Saturday coffee in the new year! Store and blog remain quite busy active, only the Saturday whispering takes a breather.
