All sweaters and cardigans that I have knitted so far for the Miss, the Prince or me, I have knitted from the top. I know there are knitters who prefer the very classic "flat knitting" with seams. But I hate sewing pieces together. And I find knitted from the top pieces so great because you can see very quickly where the journey is going. But how do you actually knit a sweater from the top? Nina from Knit Knit Berlin shows you the simplest version - the raglan-from-the-top - in a video course at Makerist. These classes are really great made! Beautiful backdrop, very calm atmosphere and perfect camera angles to make knitting along really easy. You really feel like you're sitting in Nina's studio. You can now win this beautiful course together with a complete material box from me!

Learn to knit raglan from the top

The principle of raglan-from-the-top is quite simple: start the stitch at the collar and after a few rows divide the stitches into front, back and sleeves. Knit a few rows with a "raglan" line where stitches are increased. Then you "still" the sleeves, knit down the body part, and pick up the sleeve stitches later. In her class, Nina first times the very simplest variation to teach the principle:

Based on this basic variant, she then shows a variant with a turtleneck, as well as a cardigan. All three designs are based on the same principle, you can knit all three variants together with Nina in the video.

I've mentioned before that I really enjoy watching these types of video tutorials. I watch them in the evening while I'm knitting, when there's nothing on TV, and I find them a very successful alternative to the book when they're so well done! You can always rewind, can just be "sprinkled" while knitting along comfortably. I think that's great! The course also contains very extensive course material as a PDF for reference.

And now for the raffle for you: Together with makerist I raffle the course "Raglan from above: knitting sweaters" worth 26,- Euro including a complete material box worth 60,- Euro! To win, leave a comment until Friday, April 3, 2015 at midnight and tell me if you have ever knitted from the top! I will then randomly select a winner. I wish you good luck!

-> The winner is comment no. 24, Franziska (without blog). Congratulations, you get a mail from me!
