The Baby Bear Balaclava is a cute balaclava for kids with rounded bear ears. Knitted in two strands on thinner needles, and with a snug fit around the face and neck, it's a lovely and warm accessory for the colder months (and one that the littlest ones can't easily pull off!). For added warmth and softness, the Baby Bear Balaclava is knit with one skein of merino and one skein of mohair, with the cuff around the face not worked with mohair to keep fluffy fibers from getting too close to the child's face. The Baby Bear Balaclava is worked in one piece, both in the round and in back-and-forth rows, and uses short rows. Two neck options are included, for a ribbed neckband or an extended neck warmer.

Sizes: 6-12 and 12-24 months, 2-4 and 4-8 years for head circumference: approx. 43-48 (48-51, 51-53, 53-56) cm [17-19 (19-20, 20-20¾, 20¾-22)]"

Needles: 3.5 mm / US4 circular knitting needles in 40 and 60 [16 and 24]" cm lengths, and 3.5 mm / US4 double pointed needles, in appropriate gauge to achieve gauge, and 2.5 mm / US1.5 for Italian cast off.

Gauge: 23 sts x 34 rows = 10 cm [4″] plain stitch with 3.5 mm / US4 needles double stranded

Yarn: 1 skein Knitting for Olive Merino (250 m [273 yd] / 50 g [1.8 oz]), fingering weight; 1 (1, 1, 1) skein; and 1 skein Soft Silk Mohair (225 m [246 yd] / 25 g [0.9 oz]), fingering weight; 1 (1, 1, 1) skein.
