Description
Umma Cape
The Umma Cape from Aegyoknit is a great piece of clothing that falls somewhere between a poncho, cardigan and cape. Umma means 'mother' in South Korean and the cape got its name for this reason, as it feels like a mother's embrace when you wear it. Umma is also the mother of the Nabi and Narea patterns, both of which are characterized by the delicate cross detail on the chest.
Umma is knitted from the top down: first the neck, after which the cross yarns are picked up under the ribbing at the neck to form the iconic cross. Increases are then made at the shoulders, while short rows are knitted using the German Short Row method.
Sizes
1 (2) 3 (4) = approx. 123 (136) 146 (158) cm chest circumference of the finished cape and fits a chest circumference of 70-100 (100-120) 120-140 (140-155) cm.
The chest circumference is calculated based on the number of stitches and gauge, but does not take into account the opening at the front, which creates additional room for movement. This allows you to go down/up in size if you want a different look for your cape.
