Short rows are a great thing for shaping knits. They are not only very popular in sweater pattern to optimize the shoulder fit, for example. They are also used in other pieces as well as in some of my shawls.

Short rows can be worked in different ways. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages, I mainly use the "German Short Rows", i.e. the method with the turn stitch as a double stitch.
