For many knits, the so-called cord edge, also widely known as I-cord, is suitable for a durable and at the same time beautifully elastic edge.
This "I-cord" edge can basically be knitted over any number of stitches. The more stitches you use, the heavier the cord will be and the more yarn you will need for your bind-off edge.
