On Thursday, we have placed our newsletter under the motto "Reordering thoughts through knitting". In addition to the normal hustle and bustle of everyday life, there were terrible news from Turkey and Syria this week, and we probably all asked ourselves whether it's not simply time for catastrophes to go away.
Obviously, it is not. All the more I wish you a wonderful good morning for Saturday coffee. Which - as always - is our little oasis when chaos reigns inside and out. Feel free to take a few minutes and immerse yourself in the maschenfein world of wool, let yourself be distracted and treat yourself.
New from Maschenfein: Snanoe
Perhaps it's especially fitting that a new Maschenfein design was released yesterday: the Snanoe sweater has just entered the store - as a complete knitting kit or as a single pattern(click here for the pattern for kids). Either way, it gives us distraction and hopefully puts a smile on your face. For us in any case!
The design comes from Marisa's pen and is available in women's and children's sizes. It is worked top down in a half brioche with Merino Baby and Manada from Pascuali. My favorite part is definitely the loose turtleneck folded inwards. Although I find the visually revisited raglan slants at the cuff also more than beautiful. The sleeves are straight cut and are Italian bind off. I like this way very much to finish a knitted piece - the edges are then simply beautiful.
The pattern for the women's version is designed from XS to 3XL, and the children's version includes the size range from 3-4 years to 11-12 years. The color palettes of Merino Baby and Manada are perfectly matched - so you should have no problem finding your favorite combo. But of course there is one problem. Which color should you choose, please?
Snanoe is just such a feel-good piece. A cozy dream and a warmer. I wish I had it the last few days already, when in the morning the frost glistened on the grass and I would have loved to keep on lying under the warm blankets (small children have brought this dream to an abrupt end). Marisa has tested the sweater on ski vacation on its winter suitability - and it has passed with distinction.
By the way, we have classified Snanoe at three of six possible levels of difficulty. It is certainly an advantage if you have already knitted in a (half) brioche. In addition, you should have mastered increases and decreases. Of course, you can always learn everything. So: Be brave!
By the way: Manada ...
Did you know that Maschenfein was involved in developing Manada ? The yarn has been around since 2021, but until that time came, a little fiddling had to be done. Marisa had taken a close look at the structure of Manada during the conception phase. Mohair and yak alone were not stable enough, it needed silk and merino to make the thread "workable". We also had a hand in the color palette.
In the Maschenfein Shop you can find a lot of matching knitting kits. There are designs where we think Manada is a great alternative to the original or - as in the following case - it is even the original yarn used.
(Still) no goodbye to big needles
There would be namely quite topical Soho Blouse from Caidree. Which ran into me on Instagram and there I had to stop of course briefly. I think it is the perfect project for all those who want to move slowly towards spring knitting. Knitting is namely with 5mm needles (and double stranded). So the hands do not have to suddenly work with felt toothpicks, as is the case with some summer top.
Knit top down in garter stitch. Work the V-neck in rows before closing the project to the round. The edges have Icord finishes. For me, this is on a par with "Italian bind off". Very different, of course, but also great. Like mousse au chocolat or cheese platter for dessert. Can't decide which is better either. (All right, mousse au chocolat, but no, I'm just not sure).
I can't help it: stripes gotta be
Where I clearly have a preference for, are designs with stripes. Even if I'm still dealing with my little Bobbie-stripes-trauma- I just can not look away! Neither with Perfect Stranger by Melanie Berg. Especially since it is wide block stripes. That's something else than small accent stripes.
The sweater model is brand new on Ravelry and - in my opinion - the perfect messenger of spring. We have created it for you in the knitting kit with Cotton Merino from Knitting for Olive. The yarn is 70% cotton and 30% merino. The color palette is smaller than the pure merino qualities of Knitting for Olive, but as usual finely coordinated. You can work contrasting or achieve a beautiful color gradient - just according to your personal taste. Knit in a simple pattern from the top down. I think it's just beautiful!
From head to toe: but knitted!
And if you're like me, then there's nothing like knitwear anyway. I can - except for the really hot summer days - completely wrap in it. And even in the summer there are enough suitable designs, but I'll show you only a little later this year.
Nevertheless, two ideas for colder temperatures are still needed today. Neck and feet also like to have it warm, right?
For example, you could wrap the Coral Reef Wrap by Lisa Hannes around your neck. It was suggested to Jule and me on Ravelry and we both knew immediately: It belongs in the Käffchen!
The knitting kit is already created; you will find Verona and Premia from Lamana in it. The design plays with intertwined rib patterns for which, however, no cable needle is necessary. Instead you work with increases and decreases. When I have finished my Kolding (be sure: You will find out IMMEDIATELY!), the Coral Reef Wrap could be its successor.
Like every year, I am also flirting with knitting socks. Not only because I currently have them in constant use, but also because I find it simply pretty when a piece of knitted sock peeks out of the boot or the sneaker.
Just recently we have put up the socks Jul from Nadel&Garn as a kit for you. We recommend the Premium Cashmere from Schachenmayr for this design, which adorns a varied structure pattern. Just note that the colors here are solid and you do not get a tweed effect.
Maschenfein knitting round
In our knitting round there was again quite alot. "Unfortunately" also designs that I also have on my knitting list, but have so far only started in my head. But I also find mind knitting beautiful these days. You take what you can get!
You have the wool fortunately quite real in your hands. Melanie for example Snefnug from CaMaRose. This will become a Sunday Sweater from PetiteKnit.
Marina has already finished her design from PetiteKnit. It is the Ingrid Slipover from Peer Gynt by Sandnes.
Nicole knitted the Marienlyst Sweater from Indiblomst out of merinoull from Sandnes. What a great color!
And Petra had a Maschenfein classic on the needles: the shawl Luna, knitted with Sensai by Ito, among others.
I wish you now a nice, quiet weekend. Have fun knitting!
