Are you also always looking for small gift ideas for babies or even toddlers? Maybe even matching the knitted baby blanket? I'm actually not so the crocheter, but the cute little crochet friends from the book "Edward's cheeky animal parade" have already done it to me very much. Unfortunately, I neglected to photograph the crocheted lion Rufus before giving it away - only the beginnings can be seen somewhere on Instagram.

You will find 40 different animals in the book, all very similar in design. Which size your animal has in the end depends on the choice of yarn. This is also described in detail in the book. Depending on the yarn and needle size, the animal can get a size between approx. 12 and approx. 34 cm.

How to crochet a cozy toy

The animals all work on the same principle. There are a few standard parts (body and legs) and the rest (hair, tail, ears, wings) is then individually modified per animal. The pattern are very easy to understand even for non-crochet professionals like me.

If the size is not so important to you, you can crochet the animals with any yarn. They are therefore ideal for yarn remnants, for example, to crochet the matching cozy toy to the baby blanket. You should only make sure that the needle size is chosen really small, so that you crochet sufficiently tight and the absorbent cotton does not shine through.
