Tadaaa! Here it is, another new knitting tutorial: My diamond scarf in the beautiful yarn "Alpaca Merino DK" by Rowan, of which I have raved to you so often. An absolute favorite yarn of alpaca, wool and a little nylon. I had chosen the color Oakham, this winter mustard is probably my new blue.
I'm blown away myself by the pattern and how it works with the yarn, which is so cozy. It looks so perfectly fitted now, though it gave me a bit of a headache calculating until it finally matched the perfect width and height to the scarf measurements I wanted. The pattern is especially great because it can be knitted entirely without a cable needle. It is created by the special twisting and knitting together of two stitches.
The knitting pattern include a chart where you can see the pattern at first glance. For all those who have never read a chart, I have explained it in detail and the first rows in words, so that you quickly get behind how the chart reading works. There is absolutely no witchcraft involved! The scarf is knitted on a 4.5mm needle, you need a total of 12 balls of the yarn.
This is the color palette of Alpaca Merino DK, you see it is a new yarn this season, the color palette is not too big yet but covers all tastes in my opinion. From left to right these are:
- Medbourne (white)
- Saxon (beige)
- Trishy (coffee brown)
- ragdale (dark green)
- oadham (my color mustard)
- hoby (purple pink)
- uppingham (purple)
- stamford (rust brown)
- belvoir (blue, with a slight turquoise tick)
- hambleton (dark blue
You can find all colors at Sophia in the store!
The knitting pattern for this scarf are now available in my instructionsttern store. I am curious how you like the scarf!
