When I opened my Maschenfeinen gates here a few years ago, one of my biggest visions was to create an online store where there is a really big selection of knitting kits. A place to find wool for a very specific project that, in the best case scenario, you can then cast on right away and hopefully finish knitting. No hoarding purchases for "if-the-right-guide-ever-runs-across-my-way" opportunities.

We now have almost 800 knitting kits and wool packs and are the largest online store of this kind in Germany. Knitting kits are those kits whose pattern are available directly from us either in the form of a book or a PDF. Wool kits, on the other hand, are packages that contain the corresponding yarn for a model, winstructionsttern you can purchase externally directly from the respective designer. The majorityinstructionsse pattern can be found on Ravelry, the largest platforinstructionsnitting pattern worldwide. Over the years we have built up great partnerships with all designers, of course we do not offer the packages just like that, but always discuss this first with the designer herself, so that we are usually also informedinstructionsly about new pattern and get the picture material. So we are always up to date, as far as our time capacities allow. Whereby we are never finished, because so beautiful new parts are constantly added...

But back to Ravelry. So very often we get the question how to buy tutorials there. As a special service for long-time regular customers, we even sometimes purchase tutorials for our customers, because the process on Ravelry is daunting for some. But it does not have to be!

How to buy pattern there and whether you need to pay attention to what to buy the right "language", we explain to you today.

Ravelry is explained quite simply

First, choose the right wool package here in our store. Let's say you want to knit "Coat for Roxane" by Katrin Schneider.

You buy the wool here with us, where you can very easily select your size to knit and then get exactly the amount you need. By the way, we are very proud of this function, it took us a lot of brainpower to develop it so practical and above all to make it as easy as possible for you.

The link to the pattern, which you then also still need, you will find in the product description (usually) as a button "To knitinstructionsttern". If you click on this link, you will land on Ravelry. Probably you are not logged in, then you wilinstructionshe pattern anyway, but everything is in English and you get less information, such as available languages, keywords, etc. Unlogged it looks like this:

Once you have created an account and logged in, the first thing you can do is change the displayed language to German:

If the pattern are available in one language, then they are usually in English, this information can be found on this page.

The purchase of a tutorial on Ravelry

To buy the guide, you have the option to either "add to basket" at the top right or click "buy now" or "give away".

  • In the basket -> means you collect more pattern before you pay.
  • Buy now -> means that you start the payment process directly.
  • Give away -> you can also give away a tutorial, you need the email address of the person and they will get the PDF then.

One more note about the payment process. You can pay at Ravelry with credit card or Paypal. Payment on account does not work (yet).

If you have bought the manual, you have bought ALL available languages. And also, if a translation is added later or a correction version is created, you will automatically receive it from the designer.

Monolingual manual:

Here at the Coat for Raxane is only one file, the pattern are "only" in English.

Multilingual pattern:

This manual is two files, in this case the English and the German manual.

Once you have paid for the tutorial(s), you can either download them directly or save them to the "Library" first. As said before, with multilingual manuals you automatically have access to all languages.

When you load it into the library, you will find the pattern here:

  • Top right on "my notebook
  • then open the "Library

Again, the direct download of all languages is possible:

By the way: You can always find the tutorial in the Ravelry library and download it or view it online. Purchased tutorials do not expire and are "collected" in one place, where you can always find them again. If they are changed or updated, you get a message. This is a really great feature on Ravlery that no other platform can match.
