A wonderful good morning to the first Advent Saturday Coffee, the special edition of our Saturday Coffee with a very little net talk and quite a lot of inspiration around our Advent fiber journey.

This Advent, we've come up with something brand new again, because we like to spin "stories" around our Advent promotions, we want them to be special so they're fun for us (and even more fun for you). This year, we're doing a four-week fiber journey, so shedding a little more light on four fibers (as the basis of our favorite yarns). Tell you a bit about each fiber or animal and all about the matching yarns in our assortment. And we have reduced a selection of knitting kits for you that match the respective fiber week.

In the first week, which started on the 1st of Advent, the focus was on "Mohair". Until Sunday evening (because some of you get our Saturday Coffee sent by mail on Sunday in the mailbox) we have set 10% discount on many beautiful mohair kits, which you can browse here all at a glance on one page. Here in the blog we have already told you more about the Angora goat and mohair as a basis for yarns.

On Sunday, the 2nd Advent, it goes already into the second round with our next fiber station and more discounts. Be curious what it will be about then.

It's no secret that I like mohair very much, probably that's also the reason that this fiber has grabbed the first week here in our Advent journey right away. One of the reasons I like it so much is that it is often brushed and therefore a bit "fuzzy". I'm a big fan of brushed yarns. At the beginning of my knitting career, however, I fell flat on my face with a cheaper mohair yarn from a major manufacturer, and the shawls I knitted from it I later (after I got to know higher-quality yarns of the same composition) no longer liked to wear. In this respect, when I have customers on the phone asking about the difference in mohair yarns in the store, I very often end up talking and telling for a long time. I can't stress enough that it's really, really worth it to try different mohair yarns, even though you might have thought "itchy, I don't like mohair" at the first yarn you saw. Believe me, there ARE mohair yarns that even the most sensitive knitters will enjoy wearing. We have gathered the best of them here with us.

Kidsilk Haze from Rowan is a classic mohair silk yarn that many knitters swear by (in terms of softness). We haven't had it in the store that long and are very proud to now be able to offer the entire color range. The sweater we have reduced here for you as a kit is from the Sand magazine by Kim Hargreaves with 12 very classic and elegant knits.

Equally fine and noble is the yarn Sensai from ITO. Also a mohair-silk blend, in a slightly different ratio (namely 60% instead of 70% mohair). The Big in Japan from an pattern by Katrin Schneider is knitted in two strands from Sensai and ITO Kinu. The latter is a pure silk yarn. Also on this kit you get 10% discount in our 1st Advent week, so until Sunday evening on the 2nd Advent.

Very, very same as Sensai is also the yarn Premia from LAMANA. I'm such a nerd, I even once compared a sample of both yarns under the microscope and really couldn't tell the difference. But of course every manufacturer has a different look and above all a different color palette to offer, so I am very, very happy to be able to offer both yarns here in the assortment. The pictured stole you can find now as a knitting kit reduced in the store (with free magazine), it comes from the very current LAMANA collection.

Really great and far too long no longer on the needles I find the yarn Lusso from LANG, we really have forever in the assortment. It contains besides the mohair fibers also merino, silk and camel (!) fibers. And I've put the jacket on the discount page, because I've always liked it so much and have wanted to knit it for years. It feels ancient, but it's still soooo beautiful. Don't you think? Would have to times.... or?

That we love the yarn Sultano Fine from Rowan very much, you already know. In addition to the almost obligatory silk content, it contains not only mohair, but also cashmere, hachz. And you can feel that right away. You can literally see it in the pictures, I think. We have put the kit for the Maria cardigan on our Advent discount page. Because we think it's super great!

On the 2nd of Advent we will take you to the second stop of our fiber journey. Be curious!

And pssssttt..... Monday, Monday there will be something! For all you Maschenfein Shawl fans, we'll be revealing the secret of our Maschenfein Christmas Shawl on Monday. I can tell you it's the bomb!!! I promise! Here's a sneak peek:
