What does negative addition mean?

Louisa -
Dear Manuela,
positive ease or negative ease or positive ease is used to indicate how loose or tight the finished garment should fit. As a rule, the measurement and calculation is based on the circumference of the bust. First determine your correct measurements and then add the suggested extra width - or in this case, subtract the negative ease from your measurements. If negative ease or negative positive ease is given, it does not mean that the knitted piece should end up being too small. Instead, the design is designed to be figure hugging or a yarn is used that is stretchy.
Kind regards
Louisa
