Description

Washi is an exceptionally silky-soft paper yarn. When knitted, it shows a beautiful, airy and slightly structured stitch definition, which also shows off lace patterns well. The twisted viscose thread gives the yarn the stability and tear resistance needed for clothing and accessories. The yarn is washable (hand wash).

Paper yarns have a long tradition in Japan. They are considered as noble as silk. The characteristics of paper are also comparable to those of silk: Cooling in summer, warming in winter. Washi can be knitted separately for lace and ajour patterns, as well as light summer scarves. For summer garments we recommend working with double thread or in combination with Niji. A thread of Washi with a thread of Asa also looks very nice.
