Esther Sweater Junior - Knitting pattern

The Esther Sweater Junior is a beautiful textured pattern sweater for children and can be knitted in a variety of ways.
It is knitted from the top down. Stitches are cast on for the back and knitted in rows up to the shoulders. Then stitches for the shoulders are picked up from the cast-on edge and knitted individually. Below the neckline, the two pieces are joined to form the front piece and also knitted up to the armpits. At this point, the body is knitted in rounds over the front and back pieces. For the sleeves, stitches are picked up from the armholes and knitted in the round. Finally, stitches are picked up from the neckline and a cuff is worked. This is folded over and knitted on the inside.
