Balabeanie
The Balabeanie by Anne Ventzel is a casual accessory consisting of a beanie and a hood that are worn on top of each other and knitted in a broken rib pattern. This (almost) rules out cold ears or a tense neck.
The beanie is knitted from the bottom up and cast on with the Italian cast-on.
The hood is knitted from the top down, starting with a square that forms the top of the hood. Then stitches are picked up on three sides of the square and knitted in rows up to the chin. New stitches are cast on there in order to continue knitting in rounds from this point and to join a ribbed cuff. Finally, a ribbed band is knitted around the face neckline.
