In the morning the mist hangs in the trees and house roofs, colorful leaves cover the ground and the days are noticeably shorter. Even if the late summer is still giving its all - autumn is still here. So have a wonderful good morning and welcome to Saturday Coffee on the last weekend in October!
Today there are again beautiful knitting ideas (guaranteed spooky-free, although Halloween is just around the corner), webtalk and novelties from the Maschenfeinshop (so, so beautiful)! An old acquaintance is also there - namely me: Sophia. Old, of course, does not refer to my age I am - apart from slight sleep deprivation and the one or other milk spot - fresh as ever. You know. The self-cleaning ability of wool suits me just fine. Less laundry also saves electricity and the like. Energy-saving tips are now also available at Maschenfein, what more do you want?
And yet, this one little thing is missing ...
Oh, that reminds me of one thing that is still missing here. Fitting for this very blog series called Samstagskaffee. Which has been around for so long and can be enjoyed curled up on the sofa with a nice cup of coffee or tee. I do not know about you, but I drink my coffee - and especially saturday ones - preferred from very special cups. The eye drinks with you.
And so we've been thinking for a long time whether our own Maschenfein mug wouldn't be a great addition to our Saturday coffee. We thought back and forth, compared designs and then put the idea on the back burner for the time being. Something always didn't fit right.
When I then later planned the Christmas gifts for my colleagues, the desire came up again. By chance I had discovered shortly before the potter Cornelia Henle from Würzburg on Instagram. And then it just clicked! A few emails later, I ordered a stamp with Maschenfein logo and Conni set to work. What can I say: The result was perfect and we knew that this model may not only enrich our coffee table.
So from now on you can find a limited number of Maschenfein cups in our store. Each piece has been turned and glazed by hand by Conni in Würzburg. No mug is like the other - a fact that we particularly like and appreciate.
Conni inherited her love of clay from her father and initially chose a completely different career path. But who, if not us at Maschenfein, knows that many paths are not straight. All the more reason for us to be pleased with Conni's decision to devote herself entirely to wheel pottery.
Personally, I particularly like the sustainable approach of Conni's pottery: any excess clay is recycled and reused. And there's relaxation on top, thanks to her videos of the turning. A Saturday visit to her workshop, which includes a small café, is pure seduction I can tell you!
Especially beautiful in combination with knitwear
It goes without saying that the Maschenfein mug looks especially beautiful on a hand peeking out of a knitted sleeve.
Some time ago I came across Norwegian knitwear designer Arnhild Skatvedt. I was immediately taken with the cute videos where she showcases her designs. Then again, the sweater (of course) MåHa Sweater caught my eye. After all, it's pink (you get the idea. Some things just never change ;-)).
Knit the model top down with a double collar. This is knitted on the inside. Work in two strands, exchanging one yarn for the stripe. Possible yarn combinations are for example Sunday, Følgetråd and Tynn Silk Mohair from SANDNES or Merino from Knitting for Olive, Piura from Lamana and Soft Silk Mohair (again Knitting for Olive). You replace Sunday and Merino for the stripe and the cuffs with the respective silk-mohair yarn. The most difficult thing is and remains probably the color choice. So for you. I would take pink, of course.
Just my favorite: Cardigans
Since our baby girl still takes her food in liquid form and prefers to eat it directly from mommy, I find cardigans especially practical at the moment (Ever seen someone with baby on their lap wiggle up a sweater, unpack the necessities, and not lose baby or nerves in the process? Exactly. Told you so: Cardigan).
The two designs this week I had already on the list at the beginning of the year, but somehow they have always slipped down. Now, however, I want to show them to you.
The Asa kimono by Sanne Fjalland is a short-sleeved cardigan with a generous length. But you can also shorten it easily - depending on your preference. Eye-catcher is next to the short sleeves with slit the structure pattern. I find it quite chic and can imagine him also very well in the office. For the yarn, we suggest two options. Either you knit Organic Shetland of BC yarn double stranded for a more rustic look or Verona and Premia from LAMANA. Here you get a really fine, delicate cardigan. And while I'm writing this, I'm already melting!
Decorate at home with Flurry
Ankestrick describes her own model as the "perfect couch cardi" - the Flurry Cardigan. And that's exactly what it is. Knitted for example from Snefnug from CaMaRose, you have such a cozy piece, that another episode of your favorite series continues quite by itself. Who wants to get up from the sofa? And we shouldn't heat so much anyway. Both patterns are only available in English. But from experience I can say that - at least I can speak for Ankestrick here - you can follow the English pattern very well. Her Diary Cardigan was my first English pattern and it was a lot of fun.
And a note from my side to the topic Snefnug. As of November 4, the missing colors should be back in stock and available for retailers to order. Then nothing will stand in the way of cozy hours of knitting with this wonderfully soft yarn. On the contrary: The yarn Midnatssol which can be knitted in combination with Snefnug (a mohair-free alternative, that's all I need to say!), will then be available in other colors that match the Snefnug colors. We heard this wish from you quite often and simply passed it on to Trine from CaMaRose. Now it has worked out and we are just very happy about it!
Keep your socks on!
I know. It's the last weekend of October. But: it's still socktober and just because the month is about to end, that doesn't mean you have to throw away all your handmade footwear in November. Quite the opposite. Then hopefully comes the cold weather, which allows you to really enjoy the wool socks.
I love knitted socks. Preferably knitted by someone else, but well - as we all know, life is not a wish list. I also love yoga. Preferably on YouTube, when Mady Morrison does it, but again: Sometimes (actually always) it's better to do it yourself. And then say thank you to yourself, just as Mady always suggests at the end of the session.
In this respect, the yoga socks Masol are in my eyes. They would also make a great gift for yoginis and all those who want to become one. Knitted with Merino baby by Pascuali and I dare the steep thesis that they are a quick project, because the sometimes somewhat fiddly heel knitting is omitted.
You can't avoid the heel with the designs Overture Socks by Susana Guasch and the Samu socks, but if you don't need yoga socks, you need covered heels and toes. There's always something, right? You use here either Edelweiss Alpaca from Kremke Soul Wool (for the Overture Socks) or Forest from Pascuali for Samu. By the way, we present you even more model suggestions and the matching accessories in our inspiration Knitting socks inspiration.

The new baby magazine from SANDNES has also just arrived in the store. Unfortunately, my hormones are running a bit high and I want to knit everything in it. Of course I can't do that, but I'm sure there's a little hat or two in there and maybe even a cute sweater for Christmas (Hear that, kids? Mama needs knitting time!). In any case, take a look at the knitting kits, maybe one or the other baby wants to get some knits.
And then I'm actually a little bit more than excited. I knitted a baby blanket for our offspring and just wrote along. Jule was so sweet and then test knitted the blanket, untangled my thoughts and brought the pattern in pure form. Baby blanket Anna is finally ready and waiting for you as a kit or as a single pattern in the Maschenfeinshop.
The blanket is absolutely suitable for beginners. If you know knit and purl stitches, you should be able to manage in any case. You knit from the bottom up. The edges are worked in double knit and otherwise the pattern alternates between ribs, garter stitch stripes and diamonds. If you like, you can cast on or cast off the beginning and end Italian.
You knit with Sole from Pascuali. I have knitted the yarn here for the first time and am just thrilled with the cotton-cashmere blend.
Maschenfein knitting round
Before we take a look at what you're knitting, I just wanted to say a big thank you to you for all the congratulations I received on the birth of our daughter, and to my two stand-ins, Saskia and Judith, who did such a great job of holding down the fort and providing you with knitting ideas.
And of course a huge thank you goes out to the Maschenfein team! Because during my absence, the others have also taken over tasks from me and continue to do so, because I start with reduced hours for now. So the world outside may be (once again) pretty rough and cold - our knitting community is all the warmer for it. <3
In our knitting round Mareike shows again her Mesh Sweater from Paula_m. The patern is coming soon and I have already told Mareike that I imagine the quite very nice on myself. In pink, of course, on a gray shirt.
Birgit knitted the Hipster Hat from PetiteKnit in Double Sunday by SANDNES and wants to give it away for Christmas. Unfortunately, not to me, because I think it's really great and I really want to make one for myself.
Saskia and Judith have also been busy (well, not to mention writing for Maschenfein of course). Saskia knitted the top Cosima and waaa ... I want it too. Here in the version from Verona from LAMANA.
Judith knits the shawl Zimtstern by Melanie Berg from Cheeky Merino Joy from Rosy Green Wool. It already looks really great, and anyone who has touched Rosy Green Wool yarns knows how wonderful they are to wear on the neck.
In any case, I wish you a wonderful, late summer autumn weekend. Maybe with one or the other carved pumpkin, but in any case with a lot of knitting time!
