{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}
I have to tell you something: This week I was in Berlin with Louisa and visited Marisa in the new Maschenfein office. It's not finished yet, but let me tell you: you can already see exactly where the journey is going! It's going to be so, so beautiful!
Filled with the already inspiring atmosphere, I wish you a wonderful good morning for your Saturday coffee at the end of another full and exciting week! I've brought you lots of summer feelings today, which I hope will put you in as good a mood as I am. And psst ... a knit-along is waiting in the wings! Make yourselves comfortable and have fun reading!
If you are still looking for a simple summer sweater ...
How are you doing? Only interested in projects without sleeves or T-shirts at most? As is so often the case, I'm in two minds. Having fully arrived in summer mode, I do feel like sandals, a beach bag and light tops, but when I come across beautiful long-sleeved designs, I certainly don't close my eyes!
Because as the saying goes? Knit what you like! And because I had lots of cozy yarns in my hands in the Maschenfein office, which is more of a studio than just a place to work, this model is a must: I'm talking about the SABAI sweater by Paula_m.

Two knitting kits for you

The sweater with a bateau neckline is knitted from the top down. It has a loose fit and relatively narrow sleeves for contrast. So if you don't want to be too oversized, this design is a nice compromise.
We have created two knitting kits for you: If you like it a little warmer, you can choose Como from Lamana. The pure merino yarn is light and makes the sweater wearable even on cool summer evenings. Como Cashmere is even more elegant - you can swap the two yarns one for one.
Our second knitting set is the summer version: here you knit with Petunia from Rauma, a pure cotton yarn. I think both versions have something going for them. With the current temperatures, I really want to knit with cotton - but anyone who knows me knows that Como and Como Cashmere always work!
Sophisticated collar
I had to look twice at the Umbria Summer Top from Cookie the Knitter. Not because I didn't find it pretty at first glance, but because I wanted to take a look at the neckline. I initially thought that a polo collar had been used as a design element, but the photo chosen for this little coffee shows that it is a simple round neckline. Simple but only at first glance!
Thanks to the material used - single-thread Pure Silk from Knitting for Olive - the collar falls very loosely. And because the first button is set a little lower, the neckline simply folds down. A cute effect that is a real eye-catcher! You knit from the top down in a broken rib pattern.

A must: vests

Photo: ©️ Knitting for Else
Katharina from Knitting for Else has picked up on two trends: The Hey Ho Vest is - as the name suggests - a vest that is knitted with a lace pattern. Be sure to click through the different pictures - I really like both the closed and the open vest versions.
We are knitting from the top down with Line from Sandnes. This summer yarn is a big hit with you and rightly so. It knits up great and is very comfortable to wear. The color palette also leaves nothing to be desired.
A colorful mix
When packing my suitcase for Berlin, I realized afterwards that I had quite a colourful mix in my luggage - and too much. But I wanted to be prepared for everything. That's the way it is with knitting preferences!
On the train, for example, I knitted a summery shirt. I'll show you what it is in the next round of On the Needles, but today I'm bringing you the Cleo Top that you knit with Line from Sandnes. Louisa worked on this figure-hugging model from Rust Knitwear and I'm sure some of you will like it too. The pattern include three different neckline versions as well as notes on a striped version. You'll also get tips on how to adjust the top to your exact bust size. Something like this is worth its weight in gold, really!
For the crocheters among you, I have the SOFT GRID top from Pascuali with me, using the yarn Pinta. I was so pleased to receive an email the other day from a reader thanking me for my crochet inspiration that I wanted to follow up immediately. You crochet top down. After sewing the front and back pieces together, the neckline and sleeve cuffs are worked in the round with single crochet stitches.
When I travel, I also like to take a project for my children with me. Not that I can work on several things at the same time or even have enough time to knit so much, but the optimism ... And even if my children are already too big for the Frankie Sweater Baby from PetiteKnit, which is available in sizes from 0 to 12 months - maybe one or two of you will need it. You knit from the top down - either with Cashmere Classic from Cardiff (cozy) or Mandarin Naturell from Sandnes (summery).
A knit-along is coming up!
And anyway: summer! It's back this week and I'm probably not the only one who's starting to feel like I'm on vacation (even if it's still a while away). But to make sure you don't get bored during the vacations, we've thought of something fun: We want to knit our way through the summer together with you. A maschenfein summer knit-along! The theme: the mini shawls from our bestseller Mini Tücher - Maxi Chic.
The Knit-Along starts on Saturday, June 28 - this is when Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia start their long-awaited summer vacations. Bavaria will then end on September 15. So we have a good eleven weeks to knit one or more of the 18 designs. I'm sure you'll manage more than one shawl!

There is also a small raffle

You can join in at any time during the knit-along, registration is not necessary. If you like, connect with us on Instagram: We have set up a second account for the KAL where we would like to show some of your work. So if you post a picture of your finished project: Be sure to tag @maschenfein and @maschenfein_strickrunde so that we can find you and repost if necessary.
At the end of the Knit-Along, we will be giving away three knitting sets for the stitch-free mini shawls in the book among all marked picture owners. The only condition here: You have to follow both our accounts. So post as much as you can - the more pictures of you there are, the more raffle tickets there are with your name 😉 We're definitely looking forward to lots and lots of knitted mini shawls. I'll probably be taking part with Mollimi (and not throwing a lot into the pot, of course)!
Something quick for your ears!
The upcoming knit-along was also the topic of the latest episode of our podcast Nur noch eine reihe. However, Marisa and I focused on the topic of cotton. We tell you more about the plant, how it is processed and, of course, give you lots of ideas for suitable yarns and designs. It's worth listening in!
Maschenfein knitting round
I can't wait to see what you'll be knitting this summer. My list is definitely long - but it's far from exhausted. Not yours either? Then take another look here:

Carolin, who you may already know as a designer (we have matching knitting kits for some of her great patterns in the store), has finished her Serenas Lacesweater - this time in Pure Silk from Knitting for Olive. What a wonderful idea!
A striped FREESTYLE shirt by Paula_m can be admired at Rosi 's. The color choice of the Sole by Pascuali is as classic as it is accurate - you can't go wrong with it! We can definitely continue with sun, beach and iced coffee.
So, are your summer feelings and suitable project ideas there? My weekend is pretty packed, but maybe there will be time for two or three rounds on the knitting needles. In any case, I wish you a good time and lots of knitting fun!

The Umbria Summertop has also been available with German pattern for a few days now! I knitted it last Sunday and it's wonderful.
Dear Susanne, oh, that's great! Thanks for mentioning it and have fun knitting! Sophia
Good morning everyone,❤️🌻,
I was very happy to hear the news that there is a mini shawl knit-along! I've had the book here for a while (since it came out), but I still had a few VIPs to work through 😁.
By the way, thank you for linking the second Instagram account, I somehow didn't realize how exactly I note maschenfein (knitted by me) projects in Instagram.
Sabai Sweater is already on my needles from Line. And Serena's Lace Sweater has been on my wish list for ages. This version from Pure Silke in yellow is beautiful 🤩. Best regards Tatsiana
Dear Tatsiana, the second account is a little test balloon, because we want to see how we can best share your projects 🙂 It's best to always tag both accounts, then we'll definitely see the pictures! Best regards and have fun knitting and with Maschenfein! Sophia
