Hello and welcome to Saturday coffee - or should I say ball pool?! That's about how we feel right now at Maschenfein. From everywhere the balls of wool and designs pelt at us and we are sitting - sometimes figuratively, sometimes literally - squealing in front of the screens. We are happy about the wave of warm cardigans, fluffy sweaters and cozy soft shawls that rolls towards us on Instagram, Ravelry & Co.

The only problem is that it's impossible to fit it all into a single Saturday coffee. For you, of course, we spare no effort and have bravely faced the agony of choice again today.

So, grab a hot beverage (sort of the wetsuit from the inside) and join us for a dive into the floods of fall knits.

Is it Christmas already?!

Well, fortunately not yet, but hold on - today in three months it is actually already that time again! High time, therefore, to think about knitted for the loved ones. Yes, I say consciously: the dearest ones, superlative. Because in such a knitted gift is a lot of heart, time and effort. Something very special for very special people. And because special people are sometimes men, we have a recommendation for under the christmas tree - the single malt sweater from Maxim Cyr aka Max the Knitter.

Depending on your beverage preference, I wouldn't announce in advance that the gift will be a single malt - that could lead to confusion. But hardly to disappointment, because the sweater brings everything you could want: knitted top down - with Raglan increases and a memorable pattern. Thanks to wool in Aran weight there are also quickly first successes to admire. With Big Merino Hug from ROSY GREEN WOOL you do everything right: soft to tender men's skin and good for nature. ROSY GREEN WOOL obtains raw wool exclusively from controlled organic animal husbandry and produces in Europe, so that the yarn does not have to be transported around the world.

For all gift knitters who want to ensnare a man of their choice: Louisa has compiled knitted items for men. Among all the small and quick, but also large and complex projects, there is certainly something for everyone.

Dreaming of next summer...

Who wants to knit ahead or perhaps still needs an in-between present: Children's clothing is always a grateful option. After all, the little people are... well, small. Therefore, their knitted things are not huge - logical - and also still cute.

Whether still in autumn or already for the next summer: With the Skirt meadow flower by Sharon Maninger rings all Bullerbü-Lönneberga bells for me. This cute piece is knitted from the bottom up in a simple flower pattern. The waistband is worked by decreases and gets an elastic band for the perfect fit. The straps can be added - they are not mandatory for support, but all the cuter for it.

Jule (soon to be "Aunt Jule" and thus in baby knitting fever) has made a kit for you for the little skirt from the super soft and lightweight Como from LAMANA.

And because baby and children's knitting goes so quickly from the hand, here are a few new additions from the maschenfein knitting kit library.

This is the house of my new blouse - sorry, sweater

Fashion is subject to trends, including knitwear. Of course, there are things that are never quite out. Structural patterns, for example. But when I scroll through the autumnal knitting feeds at the moment, I get the impression that the topic of structural knits is becoming even bigger than in previous years. These two styles (plus mini version), which I'm sure many of you know, may have paved the way for this as pioneers:

Venia

In her latest model Venia Isabell Kraemer has opted for an elegant structured pattern, which is particularly attractive because it is worked only in the middle of the front and back. Especially pleasant against the autumn wind: the cozy stand-up collar, which is formed with short rows. With Como Tweed from LAMANA not only makes the sweater wonderfully soft, but also gives it another visual twist with the typical tweed look. Click here for the kit.

We'll stick with the textured pattern theme for a moment. But this time in the practical slipover variant. The Thayer Slipover by Julie Hoover has a really nice vintage vibe. Even the way it's knitted might fall more into the "oldschool" category for some: the slipover isn't knitted seamlessly in rounds from the top, but flat from the bottom in separate pieces and then sewn together. But old doesn't always have to be bad. Perhaps one or the other discovers this kind of construction for themselves (again). As yarn you can use the cotton/virgin wool mix from Duo from SANDNES or you can go for 100% merino with Bébé Soft Wash from KREMKE SOUL WOOL.

Since a slipover has no sleeves (and thus doesn't even count as a new project, as we know...), you also have a good chance of getting such a piece ready for the current season. Need some inspiration? In the category "Slipovers" you will surely find something in the knitting kits.

Knitted layering look

Fall is a classic transitional season, so it's perfect for the layering look. The Ribblesdale Vest by Lily Kate France is just the right addition to your closet - and it's pretty stylish to boot. Thanks to the cropped length, it cuts a great figure especially over dresses - handy for those who just can't bring themselves to pack away their summer clothes for winter yet (it might get a bit warmer again, right? I won't give up hope...) Knitted in brioche, which makes the vest stretchy and cozy at the same time. The maschenfein yarn recommendation: Tibetan, a lovely merino-yak blend from PASCUALI.

Another component for the skilful layering look could also be the Everyday Sweater by Angelina Zimmer. The casual sweater works just as well on cool late summer evenings as it does now in fall as a cozy layer between tank top and cardigan. You can vary the length, but be careful: If you want to lengthen the sweater, you have to increase the number of skeins accordingly. The yarn combination of Merino Baby and Suave from PASCUALI is available as a knitting kit in the store.

Fleece knitwear and sensitive skin? Yes, you can!

It's not just in terms of designs that there's a lot going on at the moment. There are also exciting new additions to the material. SANDNES has just added a new quality to the store. Drum roll, excited expectation, tadaaaa: ALPAKKA FØLGETRÅD!

Why are we so excited about a new alpaca yarn? Because it's finally THE answer for all of you (including myself) who love fleece but are always a little skeptical about mohair or, in the worst case, can't stand it at all. Alpakka Følgetråd is designed as a hatchet yarn. It is very thin, which is already indicated by the yardage of 400 meters per 50 grams.

So if you have always squinted at the many wonderful fleece sweaters from PetiteKnit & Co - here is the perfect mohair-free solution. Currently there are 6 colors of quality; but the range is sure to expand soon.

Autumn weather in the #maschenfeinstrickrunde

Today I'm going to do a little navel-gazing: what's going on with my fellow Maschenfein ladies? When Sandra wrapped herself in her Kolding sweater the other day, I just came back sweaty from walking in my NoFrills Sweater. (In the meantime, the cold has caught up with me and I'm knitting heavy socks so as not to freeze to death at my desk...)

Jule, as mentioned above, is soon to be an aunt and is about to finish her baby blanket. This is conveniently a test knit for Sophia's design, who will soon be back from parental leave.

Before I say goodbye, an important note: If you have fallen in love with Franzi Klee's wonderful bags and knitted keepsakes in the last days, weeks or even years, you still have the chance to place your order until tomorrow (Sunday). Franzi and her team will start the production next week, so that you will soon have your knitwear in Mona or your needles stowed in wonderful cases like Mila.

So, hopefully you've emerged from the fuzzy ball pool and the only collateral damage is that you can't decide which fall project gets to go on the needles first. With this quite wonderful problem I send you without a guilty conscience into a beautiful weekend,

Dear Antje, thank you for your tip. Apparently I called up an old information status (discount promotion) when writing last week and didn't see that it no longer applies. Have a nice weekend, Judith
