{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

Here we go again: I have knitting list overload. My colleagues are already laughing (cheeky, right?!), but I just call it "optimistic attitude paired with a (large) portion of recklessness". Where would we all be without hope? Exactly! Have a wonderful morning with your Saturday coffee!

Today we're talking about one of my favorite items of summer clothing - dresses! I love it: quickly put it on in the morning and you're done. Do they also come in knit? Of course! And if dresses aren't for you - I've got more in my luggage. So make yourselves comfortable and have fun reading!

With a pocket knitted in

I've had my eye on the SAViLE dress from ANKESTRiCK (virtually) ever since it was created. I like it when an outsider can see how a design gradually takes shape. After all, a tutorial like this doesn't happen overnight, it takes time and patience.

The wait for Anke's new design was definitely worth it! The result is a beautiful, sleeveless dress with a V-neck that you can wear over a T-shirt or a blouse. The SAViLE dress is knitted top down with Softyak DK from Rowan (76 % cotton 15 % yak 9 % nylon). The knitted-in pocket is definitely an eye-catcher.

Yes, let's be honest

Do you need patience? Of course you do! But it's worth it - like with the Allgood Dress by Magdalena Parker.

Why do my colleagues laugh at me? Because I have a tendency to be a little too optimistic about the realization of all my knitting projects (hopeful, that is!). That's why I want to be completely honest with you: Knitting a dress takes patience and perseverance, of course. But (!) it is so worth it.

I recommended the Allgood Dress by Magdalena Parker to you two years ago, but I have to mention it again today. I still think it's beautiful. Plain knit, loose cut - hello all summer occasions! Here, too, you work from the top down. In the knitting set you will find Merino from Knitting for Olive. Cotton Merino also works. And if you think you'll never finish it: our customer and test knitter Saskia proves you wrong in this video.

Ok, now we're getting cocky

And, can you already feel the exuberance? I don't call it cockiness, but the right spirit. The right attitude towards knitting. Where would we be without a bit of mad daring?

That's why the Lola Kjole model from Sandnes is not to be missed today. Our colleague Lisa has been knitting this floor-length dress - come on, let's all confess our UFOs(UnfinishedKnitted Objects) - for around two years now. I don't see anything wrong with it!

You work your way from the top down with Line from Sandnes. Yes, it takes time. Yes, it's worth it. And how great, great, great is a home-knitted dress? What a statement! And psst - just make it a calf-length version! 😉

Also great projects for the little ones

For those who prefer to approach the subject of knitted dresses slowly: How about styles for the little ones? I've brought you three ideas:

The Wiesenblume dress is a cute summer design from Kleinigkeitenliebe. You knit with Sole by Pascuali: cotton meets cashmere. The knitting is done from the bottom up - the skirt is adorned with a pretty floral pattern, the top with a ribbed pattern. The keyhole fastening makes it easy to put on and take off, even for the little ones.

You can also find a mini version of the floor-length Sandnes design from earlier. And this Lola Kjole isn't floor-length either (I can't imagine my Bullerbü daughter in something like that!), but practically to the knee. Little robbers can run around in it! Just like the big original, Line is used here.

The Jacques Dress Junior from kolibri by johanna is colorful. The stripe design is knitted from the top down with Perla by Lamana. The cotton, alpaca and silk blend yarn is an extremely pleasant quality and is also suitable for children.

What is Marisa wearing?

Mika Summer V Shirt
Ask again and again: MIKA Summer V Shirt from Lotilda.

This week, we've also received a lot of questions about one of Marisa's current favorite pieces: the MIKA Summer V Shirt from Lotilda.

The Maschenfein boss is currently wearing this loose-fitting shirt up and down, which is why it can often be seen on Instagram. Because you obviously like it so much, it's finding its way back into the coffee today. With needle size 5 to 6.5 mm, it is also quick to knit.

You work the model from the top down. The construction is quite ingenious and will certainly be a lot of fun to knit. What's more, you can also wear the V-neck at the back and then have a round neckline at the front (Marisa already wore it like this, for example). In the knitting set you will find Tynn Silk Mohair from Sandnes - Marisa's color is Pink Lilac 😉.

Another tip from this internet

Before there are two listening tips for you, I have one more knitting idea for you: You already know the Wave Tee from PetiteKnit, of course. And you remember: You can find two knitting sets here - one with CottonWaves from Gepard and one with Tykk Line from Sandnes. Both yarns are very different in appearance, but have a similar fiber composition (cotton and linen for Gepard, cotton, viscose and linen for Sandnes).

I came across another idea on the internet (that's bad!). The owner of a Swiss yarn store showed her yarn version on Instagram: How about four strands of Kinu from Ito? I think that's so mega! Kinu is a pure silk yarn. And with four threads you can achieve great melange effects (or go plain, of course). The cotton linen yarns CottonWaves and Tykk Line have been joined by a silk representative. I think that's great!

More information

The idea of knitting the Wave Tee from Kinu by Ito also fits perfectly with our latest podcast episode. I had Torge Ruge, the owner of ITO Yarn, as a guest and we spent almost an hour talking about his path to Ito, Japanese yarns and knitting itself. I can tell you this much: The business IT specialist from Münster was not necessarily destined to become the head of a yarn manufacturer ...

If you have your podcast app open, you can also add another episode to your playlist - the latest episode of Emflourishment. Marisa is a guest there and tells her story and the story of Maschenfein. Have a listen!

Maschenfein knitting round

If you've got a dress project in mind and aren't afraid to be inspired - I've brought you two more ideas from our knitting session:

Pictures via Instagram: ©️instagram.com/happyellla / instagram.com/calipso351

One of the summer pieces par excellence has been finished at Happyellla. The Ankers Summer Shirt from PetiteKnit is really close to my heart. I parted with mine with a heavy heart because it was simply worn out - so I had to get a new one! As with Happyellla, of course, it's also made from Line by Sandnes.

And then I'm grateful to Rosi for bringing back the maschenfein Küselshirt to my knitting list. We have created it for you in several yarn variations (also with Ito yarns - just saying!). Rosi knitted hers in Bio Balance from BC Garn and Silky Kid from Kremke Soul Wool. Also very nice!

Eieiei. Now she's not only thinking about a dress, she's also looking at the colors of the Kinu. There's only one thing to do: run forward and keep knitting. Have a great weekend with lots of time for the most beautiful hobby in the world!

Thank you very much for this post.
I like the savile dress from ankestrick, but the dress is too long for me.
Could I make the dress shorter? To above the knee?

Petra

So knitting dresses is like crocheting a bikini for me - not my "thing". Nevertheless, I love reading the great blog post. Only the blue sweater in the header from ITO - I would love to make that. Which one is that?

Sophia

This is the kissing shirt in the Ito combination - really great! Best regards, Sophia

Petra

many thanks for the info!!!!!

Saskia

Another great coffee! The Savile Dress is also waiting to be worn here. And thank you so much for linking my reel! The Allgood Dress was a real marathon, but so worth it <3

Sophia

I'd love to! Do you already have the wool at home? I'm very excited about it too 😅 Best wishes! Sophia

tina

Good morning.

Very, very bad Saturday coffee....
My knitting list has moved to a roll of toilet paper.

Please tell us which sweater that is at the top of the header?

Kind regards
Tina

Sophia

😅 "Moved onto a roll of toilet paper" - wonderful! The piece in the lead photo is the kissing shirt in the Ito version. Best regards! Sophia
