{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

We're getting right into it: I've finished my Mother's Day shawl Romy. You already knew that, of course, because Summer is back! As I mentioned elsewhere, the mixed weather was on me (because of the imminent danger of needling something summery). But now everything is tutti!

I wish you a wonderful, summery good morning for this Saturday Coffee! With the return of warm temperatures (who doesn't know the parable of the lost summer?!), my knitting list is out of the drawer again. And it continues to fill up. What's on it? You can find out now. Make yourselves comfortable and have fun reading!

News from the island

In this week's newsletter, Louisa wondered aloud whether there is too much inspiration for summer knitting designs. Her (and my) answer: Of course not! Tastes are so different, designs so varied - we're not going to stop with all the beautiful summer knitwear!

Among other things, I have brought you the new design by Cheryl Mokhtari aka Coco Amour Knitwear for this week. The Londoner always hits my taste and even if I know that the natural tones of her patterns are too restrained for some: When knitting, you end up deciding on the color yourself. That's the great thing!

Textured pattern and fake side seam

The Cabana Tee stands out thanks to the textured pattern on the sleeves and the clever side seam (which is not sewn, of course!).

The Cabana Tee is simple on the one hand and has exciting details on the other. This includes the textured pattern on the sleeves as well as the side seam, which is of course not sewn but knitted throughout.

You work the shirt from the top down with a raglan yoke, with short rows to increase the neck. It is knitted in two strands with Cotton Merino and Compatible Cashmere from Knitting for Olive. The knit is therefore not too heavy, but still provides a certain warmth. If you live or vacation in areas that are not too hot: the Cabana Tee could be your project!

Round yarn queen has delivered again

In this case, the yarn will be more summery (and always ask us for alternatives if something doesn't fit!): The Tulipan Tee by Lene Holme Samsøe is - as almost always with the Dane - a chic shirt with a round yoke and floral pattern. In this case, you're saving tulips for the summer.

Here, too, knitting is done from the top down. The pattern requires knit and purl stitches and yarn overs. Advanced beginners can therefore take the plunge! Another technique used is short rows - you can find a short tutorial from us here on YouTube. We have put you in the knitting kit as in Lene's Original Line from Sandnes.

Also something for "underneath"

Do you also like wearing dresses and skirts in summer? I admit that pants are sometimes more practical in my everyday life, but every now and then I get the urge and reach for a summer dress or a matching skirt.

If you want to knit yourself a summer piece like this: Maybe it will be Linette's Skirt by Trine Bertelsen, who is behind the yarn manufacturer CaMaRose and also designs pattern for her yarns. The skirt is the latest addition and definitely worth a look.

Knit from the top down. Work an elastic band into the waistband for the perfect fit. The beautiful A-line shape is achieved by increasing. The weight of the pure linen yarn Løvetand also gives the skirt a beautiful drape. Well, how about it? We have already reordered the Perlemor color shown here 😉

Lord, give us more knitting time!

Anyone who knows me knows that once I've finished one project, I'm highly motivated to start and finish four more straight away. Because we want to stay realistic, I'm only presenting three more for now:

Do you remember last week's knitting round? There I showed a test knitting photo of the Sylvan Tee by Aneta Bleyer aka Knitting Adventure. Now the matching knitting set is here: Like Aneta's, you'll find Kinu and So Asa by Ito. A so, so great summer mix (silk meets linen, cotton and a little more silk). Knitted from the top down.

The Port Cardigan is the lightweight counterpart to my discovery of the winter: ever since I got the Port Jacket from Ozetta Knitwear, I've been wearing it up and down (although it's safely tucked away in the wardrobe in the current temperatures). So the matching cardigan would be an option! You are working from the top down with Cotton Merino and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive.

I have also brought you a cute little scarf for this coffee: The Pinecone Scarf is the latest design by Lisa Hannes alias maliha designs and will look perfect on your neck even in warmer weather. It is knitted from lace to lace from Brushlight by Cardiff (cashmere meets silk!).

And à propos ...

The cashmere-silk yarn from Italy is also the ideal transition to another great summer project! Last week I had already hidden it in the lead photo, this week I want to mention it again (even if the design is a bit older).

We are of course talking about the Ship Shape, a striped sweater design by Canadian Heidi Kirrmaier, which you have come across several times on Maschenfein. Marisa has one and Sandra knitted hers while on vacation last year - the perfect project when you're looking at the sea, I tell you!

Two maschenfein yarn suggestions

Brushlight by Cardiff for fall and winter, Kinu and Washi by Ito for spring and summer! Ship Shape by Heidi Kirrmaier.

If you like the striped design (note - the pattern are only available in English), you can choose between two yarn suggestions: Last year, in addition to the Kinu-and-Washiversion (the Itogarns are great for mild weather), we also posted a version with Brushlight from Cardiff.

Depending on when you want to wear the Ship Shape, you can decide between the yarn suggestions. Given the warm weather, I'd go for Ito, but if you're already toying with cooler temperatures ... knitting ahead and all that!

The tickets are online

Since yesterday you can also buy your tickets for Knit & Cinema in Munich! On June 28th we want to watch the movie The Penguin of My Life with you in the Astor Film Lounge.

Sandra and Louisa will be there for Maschenfein. So you can look forward to all kinds of shop talk and a little surprise ... 😉 If you like, you can order a neck reading lamp when you buy your ticket. I've had one since last summer and wouldn't want to be without it!

Not long now and we'll be knitting with you in a Munich movie theater!

Cornelia has finished the mini shawl Milotti from our latest shawl book. The small version of our Mother's Day shawl Lotti from last year is easy to knit and a pleasure to wear thanks to Pinta by Pascuali.

I was particularly pleased with Christiane's post this week. If you work online as much as we do, you can only see to a limited extent what you get "out there". But now I discover the beginnings of a yellow Ivy Blouse by PetiteKnit from Sensai by Ito in the photo and I'm delighted that our enthusiasm for yellow and the yarn choice for this design resonate with you too!

By the way, today is also Worldwide Knit in Public Day - the day for us knitters to take our favorite hobby outside and show that knitting is simply the best! With this in mind, I'm sending you out into the fresh air and wish you lots of fun knitting outdoors and a lovely weekend!

Alexandra

Hello lovelies!
Ever since I subscribed to your newsletter, I've been looking forward to every Saturday! Of course, the knitting list gets longer from week to week ... thank you for the great suggestions and the beautiful yarns that I can buy from you. I have fallen in love with ITO Yarns - they are not available here in Vienna.
I'm already looking forward to next Saturday - best regards Alexandra

Sophia

Dear Alexandra, how nice that you have discovered us! I hope you continue to have lots of fun knitting and with Maschenfein! Sophia

Antje

Have a wonderful Saturday from your vacation on Langeoog. Here you can knit in super pleasant summer temperatures.
The "Strampe" (knitting lamp) had to come along, of course. After all, who has ever had a vacation apartment or hotel room where there was good light for knitting?
After the podcast ?? weeks ago, I really wanted to knit some ITO yarn, so this Saturday coffee gave me two ideas. You can never have too many knitting plans, can you?
Now it's back to my Perla Cardigan. It's so great mindless because there is a page for each! size has a page to tick off the rows for the various increases. Pure knitting joy!

Sophia

Hey there, how great that you're enjoying knitting the Perla Cardigan so much! And no - you can never have enough knitting plans! Best wishes and lots of fun with Maschenfein and the most beautiful hobby in the world! Sophia

Stephanie

Do you have a suggestion for a summery yarn for Cabana Tee? A light and airy yarn...
And is this short-sleeved sweater also available as a long-sleeved version? It would make sense with the yarns you mentioned...

Sophia

Dear Stephanie, yes, there is also a sweater version: https://www.maschenfein.com/produkt/cabana-sweater/ And I'm looking around for a summer yarn for the tee. I'll make a note of it for the next Saturday coffee! Best regards, Sophia

Anita

Dear Sophia,
Thank you so much for the always wonderful Saturday Coffee! My biggest worry at the moment: is there an upper limit to the number of favorites that can be saved on Ravelry...? I hope not !!! -now that Cabana, Sylvan, Tulipan and Port are also stored there, I am at exactly 777 ..... have a lovely knitting weekend!

Sophia

Dear Anita, I believe that 777 is a lucky number 😉 And there's always room for improvement with favorites! In any case, I'm delighted that we can inspire you so much. Keep on having fun knitting and with Maschenfein! Sophia

Sabine

Good morning ☀️
When are you taking your needles to the Astor movie theater in Hanover? That would be so great!!!!
Have a nice weekend,
Best wishes from Isernhagen
Sabine

Sophia

Dear Sabine, there is already a series of knitting cinema events at the Astor in Hanover. But I'm very open to a fine knitting get-together in the city! If you have an idea for a possible location, please write to me at "redaktion@maschenfein.de"! 🙂 Best regards, Sophia
