{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}

Now that's what I call a brilliant start to spring! Blue skies, plenty of sunshine, early bloomers wherever you look ... I think it's wonderful (despite having hay fever!). The mild weather is also doing something to my knitting preferences. Maybe you feel the same way!

A wonderful good morning for Saturday coffee, in which I have brought you beautiful patterns for mild temperatures. But I also have something for everyone who gets cold easily or who just wants to knit whatever they feel like. Make yourselves comfortable and enjoy reading!

Lightweight sweaters for spring fever

When crocuses and tulips come out of the ground, my yarn orders become more colorful again (for a children's project, for example, Ica from Lamana in Pink promptly found its way into the shopping basket). In keeping with this, we are starting this week with a design by Lotilda, which Marisa wore several times last week and which has also made its way onto photos of our new mini shawls.

The Kim V-neck jumper is a light, fluffy sweater with a V-neck. The special feature is the integrated sleeves, which are knitted directly into the back and front sections. Short rows are worked across the entire width of the shoulders and sleeves at the beginning, giving the sweater a good fit and its special cut. The sleeves are closed at the end with a knit stitch.

We have two knitting sets for you: Marisa is wearing the Premia version. Here she is knitting in four strands with the silk mohair yarn from Lamana. Marisa has chosen the color navy blue - but of course you can also combine several colors.

You can get close to the red and pink original with the three-thread Tynn Silk Mohair set from Sandnes (we have preset the matching colors for you). But no matter which yarn combination you decide on in the end: The swatch is obligatory! I have found that I knit even looser with larger needles than I already do - so I always have to go down in needle size. So to avoid frustration at the end, it's better to check this beforehand 🙂

Perforated pattern for an airy look

Before I show you some new designs, I have to show you something "old" - which, in my opinion, has lost nothing of its beauty. What am I talking about? Blouse No. 2, which was released around a year and a half ago and was created by My Favorite Things Knitwear.

The sweater is knitted with a lace pattern from the top down. You shape the neckline with short rows. As with the original, you will find Petunia by Rauma in the knitting set, a pure cotton yarn that we carry in muted and cheerful spring colors. We would also like to take this opportunity to refer you to our spring knitting inspiration, where you will find the two designs just shown and many more knitting ideas for mild temperatures.

Armed for fresh mornings in spring

Late Checkout Sweater
You can really use a simple sweater at any time of year. An example: Late Checkout Sweater by Veronika Lindberg.
Photo: ©️ Veronika Lindberg

Do you remember how I raved about Veronika Lindberg the other day? Louisa then showed me another design by the Finnish designer - and I'm sharing it with you today!

The Late Checkout Sweater is the perfect basic piece for me. Very simple, a bit melange, but it goes with so many things! And I can't go without a sweater in spring and summer either. They always go into my vacation suitcase when it gets chilly on the (Danish) terrace. I knit from the top down - either from Alpakka Følgetråd and Double Sunday (i.e. mohair-free) or from Merino and Soft Silk Mohair from Sandes (with mohair).

At this point, I would like to remind you once again about the gauge: If you are already familiar with the yarns mentioned above, you will know that you will not achieve the same gauge with the same needle size. So be sure to make a sample or maybe even two in order to achieve - in this case - 17 stitches per 10 cm.

New from Paula_m

And even if the following model is rather wintery and cozy - of course I can't get around the HANNA sweater by Paula_M! That's why the new design from the Coburg-based designer is of course allowed in the coffee shop today.

The sweater is knitted with a cable pattern from the top down. The cut is long and rather wide so that the model is really something to "just pull over". As the HANNA swe ater has a very loose fit, Susanne has "only" graded four sizes this time. It's best to measure a favorite sweater and see which size you find yourself in. The sweater is knitted with Como Grande and Premia from Lamana - you can't get more cozy than that!

Pssst ... trade fair novelty!

Lamana Torino Bouclé
New from Lamana: Torino Bouclé.
photo: ©️ Lamana

By the time you read this, I'll be in Cologne - ready to jump onto the trade fair grounds and show you the latest from the world of knitting at h+h together with some of my wonderful colleagues. I'm so, so looking forward to it!

Among other things, we'll be popping into Lamana to try out Torino. The bouclé yarn is brand new, but you know what? You can buy it from us from today! The composition of merino and silk is new in the bouclé sector and its fineness makes Torino perfect as an accessory yarn. But you can also knit it solo. I'm looking forward to our gauge and, above all, to the first designs that will be knitted with it!

Jonna Helin, one of the founders of Laine Verlag, will also be at the trade fair. I'm sure we'll be able to take a look at the new issue of the magazine, which went on sale yesterday. What I can say: Laine Magazine Issue 24 totally picks me up again.

I'm particularly taken with the cover model. The Thuja cardigan with its delicate pattern and three-quarter sleeves is just my thing. I'm already looking for an alternative yarn. I will deliver next week - I promise! The same applies to the Amber jacket by Cheryl Mokhtari. With 20 stitches on 10 cm in stockinette stitch, a beautiful, summery replacement should be found quickly.

Summer feelings with Sandnes

À propos summer: the new summer collection from Sandnes was also released this week. I personally can't think about really breezy tops yet, but I know that some of you already want to make provisions - so here are my personal favorites:

The Milly Dress is a cute dress with short sleeves, knitted in Alpakka Silke. I haven't had this yarn made from 70% alpaca and 30% silk on my needles for ages, and it's so beautiful! The model is knitted from the top down, with the skirt becoming wider, which gives it a beautiful drape.

You can knit yourself a cute set with the Cleo Sweater and the Cleo Skirt. Both designs are made from Line, one of my favorite yarns for summer. As you are knitting stripes here, there are no limits to your desired color combinations.

I also think the rose top from Mandarin Petit is very cute. Be sure to click through the product images here! The shirt in the pearl pattern is only knotted at the top at the back and otherwise open, which is why I would combine it with a T-shirt as shown in the picture. You can find all the other styles on this overview page.

Mini cloths - Maxi Chic: You buy us empty

But before we look at our knitting round, I have to say a word of thanks, because: You have sold us out. And the publisher too. Our new book Mini Shawls - Maxi Chic was published last Tuesday and now our stocks are empty. We had ordered a large batch, but are still waiting to hear when the delivery will arrive. But I can tell you this much: a second edition is already in print and can be expected in April.

Even if not everyone has a copy yet: Thank you for your enthusiasm! It's so nice that you like the book as much as we had hoped (and a bit more ;-)). When my colleagues and I meet today, we'll raise our glasses to it! I have one more request for you at this point: If you already have a copy and like it, please leave a positive review - also on Amazon. That will help us and the publisher enormously. Thank you very much!

New podcast episode

You can also find out more about the creation of the book in our latest podcast episode. I recorded it with Sandra, who is behind Mini Tücher - Maxi Chic together with Lisa and Marisa. In it, she gives you a look behind the scenes and explains, for example, why it's not enough to simply knit large shawls smaller. Have a listen!

I also found a nice mix in our knitting group again this week. Take a look:

Kirsten is busy wearing her finished Mia Sweater Chunky by Cheryl Mokhtari. Knitted from Snefnug and Midnatssol, it is super cozy. If it has to disappear into the wardrobe soon, it will definitely become a favorite again in autumn.

Katrin has a little spring messenger in her luggage: she is currently knitting our baby blanket with bunnies. It's such a cute project! Because the design is worked in doubleface, a little concentration is required - but it's worth the effort!

While you hopefully continue to make yourselves comfortable with a coffee or tee, I'll pack my rucksack and head off to the exhibition grounds. I'll tell you more about h+h next week! Have a great weekend with lots of knitting time!

Charlotte

A wonderful site. I look forward to more wonderful designs and tips. Thank you very much.

Katrin

Hello all,

YES, exactly. I feel the same way when it comes to hay fever and my mood and knitting preferences.

To be honest: I started my first summer piece for this year the day before yesterday - a shirt made of organic cotton from Krea Deluxe. I had finished a winter project so far - a Westover made from Merino KfO - and I still had to order more material for the cuffs, so I had to start something new anyway.

I'm sticking with the cotton shirt for now, even though you - once again - delivered super fast. I had the order with me the very next day.
Now it must be summer!

Enjoy the sun and the warmth, next week it's supposed to get cooler again.

Kind regards Katrin from Essen
