Cali XL scarf

The Cali shawl is a wonderfully soft shawl with a checked pattern that is knitted from one end of the shawl to the other. Starting on the right side, increases are knitted to the center of the shawl and then decreases are worked to form the left shawl tip. Stripes in a contrasting color are worked for the check pattern. By knitting purl stitches at appropriate intervals, you prepare for the later crocheting of the stitches for the horizontal stripes of the check pattern.
