Description
Manos del Uruguay - Fino
Fino from Manos del Uruguay is the thinner counterpart of Silk Blend. It is a non-twisted wicking yarn of merino and silk. The color palette is a soft semi-solid blend. Fino is particularly well suited for fine tops or warming scarves and shawls.
Manos del Uruguay is a unique fair trade project for the women of Uruguay. The cooperative has existed since 1968, enabling women in rural and poor regions of Uruguay to stay on site and feed their families. The company Manos del Uruguay belongs to the women who work there. Manos del Uruguay yarns are more than just knitting wool, they are support and appreciation in a direct way.
The hand dyed yarns are always dyed in trains of 3 kilos. Each skein is unique and is not like any other.
Therefore, before changing the ball, always knit several rows alternately with the new and the old ball so that no strong transitions are visible.

Katrin Brown -
I ordered a skein and shortly thereafter ordered matching 2 skeins of the same color: Mother of Pearl, same lot. Apparently all three went together. Last weekend I wound the 3 skeins into balls and it came out that 2 matched, but the third did not - looks like a completely different color. Now I have to completely throw out my plans and make something completely different. From the banteroles it is not clear which lot it is and as strands this difference is not perceptible - that is a big minus for this yarn.

Louisa -
Dear Katrin,
that is really a pity! Mano des Uruguay itself gives the following information:
"... Sometimes several dyeing passes are necessary to achieve the desired color variety and depth. And even if the color recipes are given, depending on the dyer, depending on the region and even depending on the season, humidity and sun intensity during drying, the result turns out differently, because all these factors influence the dyeing process. In rare cases, even the skeins of the same dye bath may look different. Therefore, be sure to buy a sufficient quantity of these yarns and when changing from one skein to the next, still alternate the old and new skeins over a few rows."
We will add to our product description to that effect.
Kind regards
Louisa
