Manos del Uruguay - Alegria Grande Gradient

The Alegria Grande is the heavier counterpart to the Alegria. It also has the sock-typical composition, only runs half as long. It is wonderfully grippy and voluminous. This fantastically soft Fair Trade yarn with its wonderful twist gives a wonderfully clear stitch definition. The finished knits have excellent resilience and retain their shape. It is made from the finest merino wool, is superwash treated and therefore beautifully easy to care for.

Manos del Uruguay is a unique fair trade project for the women of Uruguay. The cooperative has existed since 1968, enabling women in rural and poor regions of Uruguay to stay on site and feed their families. The company Manos del Uruguay belongs to the women who work there. Manos del Uruguay yarns are more than just knitting wool, they are support and appreciation in a direct way.

The hand dyed yarns are always dyed in trains of 3 kilos. Each skein is unique and is not like any other.

Therefore, before changing the ball, always knit several rows alternately with the new and the old ball so that no strong transitions are visible.
