ITO - Kouki

Kouki is a ribbon yarn made of ramie and silk. Ramie is also called "Linen of the East" - the plant belongs to the nettle family, from whose stem the fiber is obtained. Ramie is considered the highest quality bast fiber and is characterized by very high strength and a silk-like sheen. Until today, the processing of the fiber is very complex, cannot be fully automated and is therefore cost-intensive. When blended with silk, ramie gives the yarn high stability - the knitted fabric does not stretch out. Kouki is suitable for elegant summer wardrobe and fine shawls, knitted on 2.5 to 3 mm needles.
